I purchased a KD-12116 unit from a guy who was the second owner. Neither owner had it for more than 3 weeks. Everything works on the unit except the USB ports. I have tested the cables and the +5v and GND are working but the data lines remain non-functional. The previous owner says they worked when he had the unit. So short of going through Paypal to get my money back I am trying to get USB on this unit working. It has the KD-ZXW-MB main board and is a PX6 64GB storage w/ 4GB ram. I have opened the top cover and see some headers that could possibly be USB but without a schematic it is hard to tell. Does anyone know of maybe a setting that could be turned off or have a schematic of this motherboard that I can find another USB header on?
Take a photo of what you have under the lid. We will compare with other models KD.

I am hoping that C129 4-pin connector is a USB header and I can find a corresponding plug end easily for it.

Thank you. I have been through that entire thread at least 3 times and did not see anything but this time I saw the last post on the first page had where someone soldered to C129 and it was USB. I will try to find a plug that matches it and see if I can get it working. Thank you!

I would recommend that you examine the microcircuit, there are two of them near your specified contact. One of these microcircuits is USB HUB 2.0, maybe the problem is in it. If you yourself do not have sufficient knowledge of checking the performance of microcircuits, then contact a specialist in the workshop. This will be more productive and will save you a lot of problems. Perhaps the microcircuit is OK, but there is a bad soldering of the contacts. And because of this, there is no normal USB operation.

I am believing this is the issue. I made an adapter to plug in to the motherboard USB header and the same issue presents itself. USB gets power but no data. I am trying to contact KLYDE for warranty information.

I don't think you will be able to solve this problem under warranty. You did not purchase this device from Klyde. If I understood you correctly, you are already the third owner of this device. You will not be able to prove that you bought a radio tape recorder from Klyde, they will easily check it. And, they will not be responsible for the actions for the actions of the previous owners of the radio. And you have already opened the seal on the lid. You should look for a good specialist to understand your problem.

Hi there
I have broken recently the USB connector at the bottom of the device. Managed to replace it with a good one but one of the pads is broken of the board. Has anyone got a schematics of it or know where the USB connection point are? It does charge but is not recognised by ActiveSync
THanks
Here you have the Charmer Service Manual:
http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC Charmer_Service_Manual.pdf
thanks for that. However, there is no schematics in this manual. I have already replaced the connector but one of the pins has come of the board. Need a point on board to connect it to. It is the second pin from left looking at the connector facing you.
Thanks
Got to ask,did you get the same USB connector? as i looked and could not find the same one,in the end i replaced it with a smaller one,as for your problem,I have taken mine apart and had a good look round,on the underside there is what looks like a point you could try,it's right where the second pin is,how you would solder there is a tuff one but thats the only thing i can see.
Thanks to your reply. I have notice it and did solder but did not do anything. Can you possibly buzz the connector to the point around and just check which one of them to connect to. I have tried with MDA I but it is complitly different board.
Thanks
I will have a try for you over the next few days, kinda busy with a move going on,just to make sure i'm looking at the right pin,it's the second one along as you look from above going left to right?
failing to load the zipped pic. Only up to 2 MB - should be 8 mb max
As you are looking at the pins connected to the board it is the second one from left. For other people's use if you get all 3 ot them on pic should somebody else need it. If you cannot get the pic I will try to upload the pic tomorrow.
Thanks for your effort
the pic of broken pad
As promissed here is the pic. It's the second pad from left
Thanks
Lonegunman, are you still with us?
Still here, have done a few tests to see if i can pin point a place for you but not had much luck, problem being my one is working, what i will do at some point is remove pin 2 from mine and see if i can find a point, just for your info the pin you are missing is the data -, so as you say it will charge but not sync.
thanks..... Dont think you need to remove it. If you got the multimeter you can measure resistance from that pin to anything around it. when resistance is zero it is defo a point I can connect it to.
Thanks for your effort once again
anyone willing to help please
please...someone has an open charmer. All I need is someone to buzz the second pin to a place on the board
Sorry been busy on loads of other thing (repairing a plasma TV is no fun i can tell you)anyway if your uk based PM me you address i should have a spare one i can post over to you for you to try and work out what you need.
pm sent. thanks
Special thanks to lonegunman who kindly sent me his MDA and help to repair it. The data pin connects to SM resistor just above it.
Thanks lonegunman again
I have a Samsung Vibrant T959 TMobile US with 2.1-update1, Baseband T959UVJI6.
The battery is fully charged, it registers in the phone as fully charged 100%, but when I hit the power button I get a progess wheel that gets stuck, then the phone just turns off. It never gets passed that wheel, it only displays for a second then dies.
However, when I plug in the USB and hit the power button, it comes right up like it should. Then I can unplug the usb and use the phone just fine. Its almost as if I need to jump-start the phone with a power source.
I have reset the phone, even re-flashed the stock firmware using Odin. Same results. I have even swapped batteries with a buddy just to see if that was the case, but I still got the same results.
Any advice or suggestions is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks Very Much In Advance!
Anybody? Any ideas?
Well, that is new to me...
I'll preface with, I have no clue how/why that is happening. But, this is what I would do:
1 - If really opposed to rooting, I'd call T-Mo / Samsung and get a replacement.
2 - If I liked my phone and wanted to make it better, I'd root it and flash a custom ROM. It likely would take care of the issue, as it clearly is not a hardware thing (well, I say clearly).
Worst case with #2, ODIN back to stock and then do option 1.
possible solution
also it says "USB connected" even when cable is unplugged? I had similar problem.. I tried everything, flashing, changing batteries.. none of that was useful. Then I find some post on some forum that says it might be corrosion, so i scratched my USB with thin wire and everything worked fine, but also scratching USB I was doing one more thing. In my opinion, I think that it's not corrosion. I think that USB is slightly bent (middle part of it), try to bent it in other direction, possible that it's too close to edge. That solved my problem. Tell me if this helpful for you, sorry about my english

