Is this still available? Has someone rooted with them? I was going to buy the Note 20 Ultra Exynos to be able to have call recording by changing the CSC to thailand ... but if I can have the snapdragon would be much better... Can anyone that has used that share their experience with this service? I would pay $150 to have the call recording. Even if don't want the LIMITATIONS of rooting but would prefer to have the better Battery life of the snapdragon... This seems like the only way to get call recording on a snapdragon phone...
Yes...goodluck..lol

All NA snapdragons are the same hardware regardless of carrier. They are unlockable via a paid process. Not a toggle like non north american snapdragons or exynos.

That's what I thought after reading a couple XDA comments about having to pay I'll see. But then I read an article where a guy like the rest of us was buying International versions for the last three or four years. And he said this year he bought the unlocked version for T-Mobile for better service and he routed it and unlock the bootloader all by himself. Basically by going into developer settings and checking the OEM unlock button like we used to do. Or like we still do with the exynos variants.. I appreciate you letting me know. I'll just buy International again. I'm not going to pay all that extra money.

Hi Guys,
Is it pretty much officially confirmed that the 6GB RAM, 128GB model will not be sold in the US?
Such a shame, I would have bought this with 6gb memory with a $100 more, than the Zenfone 3 Deluxe...
I believe they said that it will be made available to the international market in the future. No precise date tough...
I'm sure it will sell well no matter where it is launched. Those are some gaudy numbers.
They might be waiting for the SD821

Very unlikely since it's already out in China wth s820...
Thanks for your responses guys! Any one of you thinking of getting the 128 International model for here? Will it work with our GSM providers in the US?
Thanks!

If you mean the 128gb version from China, it will probably work but you won't have full coverage and 3G at best.
If you mean the 128gb version when it's made available, it'll be fully compatible, as is the interbationnal 64gb version.

Thanks bud, yeah I meant the 128gb Chinese version in case that version never arrives here. I am surprised that the Chinese model will have 0 US LTE compatibility, huh?

I can't say for sure LTE capability on the chinese version in the US is inexistent but i do believe that it's not optimal. I don't know what bands are used in the US. With that said, you can easily look it up and compare the bands you need with the bands on the chinese version

Correct, no US LTE bands, as is usually the case for Chinese models.

Wow this is such a news to me! And since this is my first ZTE I will be interested in, do you know if ZTE generally offers unlocked Bootloaders and kernel sources? AKA is this a good Development community phone?
Thanks!

Unlocked bootloaders, no, ZTE has no history of unlocking BLs. They did say, however, that they'll be doing it for the Axon 7 at some point. When that'll be, nobody knows.
Kernel sources are already out, but they're not much use until a BL unlock comes out.

Thanks for the education! So no unlocked BL meaning, no TWRP and likely no CM 13, 14...? But how about Rooting, has that been horrendous as well?
Thanks!
Would it be possible without a booloader unlock?
Unlocked as in US unlocked version? If Samsung did the same they did with the S7 variants, then yes. And by looking at the model numbers, it looks like a pretty good chance.

Thanks for the information -- I haven't used Sammy phones in a while, a bit out of touch. If that is indeed true, that's great news -- I'd hate to be under the thumbs of carriers for updates.

Keep in mind the bootloaders will still be locked though.
Yes with ODIN as long as you are on the Snapdragon 835 instead of Exynos 8895. As long as its from like SamMobile or updato it should be fine. If its signed by Samsung officially it should be flash with ODIN.

Not the US versions.
Just a question which model of the S8 to buy so we can root for sure and with built in hotspot that doesn't need subscription like the Unlocked Android without bloatware and you can use on att without needing to subscribe a hotspot subscription?
The international exynos unlocked model should work in the US.
Root is not confirmed on any S8/S8+ because the phone is not out - can't be sure the Exynos will be rootable like last year.
How could I make sure I get exynos model?

Depends on where you life... European countries get the exynos version. USA and other normally get the locked snapdragon version. If. you live in such a country you have to import it and get it without a contract.
Technically every version of the S8/S8+is "hotspotable" (is this even a word ) however it depends if your carrier allows you to use it. but normally it isn't locked or at least never had been for me. But I have a German carrier in Germany. I am not sure but I think Verizon and telekom in the us are locking it. So in this case you would have to import a unlocked S8 or hope that you can root it. But I bet 100€ that again the snapdragon version will be not rootable...

So if the model number is SM-G950F, does that mean it is definitely Exynos? I may be buying in Latin America and would prefer to know if it is Snapdragon or Exynos before I hand over my cash.

That's a question I need answered. In the U.S. Best Buy list it with snapdragon but on Samsung's website it's listed as the 8998-MC. Also I need to know if the bootloader will be unlocked.

eSim is disabled on the US Unlocked model. It can be enabled via a software update from Samsung though. If the ever decide to do it.
If you can root it, you may try a Magisk module to enable it.
