at this point its safe to assume there will be anything new apart from security updates xD

I gave up a while ago from getting any fix. This phone is abandoned by Xiaomi

Audio channel swap in usb
Anyone with audio channel swapped over USB? I was using wireless headphone for 1 and a half months before and then switched to usb type c adapter. I noticed the left right channel swap first when playing COD mobile. Only over USB not on wireless. Anyone has this bug? I think it came on August security patch. Before that audio over USB worked fine. I have tried different adapters, problem still persists. l think it is similar to the bug that happened on OnePlus phones. I haven't gotten the sept update.

I have passed to Pixel Extended, much better than stock, all works very well.
You should think to change...

Any bugs that I need to know in pixel extended? Also how are the security updates, is it regularly updated?

So far i don't find any bugs, except there's a glitch on the QS bar clock, that make it double whenever you swipe up/close the QS, it doesn't happen if you have a notification, but its never bother me bcs it hardly noticeable. And PEx also has a good battery backup, better than stock i think, the security update also updated regularly every month, and jasmine will get android 11 builds soon! I highly recommend you to flash this rom, it's so stable. (Sorry for my bad grammars).

Yes I noticed too

You mean only left audio channel in right headphone side?

Well guys.... GREAT NEWS!!!
There is ONE huge thing that got fixed with this update, 5ghz wifi!
Finally I get my 250+ Mbps over 5ghz, just like on Pie. Since android 10, I would get at most 150Mbps and the phone would lag a ton while doing the speedtest.net (app). Now it's fine.
Check yours to confirm
NEVERMIND: this behavior only lasted for a couple of minutes... Back to 130ish Mbps and lagging lol ?

Is it just me or we're getting better battery life with September update? I usually was plugin the phone between 20-40% in the evening, feels like since the last update it's more 50-70%... but as always with battery life, hard to tell, could just be some of my usage, or some apps that got updated and more efficient...

Just you, I think! I haven't noticed any improvement.

Not sure if it's a new issue which got introduced by the latest update. But sometimes i have the problem that I cannot turn on bluetooth, it i click on the button it shows "turn on bluetooth.." but it doesn't.
Now i experienced it the other way around, i can't turn off bluetooth, it's not even possible to unpair my headphones.

i'm skeptical about custom rom base on my previous experience. can PE run banking and e-wallet app?

I think you shouldn´t suggest to flash ANY LP1-6 kernel anymore. Today, everybody should know the danger of them...
MY 2 CENTS:
Ultrafine! The only one thing missing is the possibility to change the DPI!!
Works well enough but Samsung seem to have tried to hide the simple elegance of stock ICS in some ways. Thinking of going back to CM9. Not much of a pen user anyway ,

Loving the ICS release except for one thing.....
I toggle silent/vibrate on and off quite a lot. When I do this, using the long-press power-button menu, some wonderful person has decided that I am so clueless, I need a confirmation dialogue box.
"Warning! Silent mode will be enabled OK/Cancel"
Gasp! Really!?!?! I had no idea that would happen when I purposely held down the power button and then with delicate intent selected the desired silent-mode function.
Just. Wow. It's supposed to be a shortcut, and Samsung just ruined it. Of course, I flashed completely stock without root, so I'm probably stuck with this until somebody figures out how to root this stock ICS release. (Maybe they have already, I'll do a search).
It's a small complaint to most people, but I toggle silent on and off many times a day. This is a huge annoyance. I'll see if there are any lockscreen toggles I can get - actually, EVERY single android release or skin should have silent/vibrate toggle on the lock screen, as it was in the earlier android releases. Motorola seems to be the only one who realises this. Sheesh....
Generally good, am upset by the lack of 160 dpi/tablet conform, just be aware if you're going for lower dpi's you'll face fc's

No call audio while fast charging

I have a strange issue, if the 6p is fast charging (supplied 3a charger) and the phone rings (incoming call) i cant hear the other party and they cant hear me until i unplug the charger... Almost like i thinks the charger is also a headset.
Im on the latest official rom, i cant be the only one with this weried bug surely?

