If your carrier supports RCS (Rich Communication Services) but the RCS is not enabled on your galaxy S20, sharing this vid you can follow to activate it .
For those who don't know what RCS is, it's a feature where you can send original quality or hi-res photos, video and other large supported files using your phones messaging app. It's like iMessage.

I read about some features AT&T now has such as advanced messaging (able to send large files, see status of received/read of messages), HD calls (voice over LTE or something?) and video calls via phone app.
The only thing I see is video calls.
Where are these other features?
I can confirm HD voice works with video call. I'm not certain about advanced messages though
Not supported on this device. https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/features/advanced-messaging.html

The default dialer app has no such function, if you are trying to video call someone who has an iphone or any other phone you can do so with Viber, Whatsapp or other social media apps that support such function.
You can now download Google Duo for video call, it supports IOS as well
Sent from my XT1562 using XDA-Developers mobile app
The dialer does not have an option, I really miss the ability to make native video calls as I do in other Volte devices.
I can't use jio4gvoice for vid calls because it asks me to use dialer as my phn is Volte enabled.
Does anyone know to which app belongs the icon on the image? It is on the right part of the status bar and it is only on when there is an Internet connection. Thank you!
According what I found it is the icon to indicate RCS Service
What is RCS?
Rich Communications Services (RCS) is the platform that enables delivery of communication experiences beyond voice and SMS. It provides consumers with instant messaging or chat, one to one or to groups, live video and file sharing across devices on any network.
RCS marks the transition of messaging and voice capabilities from Circuit Switched technology to an all-IP world. It shares the same IMS investment and leverages the same IMS capabilities as VoLTE and video calls over LTE.

What are chat features?
Chat features provide an upgraded, rich messaging experience. Chat features:
Show you when someone is typing
Offer read receipts (show when someone has read or received your message, as well as showing your contact when you read their message)
Send messages over mobile data and Wi-Fi
Lets you share files and high-resolution photos
When using chat features, your messages are sent using the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol over Wi-Fi and mobile data. Chat features will be turned on only when all the participants in a conversation have chat features. Either your RCS service provider (e.g., mobile carrier) or Jibe Mobile from Google can provide chat features. This article describes chat features by Google.
