What? I bought my OP 8 Pro a week ago, now there's a better version on the way.
Okay, I LOST.
Any true leaks?

They come our every six months mate. This is known.
But at the same time what exactly are they going to improve?
The CPU is the same albeit the + version.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were cross platform ROMs.

I'm pretty confident it'll be the exact same screen..
Personally haven't got a problem with mine even before they lowered the max brightness.
There will be something to pull us end users towards it..doubt it'll be a hole punch again, won't be the same place if not.
I dunno.

Perhaps the chip is the only difference, 865 plus.
But yeah, I'm satisfied with the 8pro, the T version is gonna cost a lot apparently.
Wrote this in the other thread, got closed so gets my two cents on the 8T or what I'd expect
The difference will be small incremental changes / updates, the 8 is already a pretty much perfect phone, I cannot fault it; maybe the battery if anything.
Remain
-----------
Screen will remain the same
Size will remain the same
Speakers will remain the same
Battery may / should get a bump
RAM will remain the same
Storage will remain the same
Connectivity will remain the same
Photochrom will be dropped entirely
Buffs / changes
----------------------
Price will see a bump
Charging speed will get a bump
Camera bump from 48 - 64MP
Front camera may get moved to centre or an additional one added, won't be a pop up.
CPU / GPU will be the + variant, honestly at this point it matters a lot less than it would have a few years back, the 865 standard is so powerful the bump to the + may be negligible unless they retain performance and really work on the stamina but I can't see it
Design of the phone may change slightly
New camera lens will take place of photochrom, perhaps fish eye or similar, is 3D still a thing.
On a personal note, I wouldn't get the 8T as I already have the 8, for you I would say; if the battery doesn't get a major bump then I'd go with the 8.
Plus the price will drop when the 8T is near it's launch or even announcement making it the obvious choice.
Then again, that's my opinion, it's up to you.
Also all the rumours at this point are just rumours, if you want a good idea of what the device will be like, look out for the next oppo flagship as it's usually a strong indicator of what will be next for OnePlus.
OnePlus bring a phone out every 6 months, however for the first time there is literally nothing that the CPU / GPU cannot run perfectly, there is no need for more speed now, strange territory, will be interesting to see if they keep buffing the performance or work on efficiency, the latter would be the logical choice but I guess time will tell.

hahaha, sorry man.
for me finding the sweet spot is a challenge, tbh the Oneplus 8 Pro ticks so many boxes it's an absolute first in my experience, it's just the battery i'd buff if i could.
But lol each to their own

Indeed brother, I also loved the 8pro it's amazing but yeah the battery isn't bad but not the best, I easily get 7h SOT with a good usage and QHD + 120Hz.
The latest update (10.5.13) is good and made the phone sightly smoother so there's still hope for future battery and performance updates xD

I'm just about to unlock and root, this is the longest I've been without unlocking a phone.
Strangely I managed 9 hours yesterday and I wasn't trying so if I'm debloating and or lightening the load can help then I'll be happy with that, plus future updates.

Nice, I always say stock is better but just can't satisfy myself being unrooted ?
I'm rooted and using a custom kernel and getting 7h SOT max with a normal usage. I feel like I could get better with stock but simply want to use a couple of things that require root.
When you root and use a kernel that you think is good, please tell me in PM, I appreciate it, thanks.

I'll always stick with stick kernel, least for now.
Currently testing xXx which is just as I remember it.
Quite impressed that so much can be achieved via a Magisk module Vs a ROM.
If I do jump on kernels I'll give up your a shout how I get on

Are the bugs like call drops and battery software related?
Is it a isssue that could be fixed? Or hardware?

I really don't know what are yall talking about. Yes there's a battery drain that's characteristic of 5.0 but easily manageable. I can get 5h SoT without too much hassle, and no dropped calls. But hey, to each their own. [emoji1]

And that's why I don't let myself get carried away by what people say. Positively or negatively, I bought this phone 2 days after it dropped in Taiwan. Yeah saw some issues, mostly coming from and S3 on custom roms and me being a custom Rom maintainer myself. But I saw the potential that this Rom can have and with a few tweaks here and there, runs like a champ.

Read again, I'm saying that me switching from an S3 on custom Rom to Asus stock was a change and saw the issues first hand but nothing that could be fixed with a few tweaks.

