The default dialer app has no such function, if you are trying to video call someone who has an iphone or any other phone you can do so with Viber, Whatsapp or other social media apps that support such function.
You can now download Google Duo for video call, it supports IOS as well

install fringe
it works
it can do video calls too
and also does MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AOL, SIP (whatever that is)
after installing fringe i removed Google Talk, MSN, and Yahoo chat from my phone, since that single app can do it all
But lemmie guess, with fringe, does it use the speaker only?
Because I use sipdroid, but since it uses the loudspeaker, there is lots of echo. On the i7500, they apparently used another kernel to fix these issues.
I can't use fring because its blocked in the uae if I could I'd run to use it lol could someone tell me why nimbuzz isn't working? That's my only option now cos talkonaut is ****e

Fring support seems to be working hard on the Galaxy S audio and video issue.
Is there no one who has used nimbuzz successfully here?

I recall it working fine the last time I had it installed. Don't have it anymore as I reflashed my phone and trying to cut down on apps I don't use.
people say they can hear me but i cant hear them i cant imagine what the problem is
Fring doesn't support Skype video calling anymore... what does it use for video calling? Just its own protocols?
Also, it's annoying because you cannot set the notifications in Fring - it's the same annoying vibration!

I tried nimbuzz to msn , and it worked fine on a Galaxy S
Fring doesnt support Skype anymore at all.. no? not just video calls..
Fring is working fine here, doesnt support skype anymore for now but evrybody have msn right?
Sipdroid supports video calls but I didnt try it yet so I dont know how it works.
If you are interested just in sip calling, I just found a very nice app
light and with a very good call quality and no configuration needed, just sip settings : mobileVOIP
Well you do need an account with a supported voip provider
I'll try this when I get home thanks although I need skype to work msn would still be good

just though of something, can we use google voice on the tab by forwarding all the calls from our cell phone and be able to receive/make calls that way? what do you guys think?.
And how do you plan on doing this without actually having ever phone functionality? It obviously will work, getting google voice working on the tab. The real problem is getting the phone functionality, well......functional!

hmm i guess you are right and if we have the phone functionality working then there would be no need for google voice....
U cant. theres no dialer app, so theres no option to dial out using GV
Ive never tried GV on android. But im assuming thats how it works (that it integrate into built in dialer) from what ive read

Nice.... thanks for posting that...
You can't receive standard voice calls, but you can set Google Voice to call you on a VoIP line. E.g. I have a Gizmo5 account and use that with CSipSimple to redirect phone calls to.
I found the voice quality over Wifi with headphones to be excellent ;-)

Hey guys,
I just wanted to install a GTalk Version on my mum's Desire (which was mine before), in order to give her the ability to call me on with her Phone.
Every GTalk zip I flashed through the CM7 gives only the ability for video chat (with the back camera).
Is there a possible way to have only the voice chat option, and that I can call her from my Nexus via voice chat?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

It cannot with this aplication.
Only it is possible to type, or Voice and Video.
They are the only options, but there is Apss that do what you want, as TIKL
A greeting....
The one I have (it comes with MIUI-Au) has it but quite hidden. Open a chat with somebody, then hit menu, then More..., and there is Audio. That will start a voice call. The only problem is that it uses the speaker as it was a multimedia sound instead of regular voice call.
What a pity it can't be set to the call-speaker like on my Nexus...
Is there a way to automatically record phone calls (without any UI or the user knowing) and sync with box, dropbox or like a ftp server?
Has anybody seen such a beast? lol
Thanks in advance...
the goldeneye rom has an addon that records phone calls. google voice will also record if u hit the number 4 while in a call but it announces the recording to the other party.

So you want to give this phone to someone and let them make phone calls and not know that they are being recorded? Are you trying to catch your wife cheating on you? You can get call recorder for galaxy s4 phones by killer mobile in play store. You can change settings so that no notifications are shown. I am personally using call recorder pro on my phone for auto recording calls for safety reasons but, my fiance's GS4 with stock rooted MF3 would not work with that one or any of 4 others we tried. We finally tried the one I mentioned and it works after granting it root privileges. It has a month free trial.

You might want to try '
HTML:
<a href=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.record.my.call>Record My Call</a>
' app. It records your call automatically after you answer, or when you make a phone call.

I read about some features AT&T now has such as advanced messaging (able to send large files, see status of received/read of messages), HD calls (voice over LTE or something?) and video calls via phone app.
The only thing I see is video calls.
Where are these other features?
I can confirm HD voice works with video call. I'm not certain about advanced messages though
Not supported on this device. https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/features/advanced-messaging.html
weird... why on earth they don't support it on the newest phone they have if they want to push it? lol
