Hey everyone,
last week my s10+ screen turned half white when i was outside with my dog.
It started a couple months ago with a black spot on the left of my screen. I thought it wasn't a big problem as it wasn't in the middle of the screen.
Last week I was taking a walk with my dog, I checked my phone for a football match kickoff time and put the phone back in my pocket. I later checked my phone again and noticed half of my screen was white.
The screen did react to swiping and even the fingerprint scanner worked. I went to KPN (which is the phone carrier I use) and explained the whole situation. They told me I had to reset my phone to factory settings. When I got home I tried to reset my phone however when I pressed the reset button my phone would just restart without deleting anything. So after a bit of googling I tried flashing stock firmware. I made sure it was the latest one and made sure it was for my phone. The flashing finished but now my screen doesnt work at all. I tried the booting into download mode methods however I cant get any screen output ever since I flashed that stock firmware. The phone does vibrate when I start it up and it does connect to my pc.(S10 folder pops up, but its empty) I also tried ADB however the phone doesnt show in the devices list. (probably because USB-Debugging has somehow turned off). I did root my device with magisk a couple months ago and i'm afraid I somehow bricked it when i tried flashing stock firmware on it.
Is there any way for me to get into download mode to try another stock firmware?
Note: I dont have any screen output at all, so I have to do everything blindly.

Firstly i would like to say hello and happy new year.
Now to the point,
Yesterday I dropped my phone in the snow and it got a bit wet
I assumed it would be ok.
Few mins after this a received a call and couldn't hear the caller so i suspected that there was water in the receiver so i took my phone apart and tried to dry it out (even though i couldn't see any water in it)
The thing is when i put the phone back together it came to the bootloader and said no image file on a gray screen
I assumed that it was looking for a Dreaimg.nbh file
I put one on my sdcard and attempted to recover the device.
This looked to have worked initially but when i restarted the phone i was presented with a bootloader screen again with the red, green and blue bands saying "serial0".
I assumed that the device was looking for a ROM and couldn't find it so it took me back to the bootloader.
I went online and downloaded a rc8 update.zip
I restarted the phone again and went in to recovery mode (where you update with the update.zip) pressed "alt+l" then Alt+w and then alt+s to flash with my latest update. and tried to reflash the phone from recovery by pressing Alt+s this seemed to work initially but failed after the 2nd restart the process went like this.
Turn on phone press home key
I get a triangle ! and a phone so pressed Alt+l (to bring up the options)
pressed Alt+w to wipe the phone
pressed Alt+s to apply the update.zip
waited,
phone said it was done and press Home+back to reboot.
when i pressed Home+Back before the phone rebooted a message came up saying that it was flashing the radio (is this normal)
Phone rebooted to the G1 screen ]
Then on to a screen with the Microchip on it with a yellow and orange arrow stayed on there for a while and then rebooted again to the g1 screen then on to a screen with a status bar and a package with an arrow within a second the phone reboots and we go back to the bootloader.
This is all my phone will do
Please can some one help me with this I am an IT professional but this has me beat.
Thanks in advance Emove
I am stuck with the same issue. This happened a day after i split some soda on keyboard.
The G1 is auto powering in fastboot mode even though the camera button isnt stuck.
Sometimes I manage to turn on the phone it works fine until it has the problem again and it drains the battery.
Mine in other respects is fine I was hopeing that my problem was fixable but no one has replied with any real comments that may help so i suspect that that no one knows what the problem is.
I would suspect that you have a short somewhere on the board. Soft drinks leave a residue on the PCB when they dry so maybe thats your problem.
your options are to deal with it as it is.. have it cleaned professionaly (t-mobile/htc) or if your brave/stupid like me try and service it your self. cleaning with alcohol should do it no harm if its already on its way out.
i do have the service manual if you need it.
On my second HD2, I had missed flashed the it, forgetting to flash it with HSLP first, so not surprisingly, It bricked. 1st the LED wouldn't even come on when plugged in. After accidentally leaving it plugged in for about 2 days, I noticed the light cam back on.
After trying to boot it, It only stayed at the Tmo splash screen over and over...so I decided to just leave it at the screen, Hours went by, and it stay a that horrible pink stick together screen. Then I fail asleep.
This morning I mistakenly picked it up thinking it was my other one, and to my surprise, I hit the power button, and it was working normally, even had the custom ROM. So I re-flashed everything correctly this time, and BAM, another HD2 up and running.
