Can't read files from PC - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Ok this is really frustrating me for trying to do something so simple.
I can't get this thing (A2017G) to work with my PC at all, in adb it keeps saying "offline". I already tested it with another phone (LG G8s) and usb works fine and moving to the back (using front panel now) doesn't help at all as it stops being detected.
I look around for some drivers but just find some dead links and Qualcomm usb driver stuff?
The phone is detected by windows but it's acting really strange, all kinds of unnamed folders popping up and the DCIM folder is empty...

found new hardware

I already have my samsung usb and android modem drivers installed. but everytime i plug my phone in with usb debugging on, the "Found New Hardware" window keeps popping up, why?
im not sure, but it could be the problem to why it always says "waiting for device" on superoneclick
My day job is pc tech, I have seen this a few times but going to follow the steps, first give me some info
Which version of windows?
32 or 64 bit?
How proficient are you at driver maint. *add and removeal ov drivers*
When did this start?
windows xp - 32 bit - and im pretty proficient at maintenance. i think its always been like this.
Ok, Do you always use the same USB port? and have you tried a different cable? and have you tried it on other computers? if so did it do the same thing there?
First we got to get rid of the drivers on the pc.

This is a free program that has a few nice features but most important is that it can tell you the name of the files that are used as drivers. After you install and register (its free, they just want to know who you are.. name, email, that kind of stuff) there will be an entry on the right side called "Installed Drivers Report". Make sure you phone is connected before you click this as it scans active drivers. it will generate a report you can scroll through and find any samsung driver entrys. Write down those file names, we will need them in a moment.
Go to device manager and remove the device there. Windows XP was kinda lame about device removal it did not actually remove the device just broke the connection. Vista and 7 give you the option to actually delete the files which make this easier. Since your on XP after the devices have all been removed UNPLUG your phone from the PC then start a search for those files in the Windows directory. Delete (or move) those files and the rerun the driver install program from here

After that it may setup and find new hardware a few times. Mine did it 3 since there are multiple different methods it can connect with and each uses differnet hardware. Also each time you use a differnt USB port it sees it as new device in a new location so it also goes through new hardware setup again.
Report back and let me know if this helped any.
okay thanks for the quick response. i will try it when I have time and ill get back to you. first, imma try it on a different computer.
also, when its plugged in and i open device manager, theres 3 yellow exclamation marks, one on the android modem, device, and in the "OTHER devices" section, the USB controllers. if that means anything.
just turn off usb debugging... and it will stop. turn it back on if you need to use it for something.

Installing Universal Naked Drivers

so I got the latest Universal Naked Drivers 0.73 zip file, extraced it to its own folder on my desktop, and then I opened device manager, went to Other Devices>Nexus 4, right clicked, uninstalled, restarted my laptop and nexus 4, and then opened device manager again, and this time clicked on Update Drivers for nexus 4, and when I select browse files on my computer, then I click that folder, which has two sub folders in it, one for AMD64 and then i386, and there is also some other files in the main folder, outside the subfolders, called androidwinusba64 and androidwinusb86, as well as two more called android_apxusb and android_winusb.
But When i click on the main folder so it searched through that and the two subfolders, it keeps saying it's not finding any drivers for my device, and i've tried clicking on each of the sub folders, and neither of those make it work either. I've done what every guide has shown me, which I've installed drives hundreds of times in my 27years of life, and I have never had a problem before. Especially not with Android devices. I can't get my brand new 16gb nexus 4 that i just got yesterday (got it while I wait for Tmobile to get the Nex5 in stock, and then I am switching them out) to show up under my computer as a media device so I can actually drop files onto it. I dont get what the issue is here. I know that the 4.3 update (which I updated to last night when i first powered on my phone and activated it) cause some driver issues from what i've read, but supposedly they have been fixed or whatever, and this Naked Driver is supposed to help as well. But getting them installed first would work better lol. everytime I plug the phone in, it tries to install the drivers itself, but it keeps failing for some reason. Any thoughts on how to proceed ?
It's ADB driver, you need to enable USB Debugging. If you are using Windows 8, reboot it into advance mode and disable driver signature checking.