Maybe you are a lucky man with a bug-less fone :good:. Apart from battery drain, my fone had broken the power button, sim card 1 slot error, and especially wrong battery calibration which many user experience here :

Really sad that you had a bad experience with the phone. Personally other than the battery drain and self inflicted errors, mine has been totally different.
i came from S3 too..and IMHO is, my ZF2 beats my S3 in all terms, except there's not much user/developer involvement yet..unlike S3, everyday there are new updates or release on custom rom/kernel.. we just have to pray for ASUS to unlock their bootloader.. and currently ZF2 is on android 5.0..altho its buggy, hopefully ASUS brings 5.1.1 update to it..

Alot of mixed reviews ..
I think i ll wait more ...
One plus one is great too
As someone who owns a gs6 edge and a HTC m9 I have to say the Zenfone is totally worth it. Battery life has been great compared to the other two, performance is fast and fluid, the camera is good, the screen is beautiful. I'm actually considering using the one I got at the launch event as my daily driver. Right now I use the edge as my DD with my m9 as a backup. At 299 you can't go wrong. You get the most bang for your buck. I was very skeptical about the Intel soc performance but so far I have zero complaints about it.
I am absolutely delighted with mine. Was on a very restricted budget (had to buy two, one for me and one for my wife) so only got the 550 but actually glad I did because I'm not fussed about NFC or having a few less sensors, I find the 720p screen an acceptable compromise, and the bang for the buck is phenomenal. Yeah, there are a few flaws or irritations, but nothing major for me. There's a great deal of satisfaction in having got so much for so little

I know the chipset is very very fast ...
But there are people who are getting physically defective devices as well .. May be asus is bad at quality check?
Also dev support is a big question mark on intel sOc.? Because any company will stop the development for its old devices with passage of time ..
So we might not see next versions of android on zf2.
And it is difficult to live with the old stock rom throughout the time you own it ..
The present bugs might be fixed with ota updates... I GUESS :/

This is exactly my case too. The only thing I would add is the support from Asus does come. Everyone uses the phone differently and some bugs annoy more people than others, but for me it was the music playback stuttering when other apps were used, but that was fixed in today's update. Credit to Asus, they are fixing the issues.
One of the people who came from the s3, except I had the locked down Verizon version, so no roms for me.
This phone is 100% better in every way, and I'm absolutely delighted with it --- there's a few little software bugs I've noticed, but I doubt most people would notice them, and then there's the battery drain.
Even with the battery drain, I can't complain one bit about battery life, so I can't wait for 5.1!
I bought one...
I bought one based on several factors but here is one piece of info that most people should know prior to purchasing.
The 4g Ram 2.3Ghz Version is the only one that comes with the 18W charger!!! So the phone does get hot when it is below 60% charge due to the 9 Volt 2 Amp charging. After the phone reaches 60% it steps down the 5V 2A which will allow the phone to cool while still pumping in the juice at a fairly good rate.
The heat is an expected side effect of the massive flow of power into the battery.
My opinion on the subject... Keep the 18W charger in your car/purse/backpack/briefcase, and use a 5v 2A charger for everyday charging. :good:
Heat+Electronics=Bad things especially when it comes to batteries. :crying:

The phone and quickcharging implementation are designed around that... It's well-known that these accelerated charge solutions pump a lot of juice and ramp up the heat.

Sighh.. so guys, i had my mi mix for about 6 months and i loveD this phone. but i feel like its come to the end of the line already.
MIUI is basically unusable for me, missed notifications, calls missed by delay of ring & late notifications, group texting is horrible, camera image processing sucks, OS crashes etc. (all this before rooting mind you)
But after rooting all of those issues went away....for a bit.
so since day 2 i had it rooted running lineageOS and switched to RR, but 3 months later and up til today i started experiencing:
Slight screen burn
Constant OS Crashes/Random Reboots
Cell Signal dropping in areas that it didnt while running MIUI
Still bad camera image processing
Call Audio dropping extremely low when volume is Maxed
Bluetooth disconnects while my phone is in my pocket (didnt happen on MIUI)
and several other things.
I work in I.T. and cant have some of these things happening while at work.
I started looking at alternative devices and since the Pixel 2 is too dang much for my pockets I'm considering the Pixel XL.
I hate that the screen is 5.5 inches over my 6.4 but I need something nice that works. I'm wondering if i left if I'd be happy or nah?
Personally, the screen real estate and battery life the mi mix provides are too good to leave for a mere 5.5 inch phone. Also, I'd rather have 1080p over 1440p as I consider it a waste. I don't mind the lcd over amoled, I love the screen just fine, and I don't take lots of pictures so I'm not really bugged by the camera. Overall I consider the pixel xl an ugly ass phone and think it'd be crazy to change your beautiful and futuristic mi mix with that humongous display for an ugly small screened phone that doesn't even have a better processor. Hope it helped

