Hi all,
So I recently bought a new genuine note 4 Battery off of Amazon (bargain at £12!) and I'm just wondering about what's the best way to start using it?
The reason I ask is currently i'm currently running stock 4.4.4 BTU (before I was running 5.01. BTU) and I have the issue with the battery either going from 15% to 0% in minutes or sometimes it just turns off at 10% (like literally the phone just dies)
I've tried everything from a restore, new firmware, old firmware and event reset the battery status via the service menu. I'm just worried that i'll insert this new battery and may have the same issues, perhaps I'm looking into things too much?
Or should I give one of the new 5.1.1 roms a go?
Thanks.

ive only had that battery issue when i was using an old iphone 4s, i think a new battery should behave like a new battery and not have magic disappearing charge %
Yeah, I think it might just be the battery. Give the 5.1.1 roms a go. I installed one on my Z2 and it was better battery wise. I am still waiting for the update on my Note 4 G variant, I hope it will also make things better.

I'm running Resurrection Remix on the latest build and have been having horrible battery life (about 2 hours sot) since quite a while now. I now charge like 2-3 times a day and overnight...
I recently did a clean wipe and reinstalled all my apps while only restoring Google authenticator and wifi passwords with titanium backup. I'm rooted with Magisk. I bought my Axon7 quite exactly one year ago. Have I fried my battery?

No, not really... I mean I can set a power profile, but that doesn't really do much.
I have to confirm that again, but if I turn on Airplane mode, my battery is a beast. I think there's some sort of drain coming from the kernel or something

You could try flashing a different modem for your model.
Maybe an app or two also keeping it awake and trying for a network? Not getting a deep sleep in doze.
Stock ROM has power manager and I suspect that is the only reason I get a day from mine.
If you're still suffering I suggest you go back to stock or reflash properly as in step by step and make sure nothing has gone wrong.

Where would I get that? I believe a friend helped me flash one a few weeks ago, but I don't remember where it was from. (I've had the issue before too, though)
I get this too. Absolutely horrible battery life. Well this started happening after I flashed the B32 bootstack and stock system to fix my camera issues. At first I thought it was the stock rom but I flashed candyrom and the llama sweet kernel EAS version and I still get it. I do think it's the phone signal but I'm not sure yet. I used to drop to 98% in about 10-20 minutes with WiFi on and screen on. Now I lose 10% in that time. I went from 98% (it doesn't even want to fill charge anymore but I think it's the kernel) to 92 in 10 minutes.

I feel you... I really hope it's just basically a software issue... If you have any solution, please, please update me and the others here - i just flashed the kernel that got recommended to me and I'll try if it makes things better. Otherwise I'll wait for Oreo, I guess...
I'm not even that sensible to bad battery life in phones because i always carry a powerbank, but if the phone barely makes it to work in the morning and I have to recharge it at work at 25% or so, it gets a little annoying ^^

True that...I don't believe it to be the battery. It could be software. I noticed that my battery usage spikes up to 1140+ mAh and stablizes at 460 mAh which is way too much. I remember only getting up to 430+ in worst cases and stabilizes at 200-300+
Here's what my battery usage looks like:

I hope you find a solution too. If you do, please let me know.

Fullstock is how I got into this mess i think, since this started happening as soon as I flashed B25 bootstack and stocksystem. But the new baseband, I'll try that and see how it goes. However that's B25, we're on B32 so hopefully someone posts the new modem. I have not tried flashing an older bootstack as I somehow doubt that will fix it. Granted, i noticed my battery life starting to wear while I was on an older bootstack while on DARK rom.
ediit: it seems i'm already running this modem version. https://imgur.com/a/8jeEh
So here's my little situation, I wanted to just keep this phone stock and not root it for once since I do it for every phone I get. I've only had this thing for a week and I love it... Mostly.
Problem is I have ABYSMAL battery life, loosing 10%+ on "Phone Idle" "Android OS" and "Android System" which typically sucks up around 30% of my battery usage and my SOT can be as low as 60 minutes if I let my phone sit while I work for example. This seems to not be an isolated issue however I have yet to find anybody experiencing such a dramatic loss of battery.
So my questions are is there ANY way to fix this? Been looking all over and it seems to be a software issue thus creating more questions. Looked around and I can't seem to find a way to help this problem.
As far as I am aware there is ABSOLUTELY no way to downgrade my T-Mobile H91810s nor is it possible to root it.
Is this true or am I missing something? I just bought this thing brand new after my ZTE Axon 7 got stolen. ):
So my three main questions: Has anyone find a way to lower battery consumption from those three programs? Is there ANY way to rollback to a previous firmware? Or is it possible to root the H91810s firmware?
I would really appreciate any feedback or answerers from the XDA community. I love this forum and 95% of the time there's anyways a solution to my problems from the amazing people but I'm afraid this might be the other 5%. Anyway thank you again for any feedback!
Losing that much battery that quickly is in no way normal. I get between 3 to 4 hours sot and somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 hours of total life. That's normal usage. Most people here seem to get somewhere in that range or more, I don't try too hard to conserve battery. If you have already factory reset to no avail I would first pick up an extra battery. Shouldn't be any more than $20. This will confirm whether this is a battery issue or related to hardware/software on the phone. If that doesn't work you can grab the patched lgup (somewhere in the guides section) and the 10r h918 kdz. Since you are on arb 1, you can roll back to anything with the same arb version. 10r is arb 1 as well, so it should flash no problems. Put the phone in download mode, and click partition dl on the patched lgup gui. Select the 10r kdz and it will flash every single partition to the phone. This will be a brand new phone with factory fresh firmware/software. Do not attempt to flash anything lower than 10r as I have no idea when arb was implemented for the h918 (I believe it was after 10k). If the problem STILL persists after a kdz restore, then I would guess the unit is defective in someway. @runningnak3d any suggestions or corrections to what I have stated? You know a heck of a lot more when it comes to all things LG and v20
I have never had that kind of battery problem on the H910 or H918 no matter the firmware version. I agree with the suggestion of getting a new battery.
FYI - ARB 1 was implemented in 10p, so you can roll all the way back to 10p or anything in between.

