Android 11 has been officially released today for Pixel devices and a few other devices that use mostly stock software. https://www.theverge.com/2020/9/8/2...gle-pixel-oneplus-8-xiaomi-oppo-realme-update
Hopefully that will mean we won't have to wait much longer for a public one ui 3 beta. Last year betas opened up around 1 month after the official Google release. Sammy seems like they might be slightly ahead of last years schedule. Fingers crossed for public betas beginning in 2-3 weeks. It would likely only for for S20 line initially but the faster they get a beta the faster we get a beta.

Even tho ICS is mostly in the beta stage for the EVO 4G,Android 5.0 might be pushed out in the summer to beat windows to the punch on the realese of windows 8 for tablets so soon we might get some new goodies for Evo 4g and other devices.
Not likely, though Google execs implied that it could be rolling out in the fall.
"After Android 4 comes 5, and we haven't announced the timing yet, which we're still sorting out," Lockheimer said in an interview with Computerworld on Monday. "There's a lot of engineering work still behind it -- and there's also the question of how to time it.
"In general," he added. "the Android release cadence is one major release a year with some maintenance releases that are substantial still."
That statement would imply a fall 2012 release of Android 5.0, given that Android 4.0 was released last November, he acknowledged.

Summer would be cool though
Google will most likely try to get 5.0 out close to the time win8 and the iphoney 5 are released to compete with them im thinking probably early to mid summer since last year we had 2 releases gb at beginning of year and ICS towards the end 5.0 was actually put into development shortly after ICS was but is apparently alot more complex than any previous builds and may even be capable of running on other platforms such as home computers similar to win8

Hey,
While they might complete android 5.0 early they wont release it till other phones with windows and Ios put out their new software just to keep the market competitive, as cool as it would be to get it early! But we just are getting ics, so we can wait for the latest greatest!

Sony announced a new release time table...
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/product...1-xperia-smartphones-starting-from-mid-april/
I'm a little disappointed that it is delayed, We're getting ours late May early July.
Also what is your opinion on the Beta ROM?
I will put my money on that the play will be discontinued before there ever is an official ics release, not including beta.
A full year is pretty old in a cell phones life. A new one comes out every few weeks. I think they are becoming so heavily produced, they are almost at the point where high end phones are disposable.
Hi,
First apologies for the long text but I'd like to eco some of the frustration around this awful topic of Android upgrades. And perhaps put in text some of the frustration of many Android users like us.
The subject goes like this: Google rushes to release a new Android version each year. After the release, the OEMs like Samsung, Huawei and others rush to release it to (some of) their devices.
Now a couple of months after the initial release, Google comes and fixes a bunch of issues of that initial release and add a bit more functionalities -- some are important bugs like the Bluetooth in Oreo. It happened with Nougat, Oreo and perhaps before if someone wants to check.
Keeping the same logic, the OEMs would need to do that second update to, at least, fix the bugs... But no. Seems we're stuck having those bugs and lucky if a newer Android version comes along.
I believe the Mate 9 will get Android P but perhaps (again) suffering from the same illness: initial release gets pushed and bugs on a Android P.1 will never come...
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have Oreo. But is there a major effort to at least take the next step of releasing the "final stable" Android version...? The 8.1, 9.1, X.1... Is this fair to the people that invested so much money in a device?
A last note here. I've a PC that I bought some 12 years ago. Initially it ran Windows Vista. Yesterday I've update it to Win 10 18.03. Latest release. I've heard people saying "well, you paid a lot for that PC and smartphones are disposable devices". Not true; perhaps the PC price was a bit higher but the Mate 9 was close at 800 Euros. The PC is still getting update after all these years. The Mate 9, perhaps one more update...
Thoughts?
You make good points about bug fixing, especially Bluetooth.
Well, unfortunately, everything up to the mate 10 might "suffer" from the problem all android phone suffer from.
If you think about it, it kind of goes against the business model of the manufacturer & carrier, to spend the time to
update each device, to a newer version of anything, be it an OS update or security patch. I'm sure they try to check
to make sure the patch/update doesn't brick the phone, but in their minds, why bother when most people typically
toss their phones every 24 months or less. (not me!). From the carriers stand point, it's easy to get people to upgrade
their phones, "for free" if they lock into a contract, or, purchase a phone for less than 50 bucks a month or some such
thing.
But, hopefully, if project treble holds true, those days will be gone in a cuple years as GOOGLE will have more control
over the major/minor updates, and leave the "bloat/UI" updates to the manufacturers & carriers.
I do not think it has 8.1 directly update to Android P.
Mate 8 will receive Oreo, so it's safe
The android 10 official update yet to rollout.
Other non android one phones have rolled out android 10 for their devices . It feels so bad Mi a2 being android one phone still have no any official announcement regarding that. Even they do not have any roadmap for the release.
The December 2019 security patch has rolled out leading with a major Chrome bug inside that.
Since October Google had pushed the update from their side, but xiaomi is taking a lot of time in rolling out the update.
Also their is no beta version rolled out for the same for android 10.
Kindly the senior devs please spread this post to xiaomi, so that they will look into this.
Thankyou.
That surely is the last Xiaomi device I'm going to ever buy. Completely disappointed. The main reason I picked this "Apple boldness" device is the Android one project, second the price. Now I know it was kind of a waste of money for what I wanted and needed from a smartphone. Even Samsung are rolling out Android 10 with a lot more of useful resources sooner, when not, they offer roadmaps and news about it. Putting aside its stable security patches releases even for A5 2017, month after month, my previous daily driver.
Is that released, if yes may someone paste the download link here for sure to be tester
i think they first release in South Korea and then other countries and then go/apply/access via Samsung member app
Hopefully we get it soon lol

Yes If you own a s21. Unfortunately no news on there being a beta for note 20.
Might be delayed til October for S21 family.
One UI 4.0 beta delayed till October over bug concerns with stable Android 12 potentially set for late December release
Samsung has yet again delayed the start of the One UI 4.0 beta program, but this time till October. Apparently, the company is taking its time with bug-fixing, a decision that will likely see the Android 12 stable release put off until late December or early January.

Hope so... There wasn't a new Note this year, so Note 20 still must be the actual mode. At least, I think so. I'm ready to catch the beta, once is out. If everything work like have to, ofcourse haha
You really want to torture yourself with a slow, buggy beta. Some of your apps may or may not work, good lock modules will be non functional. Any custom theming with synergy/hex won't work if you use that. I did it last year with the previous note and don't think I'll be doing it this time.
Also, note, the official way to sign up is through Samsung Members app. If you sideload the beta, you're completely on your own.
Any update on beta availability for the N20U?

Sadly no, they're working on opening the beta to the s20 series now, so we should be next hopefully by the end of the month, if not, probably not until official release by the end of the year

Sadly the note series seems to be repalced with the Z-Flip 3 and Z-Fold 3 this time round. They will be getting the beta next. No news of the Note series getting beta....

Of course they would do that ... I think they are starting to pass a lot of people off with this mentality of killing the note in favor of a inferior foldable bull****