what are ur thoughts on the G6 or Huawei Mate 9?
The way you are talking you seem to have made up your mind already.
I find it odd though that I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms you mentioned.
My guy u do realize your 1 in the possible thousands of people that own this phone correct? Nobody's device is perfect. This is what I'm experiencing personally not the whole mi mix end user list. The only thing I have made up in my mind is that my phone isn't gonna last forever as my daily driver because of these issues so I'm seeking suitable alternatives before I make the jump.
Get the oneplus 5t, it will be coming soon and has a newer processor than the pixel xl. Or s8+ if you can get it for a decent price in whichever country you're from.
I've always rooted and modified whatever phone I've had and I can say I love miui it's smooth it's fast it has built in theme support which is what I mainly rooted for I'm sorry you've had issues u gave miui only 2 days before u jumped ship I would flash stock miui 9 from epicrom and see if issues resolve before downgrading to pixel XL....but with the recent software improvements and price drop essential phone should be a consideration before pixel XL it's newer it has SD 835 and screen size you're used to and at 449 u can still get 450 for mi mix easy and be out no money just my .02

Appreciate the reply! I'll give this a shot, although I dont see why stock android wouldnt give me a better experience than MIUI. I used to love miui back in versions 6 & 7, and im not saying its bad now but i just had a bad experience with it on this device. but ill definitely give it another go!

Thanks ! im in the USA, but i was trying to stay around that 500-600 price point, the S8+ is kinda pushing it being as though its $724.99 over here. the one plus is definitely a contender for the future though
I would try a few other ROMs before getting a different phone. AICP has been rock solid for me now for months.
One issue your having is the custom roms - I tried them all and more or less they all get buggy over time [some more than others]. I run stock global and its has next to never crashed [fc'ed], call quality is fine and carrier permitting the notifications [network related ones] show up fast / local ones never get missed.
Two the pixle only has a camera that's better, screen is worse more or less - storage is A LOT worse and you don't even really get a more durable device.
Been using mine as my daily driver since I picked it up in late Jan 2017 - its really never failed me as long as I didn't go rooting / fiddling with things. That brings me back to something I mentioned awhile back in another post. Miui doesn't like to be tampered with - roms based on this tend to become unstable [been using miui roms since 2008 or so and the behavior has never really changed]. The non miui roms are stable enough until you go messing with them too [especially visually]. In addition to that many of the custom roms seem to leave things out, often little things but they add up to annoyances.
Its your money - but the Pixel isn't the one I would go for if your looking to replace this thing. Its not that good a phone. Look at the Mate 9 / 10 series or some other designs.
Hi everyone!
I recover this thread some time later because I am very sadly considering selling this wonderful device. Development is very poor and doesn't look to get any better and that is a crucial point for me. I mean, I have a Nexus 5, left out from official Google development a long ago, and community's very strong and development is never stopping, great kernels, some good Oreo builds... It is very sad when compared to the Mix.
I love this big guy but probably will sell it soon and move to ... That's the problem! To what??
This discussion was carried out a while back and some new players have appeared since then. What are your opinions? What would be the best alternative?
Top of the game specs and big screen are musts for me and those two features combined make it real difficult ...
Thanks in advance!

Well, we have AOSiP that is going to be updated to oreo soon, and the new notification system in the MIUI developer rom made me have interest in MIUI again.
I agree that the development is poor (although the ones that do/did develop are/were awesome) and its sad to see developers leave but Im proud to own the device that pioneered the bezeless screen and even does it better than the modern flagships (and the MI MIX 2 ) and it is the most beautiful brick in the world.
My plan is to wait for oreo from AOSiP and meanwhile try the MIUI developer rom again with the new notification system (I cant afford a new phone so I have no other choice ).
About alternatives, I think the honor v10 is a great alternative (low price and great hardware and software) Although there is almost zero development in xda for this phone (because of the kirin processor) but EMUI is now great after the EMUI 5 update and huawei phones are a part of the first phones that got the oreo update so the support from huawei is good.
But In my opinion the best alternative is the OnePlus 5T and I think I dont have to explain why  .

