Hi!
Does anyone know if there is any possibility to put another rom or use another app than the official one on these W26 watches?
I'm talking about Lemfo or Iwo W26.
Hardware doesn't look bad but software is awful.
Thanks in advance!
I cant find anything for this watch too. Perhaps we're searching for the wrong terms?

I had mine delivered today (I got it as I'm moving away from Apple). The watch faces included are fairly average and I was hoping to find a good wxp. Unfortunately it doesn't have enough space available to actually install any.
I'd love to see a custom firmware will most of the watch faces removed to allow for the inclusion of others.
EDIT: I'll add that the official Apple Watch bands work with these watches - which is pretty cool
Hi All! First post here... Hey, were you able to get any reasonable measure out of the blood pressure/temperature/heart rate sensor? It seems completely fake to me. It seems to show pseudo random values around some mean. Even the charts you can see they're no more than a bunch of looped animations. It behaves the same if you strap it to a tree branch.
I was wondering maybe I just got a watch with an early or demo firmware version... But every reviewer I found on youtube just seems to play retard ignoring the fact or hiding it one way or another.
Please, could you confirm or deny your own watches's sensors to be fake?
Thanks in advance!

The heart rate sensor does appear to be doing "something" - that is, if I don't have it on my wrist, it doesn't record a heart rate. But comparing the recordings with an apple watch (series 0) the values are not that accurate. The graph that is displayed in the heart rate app is just an animation and doesn't reflect the actual heart rate.
Saying that, I purchased the watch as a cheap replacement - for I'm leaving Apple's ecosystem - but this watch isn't the replacement. I will wear it though as it does have 3 days of battery (if auto wake is off), and I do get notifications from my phone, so it has that.
What I would like is the ability to use a different watch face - but trying to upload custom watch faces all fail with insufficient space. Oh well. Get what you pay for.
EDIT: I've just done a quick test:
1. remove the watch from my wrist and placed it on the desk
2. start the heart rate app
3. observe a heart rate in the high 70s to mid 80s
4. realise that the HR monitor on this watch is BS.
5. accept the fact that the HR monitor on this watch is BS and don't use the watch for HR monitoring.

Hello, Does anyone know how to update the version rom (firmware)? help meeee, I tried some code and MediaTek app, but still can't... help me pls! thanks!!
I guess in life, we get what we pay for.
This watch is a cheap toy. It may resemble an Apple watch in appearance
but functionally it does not even come close. If anything it is a fashion accessory
rather than a functional device. None of the health sensors work. The firmware can never be updated.
Battery life is atrocious. This little device only does three things.
Tell time, give notifications, and oddly, you can make and receive calls.
And it actually does those things very well. But for $30 USD what did I expect?
Yep, sounds just like a $30 toy watch

For those of you who don't know about these new head units. It is the first headunit that is running an Android based operating system that is compatible with MirrorLink.
I can't post a link but if you google "mobile electronics magizine xav-601bt" you can find a lot of info on it.
I am curious what people are going to do with these once it is rooted, just think of the possibilities!
What are the chances we can get MirrorLink to work on all android based devices? So far it looks to only be planned for new phones but I am sure that we could change that.
Nobody else thinks this is amazing? You now can install an android based computer/audio/video in your car that you can mirror your phone's interface on!! Literally your car can now do everything your phone does, something people have wanted to do years.
I'm doing some research on the XAV-601BT right now. Saw you posted some info on another car audio site and I would like to know what you think of the unit. Such as: what apps would currently integrate an xperia pro freshly updated to android 4.** and are there any known issues with particular devices or configurations? Any mod sites messing around with getting rid of the bugs yet, safety nannies or performance wise? I can't find much besides chatter yet.
You mentioned that you had access to a unit and if it is installed could you give some details of what it is pushing and how it is performing?
Thanks allot. I am holding out for another unit that has been delayed again but this might make me pull the trigger. And yes, the prospect of running all my phone apps via my head unit makes me happy, let alone being able to root and customize.