i think i can get what you are saying, cleaning the usb port on the phone right??
BUT how does this affect turning the phone on?? if usb port is rusty, it will only affect charging, not turning the power on?
I experienced this identical issue last fall -- the USB would always say it was connected, wouldn't startup unless connected to actual USB, but otherwise worked fine.
Take your phone apart and look at the solder joints on your microUSB port... mine all had cracks in them or had broken free. I re-flowed the solder while holding the port down and it resolved my issues. (put on some flux, and run a hot soldering iron across the joints, clean up... it's not very difficult. just be sure you don't short out any of the pins.) I also added additional solder to the four points that just hold the mircoUSB to the circuit board. It's been rock solid since

See if there is a TV or electronic repair place still in business in your area. Or post an ad on CL asking someone with knowledge and skill to do it. Be careful they aren't an idiot just wanting 20 bucks and happen to own a soldering iron.

you could see if Cell Phone Repair/ is near you and describe to them what you want to do.
I would go through these guys they are top notch helped me when i soft bricked my wife's phone. He even convinced me that i could fix it myself when i was ready to send it to them for a jtag.
They can replace the usb plug if thats the issue.
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-vibrant/
I would test to see if my battery is bad first before i went about resoldering, it could easily be a bad battery.

i bought another ribbon cable with 22 pins and while soldering it to the board of the usb the solder on it made bridges in some places and other places the solder came out it and dosn't adhere to the board any more so i am asking for the layout of the board so i can directly solder the ribbon cable to the micro usb pins

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S5 and I was hoping to find some help here.
When I got up this morning I unplugged my S5 from its charger. However, it was turned off which is usually not the case as I usually don't turn it off. After trying to switch it on for several times and failing with it, I asked Google for help.
What I found after some research was a hint that it might be a problem with either the battery, the charging cable or the mainboard that has been damaged/burned.
Long story short, after some testing (tried a new battery and charging cable) and going to two different repair shops, it turned out it probably is the mainboard. (I'm writing 'probably' because I don't trust those shops 100%. I left my phone at the second shop for about 2.5 hours though, for error diagnostics).
Nevertheless, what I want your help with are these three questions:
1. If there really is a problem with the mainboard, how can I find it all by myself? Is there a way to tell it apart? And is there a way of telling which (more or less) exact part/entity of the mainboard has been damaged?
2. Let's say the mainboard is damaged. Is it possible to fix it? And by fixing I don't mean to just replace the mainboard, but really fixing it. (Ofc I know it might depend on the part that has been damaged, this is why I asked Question #1).
3. Assuming there is no (feasible) way to repair that mainboard. How can I possibly save the data stored on the internal memory? Is there any Software available that can still read the storage? Or do I have to physically move the memory chip to a functioning mainboard, e.g. by soldering?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

