Carplay Android Siri - Android Head-Units

my 8227l android 8.1 unit has built in carplay. some way to add in android shortcut to voice command siri, or better yet assign steering wheel button to siri. thanks

Not an MTCx unit, have requested move to [Android Head units] forum.
Suggest spending a little time searching and reading. Your 8227 doesn't have carplay, it's a screen mirror app.

Suggestion for steering wheel control function

Hi guys
I am posting my video for steering wheel control suggestion, really hope in future android hu can do more than basic function.
Someone interested in can contact me for more detail
This way I have done for Newsmy Carpad 3 with xposed additon module
You'd probably be better off learning Chinese and telling it to your device's manufacturer.

Can other HUs do IBUS integration like the Avin Avant 4?

I'm very tempted by the Avin Avant 4 (even though it will cost me a lot to import to the UK), particularly for it's ability to integrate with my car's IBUS and OBC, to enable things like visual display of the parking sensors, showing you when lights are on, and even being able to code things like the door open chime etc.
This is the system in question: https://avinusa.com/avant-4-multimedia-navigation-system-for-bmw-3-series-e46-m3.html
I've also noticed Avin do an 8.8" widescreen model - https://avinusa.com/8-8-multimedia-navigation-system-for-bmw-3-series-e46-m3-model-hcpx69088e46.html - Which bears an uncanny resemblance to the 8.8" one by some chinese 'brands', like this one: https://www.erisin.com/erisin-es300...-3-series-325-e46-m3-rover75-mg-zt-p0509.html
So it seems Avin get their units manufactured in the same factories in China, but I guess they just make their own software?
Does anyone know if any of the other chinese ones have managed to add this IBUS feature yet?
Cheers
AFAIK, Avin just package their head units with the Resler iBus interface and the iBus App, but both are available seperately. I use a Dasaita 9" head unit in my E39, along with the Resler Interface and IBus App, and have full control over the factory DSP Amplifier, all OBC functions, PDC etc. The iBus App is expensive, and a bit buggy, but they are actively developing it, so hopefully the bugs get fixed. Thank you so much that's really helpful! So presumably, I could just buy any Android HU then, and then the resler interface and iBus app, and it will work?

Presumably, yes. That's all I did. I can't guarantee that it will all work on any head unit of course, but as long as it is a reasonably new unit then it should work fine. The iBus App crew recommend XTrons HUs, but I bought a Dasaita and it works fine.
What flavour BMW are you putting it into?

OK great : ) I won't hold you personally accountable if it doesn't work!
It's a 2005 e46 M3 coupe. As its one of the last built, hopefully it will have all the necessary OEM technology inside to enable all of these features!

Ah, nice! Yes, it should all work fine. The biggest problem I had with my installation was in getting all of the steering wheel buttons to work as expected, so I'm keen to hear how you go. Although the iBus App will handle the steering wheel controls, I use the Canbus Box that came with the head unit. Single press functions work fine, and I have limited remapping functionality available, but I would love to be able to get double-press and long-press functionality going, as well as more remapping ability.
But overall, I'm really happy with my setup. It sounds fantastic to my non-audiophile ears and it's great to have modern functionalty available in a 21 year old car
Keep us posted with how you get on

Great, thanks for the help. OK that's interesting, I didn't know about the double-press functionality either, that sounds good! I've always wished I could pause music from the steering wheel - I wonder if that will make it possible?
I've got an Erisin Android 6 HU in my current 330ci, which I'm really pleased with - got Android Auto working well with it, and I love that. I am a bit of an audiophile, but I'm not prepared to spend stupid money on getting music in the car sounding the best it can be, because most of the time the road/engine/exhaust noise means you never hear anything perfectly anyway. But I was pleased with how the Erisin was actually a sonic improvement over the old OEM satnav & amp. The M3 has harmon/khardon though, so it *may* be a closer thing!
I will let you know. I was all set for the Avin Avant 4, but now I know they're just the same as the Chinese HUs but with slightly different software, I may just buy one the cheap ones and try to get all the same gear working on that. Won't be for a month or two though, as I have tyres to buy first

How to get key navigation information from Android navigation apps

We are a company focusing on developing and making Android-based head units. We want to get key navigation information from popular Android navigation apps, like Google maps, Waze, Here WeGo, to display on the home page of our head units and, if supported, on the gauge cluster of vehicles. Can someone shed some light on how to achieve this? Thanks.
Which type of head units? MTCD/E type or other type?
Knowing this might help get your query best visibility.

Thanks for your reply. I thought Android navigation apps have universal protocol to send out key navigation information. Anyway, currently we mainly use Rockchip PX6 and SC7862 two platforms to develop vertical screen head units.
Thanks, I will request a moderator move your question to the generic Android Head-units forum.

ELI5 CANBUS android development

I am professional java developer, I did minor "regular" cellphone development, I am looking to implement a hobby piece of software exposing my vehicle CAN bus to the internet via 4G.
Q1: what is "external CAN bus decoder"? are there android units with CAN bus input which I can access from my won app?
Q2: I can put my own software on those head units just as I can put my own software into my android phone right?
Q3: any recommendations for a drama-free unit to play with custom apps with CANbus and 4G connectivity?
Q4: any open source java code with canbus more or less any subject just for inspiration?
Andrey, the rusEFI guy
Thank you
About Q4: you can ask Emil. He is the author of the app OBD2AA.
