Tired of getting the Unlocked full speed flagships and not getting updates or getting in a timely fashion. I end up pulling the XAS or similar and doing them manually on my computer. What gives?
I know, right?
I switched to AIO in Frija and pulled down the ATI1 firmware, works fine.
Not sure why XAA is stuck on ATH3.

It's just a head scratcher when I'm looking at BRANDED devices from my friends getting system updates and current month security updates. Then Checking and looking up models and seeing I'm left in the dust even though I'm an early adopter, pay in full for my devices (not finance), always buy direct from Samsung, always get the fully spec'd device, etc. Then left to the wayside as other devices are updated or entered in Betas.
U1 already has the Sept. security patch for AT&T. (N986U1UES1ATI1)
U device are the ones still waiting.

I guess what is the problem if you still get it thirty days from your last update?
The Note 10+ last year got an update every month. Who cares that much if its two weeks after someone else?

That was the case with my U.S unlocked Note 9 for the last few years before I traded it in for the T-mobile ultra a few weeks ago. They always took their sweet time updating the unlocked version which made me frustrated all the time. Another thing I noticed is the signal wasn't as strong as my friend's t-mobile version when I compared it side by side with both phones running on the same t-mobile plan. It was always 1-2 bars lower. That's why I decided to go with the t-mobile branded version for the new Note 20 Ultra especially with 5g in the mix. I got t-mobile to unlock it after only 2 weeks so now I get the best of both worlds

Go to settings->About phone->Status->Sim Card Status
Signal Strength
It will read in -dBm.
-50 is very strong as in next to tower and -120dBm is on the verge of not having service.
I have a TMO femtocell and about 20' from the device it's showing -72dBm. On the status bar it's showing five bars...
Wonder if they are going to pull some BS when. the Beta 11 /UI3.0 comes available for the TMO People. Will I have to put a TMO sim in to register for it like previous versions? Then swap back out to my FI sim?
Just having us ALL on the same update schedule would be a nice start. I know it has always been like this.
i have unlocked note20ultra on Visible, never getting any update.
i have to put in my expired ATT prepaid sim card to get the latest update.

Yeah. So the signal bars are a representation of a signal level. That representation can vary by firmware, it's kind of how something can look not so great on a one to five scale but then not so bad on the 1 to 10 scale.

Wow. This is great to know. Does wi-fi play a factor in this as well? I switched between that and the regular network signal and didn't see much of a difference. Both were showing in the -90 to -92 range.

That's super strange, I've never heard of anything like that! I'm on Mint Mobile and I got the update yesterday! The carrier shouldn't dictate or have anything to do with the update on an unlocked device.

my fellow xda-ster, i am unhappy to share this with you but it has been like this since (before) the beginning of time, back when God was only a Corporal. back in the day, we used to pay an extra $100 for our unlocked handsets for the begotten priviledge/acknowledgement that we would always be last on their list, no matter the list!!

So apparently Google is coming out with a N1.5 with 3G Band I (2100Mhz), II (1900Mz) and V (850Mhz), versus the N1 Bands I (2100Mhz), IV (1700Mhz) and VIII (900Mhz).
I do not understand why Google's flagship HTC handset doesn't support every frequency and they (whomever "they" may be) simply enable/disable in software?!
Anyway, I guess this means N1.5 will work on AT&T 3G.
Any insider tracking the Google release date for the AT&T capable Nexus?

I was told by my AT&T representative for the SE region of RS that the phone is ready and is being tested to meet AT&T specs for speed on not only 3G but the upgraded HSPA networks. They however did not specify a date other than 2010 for the AT&T version. Soooo.... we shall see, normally they are right with the products coming to the market, like the Moto backflip which I knew personally was going to AT&T over a year ago.

There is no chipset/antenna design that supports all UMTS bands at the same time. The bgr was just wrong, there are two distinct bb9700: one for t-mobile and one for att.

I wonder what they are going to do to the nexus..remove the unlockable bootloader perhaps? I also wonder if Verizon is going to do the same...
Being on ATT with a nexus one, I really do want to be excited by this news as I am tired of being on edge (thankfully I have wifi available most of the time), but I am concerned about the lengths ATT will go to after seeing what they pulled with the backflip.
I will just sit and wait and watch. Worst case scenario, my cell contract will run dry next year and if ATT buggers up the nexus I can always migrate to TMO with a new contract...best case scenario...I can sell my current nexus to offset the cost of a new one that will take advantage of ATT's 3g...hopefully by then all those dreaded iphones will have moved on reducing the dropped call rate and slow 3g found in my area (seattle).
Two changes needed to support different 3G bands:
1. Antenna
2. Baseband firmware

Hey guys still a noobie so take er easy, just figured id ask. Since bell is releasing the atrix here in canada tomorow and everything ive read about the lack of upload speed on the att version of the atrix(which i have and can atest to lol) is directly related to the handset and not the network, cause im capped as well and im on rogers here. Can the software from the bell version be applied to the att version?
interesting idea
might work ...

