[Solved?] Device keeps powering off and rebooting every 2 secs - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
The weirdest thing happen to my 1,5y old lavender (with official LOS 17.1 on it)
Out of the blue, it started powering off and rebooting, only to run for a couple of seconds and then power off again.
Booting to recovery (TWRP 3.4.0.0) gets to the splashscreen and then power off again. Same thing for Fastboot so no flash of any rom can be done. A couple of times I managed to make it boot "almost" completely but then again power off.
I'm now letting it battery drain to see if there's some progress from there.
Did anybody ever encounter something like this?
I saw this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/help/help-phone-rebooting-t4098107 but not progress has been reported.
Thanks a lot in advance.
UPDATE: I left the device to drain all remaining juice until it could no longer power up. Then I charged it again and the issue disappeared. I don't know whether this is gone for good but I hope this may help others.

Maybe battery... Try to keep the charger connected... If boot with charger connected, it's battery fault.
I had similar problem few years ago with an old Samsung S3 Neo, but on that case was easy to replace the battery.

Phone wont lasted 10 seconds without plugging in ,But not battery problem.

Hello guys, this is my first time posting up in XDA and I am encountering a very weird problem with my N4
Disclaimer, the following is a long write but please bear with me and give a read.
Here's my problem after flashing the simple asop 29/5 build for mako. I come from same rom build 21/5 but i did a clean flash for the latest build. As soon as success flashing the latest build with gapps, then as usual will proceed reboot the system. Just right before the boot animation, the phone immediately went dead. I am sure that the phone is still left with 50%+ of battery at the moment.
Anyhow, I decided to plug it into charger. And voila, the phone now able to go through the boot animation and everything just fine. After setting up and restoring backups, I unplugged the charger, its 75%+ on the battery. Within 10-15 seconds, the phone immediately go dead again. I hit the power button and tried to boot up. Again, right after the Google logo screen, the phone went dead.
Commonly this indicate a problem with the battery. Yeah, but I went into recovery twrp and disabled the screen timeout & max the brightness. Guess what, surprisingly it lasted more than an hour which proves that this wasn't battery fault.
What had I tried so far, is just switched off the phone and plugged into charge for 2 hours. And obviously it doesnt solve the problem. I am backing up all the data at the moment and plans to drain the battery all the way down just leaving it screen on at recovery.
Anyone who know what happening with my n4 or encounter similar experience, please feel free to share the solution. Many thanks

Have you tried making a clean wipe and trying either stock or another ROM, to see if it works then?
Your test doesn't prove it's not the battery's fault. Flash back to stock, see if the problem persists and if it does then you know you have a hardware problem. Could be the battery.

Hello, much appreciate your reply. I flashed back to stock 5.1.1 now and yet this problem is still persisting. Thus pretty obvious thats an hardware faulty.
In another forum, a guy with Nexus 7 had similar situation as me, and he suggests that its the battery or the circuit board at the charging port went kaput.
Guess nothing else I could do right now, gonna send in the phone for repair and hope the bill wont cost as much as a used nexus 4

My Galaxy S5 goes on a bootloop

Good day XDA,
My phone went on a real havoc starting yesterday when it kept on rebooting in the "Samsung Galaxy S5 powered by Android" logo. It doesn't go past it without having the phone plugged into into a power source, either USB, powerbank or wall charger. After charging it 'til it goes full, it only takes few minutes to few hours before it goes to the same cycle again - and I have to plug it in again in order to use it properly.
What could be the problem? Your immediate response is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
hi , i find when i experience this issue is when play store updates theme that i have in use at time , soon as i reboot i get bootloops ...i fix mine by pressing and holding vol down menu and power for as long as it takes for bootloader then press them same keys again but release before bootloader so that your phone boots as normal hope this helps
I know this is the combination for force reboot but sadly, that doesn't help. Thanks for the idea, though.
Tried clearing caches from recovery?
Battery still good?
I think the battery might be the problem. When I tried charging it, I went back and it was on 92% then few seconds later, it jumped to 100%. I tried booting it but with no luck, so I pulled the battery and upon putting it back, it dropped to 50%. I pulled and put it back again and it went to 84%. I'm thinking it might be the battery. I cannot boot into system or TWRP, only on Odin mode but I need to save the files saved on my internal storage as it has photos I haven't backed up yet.