Yeah more or less in the same spot. Still waiting and hoping for the guys behind AOSiP, AICP and Viper to bring Oreo to the Mix And maybe some new developer to get the phone and play around with it a bit.
The OP5T does look cool, probably the best value right now in the market. Maybe similar to Mix 2 although dev support is probably better for OP devices in general.
One thing about new notification shade: it is supposed to be there in the 7.12.8 beta (only china beta) , but it is not there in the same release of xiaomi.eu... Haven't tried official MIUI but I find it strange that it is not in the xiaomi.eu mod. Know something about it?
Searched miui forum and read changelogs and stuff and didn't actually find anything clear on the matter. And no official global beta since 7.5.25 I believe...

Yeah, back cover seems OK but that full display screen is kinda fairy tale. I and some were expecting Mix 2 to come as +6,4'' screen with less bezels and it became worse. So I keep my expectation about the display screen a bit low.

Didn't see it yet. Samsung perhaps does a bit better job over unlimited screen but they cut from edges and put it to top/bottom. Jeans' pockets are not capable to make them fit lol. What a PITA.

Going to OnePlus 6? well good but isn't like the price difference as it was in the past, thinking of getting a nokia 7 plus to give my gf this phone, not that I have any issue with the phone, CarbonROM CR6.1(android 8.1) performs great but why not have twice the battery life if I can? ..plus the fact that my gf has a lenovo with a terrible mediatek cpu and only 8GB of storage - it's so slow

I think my next phone is google phone, I love the smooth on that which never find on any other phone even install AOSP on them. Only these phone can have that smoothess is Sony anh HTC but they dont have lastest and fastest android version and sercurity patch on their phone (U11 still stuck at 8.0 and Dec 2017 security patch). Even nokia phone power by android one is lag too. Now I only root to control battery charged level threshold to save battery life and increase volume step but in android P google increase volume step to 20 and thats fine to me, also accubattery can alert me when it charged to specific level so I think time to say goodbye to custom rom soon. You can see most active phone in stats lineage is old phone

I think to go for Oneplus 6 unless the Lenova Z5 releasing tomorrow is really a miracle.
If opt oneplus 6 I am confused which model - mirror or midnight ? , I read few articles on it but still unable to.I will use a case , but durability (both are glass though) and pure black is my thing , White one on the way but not for me.
Note : I have nexus 6 and Oneplus 1 - to know me.

Imagine Nokia 7 Plus with a non-unlockable bootloader...wait, don't.
I've been using the OPO since october 2014, and i'm very happy to announce that i'll move to the OP6. All i can say about the OPO is "what a great piece of technology", for four years i've never had a real issue with it or anything botherig me, and all of that thanks to this wonderful community of XDA. What can i say ,you've been keeping this phone alive so we don't have to change it each 1 or 2 years like other brand(i usually laugh at my friends changing their samsungs or HTCs or whatever) because it becomes laggy and buggy. Really what a phone to still perform as good as new in 2018 after 4 years, and i chose the OP6 in stead of other phones even if i found the S9 or the note8 at the same price with discounts just because of the community( despite the performance and the rest). After all they are only better than the OP6 in term of camera( that i don't use that much and the OP6 one is not bad after all) and the screen which i don't see the utility, because i prefer by faaar a usefull phone with a FHD screen than a laggy one after 2 years with QHD. Even if my phone is still good for another 1 year or more, i think it's time to switch, i will give it to my mother because i don't see the point of selling it( i prefer to put it in a drawer than to sell it for 100$ lool). And i prefer to choose this comunity because, unlike the other ones, this one is more active, and even when sometimes OP doesn't fix something, the community does.
I hope i've been usefull and helpful for some people these years and thank you aaallll for helping me when i needed help.
Even though i don't have the latest and greatest, My OPO with SultanROM is running good with only occasional hiccups. Waiting for some good offers to upgrade. OP6, Honor 10, Mi8, Discounted Pixel 2 XL in pipeline. If i wait too long till Pixel 3 get's released. Will move on to it. As of now, no pressure of upgrading at all.

