No access to /Android/data with Android 11 - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

As the title says i don't have access to this folder anymore. Is it a new " security feature " in Android 11?
Unrooted Pixel 4, various file-managers, the obb folder seems to be empty too. Solutions / work-arounds are welcome. Thanks...

Same here. Pixel 4 android 11

I noticed that i can access the folder with Google's file manager, then " system traces " , i can read, delete, modify, but can't paste files in.

Just fyi, found out that Total Commander can read / write in /Android/data and /Android/obb.

[Q] Two Questions About the Google Nexus 7 (2012/32GB/Only WLAN)

Hello! I've got two questions that i've not been able to find on the whole XDA-Forums!
My First Question:
1.Is there ANY way to restore lost data under the followwing conditions?
· Crappiest AndroidVersion: 4.4.2/Kot49H
· Locked Bootloader, No Root
·Ahh, damn! Forgot what! I hate forgetting something! <---this text will be replaced by the conditions by edit or quote...
2. Wuestions about the AndroidManifest.xml
>Where is the Location on the device? For Free+Padi+System Apps
>Is there a way to back up ALL Android Manifests? (Free+Paid+Sýs - Applicationets) - ?
>
I searched for „Manifest" on the „ES File Explorer" in the Rôôt-Directory. 0 Results. But „AndroidSysteemInfo was /is able to display REALLY ALL AndroidManifests for all free and system and even the paid apps!

With the word „location" i mean the fldr (folder)path on the device.
In other words: Where can you find „AndroidManifest.XML" of a Free App on with ES File Explorer.
Where can you find „AndroidManifest.XML" of a Paid App on with ES File Explorer?
Where can you find „AndroidManifest.XML" of a System App with ES File Explorer?
I mean the File Path.
For Example: The Path of the Windoes-Explorer Application on Windows XP/Higher:
Usually the Operating System Does Being Stored on the C:\ Drive so=
C:\Windows\eXplorer.ExE
(I did edit this post. Before the EDIT the link wasn't working and looked like THIS: C:\Windows\eXplorer.ExE

Need root to access obb folder?

As title states, to access the obb folder, do I need to be rooted?
no you dont need to be rooted.
I dnt see the obb folder inside the Android folder.. its normally
Android > obb
what file manager are you using? Are you checking for the obb folder on the memory card or internal memory? What game/app are you trying to install that you need the obb folder?
S7 built-in file manager... and of course internal memory...
hmm it should be available by default try creating the folder and placing whatever game/app you want in side it.
doesnt seem to work... tried a few times with different app... just FCs
Out of interest, If you do not see it, You may not have an application thats created Obb.
This folder is not created unless a package is stored in here.
you can create it manually via file manager / file browser
(If you create it manually, there is every chance you need to set the permissions and assign it a group)
obb is owned by media_rw (Group id 1023)
The permissions on this folder are:
rwxrwx--- OR 0770 (Owner and Group Full read Write Execute)
If the folder exists and is hidden, the application will not allow you to create the folder.
Delete the folder and download one of the following from the store:
This should create the OBB folder
StarKnight
Brain it on
The Room 3
Thumb drift
Ilttle Drew
Odyssey
(Just some packages i have in Obb)

I'm using an s5 on RR 7.1.2 and I can't access obb. It's there but the folders inside are empty. And I can not move files into the directory.... I don't know why.

[Tool] Android Adb File Explorer

I'm an Android Developer and I need a tool support push pull data to mobile base on ADB commands. I search xda forum and found a tool at here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821601 .
But it have some problem and i developed a new tool with some advance features:
Attacted new adb version, high speed transfer for Android 7 or newer.
Support push, pull for multi files/folder.
Show more information of files/folders and sort data by name.
Don't freeze with large data.
Note: Current only support Windows.
Download: AndroidAdbFileExplorer.7z