i already know all that lol I've been modding for quite a few years, so I know all about USB debugging, thanks tho. That's definitely not the problem. I can get the phone to work with ADB no problem, but I can't get it to show up as a media device like its supposed to when i have that selected in the USB mode options.
Oh, and I am sorry, I shoulda clarified, I am on Win 7. I already read about the Windows 8 thing tho. Which I got a copy of Win8, so I do plan on upgrading soon, check it out see what its like. But I just gto a new copy of Ubuntu, so I've been playing around with that a lot lately.
Anyone ? I have tried so many different things and Just can't get it to work, bout to chuck my laptop out the window lol
I can't speak for the naked drivers as I have never used them, but the ones that come with the SDK work fine with Win 7 on Android 4.3 (Copy and pasting files with Windows Explorer, adb, fastboot, etc.).
Did you resolve your issue? If not you should try to run "Usb Tree View" and make sure your phone internal USB switch is set to PDA and not MODEM or BOTH etc. I don't know how that works for the Nex4 but its a thing to look at.

My PC doesn't recognize the phone at all

Hello!
I have a Nexus 4 (currently running the latest CM12 nightly) and I have been struggling with this issue for a long time. I needed to transfer some photos on my PC and when I connected my phone I found out that the PC doesn't recognize it at all - it doesn't appear in the Device manager and I don't even have Other devices and/or Android devices as categories in there too. This was about a few months ago when my PC was running Windows 8.1. Before this issue occured I had no problems connecting my phone to the same PC, running the same OS and even in the same port. And also I was running CM nightly builds back at that time too. I started using AirDroid, but it's a pain the butt to transfer masses of files such as photos from there, because it takes a huge amount of time. So basically I have tried the following with no result:
Turned on USB debugging
Tried all of the PC ports and even a USB hub
Tried a different USB cable
Installed Android SDK
Deleted every single USB driver and reinstalled it seperately
Now I am running Windows 10 64x on my PC and it might come as a surprise, but the phone still is not being recognized at all. Yesterday I tried to connect it to a friend's PC and it was actually recognized and I could access i, but I need it to work on my own PC. I will be truly grateful if you could help me resolve this issue and I apologize if there has ever been such a thread in here, but I just made my account Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

So, with Win 8.1, at one point, Microsoft via their Win updates pushed out an Acer ADB Device Driver which was complete sheet, and you had to roll it back to get it to work. I only vaguely recall the details, but sounds like you uninstalled them. Here is a thread on the issue: http://www.eightforums.com/drivers-...usb-issue-since-last-windows-8-1-updates.html
You might try downloading Wug's NRT, and going through the driver clean up and install steps and see if that fixes it. You may have some USB device which needs to be removed or failed. The Toolkit will walk you through the process. Also, remember on W10, you do not get an obvious pop-up (to the point I have questioned whether my device was detected), but if you click the Messages bubble in the bottom right of the screen and expand it, if it detects, it will tell you a device was detected.

JIAYU S3 - Windows 7 64b drivers?!? WTF HOW?????

This is about the hardest phone i got to install some windows drivers! This piece of **** drives me nuts!!
I'm about 5 secs away from smashing it onto my desk and trow it out of the window!!
Damm...
For about 2 weeks or so it worked just fine, i could connect usb to my pc and access all my files. Internal as external sd.
Now i just can't anymore... made a bunch of pictures today and wanted to transferr them to my desktop. NOPE!
When i open explorer and browse to my phone it shows 2 or three maps and then the green progress bar coms up and
the **** hangs! It takes about an hour (if i let is go on) to find some more maps.. but very slooooooooooow!
If i click on a map nothing happens... internal as external can't acces... everytime i try i see 2 or 3 maps and then the **** hangs.
Tried to restart pc serveral times, makes no difference
Tried delete S3 in device manager and reinstall, makes no difference
Tried to install a bunch of other usb drivers, makes no difference except that my pc did not like that at a certain point
Tried to uninstall all the usb drivers and restart desktop, hopefully do it with a clean install, makes no difference
I just don't know what to do, or what driver to install!?! I came from a samsung and that was sooooooo easy to install..
Plug it in, install drivers, root, flash and ****.

do you have USB debugging ON (Developer options) ? If so, perhaps try with USB debugging OFF.
I really don't see whats the problem with drivers
Using, Win7 i've been using the same mtk drivers for the past 2+ years
Disable UAC, check firewall, etc

Your problem is that you never installed the driver package properly.
Anyway. When i remember right you have Win7.
Download the All MTK USB Driver_.9.2+PDanet+Adb Installer.
Go to folder Universal Android USB Driver and install
UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi.
This will give full access to phone memory and SD.