Well I'm evaluating my options as my gf would need a new phone soon and I have a chance in getting something better(not that I'm not happy with 1+1 ..carbon rom makes me quite happy these days BUT why not have moaaaaar battery life? )
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE seems a great alternative BUT ...no B20 band support so it's a bust. Xiaomi Mi 8 is promissing but 6.21" display seems big and it's bigger than our phone although it has smaller bezels
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE with 5.88" and smaller dimensions would be amazing(SDM710) but that B20 band support is troublesome
..Still searching for anything that fit my needs while it won't exceed 300e mark
P.S. In order to achieve the best security if phone is lost, the bootloader should be locked - The coin always has two sides
Does anyone else think that even years later this phone is still a fantastic phone even in line with mainstream phones coming out now? I've passed up on upgrading on my contract 2 years running now, since my mate gave me the le max 2 not long after it came out. Even looking at the latest Samsung's and and other top of the range phones coming out, I don't see any point in upgrading, the le max with the latest roms that are still being developed, and this phone, I believe is on a par with anything, the hardware is great, I've not had a single issue with anything on this phone at all, not even a slight blip, it's been %1000 solid and I believe will be for a long time still. I look at the latest phones on the market and think, what benefits are there over this, and I see none at all, this phone still runs smooth as butter, runs anything I've ever attempted to play on it perfectly. I just can't believe how good it's been, I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon and never in my life have I had the same phone for so long, but to not have a single fault with it in all that time either, just makes this a brilliant phone. That's all I wanted to say haha, and maybe see if anyone else agrees with me?
Heyyo, I most definitely do as well! It's really impressive how much tech they crammed into this device while keeping it really affordable. It was more than $100 CAD cheaper than a OnePlus 3 and an official release of LineageOS was all the confidence I needed to buy one.
It works great for me and yeah I also don't really see a reason to upgrade heh.
It's really too bad that Jia Yeuting screwed up LeEco so bad when the Le Max 2 and Le Pro3 and their friendliness to unlocking bootloader and kernel source code were examples of how much potential LeEco had if they kept up with devices like this...
I'll be keeping my Le Max 2 for quite and while and keep contributing to the community ROM scene as much as I can! We will continue the work that LeEco started. :good:
Yeah it is great, and the best part for me is I didn't even pay for mine I have a friend who works for twitter and they basically give him a new phone every few months, to use, but to also test out and stuff at the same time, this was one of them. He gave me last year the nexus something or other, I used it for 5 minutes then put it straight on ebay
I have not updated my rom for like a year or so, and I was starting to worry about the lack of security patches and stuff so decided to freshen it up, and I was shocked how active development still is. Just shows that even if nobody else posts here, this phone is still super popular and widely used
A year ago I was starting to get frustrated with it, but then Google Camera HDR+ happened plus a stable Oreo and it's a totally new device now! All thanks to the amazing work of the community!

I know, it is great, my sister just got the galaxy s9 and thinking she was great, I was like your phone cost like triple the price mine did brand new and doesn't really do anything that mine doesn't. What made it even funnier was the fact that hers only has android 8.0 and thanks to the awesome devs on here, mine has 8.1 she was not happy With this new rom it really is a whole new phone and I love it even more now, I did briefly brick it last night haha, but managed to sort it out thanks to the brilliant TWRP and adb sideload
Still loving mine after... a couple of months short of two years I think. Was really future-proofed with 4GB RAM, fast UFS storage, 1440p display and best of all the beast SD820 which has aged well and is still respectably powerful. What a bargain. And the fantastic Oreo custom ROMs we now have make it even better than it was originally and keep it bang up to date and relevant. There are just two things I wish were different about the phone - I wish it had better battery life, and I wish it had black top and chin bezels because the black borders on the display look bloody ugly with the gold top and bottom and would be much less noticeable if all black.

Exactly it's still running perfectly now even compared to the latest phones. The black screen edges have never bothered me, but you're not the only person I've seen that doesn't like them. As for the battery, mine was fantastic, would last 2 days easy, even with an average amount of usage, only now I've updated to Oreo, the battery is much much worse, so may need to try all the latest ROMs to find one with the best battery life.

I couldn't tell you, until the other day, the last time I'd flashed a new ROM was over a year ago, but like I said, I think it could have been RR, but either way that rom is old, a year plus. And I'm not talking two days heavy use, was like 2 days of average use sending messages, the odd phone call, Google searches and stuff like that.
Excellent phone.
I bought this phone for 200$ a year ago and till now I haven't found any smartphone as good as le max 2 under 250$.
All my friends also like this phone very much.
Only con for me was the crappy Chinese UI which came in build but thanks to the excellent development group, stable oreo roms have taken this phone to a new level.
I will use this phone for another 2 years.