Check the battery optimization and see which apps are unoptimized. If you are using the stock apps for messaging/calling then chances are you have bad network reception. I use airplane mode at home because I'm mostly in the dark area where reception is nill, otherwise my phone's battery in standby lasts less than 6hrs or loses 15-20% overnight. I don't know why the modem eats so much battery in the region of poor reception though. (I have Zuk Z2 as well but I never had to switch it to airplane mode at home and it kept on searching for network all the time without alarming battery usage).
Chances are that your replacement battery is faulty or counterfeit too. I have an LG Battery which was manufactured in January 8th 2018 and its working fine, gives me a full day use from morning till night and I remove the phone from charger before leaving for work. Also, make sure you're using a compatible charger. I have used both QC2.0 and QC3.0 chargers with my phone and its charging speed is the same. (ZUK Z2 comes with QC2.0 charger while I have Leeco's QC3.0 charger too, LG's is QC2.0). Try using a non-QC charger as well which will charger ur battery slow but maybe repairs the memory-effect-like problems with your battery.

Several things you can try. Depends how long and hard you are willing to keep at it.
For starters when you boot into recovery, do you see an option to wipe cache ? if so wipe, reboot back and see whether it fixes anything
I've had this happen to a couple tablets. You may need to reset the battery logic.
Turn off the phone.
Pull the battery.
Press and hold the power button for one full minute.
Let the phone sit for 10 minutes without the battery in it.
Put the battery back in and boot up.
I hope this works for you.

Am curious as to what 'reset battery logic' means ?
Is this when you use a bigger battery and you want it to recalibrate or something

A feature called Battery Stats, which keeps track of battery capacity, when it is full or empty. The problem is that it sometimes becomes corrupted and starts displaying data that isn’t real. This is an attempt to get the OS to correct this information.

here we are ten days later and the OP has yet to show. I suppose this problem must not be a problem anymore ?

The same is happening with my LG V20 H918. When I charge it using a fast charger (I have a Motorola G5 Plus), it shows me fast-charging and simply shows 100% within 10-15 minutes. That means it is wrong information.
So I tested by using my V20 until it got discharged and turned off automatically, and then charged it completely for several hours. What happened next, its battery worked for full 2 days.

any info on what Triton is?? I see that in the processes too often as well...
My guess would be something related to rctd...ccmd doesn't seem to hurt nothing and from what I read...(a little)..ccmd is a security fuse or exploit..that kicks in the lock-out timer for password...or criminals as us..:silly:..but I found the Triton file inside the in it.rc inside the kernel and turned it off.. And changed the way it wrote|write..to the system per se..

Could be a bad battery. I bought a battery and for some reason it won't let the processor go offline. With 2 of the batteries the phone sleeps just fine, but with the third battery I get horrible battery life and it shows Android system and phone idol eating up battery life and also 3c toolbox shows that the processor is not going offline. Kind of strange, but could just be a bad battery. You can get a new one on eBay for $9 and free shipping! The last one I got is great!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I bought a used Sprint v20 in "VG" condition. The phone looks really clean. But the phone is getting very hot with light browser use in a short time, and drains very quickly. I didn't install any facebook or anything but it may come with Sprint. Anyhow the battery issue is pretty bad so far. However I decided to turn off the location and that seems like it may be part of the problem. However not terribly happy that the GPS eats the battery and causes heat issues, but what can I do. Also noticed someone else with problems mentioned the verizon model. I wonder if the Sprint and Verizon versions have issues. :/ Also my battery was manufactured in 2017/02 and is official. I could replace it but with the heat and GPS issues, it seems like the problem is likely hardware / software related and not the battery itself.

