The Wiki
I got my OnePlus 8 one week ago and I already have an idea, make a big Wiki for OnePlus 8 / 8 Pro.
My goal is to provide all resources to get the best phone setup, with links, examples, screenshot, detailed steps etc. etc.
(I will need OnePlus 8 Pro users to be sure everything works, bc I don't have the Pro one)
The wiki will be on my Github soon

waiting for your wiki
Hey guys,sorry for the delay.
I had an issue with my OP8 when i was working on the Wiki, but i fixed it.
I will open the WIki soon and works on it publicly
Sounds like a plan! Cheers
Voila the wiki is out, check it here guys
Only Adb / Bootloader and TWRP for now, Magisk part will be out in some hours
I think you should include Viper4Android, Youtube mods, gcam, adaway, ratio launcher, tap tap, energy ring. Cuz this is my current setup on OP8. And Substratum themes. My personal favorite is Flux.

I didn't undercut anybody. I spoke directly to Hector and obtained his permission to post this up before posting it.
On a side note, I felt my post would be easier for other's to read and use, since Hector had only posted a paragraph and a link to zenulator's original Hero ROM thread. He's, since then, copied info from zenulator's post and fixed his post up.

Is there any way you can get rid of the background image on the icons? To be honest they look like the xPhone and takes away from the Sense UI, which is crisp and clean.
when uploading roms, i suggest using multiupload..
rs gives users a maximum of 10 downloads before killing the link..
just a fyi

Just tried your Rev2 and I like it! It's quick and I haven't found a problem yet. Will bt it to my car radio on the way home. The icons are different than I am used to but they are growing on me...sort of Ipod Touchish. Good job!
It appears as though your extra downloads aren't signed...at least that is the message I got when I tried to flash.
Just a quick note to say that http://rootmydroid.co.uk is in development now, with the aim to be n00b friendly guides (Like www.roothtchero.co.uk) and ROM news.
The Hero guide has been successfully ported over, and I would like your feedback on the site. What should I do? What sould I not do?
The other thing that makes the site special is the Help section. Users can get live support from me or send me an email. This way we can help lots of n00bs to root!
If you are intrested in helping out on the live support channel, please PM me.
Thanks very much for all your support & helping me to get www.roothtchero.co.uk through the 1,000 hits a day barrier.

EDIT: It seems to be a problem with the advertising, I've just implemented it. Give it a few hours to settle.
If it's not working by 21:30 GMT I will disable it.
Not working for me at 23:08 using Win7 and Firefox 3.6.6 but works fine using Internet Explorer.
Ewww! I just clicked on the Root your Desire page just for a click about the site
http://rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/desire/howto-root-your-htc-desire/
I REALLY don't like that invasive pull page advertisement, good luck in making a few bob from the site but that is bad....
Maybe Firefox Adblock plus is the cause, it knows we don't want ads so is showing a blank page instead of the invasive full screen ad.
I think the page is loading okay but a split second later the ad takes over so all we see in FF is a blank screen

Sorry to be off topic but which widget are you using in the 1st video to get the clock with the weather ?
Is it possible to get this kind of skin free or is it coming from package like beautiful widget ?
Thanks
Nicolas
That one is beautiful widget. If you flash Paul's rom he has the option to include fancy widget in the kitchen. Fancy widget was taken off the market because it looked too similar to HTC's clock widget... So to answer your question, yes, you can get that type of clock for free if you flash MCR r2.
Thanks for the answer !
I found just after my post this fancy widget ( I already looked at it yesterday but in the market and obviously could'nt find it)
I found the apk on the forum ... It's now on my homescreens
I feel like home now
So, I just grabbed the Hero port from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722122. And then, I did the following -
1) loaded into dsixda's kitchen and selected 'Advanced' and 'port'
2) used freshly compiled AOSP ROM with freshly compiled kernel as base for device (using Android Builder - link in sig)
3) replaced 'heroc' with 'desirec' in updater-script & build.prop
4) changed several lines in build.prop to change 'Sprint' into 'Verizon' & 'Hero CDMA' into 'Eris'
5) renamed 'init.heroc.rc' in ramdisk to 'init.desirec.rc'
6) copied 'desirec-keypad.kcm.bin' & 'desirec-keypad.kl' from planejane into appropriate locations
7) copied 'sensors.desirec.so' from planejane to appropriate location
Seriously. That's all that I did.
What works:
wifi
camera (no preview)
bluetooth (well it turns on, I don't have anything to test)
Market (after the Google bits are installed)
phone calls
3G
touch screen
buttons
lights
SMS
What doesn't work:
MMS (couldn't send)
OC won't work because the kernel I used doesn't have it.
This is really nice for no more work than it takes to port. It kind of hurts me, because I like the idea of compiling from source so much better...
I don't want to step on any toes of people who are doing real work, since I don't plan on maintaining this ROM. (Well, I didn't really do much of anything anyway!) So, hence the instructions above. Roll your own, if you want.
nice work has anybody tried this yet? i can guinea pig if not.
Edit:
Nevermind

Hey, I just provided the instructions... If I were going to post the ROM, I would make sure it's ok with darchstar. That's just me though. Since it's all open source, it may not matter one way or another.
So, yeah, it's ok with me! I haven't sent my build to anyone yet, so if you ported it, well, you ported it!
Thanks for asking. That's the way to be.
I do have one request though... If you make any more changes, can you post them too? And not just - "v53 - fixed thingy". I really like to see what people are doing, so I can learn how they did it. That's purely a request. You are in no way obligated.

Cool deal then. The next thing that I was going to do was change the "Sprint" in res/xml/eri.xml in the framework-res.apk to say Verizon. I had no idea of where to do that until last night when it was mentioned in the irc channel by andrew8806 & conap.
This is really good build. I'm using it right now as my everyday ROM. It will be good for this to be an option for people. It's just not a part of my plan... Muhahaha.
Rock on.
very informative, thanks for editing the title accordingly. =) don't need anymore flames rising. And also thanks for making sure to add the ASK DARCHSTAR part in the OP beings that there was already almost a issue between him the heroc community and one of the eris forum members(you already know who) due to a mixup.

If you are using dsixda's Kitchen, you can go to Advanced and then '15'. It will expand the boot.img out into a folder called BOOT-EXTRACTED, and there's a folder in there that is the contents of the ramdisk and the kernel. Be sure to build the boot.img back after making changes and before building the ROM.
This explains it -

Well done! Did you have to do anything that I did not list in the instructions in this thread? Share?
Honestly, it's real tempting to take yet another detour and make a plugin for the kitchen that will do the steps in the OP (CDMA Hero --> Eris) and maybe another one that's Eris --> CDMA Hero.
I don't think it will take much time to do, and it will make Hero ports even easier for people who don't have the time to dig into things as well as they probably should if they are going to be a dev. (There is a downside to making all of this easier to do...)

Why should it go in themes? Magisk Modules aren't considered development? Anyway thanks for the tip, I'll try to post in themes later!

Hi there!
Looks like a fun project you got going on there. Since you're making it for both devices, OnePlus 6 & 6T Cross Device Development seems like its proper home. But you may want to read this first: https://forum.xda-developers.com/newmember.php
Also, please read this as well: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...evelopment/rules-posting-development-t4004701
Thanks and have a good one

Ok so right now I first need to do at least 10 post to be able to put the project link in the Thread, so I guess we just have to wait until I'm able to use links