Yeah that was the only downside, all the Chinese junk on it. But yeah the custom ROMs make it perfect. I am surprised because there was less development going on for this phone when it first came out than there is now. And I agree, I genuinely believe I'll be using this for another 2 years easily, if not more. I just don't see any upside to paying out money for a new phone that would not perform any better than this already does, and may only have an extra hardware feature or something else like that. I mean even if a new phone had triple the ram and triple the CPU power, what's the point? This phone runs everything perfectly fine, no amount of power is going to make a smoother experience than something that's already as smooth as you can get haha. I get no lag at all doing anything with this phone, and I've never had any issues running any games, even stuff I've seen that is incompatible with this device on the play store, I download it elsewhere and it runs perfectly haha. All I need to do is find another Oreo ROM with better battery than this one.

RR Nougat was officially maintained by andr68rus who has moved onto the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and there was an old and buggy Official release of RR O by unvesh but tbh they should just take that down as unvesh put out on release version and then bailed for a Xiaomi Mi A1...

Haha yeah it was over a year ago when I first used a custom ROM on this phone. It was only 3 days ago I finally upgraded to Oreo, mainly because I was worrying about the lack of any security patches in all that time. I'm really glad I did because it's like a new phone now, just a shame about the battery drain, I don't spend long periods out of my home so it's not a massive issue, I've been trying to find a fix for the network standbys battery drain which at the moment is using %30 of my battery and seems to be common to all Oreo ROMs and even the stock ROMs on new phones.

Heyyo, unfortunately that is the Achilles heel of the Le Max 2... Cellular radio. The hardware is not very good compared to other devices released around the same time for the radio antennas in our device which is why a common complaint about the Le Max 2 is low signal quality a lot of the time...
On LineageOS 15.1 I tried to mitigate that issue by using Xiaomi Mi5 (Gemini) vendor blobs for all cellular radio activities but it's still a bandaid on a broken bone and only does so much... I don't know of any hardware mods to improve the cellular radio antennas on our device which in theory would do a better job of fixing the issue
Agreed this phone is still a beast. I've been on Omnirom 7.1.2 without problems since I got it and have felt no need to upgrade to Oreo. Are there any actual plusses, apart from reduced battery life?

To be honest I never even knew there was an issue with the radio, I've never had any issues with low signal, in fact I switch my network from LTE to gsm/wcdma preferred so I only get 3g not 4g as on 3g my signal is much better and I get up to 3 mb/s downloads and on 4g is usually less than 1 mb/s so in theory the radio should use less power with a good signal as it only boosts the power in low signal situations. Also on my last ROM I never had an issue with it draining battery, after draining a full charge, network standby was usually around %5-%10 of the total usage, since coming to Oreo a full drain to %1 has network standby as %30 of the total drain.
Hopefully this is the right thread to ask this question. Please move it, if I messed up!

My question is for former Pixel owners who jumped ships to OP. I am thinking to move from Pixel 3 to 8P but I am wondering what prominent features will I be missing? I understand that gcam mod is alive and well on OP platform, but what about tight integration with G assistant? Phone call screens, text spam protection? Is there anything else that someone could shed some light? How happy / unhappy you are with the switch?
Pixel is growing old on me. The high price for the specs are ridics; Google is having serious personality issues, hard to see the direction of where they are going with the phone. I think I am ready to move to a new phone.
thanks for helping me to make an informed decision.
I didn't miss anything and gained much more current higher spec's for my usage!

Thats a solid statement; thank you. Do you use screencall feature? Is it working straight up on OP or do you need to mess with modules / magdisk ? How is your gcam mod ( or you don't even use it ? )
Bought Pro8 at launch, I unlocked the bootloader and rooted with Magisk but I don't need twrp. Played with some modules which there are many.... Stock OOS is excellent, on A11 and I'm more than happy with the 1+ camera & use stock phone setup. Really I've never looked back and will get the Pro 9 next year....