You're not alone. I have found this for quite some time, too. I could only find a few other cases on the internet... One of them was on Google product forum. One reply says it's a known issue and is software related. I'm surprised though that so many people either don't have the issue or don't notice it, if it were a "known" issue.
---------- Post added at 08:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 AM ----------
BTW I have this issue not only when it's fast charging but also when it's slow charging. I've tested with PC USB charging, and there's no sound from earpiece.
Another difference is people can hear me so mic seems to be working. I just can't hear them.

I did also post it to the nexus forums someone suggested to run an app to monitor if the phone thinks a headset is connected in anyway when charging and the phone rings... Never had time to test. At least i know im not alone, honestly i dont understand why more people have not noticed and also why we have had 3+ months of security fixes with 0 bug fixes or at least according to the change logs.
If more people could either confirm the have the issue or at least post back they dont, which would prove its not all of them... If its software it should be everyones.. However my feeling is it maybe hardware... How do you check the build date of the 6p, or maybe we could narrow it down with our purchase dates.
Mind doesn't do this. At all. Ever. No idea why yours might. Have you tried the basics like checking for rogue apps and full reset?
Build date is under barcodes (power on and volume down)
Ok my build dates 18/10/2015, thanks for posting back, so at least its less likey its is really software.. Dont really have time to try a full backup, wipe, test and reload right now, but my feeling is its not software rated, im suspecting a common ground issue.
I have no energy to redo my rom either as I'm a bit more OCD and maybe paranoid than average. My build date is Oct 30, 2015. I'm truly hoping it's not hardware related ?

remember what that app is called? I might give it a try. It might be kernel independent. I've tried both Stock and Elemental X, which is based on stock though.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Hi, sadly they never told me which status app to use, there are a few which will tell you which audio device is active. They called it device info but there are at least two which go by that name....
Ive not had a chance to double check since the update, but it appears it only happens on incoming calls... Which is strange, but if your build date is also similar to mine and we both have the issue and others dont it does look to be maybe some hardware bug. Im sure it could be worked around in software, just the need to accept its actually a bug before this happens.
I have this issue and it's really irritating. The charger does not matter and clean wiping hasn't resolved it. Going to get in touch with Google about it and see about a potential replacement.
Same here
Hi,
I'm running version 7.1.1, NMF26F build
Same issue here, no audio during calls via the earpiece.
It does work on Hands free speaker mode, using a headset and a bluetooth headset.
Just a thought, it appears that the phone doesn't want your head near the unit while it's charging. Precaution maybe?
Got a replacement from Google lately and today finally set it up (a full Nandroid restore from previous N6P), so nothing changed OS-wise, and found out the call works normally when rapid charging. If it's not too much trouble, I suggest everyone to contact Google about this issue.

Problem with 360 camera?

Hey guys.
So I just got a new PH1 and a 360 camera.
When I hook the camera up, I get a blue light, and it goes to a black 360 screen, but only twice has it actually shown any video. The 2nd time It successfully connected, it started loading again after just a few seconds.
Anyone know what's up with that?
Does the blue light turn to green? It's supposed to... Do you have a skin on the phone? That extra thickness can keep it from working.
It is almost always blue
No
I had the same problem before. It's the phone hardware issues. Send back for warranty or return it for replacement.
Sent from my BLA-A09 using Tapatalk
Hi, viper98!
Just got my PH-1 and 360 camera today, have all system (Android 8.1 with April security patch) and camera app updates (4 MAY) and Firmware update for 360 camera. Same problem here. The LED indicator on the back of the camera almost always blue, works intermittently.
Did your problem get solved?
Any updates on this? Happening to me too.
I've had my PH-1 for a better part of 4 months and have the latest security patch. I would perform an update to the latest and see where it goes. I've not had any issues with mine.
Already updated to all the latest versions.
Yeah same here. I have emailed Essential support. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyone have any success fixing this?
Has essential support been any help?
Remember to remove the back skin cover
Essential sent me a replacement, but the camera came on the first time, but after an update, it stopped working.