What did you do to 'reset'?
When I've had similar issues, I've held the power and volume up buttons for over a minute and eventually it turned on. If not, then volume down and power for over a minute. If you haven't, try that with and without the charger plugged in.

Mine does this all the time if I let it die you gotta have the oem charger if I recall correctly wish I could find the post about it I wanna say with oem charger you hold vol up or down try either while you plug it in and if you get the charging graphic you wanna then leave it charging for a while then retry the power button it's stuck in some sort of Sahara type mode from what I could see when that happens...let us have a bit more detail when it's plugged in do you see the charging graphics at all? If not and only seeing the LED light I'd bet it's in the mode others have mentioned here if you do then I am not certain but other times I had same prob just left it on charge for couple hours then it finally booted.

I am facing similar problem with my G4 Plus. The difference is that my phone kept on hanging while doing normal tasks and then it used to restart. The weird thing was that while the phone booted up, there this boot animation where a person is doing flips there my phone used to hang and then it restarts. Only after that it used to completely boot up. But after 10-15 mins of usage it used to hang and restart.
One more weird thing that used to happen is that with every restart the battery used to drain drastically.
Then finally the phone died. And while charging the white led kept on blinking.
I took my phone for repair and even they were not able to figure out the problem. They replaced the battery but still the same issue. At the end they said that the problem is with motherboard and needed to be replaced.
Now I'm using Honor 7X but I still have my G4 Plus with me.
If anyone was able to boot up his device then please do reply on this thread.

Hmm, have you tried a firmware re-flash? Here's a stock firmware that should work on XT1643 devices - https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138 You do not have to re-lock the bootloader if you do not wish to (skip the OEM lock begin and OEM lock commands). I would recommend a full device wipe though (using the 'fastboot erase userdata' command) unless there's crucial data you still want to try to save on your G4 Plus. A full wipe however with the full flash should help us troubleshoot.
However, if a firmware flash doesn't work, then it does start to suggest there is a hardware issue. Do you experience reboots if booted to the bootloader or the recovery?
Also, do you recall if the hangs were random or were in a particular app or with a particular task?

I tried to boot my device to fastboot after one and half month, as I was busy with my exams, and fortunately today it booted (Earlier it was not at all booting). But the hang and reboot problem still persists. So, now I'll try to re-flash the firmware and then I'll update about the status.
Currently my device is running on December Patch Firmware.
No, till now no reboots in bootloader and recovery. And yes, I forgot to mention, my recovery is stock. In December I went back to stock from rooted. But the bootloader was not locking. It still has that warning at the starting of boot process.
The reboots were random, it still are. The device is rebooting within 5 minutes of reboot.

Sorry for late reply, I did tried it and also tried to replace the battery but it didn't boot up. So I took my phone to Service Centre where they kept the phone for 2 days and returned the phone saying that the problem is with the motherboard and it has to be replaced.
Hi,
I have a problem with my G4+.
The screen looks black even when turned on however when I shine a torch on the screen I can vaguely see the graphics but not enough to do anything with the phone.
My son suggests a problem with the back light. Is this a known fault and can it be fixed or is it a case of a new phone.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Martin
i got solution
the problem is a flex, it is the one that contains the camera's flash, that flex has a small resistance, when it dies the phone stops charging, your phone is not briqueado just does not charge. replace that flex and the phone charging again

I am facing similar issue with G4 plus. phone's battery was low to about 13%, and was heating up in charging, so i thought to switch it off for faster charging. but its not booting up back after that. white led near fingerprint sensor keeps blinking when i put it to charge. i read this thread and tried the methods of holding power button, or power+volume up, or power+volume down, or power+volume up+volume down. but nothing works. i did all with and without charging. tried all these last night and this morning as well. meanwhile i left the phone in charge over night, for approx 8 hours. no charging screen, not booting up. now what ??
It's the battery.
Go to your nearby Motorola service center and either get your battery replaced, or ask them to boost your battery (if it works you'll save money.)

