Where to find the recovery stock - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I would like to upgrade my Redmi Note 7 lavender.
The MIUI 12.1 by Xiaomi.eu 20.7.9 beta version is currently installed.
The smartphone mounts the OrangeFox R10.1_3.
I should restore the stock recovery, but I don't know how and where to find the recovery.img file.
Expanding the ROM I found only the boot.img file.
Can someone help me?
Thank you.

If you install stock MIUI and reboot to system, MIUI overwrites the custom recovery with the stock one.

Thanks for the reply.
But I don't want to reinstall MIUI because I would lose many current configurations that have already cost me a lot of time, I just wanted to know how to recover the recovery.img file relating to the MIUI version currently installed in order to use the command
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
without having to reinstall anything.
Thanks anyway, but the problem remains.

I think that you need a custom recovery to update xiaomi.eu, why do you need the stock recovery? I found this (is about redmi note 9 but should be valid also for rn7) https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/recovery-in-xiaomi-eu-fastboot-rom.56358/

Download a MIUI fastboot ROM, and extract it. You should find a recovery.img in it.

[GUIDE] How to install ColorOs with OTA update

Hi everyone, just in case someone wanna try ColorOs (default OS for chinese OnePlus one).
There's some zip files flashable with twrp but, after that, you can't use OTA update and have to manually download the upgrade and flash it.
For me is annoying so I've flashed the rom, with gapps without installing a recovery.
First download ColorOs from here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!BkpwyYSB!rkYSkFI28vFGuhtsIli-vyDdsb4ZZp1-MX1cLLtaiRo
Download Gapps from cyano (select the 10.2):
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Download Twrp (we will use it but we will not install it)
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/231
Remember, this process will wipe everything on your phone, so MAKE A BACKUP!!
Extract color.zip and boot the phone in fastboot mode (volume up + power), connect it to you computer.
Important if you have a 16gb phone, the second command is
Code:
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata_64g.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot reboot
After that, fastboot reboot will reboot your phone. You have to wait a bit the first time. Now, select english (ColorOs support only chinese and english). go to system > update a make the system update (I had to do two consecutive updates), don't worry, it's really slow.
Now, the phone is up to date but has no Google app and, the ColorOs recovery isn't able to flash them so, connect the phone and copy the gapps into the phone, after that reboot it in fastboot mode (volume up + power).
Code:
fastboot boot <twrp_image.img>
This will boot temporary the twrp recovery, go to install zip from sd card and flash the gapps, after that, you can reboot the phone and enjoy ColorOs with google apps.
Hope this could help.
EDIT:
If someone want to root it, have to install (using TWRP) this

I've NOT tried this file.
THX!
Could I go back to a other ROM like mahdi ROM whenever I want by just flashing a back up? And is this color OS 2.0.11 or 1.2?

Yes, you obviously can but, if you use this method, first you have to flash twrp or another recovery.
You can backup the phone, save the backup folder to your pc.
If you want to rollback, copy the folder that you have saved into your pc, flash twrp and restore everything.
I used this method becouse, in this way you have ota updates with no problems.
And this method, after the system update, will give you 2.0.11

Following this guide?
ColorOs has a lot of problems with twrp flashable zips.
I preferred to share a guide that uses fastboot. I've tried all of this command and, now I'm testing ColorOs, no issues at all.
ColorOs is a really good rom, smooth, nice with battery, full of functionality and, the best camera, other rom seems to use different hardware.
The rom is really too similar to Ios and I don't like ios clones but, I think that it's a rom that deserves a try.

By the way. is their a method to root color OS?
@AndroidInsanity
How did you solved the problem with fastboot dimension exceed?
I had the same problem with cyano 11s and Fedora.
I've edited the first post with a link that root the rom.
I've not tried to root the rom.
Can someone extract the modem image from this please? It won't complete download for me.

Anyone having issues with GPS lock for the stock weather app? When I try to get my location it stays at searching forever then eventually tells me it can't find my location, yet when I use the Chronic widget it finds my location easily.
Any patches to apply for the Colors weather? Would love to use it and some of the awesome animated lockscreens as well.

What TWRP version should I use?

Hi guys, I have 2 more weeks of waiting until I can unlock my bootloader.
I don't even want to flash a new rom (since debloating MIUI 10 seems pretty fine to me) but I want to root it, therefor I need TWRP (also thinking about flashing the xiaomi.eu rom since I can update it via TWRP as well).
Long story short: what TWRP version is the current one (functional and not in chinease) since there is nothing available on twrp.me and I'm not really sure what's up.
Thank you so much for your reply! Cheers! :fingers-crossed:
You can use the one made by josalaito, you can find it in the ROMs section. Or you can use the one in the Xiaomi.EU official page. There's not much to choose from, to be honest.

