wcn 3990 is using wifi card. Redmi note 8 When pulling 4 teeth, this device sometimes drops to 3 teeth, but mbps speed is more than poco x3. I don't understand ?. I had mi 9 lite before, it has the same wifi card but its shooting is very bad.
I have a gigabyte internet connection and a Tenda AC23 router. My Poco X3 reaches about 620 Mb/s on 5 GHz band (obviously!) which is great in my opinion. The signal is full in all my apartment (55 square meters) with brick walls.
Mine is good. 2gz & 5ghz. Switches "smart bulb" on/off on 2ghz upstairs from down stairs. U. K. Global, talktalk router, 2 & 5 auto switch.
Far better WiFi strength then my Xiaomi A2 lite.
Last week I bought the Poco X3 NFC (currently not rooted on MIUI Global 12.0.4). Big beautiful phone, but Wifi is truely disappointing. As the pictures show wifi is buggy (it looses connection, then connects again, and so on) compared side by side to my rooted Redmi Note 8 Pro on debloated MIUI Global 12.0.5. The latter phone runs great, wifi is stable with 4 dents most of the time. Both phones are connected to the same router (2.4 & 5 Hz) at about 8 meters. I have tried everything from resetting networks, to router, etc. The problem only dissapears if I get closer to the router. I am considering returning the phone to Xiaomi.
On the left Poco X3 NFC, on the right Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Yes... same situation with my X3 European stock firmware 12.0.4
WiFi is ridicolous (5Ghz a real drama) but also with mobile data, H+ works 1/20 times, 4G or 4G+ in upload has a bandwith from 0,1 Mb to 1,5,Mb where other phone with same position and same provider has connection always > 15 Mb
I don't know if anyone with latest beta stable firmware 12.0.6 or custom fw has a lot of problems like us
Same here. I have two poco x3. One from xiaomi store online. One from ebay.
Both new.
The one from xiaomi store had software version 12.0.4 but I got updates to 12.05./12.0.6 and 12.0.7 right away. Didn't recognize wifi issues with 2,4ghz or 5ghz before the updates and not now .
The one from ebay has software version 12.0.4 and no updates available yet. It has issues with 5ghz wifi. When I'm near the router everything is fine. As soon as I walk to the next room it only has 2 bars left. Although it's just about 3 meters away. And if it lies on the table it disconnects and is not able to connect again until I lift it up again or go near the router. 2,4ghz wifi is much better.
So I don't know if it will work better after an update to 12.0.7. Or even higher with Android 11. But i'm thinking of returning it. It's just 2 days old.
EDIT:
I manually updated to latest beta? 12.0.7 build and I have full bar 5ghz wifi now. I switched to 2,4ghz before the update because of better signal strength and after the update it automatically used my 5ghz wifi again. So it seems to be solved!
On Ecuador my phone is unable to use 80mhz bandwidth, I've already filled a bug report and sent a couple of emails.
Link speed next to the router should be 866mbps, I can reproduce this by rebooting the phone in airplane mode but as soon as it reads the SIM card country code gets set to ec.
I can get my 75/75mbps bandwidth all the time but the phone should be capable of using 80mhz all the time since it's more airtime efficient.

The same network when the phone is on airplane mode
Workaround if 80mhz is not working in your country
1. Turn on airplane mode
2. Change region to United States
3. Turn off airplane mode
4. Fill a bug report
You need to repeat this each time you reboot

I rate the wifi performance on poco x3 NFC 8.5/10
My overall rating after trying MIUI & several custom ROMs is 6/10.

What all speed are you guys connected at? Apparently it's supposed to be a Wireless-N capable chip in the TF, correct?
I am only achieving a link speed of 72Mbps. But it feels much much slower when transferring large files... or, is it my imagination?
It only has 2.4 ghz N not 5 ghz N. 5 ghz N goes up to 300 mbps, 2.4 tops out at 130 mbps.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Thanks. Then I am still not achieving that speed (130mbps). I'm only getting 72. Wonder what is up with that.
same here @72. i check to make sure i my router set only to N (i understand having it set to G/N will cause the speed to get capped even lower, but nope, it's pure n)
I don't need a signature.
someone correct me if im wrong, but my understanding is that all devices in your network need to be "N" capable in order to achieve close to maximum speeds. If you have a laptop running on g' then by default your network run on g speeds.
Not sure if this might be the case here
I know my Linksys can transmit two different wireless signals. One signal is on "B/G" mode and the other signal is on pure "N" mode. Still it only connects at 72MBPS
The transformer and Android devices in general seem to be a bit slow in transferring large files. It might be do to smaller packet sized, inefficiencies in the Wifi stack, filesystem, or other factors. I think any reasonable rate of Wifi link speed is going to suffice. I do not detect much of a difference in actually throughput as I move through the house and the Link speed changes.
Yup. 72Mbps here too on a Linksys e2000 running dd-wrt. Same on my HTC Desire.