you should be able to access MTP or USB storage without the drivers if you previously used MTP on your Samsung phone. i have found installing MTK drivers fairly easy, be it on windows 7,8 or 10. BTW what ROM are you using?
@Dior DNA
Yes, tried it on and off, same result. Even tried mass storage or media-device..
@superdragonpt
I'm on admin account. Why firewall check? If i access usb it doesn't go trough firewall..
It did work before, and nothing realy changed.
@1testi
I downloaden loads of packages and tried them all. The one you named i just installed again and the first attempt to
browse external sd worked! So i tried internal sd and the same as before.. shows about 4 maps and then the green
progress bar slowly loading.... takes about forever! When i try entering a map my explorer hangs and does not react
anymore. Tried external sd again and shows all maps, but when i click on any of them the green loading bar appears..
@adilrenzu
I use TF Extreme ROM with lolipop 5.1
And now it even conflicts with my mouse... after a while on usb suddenly i hear the disconnect sound and my mouse is not moving anymore. When i unplug my phone, the mouse is working after a few seconds. And i see an Unknown Device in devicemanager with exclamation mark.
....

Most probably ROM issue.
lol.....throw away that phone :v kidding xD Try backing up data then factory reset or reinstall a rom or use a different one. If that does not work. Reinstall win 7.
Do you have USB3 ports on that pc?
Yes i have..
Most probably a cable problem. Dont use the Jiayu cable !!
Win 7 needs USB-3.0-Host-Controller-Driver. Did you installed them?
I use the white cable probably from Jiayu, but when i first had the phone i used another cable and that gave me troubles installing the drivers. So i used the white one and then the device was reconized and i could install drivers. I just ordered a proffesional platina cable, so i hope thats the problem! But i don't think so, because my Samsung Tab 4 works like a charme on that cable, so why not my Jiayu?
USB 3.0 installed correctly, see attachemend.

Something is blocking the driver during installation, that´s why you have the unknown device. Go to the "software" section and delete everything from former installations, eg ADB.
This is from a Win7 Ultimate, only with Universaladbdriver for access to phone and sd memory. The S3 is there as full_h560!
When the phone WAS working a few days ago, there was a "S3" under portable device. I guess thats the same as full_h560?
And under "YunOS" there was an ADB device, but the YunOS is gone now and i can't get it back??

Jap its the same. S3 or full_h560 or... depends on the driver you are using.
Back to your screenshot. Was the S3 switched off or on when you took it? I dont understand it. The preloader/Media Tek
driver should be only visible with switched off S3. The unknown device in the USB section is the S3 without driver. That
should be visible only with switched on S3. In your screenshot there are both at the same time...very strange.
I´m running out of ideas. As said, try to delete everything related to S3 and Drivers, ADB and PDA drivers and install them
again.
The YunOS was in the device manager of a Win 8.1 machine with optional Windows Update package Ayun.
The S3 was on. Those mediatek drivers i installed when my phone was bricked 3 weeks ago.
But that did not matter last week wen the phone was still working..
BUT... today the new cable came in and i just tried it. Works like a charme!! It was never this quick before!?
So a good quality cable does a lot!!
Thanx again for the ideas!

Help with USB

Hello!
I just started having issues with my android phone and the ability to select the USB connection type (Charge, MTP, PTP, etc...)
I was getting the notification fine 10 minutes ago. But now it doesnt appear anymore....
I might have something to do with this issue.
I was trying to move files over to the phone and the file transfer froze and wasnt responding on windows PC.
I unplugged the phone and the transfer screen went away, tried to plug it in again and windows listed it as an unknown device.
Both of my windows PCs are having this problem. The USB cord still works as I have tested it on other devices. I have tried enabling USB debug mode and that didn't help.
My phone boots, all the apps seem to be working fine.
I have a samsung 64 gb micro sd inserted into the phone and it it formatted for marshmallow. (currently using this ROM: [ROM][Lux][XT1563/2] ֍ Marshmallux ֍ Stock based rom 6.0 [MPD24.65-18])
Couldnt find another post about this issue so Any help would be super.
So i figured out its something to do with windows 10.
I plugged my phone into a windows 7 pc i have and it worked as it did before.
solved
A simple restart did the trick.
Wasn't sure why this would help since i was having the issue on two windows 10 devices.
This seems like a really small problem so moderators can choose to delete this if the post is redundant.
