It claims that it's a dual band wifi phone, but I don't see my 5Ghz wifi network.
Have had no issues with wifi connecting to an older Linksys wi-fi access point at 2.4Ghz as well as
5Ghz in AT&T U-verse modem.

Very Good with xiaomi.eu ROM and rather poor with AOSP
Since my job is to test Wi-Fi routers and i happen to have this phone, here are the results.
Tested with D-Link DIR853 router (2x2MIMO, AC1300) with 1G/100M connection.
5GHz- Wi-Fi throughput using speedtest -
584Mbps download, 101 Mbps upload
2.4Ghz (20MHz)
120Mbps download, 80Mbps upload.
Tested with default global ROM. Phone support 2x2MIMO on both the band with 256-QAM(Turbo QAM) on 2.4GHz. So data rate supported is 866+400(AC1300).

I would say it's very good, better than the V30, although I have no complaints with the V30. I have spectrum 400/20 running Ubiquiti networks (1 AP Pro, 1 AP-LR). Connected to the AP-LR currently, [email protected] and I am getting 293/24.7.
edit - currently about 30ft from the AP.
Tried again today, about 40ft away now, 320/24.8 @ 74% (-61dBm) AP-AC 5gHz. HTH.

Can't see or connect to 5GHz band WiFi networks. There's no options to switch between 2.4 or 5 in the settings, either false advertising or an oversight in software.
Edit: upon further research this phone does not support WiFi ac.

Wifi is fast enough for me to transfer 17 gb within 10 minutes from phone to phone via Wifi file transfer.
The wifi link speed on 2.4G band maxed at 72Mbps, while 5GHz at 96Mbps. I can't use 80MHz channel width on 5GHz, it's 2x slower than 40MHz.
I expected more since the wifi hardware is WCN3990 which supposed to be much faster than that.
Tested on TP-link AC1200 router. Realme 5 pro RMX1971_11_C.04

According to me,
WiFi is above average, i usually get full bandwidth (24mbps) where as other phones struggle to get even 15mbps
The highest speed I got so far is 130Mbps in 2.4GHz 40MHz channel width sitting next to the router. Range is good too. Didn't try 5GHz yet.