Interesting that others are getting 72Mbps. I can't get more than 65Mbps, regardless of whether my network is configured for BGN or N only. That's with the tablet as close as two feet from the router, and no other networks visible (low density residential area, so likely not too much interference). Tried standard (20Mhz) and wide (40Mhz) channels, as well. Signal strength shows as excellent, but nothing gets me above 65Mbps.
That said, speed seems fine to me. Range could be better, my laptop will happily pick up wifi for almost double the distance of my Transformer, but inside the house it works pretty reasonably anywhere on either floor.
How is it false advertising? They said Wireless N, it supports wireless N. They never said it supports wireless N @ 300mbps .
EDIT: And before anyone tries to argue, no, Wireless N connection classification just says up to 300mbps supported, not that it has to be 300mbps, it's a frequency not a speed classification.
Max speed is 65 . 6 FEET away from my dlink dir 655

Sadley yes, the transformer is only able to achieve 72Mbps wireless N speeds
In a previous thread i started (Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068468)
In short Wireless N gets its major speed increase from using multiple channels (MIMO) and the increase in bandwidth between channels 20 Mhz or 40 Mhz
There is no difference in speeds between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, 5Ghz is ideal due to the least amount of interference in that RF spectrum but the downside is that 5Ghz does not go as far as 2.4Ghz
Anyways
Here is a chart for reference

Wireless N Link speeds are usually organized by the MCS Index number in FCC documents, and in the FCC documents for the Transformer it maxed at MCS7 index which is 72.2 Mbps (20mhz channel width, 1 MIMO stream)
MCS Index Chart
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_N#Data_rates
FCC Reports: See SAR Report 1 of 4
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...ame=N&application_id=434077&fcc_id='MSQTF101'
We wont know for sure what a firmware update might fix, which i doubt that is a solution for it anyway, i think its a hardware limitation, but just need to confirm the WLAN chip on the transformer
The FCC documents state its a Murata LBEH19UQJC, but in the various files in the transformer it has clues to suspect its a Broadcom chip, we need a full teardown!!
Overall, the transformer could have seen higher speeds if
A: It allowed a 40 Mhz Channel instead of 20 Mhz
B: It included a 2nd antenna
For some routers like my dlink dir-655 you need to configure to wpa2 and aes and auto channel to get 300mb/s connections.
Sitting within a few feet of my router (Linksys E2000, 802.11n), I am geting 9000 Kbps down and 2000 Kbps up. We're on Comcast Blast!(16000/2000).
Speed means battery drain, so most mobile devices support 802.11n and doing a big step forward in speed, but the standard it self allows 600 MBits in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Most mobile devices suppport only low MCS rates that max out in 72.2 MBits. Did you see an 600 MBit capable AP /router lately?
It is great to have 11n but even the ipad supports only one stream and 72 MBit. Even Cisco delivers in their enterprise gear only 300 MBits not 450 like some others. So be happy with the speed it got, i am sure that the CPU would not be able to handle more than that.

get 40mbps sometimes on the nexus 5 as shown in video but often struggle even maintaining connection with N3. have tweeted samsung and will wait a few days and if isnt sorted then will seek full refund under the sale of goods act Uk as this device isnt fit for the purpose as even 4y old devices like the HTc desire had better wifi connections and speeds than the N3. My s4 is great though on same network. The N3 struggles with wifi with every network i have tried and all networks give the unstable connection or network error warnings and even speedtests fail often to complete. tried the dialer test menu for switching off wifi power saving and makes no difference, also tried switching off mobile data to see if that makes a difference but no difference at all. Looks like the device keeps cycling wifi on and off all the times, one second i get 20mbps next second the connection is gone, youtube buffering all the times websites load slow, getting fed up of this expensicve device. havent used such a buggy device in a long while. streaming youtube is my daily use case scenario and this wifi issue is making that untenable.
uploads work great on the N3 and get 17mbps upload speeds but downloads struggles often at 2mbps or 0.5mbps as shown in the video

Found the solution to the samsung galaxy note 3 wifi issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjL8JbSQCvw&
It is **** software from samsung but can get around via disabling default settings as mentioned in the video and am getting 52 mbps now ? Earlier was struggling to view hd youtube videos as always buffering and cut outs and now blistering speeds ?
Disabled that AGES ago. It helps with some issues but not other issues that persist.
Best test is to download from LAN. AKA from a desktop folder that's been shared on the network.
did you fix it?
hey guys do you have any solution to this?
i have the same problem..my speed on wi-fi is just 1.5 to 3 Mbps
I don't find any problem using my Note 3 SM-N9005 on wi fi.
However I always use 5Ghz band at home as this gives higher throughput.
83Mbps down 12 Mbps up

Information!
OOKLA SPEEDTEST shows since the KitKat 4.4.2 Update wrong results.
The Wi-Fi speed is not around 5 Mbits as shown!!
Check your speed with other Apps and you will see it.
Also try this:
Set GPS ON and check your Wi-Fi speed again with OOKLA SPEEDTEST.
Maybe you will get the same good Speed back.