This is unlikely, it is a radio issue.
Flashing the radio worked for the Captivate to get HSUPA and the Nexus One gets HSUPA stock.
a close friend of mine has had the phone since last thursday (mar. 10) i ran a speed test at her house and it was around 2.7mbps down and .5 mbps up and that was on a two bar connection.

i put a bell sim in my atrix (unlocked att phone) 5.85 mb/s down 0.3 up took the same sim and put it in an iphone and got identical download and 2.5 up speed. so now i know bells network is capable, so i guess well just wait

I'm really hoping its not capped. That way we can try and flash the US radio with the Bell radio. So far that is the only complaint I've had with the phone.
If anyone gets their hands on a Bell Atrix let me know. I can walk you through dumping the radio firmware from the device. Hopefully the Atrix will take it without having radio security turned off!

One the mods (from Canada) at Android Forums said that it is indeed uncapped, they got 1.5 to 2 Mbps up:
http://androidforums.com/motorola-atrix-4g/289470-bell-atrix-canada-2.html#post2432323
I remember all sorts of problems with flashing the Bell modem onto the Captivate when I still had it, like not able to be heard on a phone call. Did those issues all get worked out in the end?
@GermanGuy:
That was pretty much a conflict between the ROM in use, the Kernel in use, and the Radio in use (Cappyvate had a sound processor onboard that calls got processed through whereas the i9000 and others did not, so the components had to match up or you'd run into that issue)
Hopefully not a problem on Bell I'm mostly worried that the radio will be signed with a cert that the AT&T Atrix accepts!
Is the Bell modem HSPA+ capable, or is it strictly HSUPA/HSDPA?

does this have anything to do with the locked bootloader or is that a different issue? flashing a modem is possible even with a locked bootloader?

bell modem will have hspa+ since their network supports it.
Then let's hope it is flashable. Would solve at least one of my problems.
Today I went to a bell store to see if they had the atrix on display. They didn't, however there was a guy talking to one of the bell employees with something that looked like the laptop dock. So i go closer, and what do you know, its the atrix. I start talking to both gentlemen and one of them tells me he is from Motorola and he is showing the Bell staff how the accessories work. I asked to borrow his phone for a minute and ran a quick speed test. I got 2.3 mbps upload and 7.9 mbps download. My jaw dropped. Then i went inside his gallery app and saw that his pictures date all the way back to late December. He said the atrix has been his personal phone for a while now and he goes around to different parts of the country to demo the units. awesome job if you ask me.

Are you sure it was not connected to Wifi?
Is anyone using this phone with AT&T?
Currently, the OnePlus 3 IMEI is not registering with AT&T as an LTE device. As a result, the phone only connects to H if the IMEI is updated on AT&T's end.
I am hoping this is not the case with this phone. I pick mine up from Best Buy tomorrow.

Works perfectly for me, but I have a BYOD SIM, not a SIM taken from a contract phone. Put in my SIM before first boot of the phone. LTE immediately.
I'm on At&t and have no problems with LTE.
When I'm at work, my signal bars only show 2 bars whereas before, I had full bars...But my speed is better in that same area. I realize At&t branded phones sometimes make it appear to be a stronger connection, so this is probably "actual" signal. At home, I normally only have 1-2 bars, I have a steady 2 bars and better reception - even in the back of my house, where I usually drop signal on most of my past phones.
Also, I never have any issues with At&t when I want to register a new IEMI on my account, even though it still shows I'm making payments on an HTC M9 I got about a year ago. I've had about 6 or 7 phones in that time, they haven't said anything yet.

Thanks for your responses. I just got the phone this evening. Pulled the SIM from my OP3 and placed in the A7 prior to first boot. It immediately connected to LTE upon first boot.
However, once I rebooted my phone I lost connectivity to LTE. Only receiving "4G" now. What gives?? Have you all been able to maintain LTE connectivity across reboots?

Back in 2011-2012 in the US, AT&T and T-Mobile began marketing HSPA+ (which is technically a 3G technology) as "4G" in order to compete with carriers (Verizon, MetroPCS) that were rolling out actual LTE. They've both since rolled out LTE, marketed as "4G LTE", but keep referring to HSPA+ as "4G".
Oh i see... Thanks.
Here it's not like that. HSPA+ is branded 3G+ and LTE is either LTE or 4G
I'll have to drop by the ATT store this morning and see what they can do. Maybe a new SIM will help.