Okay. Essential replaced my camera and everything is working now. One thing they suggested was the first time I connect the 360 camera be in safe mode to prevent anything interfering with the software update to the camera. I did that and it updated without any issues and works great now. I'm on the release version of Android pie.

Like or dislike Android Pie

How's people liking Android Pie?
I installed on my stock OG Pixel XL and I think it actually runs faster, or seems to. I turned off the swipe gesture for the home key at first to get used to the rest if the changes. I just turned it back on and I am getting used to that now. All in all I am happy.

OG PIXEL XL, here and one day in, I'm digging it. Hoping for root, Substratum, Dolby Atmos & Gravity Box
Root is already working, just flash magisk 16.7 beta.
I'm rooted and using elemental kernel, so far so good.
The OS itself feels a lot different than N or O, especially when using the pixel launcher.

Substratum will never happen as they changed overlays. Say good bye to it.
The others I never used.
I personally love android 9. The new gestures are cool. Its speedy, battery life is real good.

You're right, about root. I guess I was thinking outside the Pixel realm. It's my backup phone. I could probably live without all the others, but Dolby Atmos. The rest are aesthetics, but I love me some car audio jamming.
I don't, his however love the Pixel and my Moto Z2 Play, probably won't get Pie.

Built AOSP last night is so much faster than the official build Pie is definitely going to be a nice experience
I have a weird issue where the battery icon stays lit up when charging while off. It them doesn't turn off when the phone is unplugged?

Overall, it is fine. Pretty snappy especially considering I updated with the -w removed instead of doing a complete install. I haven't messed much with the new look and feel features since stock O was just fine to me. One bug is that when I click on/dismiss a notification the icon stays there sometimes until I swipe down on the curtain again. The new volume quick access that includes buzz and mute is nice though I don't like that just turning down volume from the main screen now controls media instead of ringer. The only thing I don't care for is the new window animation (app window bouncing open for lack of a better explanation). Seems like a waste of resources with no functional benefit. 2 apps that caused messages that they were designed for an older version of Android, but both worked fine and the message no longer pops up after hitting the OK button the first time you see it. All in all, P was a well though out and largely bug-free update. Clearly, it was extremely stable and ready for a general release that was earlier than any of us where expecting. I haven't seen anyone talking about reverting to O. That is always a good sign.

I have a test build with it but I have not had time to flash it yet. I'll get to it tonight
It's pretty snappy. I'm digging all the little nuances, like the volume popup and the in call bubble that shows on top of other apps.
While using the phone, the clock in the upper left, catches my eye and I think it's a notification.
The nav pill is ok. I have a little trouble switching to previous app.
I signed up for the DIGITAL WELL BEING app. I don't know if it will be very useful, to me, but time will tell.
I do appreciate being able to darken the quick settings tray, but don't understand why notifications are left with white backgrounds.
I don't like having to pull down, twice, to get to settings.
ETA, I found another thing I like, the select text, expanding window and the copy / paste experience.

Anyone else simply happy not rooting this phone?