I use mine for downloading quite a lot, including torrents and usenet, but I've never noticed wifi issues. Running stable at 19,97Mbps at the moment (On a 20Mbps subscription.)
Sitecom Access Point set to channels 3 and 11, 2.4Ghz
Might be worth mentioning I have it set to static, and not dhcp.
That said, I haven't had any of the connectivity issues people mention from day 1.....
I had issues from the day one, but after I updated my router firmware (it was somehow set not to update), my Note 3 runs about 23 Mbs on 25Mbs network, download (don't care about upload since I don't do it often), pretty solid considering I have 3-5 other devices hooked up to it.

This is very important for me, since I usually go to areas with low coverage.

I have only had mine on Cellular today, but tested data rate on speedtest app at work. A good signal (4G+, where my OPO 3 only got 4G) and 66 Mb/s down and 55 Mb/s, up which is better than my 4G internet modem at home. So good data connection with good signal!
When I get to try it in more rural areas, I'll return and report the experience. I have a feeling that it will perform at least decent.

If by dual 4G you mean carrier aggregation then the answer is yes it does as it has one of the most advanced modems in the market CAT18.

No, no phone can do that, have both SIM cards with dedicated radio modules, only one SIM card/operator can be used for mobile data at any one time. it can be register on GSM for both SIM cards, with different and same operator.
not bad
Mate 10
Made a test with line of sight to the 4G Antenna (about 60 meters) and got a pretty good result. I don't think the Mate 10 (ALP-29) is crippled when it comes to LTE
LTE works but sometimes I must on 800MHz BTS about 1-5 minutes to switch from edge to 4G. Any firmware this not solved. I have 142 FW EU.

Even that post is 1 year old, we need to clarify one thing:
- on Mate 10 Pro both SIMs can run on 4G (or 4G+) !!! In the same time.
Most of the dual sim phones are running with one SIM in 4G and the second SIM running in 3G or 2G.
But here both SIMs ca run in 4G/4G+ simultaneous; the phone is 4G dual stand-by, probably are you thinking at the dual sim dual active phones (like Huawei P9, for example), where you can call from the SIM1 to the SIM2 (both SIMs into the same phone).
And if we are talking about 9.0 vs 9.1, on 9.1 the signal is weaker than on 9.0 (in the same place, where the building has very thick walls, and where the signal fluctuates sometimes).
In areas with good signal there are no problems on 9.1 either
I just picked up a Samsung Tab A and noticed it only gets ~200 - 250 Mbps down when the rest of my devices are getting my advertised speed of 400 Mbps. They all have the same wifi standards so I'm not sure why I'm not getting my full bandwidth on this tablet. All the tests were done on the 5Ghz SSID and right next to the router.
Devices I've tested on:
Desktop 1 (Hardwired and wireless)
Desktop 2 (Wireless)
MacBook Pro 2017
iPhone X
iPad 2
Testing sites:
speedtest.net
fast.com
They're all showing 400+ Mbps except the tablet.

Is this a defective tablet or normal? I'm not particularly complaining about the speeds I'm getting now but I just want to make sure that this isn't a defect.
I saw another user complaint about it to.
He had speed problems with 5Ghz and with 2.4Ghz it was better
~200 - 250 Mbps is a good value, my T510 gets only ~150 Mbps download and (which is interesting) ~280 Mbps upload - tested with speedtest.net app on 5Ghz WiFi. On 2,4Ghz WiFi is the situation a bit worse ~50/50Mbps only. And my wired internet speed is 500/500 Mbps.

I'm not particularly complaining about the speed I'm getting but more curious if this was something wrong with the tablet. All the devices including the Tab A are 802.11 n which should mean they are capable of 600 Mbps on 5 Ghz band. All the other devices did it without issue yet the Tab A wasn't able to.
I picked up a replacement TaB A and it gets the same speeds. I uploaded a video of it as well.
It seems like you all are discussing the wi-fi performance without listing one important spec, how many transmit or receive streams does the Tab A (2019) support? Samsung doesn't list anywhere in its literature how many wi-fi steams it supports, but given it's a low-end device, I am willing to bet something that it only has 1x1 steam. The iPhone X comes with 2x2 steams and the MacBook Pro comes with the unprecedented 3x3. The rest of performance equation depends on how well the internal antennas are designed and other factors. And we all know, after the Tab S5e Wifi problems, that even Samsung can't sometimes design antenna for proper operation (the Huawei Mediapad M5 also had wifi problems because of using the same antenna for wifi and BT).
A 1x1 802.11ac device can link up with the router up to 400Mbps, but in real life this number is MUCH lower even when in the same room with the router (you can check this number in the wifi settings by tapping the SSID). And then, a whole lot of that bandwidth lost because wi-fi wastes a lot of it on its own transmission record-keeping. As a result, it's entirely fine to see 150Mbps in a bandwidth test even though you're linked to a router at say 250Mbps.