For some reason I used to get 10-20 spam calls a day, but with the screencall feature / automatic spam call rejection I get 0. My biggest fear is that I may be hurdling toward that situation, if I jump ships. Other than this, I feel I can live with everything else. 8P looks amazing. Thanks for the feedback!
Tell your what you won't miss, that awful battery life
10 hours SOT on most days here.
Really good phone, I can't fault it.
As others have said root is a breeze and the community is pretty active so there's that too.
You might miss the camera for point and shoot but you can take some phenomenal pics on the 8 Pro.
I just moved to OnePlus 8 Pro recently from Pixel3XL. This phone is a treat to use daily and everything works nice and stable. Couple of misses so far:
1. Losing widevine L1 after unlocking bootloader
2. No RCS on Google Fi on OP8Pro as of now (>7 months after release).
3. ROM update with root is a bit (only slightly) more of a pain than on Pixel where I had an automated script based update coded using ADB.
For Camera, I use both the stock and GCAM port. GCAM port gives more detail in shots just like on P3XL. I am happy with the camera performance so far.
Biggest hits so far:
1. What a treat that display with 120Hz refresh! Wow!
2. Just smooth, no hiccups performance! I think 12GB RAM helps here quite a bit. 4GB of P3XL just wasn't enough
3. Battery life!
I moved from Pixel 3 XL to a Samsung Galaxy S10 for a few months, then jumped to the 8 Pro as quickly as I could (that S10 was the worst phone ever!).
I miss the Camera. The camera quality was definitely better. A lot of times i would take pictures, and i'd crop out smaller areas because they were what i was really going for, and even though that meant zooming in on an image, the fine details of the pixel images were so much better than any other phone that it looked like a picture from any other phone, its something thats terribly overlooked by almost everyone!
Battery life is better.
I do miss having a finger print reader on the back, i just like it better...
I miss the AOD, i think its better than what we have now on the OP, but its good enough. I still miss the one on the pixel though.
I think what i miss the most though is the front firing speakers! Anything else is trash, but "trash" seems to be common nowadays....
When it comes to things like phone call screening, i believe there's a way to get that on the OP, but i dont really care much for it. I've started using (and did so soon after getting the 3 XL) the app called "Should I Answer?". I set it up to reject all calls from numbers that arent in my phone. I get 20+ calls every single day, and even when i used the call screening, it just resulted in more work for me as they tried to get me on the phone. My new method allows people to leave a message. If its important, they will, and i'll call them back.
@PMad are your saying that the pixels battery is better than ? The 8 pro?
I agree on the camera though
> I miss the Camera. The camera quality was definitely better.
Compare GCAM on OnePlus 8 Pro with GCAM on P3XL. The photos get slightly more detailed on my OnePlus 8 Pro compared to my P3XL. In all aspects, they are identicle, with OP8Pro slightly better. Not sure if P5 would have given better results. But P5 is very disappointing for me.
Grab gcam for OP8Pro : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1486/ version Arnova8G2, 2020-11-15)
I am very satisfied with the camera performance. Its not the best right now but neither is the Pixel.
Is NOW PLAYING functionality or any similar app available for OnePlus 8?

I think the battery is better on the OP8Pro, but the optimization is better on the Pixel. On my Pixel's, all of them, i'd go all day and have roughly 25 to 40% battery left. I was getting slightly more then that with my OP8P until i upgraded to Android 11, now i have to charge up around 7 or 8pm because im at < 20%. Not sure what happened, i'll go into the battery options to see what used most of it, and there's only like... 10 things using at most 2% battery, so its a bit misleading, still not sure whats doing it.

Did you wipe after the 11 upgrade?
Always best to have a fresh start between bases.
I average about 2 days and about 8-10 hours SOT
Obviously comes with a fair bit of tweaking but yea that's my average..
Currently actually running pixel experience on 11 and battery has been lessened, idle is superb but any kind of work I give the phone burns more battery than what OOS did.
Maybe it'll improve with updates and or a different kernel.

Nope! There's a chance that's contributing to the issue, but i have a few other things i think are causing it. I'm too lazy to dig into it though haha, i dont mind charging it in the evening.

Automated script based update?
I came from the Pixel 2 XL only thing i miss is the call screen where you could have your assistant answer the phone. And its really not that big of a deal
OnePlus 8 Pro proud owner.
Let's say that you take 9 Pro in march 2021.
You will have the latest and the best hardware on the market. Maybe we will get Zeiss lens for camera.
Phone is well build and looks good.
Oxygen is awesome OS! Also, except Google OnePlus is the first to get software upgrades.
Battery is decent. But that depends on the user...
Warp charging 30w/6A, there is no need to explain... And it will go to 65w or more.
Now, from 8 Pro we got 30w wireless charging. That is Great! And it will go to 45w or more.