When I bought this phone two weeks ago I was excited at the prospect of rooting it so that I could install my "goto" root apps.
I pondered it for several days and was about to root yet another device and I changed my mind. I find I am enjoying Oreo just the way it is and for me this is a nice change. I tend to root/jailbreak everything immediately. In the end flashing rom updates and fixes actually started to give me anxiety. I found myself dreading updates and it was becoming a real chore and wasn't fun anymore.
Anyone else enjoy this phone without tinkering with or modifying it?
Yep same here, been having this from last year and half, the verizon variant.. Though rooting this is pain and all but just like you I was too. Much into rooting and flashing.
This phone as it is, is awesome enough.
But i liked nougot more
Sent from my ASUS_X00TD using Tapatalk
It is an amazing device. The only reason I rooted it was to remove the screen retention with a custom kernel and ckal support. :good:
One thing, is there any way to increase refresh rate without rooting? Just thought about this for some reason.
With Oreo I do not feel the need for root anymore.
On Nougat I used root for KCAL, build.prop mods for 16bit.pcm.offloading & zero shutter lag and also mods for stereo speakers & no throttle.
But I've yet to come across any burn in on Oreo, maybe they fixed it by recalculating the default KCAL values?
They've also fixed the issue of 44.1Khz audio being output as 48Khz through the DAC.
Could also be placebo but I find the DAC to perform better now on Oreo.
I'd love to have zero shutter lag & stereo speakers but that's just a mild annoyance hardly anything to worry about.
The weird thing is that my performance have seeming increased going to Oreo from having the performance mods on Nougat.
The left picture is on Nougat and the other one on Oreo.
Now that I think about it, silent camera would be nice for the default camera. If the setting is there I can't find it. Thanks for the side by side. Interesting.
Yeah, I don't need to root this thing either. I have had this almost a year now. Upgrade to Oreo, and now happier then ever.
May be in future once we Pie ROM with second screen feature, I will think about it.
I used to have a Samsung Note 5, and rooted and flash plenty of times. But, it was a pain to keep up with updates. I learned my lesson to not root Android.

Now that I think about it, silent camera would be nice for the default camera. If the setting is there I can't find it. Thanks for the side by side. Interesting.

In the end flashing rom updates and fixes actually started to give me anxiety. I found myself dreading updates and it was becoming a real chore and wasn't fun anymore.

I imagine this is how most get out of the rooting game.
There has to be a serious need to do so and not just for the sake of it.
Though i still believe unless you gain admin rights over your device you do not own it.

First time not rooting in about 10 years, running Oreo and so far everything is good (battery life, performance, features). I haven't even re-installed Nova Launcher, the home with app drawer has been good enough.
The one thing I'm missing is forcing it to 3g/CDMA since I'm on Verizon and where we live in Colorado, there is more and stronger 3g towers than LTE so I've always saved a lot of battery by locking to CDMA and not hunting/swapping for LTE towers. I'm mostly at home so I've got wifi for any real data needs. So other than that one thing, I haven't had a real need to root. So far...

If you have your msl you can force 3g or you can install Xposed and I think there's a module for that. Inteli3g
This is the first time I've rooted a phone for a while, due to the screen retention issue. Else, stock or AOSP unrooted is enough considering most features are available these days

Thanks for replying, I've been trying to get into the field service menu for the last couple of days but will probably have to call VZW and try to convince them to give it to me.
Re: Xposed, since that requires root, that was the one reason I miss having root (Xposed to be able to force 3g, that's how I did it on my old rooted phones).

That wasn't my experience with Oreo on my H918. Perhaps I need to try it again. As I recall, I still had screen retention issues, which is what ultimately led me to rooting my phone to use KCAL. I would really like for this phone to NOT be rooted.

Close to two months after my quoted message I can tell you that my phone do indeed suffer from screen retention. The first month i.e up to sometime in February I did not notice any screen retention - but since having sold my computer and using my phone for much more it has started to reveal itself.
It's only visible in one app, and that's Discord with its dark gray background and the 'retention' is that of the keyboard close to the edge of the screen.
Considering the circumstance around my screen retention, that for now, my V20 is my main 'machine'. I'm not that bothered by it, I have a PC coming in next week - and if I remember I'll tune in some weeks after it has arrived and update whether or not it's gone(with decreased usage).
For me I had had enough with screen burn and rooted this phone in last December.

Yeah, I realized I dug up an old post. Sorry about that.
I may have to try running my phone in a stock form to see how bad it really is. I'm running into some weird issues with, presumably with Magisk, and I want to unroot my phone. The only real reason I can't is because of the screen retention issue.

Oh it's no problem, sorry if my post came off as offensive.
It is really not bad at all, and I might elaborate om the issue that it's only really beginning to show later in the day.

See, mine will show retention minutes after being booted. For example, after a fresh install of a ROM, be it LOS or Stock, I'll start noticing ghosting before I can get into the color settings or Kernel Adiutor to make the adjustments... that's just from the time in TWRP and the booting. I guess everyone's phone it a little different.