The Tab A (2019), and others listed above should have 802.11ac, not n. 600Mbps was a theoretical peak for 802.11n with a 40Mhz channel width ONLY with a 4 streams, and such devices never materialized. A typical 802.11n device had one stream, or two, so the cap was at 150 or 300 respectively. The cap for link speed of 802.11ac devices with two streams is 800ish.

It seems like you all are discussing the wi-fi performance without listing one important spec, how many transmit or receive streams does the Tab A (2019) support? I actually had no idea about the number of antennas. Everything I've read and what you've said have pointed to the Tab A having a 1x1 stream and I can live with that. Just had my head scratching for few days.
Thank you it's much appreciated.
Hi All, I have the same problem with t510. Thank all for the infos and clearing this topic.
Sadly my wifi speed is around 66 mbps and and I getting half of that on my tablet is plain s*it. Just tried nvidia now on my tablet and that was when I realised this problem. Got 540p with like 10fps.. Shame on samsung to go so cheap on the wifi chip.. :\
My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) SM-T510 simply refused to work properly on 5Ghz wifi, no matter what I did.
My solution was to go into my router device's admin page, and create two seperately named network SSIDs for the different frequencies:
- My 2.4Ghz Wifi network
- My 5Ghz Wifi network
I set the tablet to only use "My 2.4Ghz Wifi network", and no issues since.
We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Sony Xperia 1 II's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
Struggling with mine. On O2, 35Mbps on speed test, but buffering trying to watch 1080p on YouTube, let alone 4k!
Tried missus Vodafone sim, on her phone getting 60/70Mbps, on my Xperia, 35Mbps max.
No idea why speed is so low and I can't even watch 1080p!!?
Uninstalled YouTube updates. Old version appears to work fine on 4g
I get 207 Mb download speed on 4G. I'm on Youfone in The Netherlands, it uses the KPN network.
I tried the missus Vodafone again. Connected to LTE+ and 214Mbps download.
100mb/s from inside my home with 2 bars 5G
130mb/s inside my home with 2 bars 4G+
Pushing 27mb/s from inside my home with 1 bars 5G
pushing 87mb/s inside my home with 0 bars 4G+
I guess it is because my provider is sharing the back end for 4g and 5g and has less bandwidth reserved for 5G since I'm in a city
250mbs on WiFi (5) which is the max from my provider
https://twitter.com/olkitu/status/1277254257805266944 Got 1Gbps speed in Elisa 4G-network.
In Poland T-Mobile.pl 4CA(10+10+10+15MHz), 256QAM and MIMO 2x2

And WiFi 6 max speed is 500 Mb/s is the max from my provider.
Very good for me on Vodafone in the UK. Reliable signal strength and call quality (tone) is nice also
I'm on Vodafone now instead of O2. Much better!
I've moved across from EE to Voda and I'm utterly dissapointed. Awfully slow!
Perhaps im misreading the signal strength bars but mine is always grey (no white bars), although installing a signal measuring app tells me my signal is good.
Speedtest shows 4Mbps & 0.60Mbps good thing I have fast internet at home.
Not tested out and about due to lockdown perhaps when I go to work things will get better.

I can confirm this too. My signal bars says I've got 1/4 bars (so around 25%), yet Network Signal Info says I've got 46%
Yep, the signal strength i.e. bars on the phone, appears to be lower than my other phones. On Vodafone in the UK, indoors on my iPhone i get 3bar LTE signal strength, on the Xperia 1 II I have no signal !! It's not looking good.
However start doing speed tests over LTE and I get folling results:
iPhone 11: Down- 11.5Mbps - Up - 7.24
Xperia 1 II: Down 13.9Mbps - Up - 8.31
I think Sony need to recalibrate their signal strength indicator.
Getting crazy numbers on O2 5G like 250mbps. 4G is quite good as well in my area but its in the 20-30mbps range.
My tests without CC aggregation are 15/10Mbit
With Carrier aggregation 105/1Mbit
Unfortunatelly it is really 1Mbit upload, even if I am 90m from BTS and have full singal, measured on 3 places - 3 BTS not overloaded (I am working for my mobile operator), same results. The only place where carrier aggregation is no problem is directly before BTS (about 15m). Seems like low power transmitter. I had my phone on repair twice, some things are better now, but still not good for the money.