Thank you for your app. Works very good.
Needs multi-file pull.
I tried to access /data so I clicked 'back' and everytime I choose a folder it trims 3 firsts symbols from selected folder.
Example:
I select folder named 'system' and in path I get /tem
I select folder named 'misc' and in path I get /c
I select folder named 'config' and in path I get /fig
I cannot edit filepath as it is not editable.
Please fix this
this is the only such application works!
broken and unusable. keeps thinking date and id is a path variable on every command,
This tool is lovely! Used it to move a ton of files from my Pixel on Pie to my PC so that I could do a full wipe and install of Android 10, then moved the files back. The speeds seem to be at least 10x faster using this than MTP over USB. Thank you so much!!!
works great for android tv.
Thanks broman
Thanks a TON !!!!!!!!!!
I used this software to backup various folders from the internal storage of my Moto G5 Plus and it worked flawlessly.
And the copy speed is too good to be true (but it is)
God bless you
This is the best method to transfer big amount of data from your phone. I had 35GB of photos and videos and this app transfer that quick and without any data corruption. MTP is not even close to that method. Thanks a lot!
FYI: I think this tool unfortunately doesn't really work under Android 11 any more, probably due to the new restricted storage access design by google.
Running an Pixel 2 with Beta RC3 and some files and folder won't be shown. For example the "camera" folder under "dcim" wont show at all.
Other files under downloads: some show, some don't.
Maybe you could look into it and fix it with an update? Was immensely usefull for copying pictures.
Thanks for your great work
Link/url is not working.
If can fix please.
Or if any other better File explorer after 3 years.
A new link would be great for me, too.
Anyone saved a copy of this? Also looking for a link

Found it on an old computer for you.
I still prefer using this app instead of "Android Studio", especially if I'm only using Android Studio just for file transfer (overkill 800+ megabyte download) whereas "Android ADB File Explorer" is less than 1 megabyte. I also find it a lot easier to move directories with subdirectories with "Android ADB File Explorer".
Android ADB File Explorer MEGA download link (file is untouched from original download in 7z): https://mega.nz/file/vhpFiQwb#PngUnnspu6VA2enWCN9t06kGYcWkugsA1qWXswKjbTY
I've converted the original 7z file to ZIP for attachment to this post. No other changes were made.
Edit: I don't have any issues on Android 11 moving multiple files and directories with this. Much, much faster than MTP
Edit 2: I encountered the Android 11 issue with missing subdirectories. I just copied the parent folder and the subdirectories that weren't displaying in "ADB File Explorer" still copied over anyways.

Is it still being maintained? I hope someone can add in the option to connect to ADB over WiFi (probably just another input field for IP address and change the adb connect command)

The developer of this utility hasn't logged into XDA in over four years, so my guess is that this isn't being maintained. However, "codinginthebigcity" has updated their "Watch Navigator" app in the Google Play store as recently as February 2021. So they may still be active in Android development. Their email [email protected] is listed in that app description if you want to pose your feature request directly to them.
Well the link is dead, so much for this.

[GUIDE] Disable WiFi logging on MIUI ROM

You must have noticed WLAN_LOGS folder in your internal storage with some files inside it taking up considerable amount of space. These files re-apppear even after deleting them. WLAN_LOGS : https://imgur.com/a/pq32N
After further digging I found out that MIUI devs have enabled (or should I say forgotten to disable) WiFi logging on the final build of MIUI ROM. WiFi logs are dumped as soon as you connect to any WiFi. This issue is present on official MIUI8, MIUI9 ROM and MIUI based custom ROMs such as Xiaomi.EU, MIUI Pro etc. as well.
How to disable WiFi log spam (needs root access) : Root here
Install any file manager app that supports root access such as Solid Explorer, MiXplorer
Open the app and grant root permissions
Go to the root folder > data > misc > wifi > cnss.diag.conf
Open it with the text editor and change the values as under
Code:
LOG_PATH_FLAG = 0
MAX_LOG_FILE_SIZE = 1
MAX_ARCHIVES = 1
LOG_STORAGE_PATH =
Save the file and reboot your phone. WiFi logging will be disabled permanently.
it's disabled now on xiaomi.eu 7.10.19 dev ROM.
Thanks a lot :good:
Thanks for the mod.
Can we do this with a magisk module ? Just in case
Hi all,
Just sharing my solution, I wanted to avoid rooting
So I deleted the folder wan_logs and created an empty file in internal root folder with the same name
So the system finds itself unable to create the folder and consequently can't create files in there
Seems to do the job

Sent from my Mi 6 using XDA Labs
On my Mi9 running MIUI 11 .conf file is located at /data/vendor/wifi and log files are at /data/vendor/wlan_logs

Edit system folder

Is there any way to mount/edit the system folder? I have Magisk installed but system folder is denied. I have read that on Native Android 10 devices the editing of the system folder is not possible. Is there any mod?
Not possible, really not much about it.
Ok thanks.. I wanted to edit the fonts..