Maybe this set and forget technique will work for others sometime. IDK...lol
Hi,
After Xmas I made factory reset with TWRP and I made an upgrade to CM13.(6.0)
It was working fine.
When I was trying to make next daily update, after reboot, screen became black and nothing shown up.
I was trying a lot of things since that moment.
When I was going back from service point (I really want to sort it out) when they told me it is probably LCD broken (i have broken glass, but 1 year ago, so I do not believe it can be screen),
when I take phone out I spotted that keys are highlighted so I swiped and it locked out and shown screen! it was working perferctly fine,
so I decided that it is best moment to flash newest CM to solve issues, but after reboot screen was black again.
I can enter download mode so it is visible in Odin, but screen is black in every mode.
There is only quick flash on screen when turning on and also really short moment of Samsung Galaxy logo which becoming dark quite quickly.
I flashed stock rom(5.0), but nothing changed, despite of that I know phone is turning on somehow because I hear music on turning on...
Can someone help?
I really doubt that it can be hardware issue.
Can it be something with BL ? How can I solve it...?
I own a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. Model is a SM-G530T. T-Mobile is the carrier. Running Lollipop version 5.1.1. Phone is not rooted. Phone has not been dropped.
During the first few months of ownership and during normal use, occasionally the phone's screen would suddenly go dark and totally unresponsive. My response was to try and go into "download" mode ( vol down, home, and power buttons at the same time) to enable me to run ODIN and reflash the device with the correct firmware. It should be noted that it was quite an adventure to get into download mode. Tried repeatedly to usually no avail (sometimes over a couple of days) to get the button combination to work. Eventually I could get it to enter download mode (sounds weird doesn't it) and I would reflash with success. Pretty sure I had USB debugging on. This sequence of events occurred 2 or 3 times.
Fast forward to the present: Encountered another dark screen episode, But his time I found it impossible to enter "download" or "recovery" mode. On occasion the phone would seem to boot up with chimes playing buy never anything displayed on the screen but with a faint back light present. My PC will recognize the phone as a Galaxy Grand Prime. Interesting, I would try to use ODIN anyway (after doing the download button sequence and hoping it was in download mode) and at times ODIN would go through its process and indicate "pass". Phone would appear to re-boot with vibration and chimes but again no display present except for a faint back light. Even tried Samsung's Smart Switch to flash the firmware to see what results could be had. Smart Switch recognized the Grand Prime and appeared to successfully flash the phone but again the phone seemed to reboot in its final act of the process but no display. Strange. It should be noted that I am not sure if I had USB debugging on before this last dark screen event. Tried using ADB and fastboot to see if I could do anything with the phone but those processes never recognized the phone. Bought a USB Jig to see if I could get into a visible download mode screen but that didn't work.
It appears that I might be screwed. Trying a JTAG procedure as a last resort doesn't seem cost effective at this point. Anyway any comment/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Just a follow up from my original post: Is there a chance that a defective LCD or screen digitizer could be the problem?
so i have bought a brand new OP 5. did the latest update to O2 os 4.5.5 and considered doing a hard reset as i have spent a good amount of time with windows phone and a reset was just another ritual there after a ota update.
so i set the device to do a clean reset with wiping of all the data. the device rebooted to the red dot and 2 with dots revolving around it and then after a few seconds rebooted again . as it was late night already i decided to leave it resetting and will set it up later in the morning.
for my surprise when i woke a hour or 2 later i saw the phone is still in the same condition with the two dots revolving around in circles. and the device was super hot around the camera lens region. i didn't wanted to disturb the process so i kept the phone upside down to get it to cool down and went back to bed once again.
when i woke up in the morning and tried switching on my phone it showed a warning sign which read " low battery cannot boot" for a sec and died again. so i connected the charger and the phone booted up with the normal setup screen.
so what just happened? i thought of recreating the issue and i was able to reproduce it again when i charged the phone back to 90% i again set it to factory reset and alas again the thing got stuck in a loop where the two white dots kept circling around. this time i held the power button and the phone switched off but when i turned it on it went straight to the setup screen.
i can still recreate this issue and is seriously bothering me as what is the issue, my knowledge tells me this must be a software bug but is anyone else facing it? though a proper reset happens once in a while where the phone itself boots up to the setup screen but most of the times the device will be stuck on the rotating dots screen.
any help / suggestions / explanations will be much appreciated .
I had the same issue when i reset my phone
Oops Reseting leads to bootloop ??
Same thing happened to me as well. Stuck on bootloop