Hello!
Just got a note 4 from my friend to play with since he's not using it anymore. The problem is that the phone heats up a lot whenever its on, even if the screen is off.
My guess is that the processor receives too much power from the battery? Or is it possible that the problem is related to the CPU? Or is it the battery?
Right now im tempted to buy a new replacement battery just to see if the battery is the problem. But i hope for some advice if you guys have experienced this before. Thanks!
Update 1: Changed the battery. The drain is much slower compared to before but the phone still gets really hot. Any idea why?
I have the same problem. I am not sure why overheating happens but I think about few things: constant Wi-Fi activity, a lot of installed apps, low free memory.
I just ordered a battery to see if its the problem
Yesterday my phone was very hot and very slow. I thought battery can't be the reason but I was wrong. I replaced my few months used battery with my old one and phone worked normally. So battery can be the reason for overheating.

I tried nemesis and erobot but they were pretty laggy since i had to use minimum clock speeds or else it gets hard to hold the phone cause of the heat. Also i think one of them had spacelemon kernel but i couldnt change the clock speeds and the phone became unbearably hot so i quicky changed to bliss then superstock

When im in the OS yes it does. But when i was in TWRP last night it was pretty normal unlike the time before the new battery. Also the idle drain is disturbingly fast i left it on last night and when i woke up today it was fully drained. Still trying to find out if there are apps causing the drain
Maybe latest firmware cause that. I am planning to flash 5.1.

It runs relatively cooler (like cool enough that i can use it without a case without burning my hand, it just gets warm) on rulinglite rom which is on the 5.1.1 version so it does have something to do with the firmware maybe. The battery still drains too much though even in safe mode so im not sure anymore on whats the problem on my note 4

Unfortunately nothing i try fixes the overheating i read at a note 5 forum that his phone overheats constantly because of the too many charging cycles probably damaged the motherboard. I think that might be the cause of overheating here too.
Also no problem with unmounting or anything else. Just the overheating and the massive battery drain even when the screen is off

Such a shame since the screen is so good and the camera is super crisp too. I will probably just use it for some daylight photography haha

Sometimes it'll die on my kind of quick without me realizing and when I plug it back in to charge, it'll sit and 0% and not charge, and the ETA for a full charge is N/A. Anyone have similiar issues? Would that be ROM/kernel related, or strictly hardware based?
I bought LE X720 for my wife.
I tried different versions of the original rom and with all the phone's battery was not charging normally.
I did downgrade to CN-5.8.017S, the problem continued. Then i upgraded to version CN-5.8.018S, the problem continued.
Now I'm using a version EUI 5.8.21s LEX720/727 USA. The charging problem continues and battery drain very quickly.
Every time I reboot the phone before plugging it in to the charger.
Do not buy this phone model - LE ZL1 X720. It is a great disappointment.
well, its not a constant thing for me, just sometimes. And the reason i got the x720 over the usa x727 version was the 6gb ram vs 4gb ram I believe was the difference. It also has dual SIm but ive no need for that. I wish I wouldve gotten the 128gb version but either I couldn't find it at the time, or it was more than i wanted to spend at the time. Still, for ~$250 im quite happy with this phone. Except I didnt order a hard case, thinking the case for my S3 would fit it, but the camera spot is slightly different.
This issue is known for at least a year, just don't use LeEco provided charger and cable and buy some better ones and you won't have that problem anymore.
For a better battery life don't use stock ROM, flash some custom ROM like Lineage 15.1. I get almost 10 hours of SOT on LOS15.1.

Absolutely!
The problem is not from charger and cable. I trying the charger and cable from my phone - ZUK Z2, the battery is continuing to not charging. After rebooting, the battery is charging normally.
Also i do not have charging issues with Android Oreo based custom roms. But with custom roms a battery drain very quickly.
With stock ROM i get about 2 days battery life, if phone not used too much.
Compared to the ZUK Z2, this ZL1 X720 is a huge disappointment.
Use the *Battery calibration* root app from google and follow the instructions after flashing your new rom.
Im using the Pie rom by mcintosh and average roughly 7-9 hours sot with 40% brightness and location on with moderate use
im happy with the phone for the most part, and the S3. I wonder if LeEco is still going to be making new phone models with that whole in debt thing i read about. Btw, do any of yall know what the Performance rating of your ram is in the Memory section? i attached a screenshot