My personal opinion would be that one or both of the following may have happened.
1) Bad Charger - Chargers can go bad without any warning that resulted in your battery going dead.
2) Bad Battery - Also can just go bad suddenly or over time.
The motherboard of your device has a type of regulator that will only allow a certain amount of voltage/amperage to pass on to the battery. It's extremely rare for a proper charger to kill a motherboard (unless jumper cables were involved LOL!).
Your best bet is to replace both the battery and the charger but, this is only a suggestion/recommendation.
I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you very much. Unfortunately using a new battery and a new charger didn't solve the problem. And my charger is still in use for my backup phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy S2, and it's still working fine.
So it appears it really narrows down to some physical damage on the board.
After some more reading I found out that professional data recovery uses eMMC adapters for their SD card slot, as eMMC is downwards compatible to MMC. Unfortunately those adapters come at a cost of 85-230$, which of course is still cheaper than paying for professional data recovery, yet too expensive for having no actual clue how it even works. I still didn't figure out what the data will look like once I get access to the memory chip. Will I have to use an android emulator to get to the data? Will I have to use some special recovery tool to read the memory? Or is the eMMC already formatted in such a way that Windows can easily read it?
Anyway, what I'll try now is the cheapest method that came to my mind: mounting the eMMC on some sort of USB stick, that I found on aliexpress for 5$+shipping (it's called "USB3.0 eMMC 153 169 U disk PCB NS1081 main controller without flash memory for recycle emmc emcp chips").
I hope this will suffice to read the memory, somehow.
Any comments on this?

Unfortunately Motherboards can go bad suddenly too but, there's a few options.
Option 1) You can try buying a USB JIG from eBay for $3-5, it's a tool designed to force your device into download mode. It isn't guaranteed to work but if it does you can flash the firmware. If it doesn't then you only lose $5.
Option 2) You can see if there's a friendly and helpful individual at an official service center for your device for a JTAG service. Though it isn't guaranteed to work but, some may do it for nothing while others can charge up to $50 +/-. The fees are all individually determined by them. Some have the JTAG service there while others require it to be shipped to another shop to repair them and then ship it back to you.
Option 3) You can always purchase another compatible motherboard and put the new one in your device. This is an option you can do yourself if you're careful.
These options/suggestions are the best that I can think of at this time and I hope one of those will work out for you.
Good Luck!

I have a OnePlus 5 with broken usb-mic connector on the motherboard (FPC). I'd like to restore the charging functionality and, at best, also the usb (data + data -) line. There is a schematic for the FPC pin assignment? There are other place on the board where I can find 5v,gnd,data+,data- line (maybe a jtag or a service hole/plate)?
I also have a spare connector but there's not enough space to re-solder and some plates are gone with the broken connector, so I'd like to find an alternative way.
Thanks

Honestly, resoldering would not help, and since are pretty much left with no alternative but burn chunks of money, I don't know what you expect from here?

I can't understand what You're talking about.
The question (I suppose in the correct section) was easy: There are pins or plates (except the fpc connector) on the OnePlus 5 Board to power it?
For the pourpose I have in mind (a Tasker bridge device) the solder solution would be great, if possible. Seems strange that in the whole board there's not an alternative +5v and a GND to power it. But, after a week and with only Your (non contributing) answer I think I have to get the circuit tester and route some points myself.
I'd rather prefer no answers If the only one I get is about the circumstances and not about the point.
Thanks anyway

There's always a way out, maybe it could be difficult or expensive, that's not the point. We're talking about a connector, not a more complex component.
Banally, the first way is by following the 5v from usb cable to fcp connector, (as described in a youtube video about OP5T) and check if that plate is still there, then, if not, if there is another point of the same line or a scratchable spot.
The question was about existent schematics and/or other people experience about this or similiar. Things that can make everything easier or confirmed.
So:
- The "repair" is achievable? Absolutely Yes if the fpc plate is not damaged (by making a bridge); probably Yes if damaged.
- The "repair" makes sense? Yes, for my purposes
I can't see Your point and Your statement, as I already know there's a way (that I've asked to be confirmed or already experienced) .