Nexus 10 not booting (won't turn on)

I had my tablet on my bed, turned off, with ~60% of battery this morning.
On the afternoon I wanted to use it but it wouldn't turn on.
I already plugged it to the charger, nothing.
Tried pressing power + volume up + volume down (several seconds), nothing.
Same thing with only the power button, nothing.
When I keep the power button pressed while the charger is plugged in, the icon if the battery with a thunderbolt inside appears for a second, then disappears.
If I don't let go of the power button, this icon keeps appearing for a second and then disappears (and appears and disappears in a loop) and nothing else happens.
Any ideas?
I don't want to throw this tablet away.

I just had this happen to me a little while ago. My tablet turned off with the battery not even close to empty and couldn't get it to turn back on. I could get into recovery but not the OS. I tried flashing different things but it kept having issues. I tried leaving it in recovery mode to drain the battery all the way. Then plugged in the charger while it was off and let it charge up again. I flashed a rom again and I got it to turn back on. Everything seems to be back to normal now. But I really don't know what exactly fixed it or what caused it. I was flashing some older ROMs on it when it happened because I wanted to go back to Marshmallow. So, sorry I don't have a real answer but those are some things that I tried. It could be early signs of a bad battery but I don't know for sure

Well I could't enter recovery ao I just let it drain its battery, after some days I plugged the charger, the battery started charging and it booted.
So... I have no idea what it was, but now it's working again.
Yes, I'm guessing the batttery is dying so I'm starting to look for alternatives.
I guess I'll just go for an iPad, dont know what other tablet could be a good replacement for this one.

I agree. There's not really any other Android tablet that I think is a good replacement though. I like the size of the Nexus 10 and wouldn't want anything smaller. I thought about the Nexus 9 but even that has issues with running the latest version of Android. I guess tablets are just going out of style.

Poco m3 turned off during an update

I am sorry if this is a dumb thread I am just worried. I was watching my Poco M3 update up to 60%(my battery was on 68% before starting the update) then I started to watch TV and didn't pay much attention to the phone. When I looked at it it was off and i thought that maybe it is just in the process of rebooting or its already on the lock screen .Because I thought it may still be rebooting I just placed my finger on the fingerprint reader because I didn't want to risk turning it of by pressing the power button. My phone didn't respond at all. I haven't tried to hold the power button because I'm worried that its still in the process of updating. What should I do ?
Never mind. I had to hold the power button for 10 seconds and it turned on. I am sorry for wasting your time. I was so worried since it was a new phone and I couldn't afford a new one. I am sorry again.
This post was usefull, it happened to me too. The phone wouldn't even show an image when connected to a charger. I waited for a while, entered Fastboot succesfully and then, after the second (on the first one remained stuck on the MIUI screen) 10s power button push, it succesfully booted
It happened also to me during update to 12.0.8.0, but I used Power and Vol+ and then Reboot to System.
It was a moment of anxiety.
It happened to me to. It is a branch new phone and I got so worried that I might just have bricked it. Fk Xaomi.
just happended with me right its on MIUI Screen hope its get on
Update: Just Booted In Fastboot Its on Screen now
Same thing just happened to me too. My phone is not turning on at all. I tried holding the power button for 10 seconds as discussed here, tried fast booting, tried connecting charger and starting. Nothing is working. Going into panic mode.
**UPDATE***
After leaving the phone alone for 24 hours in which time it was completely unresponsive to anything I tried, I connected the charger and just pressed power button and it decided to just start normally. POCO needs to address this situation.
**UPDATE***
Phone is not responding again after restrating. I give up on this phone.
