Why is my 5g speed so horrible???? I changed my sim card and updated my phone.
Can anyone help?
I have an unlocked note 20 ultra flashed with T-Mobile rom.
Try resetting network settings and clearing the system cache on the boot menu.
Double check your connection settings.

Hello All,
A couple of days ago my D800 went from 4G LTE to the Edge network. I spoke with the carrier to no avail, tried different towers by going to different locations and will not change from Edge. I went into the menu to try and change the band and the selector is stuck on Set GSM/UMTS band with no drop down option. This mobile was purchased factory unlocked, did not do any roots or any other custom changes. Did a reset - factory restore and did not help.
Any ideas as what to try? Thanks in Advance....
EDIT: SOLVED... In Dual SIM settings, the Network mode was set to GSM only. I switched it to LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode and now I have LTE again. I guess GSM only was set by default?
My phone no longer accesses the T-Mobile LTE network, rather it only stays on EDGE after I flashed DrakenFX's B29 build bootstack and system files from the thread "[ROM/GUIDE] Full Updates / Back to Stock Files via TWRP (A2017U, A2017G, A2017)".
Strangely, the phone shows two T-Mobile default APNs, and I don't know why they are on there! I'm using an MVNO (Ultra Mobile, on the T-Mobile network). These T-mobile APNs can't be deleted as there is no option to delete APNs in the menus. I've tried all four APN settings offered by the Ultra Mobile tech support line, and they all give EDGE data. My LTE data was working fine before I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and flashed B29. Everything functions perfectly besides the mobile data.
Any ideas? (XDA rules say I can't post in the development threads).
I've been using my unlocked XT1767 with my Global FreedomPop GSM SIM for months without issue. I also tried my TMobile SIM which worked fine as well. I went to try my Virgin Mobile SIM (Sprint) last week and after the phone powered on it said something to the effect of "Unrecognized SIM, locking SIM." I promptly turned it off and put my FreedomPop SIM back in and now the phone doesn't recognize it. I get an X on the signal indicator and the usual "This is not a Verizon SIM card message." I tried a TMobile, MetroPCS and ATT SIM, all which are recognized. The TMobile SIM is the only one I have service on and I verified data is working. However, both of my Global GSM FP SIMs give the X in the signal bar.
What happened?

I tried the network settings reset and a factory reset without success. I'm baffled.
It's worth noting the aforementioned FP SIMs work fine in other devices.

What ever happened, the sim card didn't agree with the modem. Try booting to the bootloader and with fastboot run the commands:
Code:
erase modemst1
Code:
erase modemst2
Then reboot and see what happens. I don't think I would try the sim card that caused problems again.
Thanks for the ideas. What ended up fixing it (after another factory reset) was to go to settings > wireless and networks > cellular networks. This caused the app to crash. I re-opened settings, went back in and was able to hit "search for networks." Then FreedomPop showed up and I could select it. After entering its APN I'm in.
It's all very strange. I don't know how any of that could have persisted after resets.
Hey guys,
I have an S8+ from Canada (unlocked, purchased direct from Samsung). The latest update seems to have killed off the ability to get data working, everything else is fine.
The update went as normal, but as soon as it rebooted it was out of action. I've since reconfigured APN settings, wiped the cache partition, reset the network and performed a factory reset - no dice.
I swapped sim cards with another GS8 - my sim worked fine in the other phone and that sim didn't work in mine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Michael

Is your APN settings still intact after the update? Check under settings>mobile network>access point names. That's most likely the problem, you might have to Google the APN for your current carrier and add it to your APN list, then select it. If that isn't the problem make sure you have the proper network mode selected (ex. CDMA, LTE, Global,...) if you need further help don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply - yea that was the very first thing I checked. No dice!
Do you have the proper network type selected for your carrier?
Hi there, I updated my Mi A1 through OTA to pie january update via Idea mobile data. But after it rebooted the network signal was gone. I tried inserting Airtel Sim card, it works.
It somehow has problems with Idea sim. The same idea sim works absolutely fine in other phones. Tried factory reset but to no avail.
Here is the list of things I already tried,
1) Inserting other operator's sim. Airtel SIM worked.
2) factory reset
3)Changing from 4G network to 3G or 2G. No use.
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Same issue here, but on Cricket. I cannot make calls at all. I put this SIM in another phone and it works fine. I put the other working SIM in this phone and it doesn't work. Tried setting preference to 3G and 2G since I saw threads about VoLTE being broken by the update, but still nada. This really sucks. Can anybody help?