Don't hurry up, wait untill you unlock the bootloader. You may get more stable TWRP version.
I have downloaded several 'beta' recovery images. 2 different versions of wzsx150, OrangeFox and TWRP. None of them are working with 'fastboot boot recovery.img' After the successful upload, I get a redmi starting screen, nothing else. Is it working for you?
What happens if I upload a bad recovery. Do I have the possibility to overwrite it again with an other file? Does the stock ROM include the recovery?
Thanks for help!

I tried ln team recovery but I just flashed it.I booted to recovery from fastboot(by holding vol up and power till Redmi logo appears than just the vol up button).
I changed the language to English, than went to Advanced tab. There you will find forceencrpt and dm verity disabler.Select both of them and swipe the confirm button.
After that I recommend keeping Magisk 19.0 zip on sd card or internal storage.Flash it and you are rooted.
Your whole data would be erased of course.

EEA Global v10.3.8.0 to v10.3.10.0 through TWRP [MI 9T] (SOLVED)

Hello guys,
I'm searching (as the title said) someone that is in my same situation. I'm currently running the MIUI Global on Mi 9T with twrp + magisk. I'd like to update it safely but I don't know how to do. I tried to flash the rom zip through the twrp but it gives me the error "zip file is corrupt". I hope I will found someone to collaborate with.
I think the best things to do are:
- Unistall Magisk from twrp
- Reflash the original recovery through twrp
- Update MIUI Global
- Reflash TWRP and Install magisk
The possible issue is at the first step: if we unistall Magisk we could be stuck into bootloop and then we cannot do anything to restore our phone.
Another possible solution is to flash the fastboot rom through MiFlash but it is still not out and I don't know if it will ever be.
EDIT: I found how to correctly update the device. If anyone is in my same situation, just follow these steps
- Download the rom link from here
- Go to twrp and flash it (don't reboot yet)
- Go back and flash magisk
- Reboot
can you explain steps how you tried to flash by twrp?

Sure, I just downloaded the rom zip through the official updater and then I tried to flash it through twrp
Update: ok, the zip was really damaged. Now I installed it through an external source. How I can safely update now?

EEA. A developer of my old device suggested me to do this:
- Flash the rom zip
- Flash magisk (since it should disable dmverity to keep the twrp)
- Reboot
But I repeat: I'm scared like crazy because if I go into bootloop my phone will be out since a new fastboot rom will be out.
What's your opinion about this? Should I try anyway?
Before foashing new rom ununstal magisk by twrp. After all should work well
Sent from my Redmi K20 using Tapatalk
I have read of some cases of bootloop after magisk unistall

mi9t loop to TWRP recovery after install MIUI 11

Hello
today I got an update for MIUI 11 by OTA, I press agree for "UPDATE", my phone restarted to TWRP, it's Installed some files for update, after finished that my phone keep restarting to TWRP recovery again (LOOP)
I tried to download official rom and install by TWRP ,but after finish and restart device still rebooting to TWRP recovery
is there any solution for not losing my data ?
BTW : flash stock rom didn't remove TWRP recovery , why ?
(I download rom from xiaomifirmware [dot] com)
I am not expert on that field but from my knowledge try booting twrp and copy all your files to your pc or laptop (the one you need at least for saving some photos or videos ) then flash a fastboot ROM
And as I said from my knowledge not sure there might be other ways

Your phone was on a custom ROM but you didn't know it? oO
No Official ROM will boot and auto-install in TWRP...
Try to clear "Dalvik/Cache" and if still not booting then you will need to "Format Data" in TWRP (loose data).
If still not working, flash a fastboot image...

It happened to me once btw I deleted the system partition(first time flashing) ? then I flashed the fastboot ROM

You may try but be careful of going through wrong things such as edl mode

I suggest to move this thread to "Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development".
And maybe use a naming convention and a template for the first post also add sourcecode.

Hello ?,
I'm a noob at this. I just posted this because it took so long to have a thread that I wanted to show that there was some development on the device. There is a better thread in the forum about the same recovery and rom. Is there a way to delete this thread?

Yep. Though on consecutive reboots it just goes back to stock recovery unless I fastboot boot recovery.img again.
I haven't installed lazy flasher etc though.