I stopped by the ATT store this morning and had a new SIM provisioned. When they used the A7's IMEI, I didn't get any data service. I had them re-enter the IMEI from my Nexus 6 and the phone works perfectly fine now...even after reboots.

I used to believe in this statement.. But when I walk around with a phone from Verizon (business), Srint (Personal) and AT&T hotspot service, I realized this is very not true.
There are locations where each carrier is stronger than others. At one of my job site, Verizon and AT&T fail to connect at all constant roaming and drop calls while Sprint skips along like no body cares.
Point, additionally, as each carrier acquire and deploy new bands, they need to be built out so the newer devices that support the bands can utlize it relieving the crowded older bands.
HOWEVER, this stupid phone, with SignalCheck Pro installed, I can see the bands I'm on but the signal stregnth is horrible, like at the moment, i'm connected to band 41 but LTE is at -117dBm, that's almost like not having signal at all. Likewise when I'm connected to band 25 and 26.
I tried disabling all those bands and force it onto the lower frequency with hardly any success.

It's not just you. There are multiple threads on Sprint's forums with users complaining. My phone constantly roams, the WiFi calling keeps timing out on location and though it says LTE most of the time data doesn't work. Lucky for me I keep a spare phone so I'll be switching back to my iPhone X until they resolve this but there's been no official word on any of this getting resolved so I'm not expecting a solution any time soon. I'm wondering if it was the update I installed that caused this because it seemed like day 1 the phone was ok. Maybe a solution is to use Odin and flash back to the original stock.

It's not just you. There are multiple threads on Sprint's forums with users complaining. They had me reset network settings which I did and it didn't help. They're sending me a replacement phone... Once I get it I'll prevent the Samsung update and see if that helps. Idk I really wanted to like this phone.

I have the sprint version purchased from S
Spent an hour with samsung to no resolution. Took my verizon sim and dropped it on the S10 and the phone was getting good signal and speed then dropped for a couple minutes then back to good speeds. But as it's doing this, the phone started to get very warm. Sprint tech support doesn't know crap, just make me repeat their written process multiple times and the guys at the sprint stores are just salesman.
Since the verizon seems shows intermitten connections as well, i'm going to see if samsung can send me a replacement.
I've been having my S10+ on Verizon which I got in March, constantly drop from 4G to 3G, to noG. I didn't have this problem with my S8+. It appears many other people that having the same problem with not only the S10+ but other S10s on other carriers as well. Supposedly Samsung is supposed to release a software fix, but Sprint is also having people return their S10+s and get replacements because supposedly many of the first ones made have a hardware issue causing this. Anyone on Verizon or other carriers having similar issues and any update on the fix software or return and get new phone or otherwise?

Sounds like the same problem I had on TELUS in Canada. Took it to Samsung and they told me they had to replace motherboard. Fought with them like cats and dogs and they refused to give me a new phone. After waiting over a month for them to fix it, I immediately sold it and bought a Huawei P30 Pro. Will never have another Samsung Phone after that fiasco...
Not sure. Supposedly the first few batches but I'm not sure of date ranges. All I know is this has been the worst reception of any phone I've had and it happens alll over. Drop LTE and if i hit Airplane mode on and then turn it off it comes back. In fact I just had to do that right now to reply.

I had drop LTE signal issue, sometimes lte won't come back until reboot the phone but after do a reset network settings my phone works significantly better:good:
Am having the same or similar issues my internet is working all fine and out of nowhere i loose internet while still having full signal bar. I tried airplane mode and nothing seems to bring back the internet only thing that works for me is a reset am on AT&T
This seems to effect all s10 models regardless of the carrier.
I have a Verizon s10 plus that I pre ordered.
My LTE will have poor speed and randomly not work even though the status bar shows a signal in spots with good Verizon coverage. I also noticed that my bluetooth will randomly disconnect from devices and is very glitchy. Also the battery life has been not great. Only about 5 hours SOT with lot of apps disabled and all settings adjusted for maximum battery life.
Also I noticed that if you go into settings/connections/mobile networks and observe the signal strength it is always either -120dbm 99asu or "not available" which is not good.
I Noticed the LTE issues after an update(not sure which one it was)
I tried Updating to the latest ASD9 and there is no improvement.
I did all the basic troubleshooting through verizon(new sim, provisioned the device again). No improvement
I reset the phone with no improvement, I flashed the factory firmware ASD7 with odin.... no improvement.
Finally I brought the phone to a local Samsung experience store.
They tried to run some tests but it would not complete them. They were well aware of the problems with sprint phones but were surprised to see these issues on a Verizon phone. Eventually they agreed to replace the motherboard but had an issue flashing the serial number to the new firmware so now finally im going to get a new phone. Fingers crossed, this has been such a headach