I think you don't have the right phone for it.. only Nokia and the new Samsung Galaxy S3 support Mirror Link.
I've read somewhere that Mirror Link is hardware based, but maybe it's the same technology as MHL.
Thanks for the reply. I read that the 2012 Xperias would be MirrorLink capable too. I came across conflicting information on it being implementable for smartphones that had output capabilities of uUSB and HDMI like my Xperia pro. If a phone can support RealVNP I think it should work but I'm just learning about this technology. I've got some research to do on this before I pull the trigger because I want/need qwerty with my hand size and I don't see anything similar to the pro in the pipeline that would come factory capable with MirrorLink.
Anybody know for sure what it would take to run MirrorLink on a phone like the 2011 Xperia pro?

He is right about the S3 and nokia phones being the first supported. Windows phones and other phones are expected in the future but there is little information available. I originally heard that mirrorlink was a hardware solution but now I believe it is software. There is a good chance that it could be ported but it is going to be hard to tell until the S3 launches and some people on here start playing with it. I also hope they make an area for the XAV-601BT and XAV-701HD on this site so people can start focusing on rooting the unit as it is Android bassed.
I have used the unit and even without the mirrorlink it is an amazing unit. It literally does everything I could want in a double din head unit.
I currently have the xav-601bt i picked up from my audio shop yesterday. I also have a htc sense and the unit will only display unsuported device. Speaking with the sony west coast rep today, I was informed that there will be rollouts for the mirror link. It seems that it will be an app you can download from the play store.
The rollouts are expected to be every 60 days, but as for what phones are capable of running the mirror link protocol remains a mystery.
I offered my phone to be tested for there software but he will have to check with his higher ups about that. I am hoping that it will soon be available for download and one of the developers that crack it to work with other phones, like the netflix and hulu apps.
I am still waiting on information from the east coast rep on this as well. If I get anymore information I'll be sure to post it here.
Could you post some experiences with this unit? Do you think it's fast enough? How about the touchscreen; how well does it react to your finger and what about the sun.
There is a russian video on youtube giving a demo of this device.. not much to understand (at least for me) but at least you can see the features a little bit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGMxaMnfTFo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB9V641jTZQ
As you can see in the video, it's not as smooth as I hoped for.. sometimes you have to touch something two or three times before it works.

I have this unit as well and have had it since late May. It is actually pretty responsive(for a touchscreen head unit) and boots up fast. I am coming from a x930BT which was horrible in both of these areas. The having to press more than once is more related to how accurate you need to be to hit what the unit considers the button. It is small area that accepts the input for that button, hopefully they address this in a FW update.
As for the Sun question - pretty bad, but my car has a bad location for the radio that doesn't help the problem any. The sun beats directly on the screen and it is completely washed out.
Thanks tvrvic for the reply
Hmm the sun problem is not a good thing, a lot of units have problems with that and I hoped that a big company as Sony wouldn't have this problem.
I've had this unit for a few days so far and love it. I'm order the steering wheel control adapter today. It has a matte finish on the screen and that helps the glare, I can see the screen just fine.

Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.

Hi Guys just asking for a bit of an update - im in the uk so the bigger 701hd isnt out yet, i was looking at the Alpine ICS x-8 which also supports mirror link - there is a demo out on youtube which shows it working with the Galaxy S2! Do you guys think this would work with the S3?

This head unit does not actually run Android, so there's nothing to root. It uses MirrorLink to mirror your phone's display on the head unit. You'll have to wait a few months for Clarion's double din Android head unit to release to have Android running natively on your head unit. There are some cheap no-name head units out there right now running Android, but they're poor quality and I don't think any of them are even running Gingerbread.
thanks for that info.
so the sony won't be hackable. given that, is mirrorlink's app approval mechanism hackable on the android end? does anyone know mirrorlink tech beyond:
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP™) is used for controlled access to applications. Virtual Network Computing (VNC™) is used to replicate the phone's display on the navigation screen and communicate user inputs back to the phone. Besides Bluetooth™, audio can also be streamed using the Real-Time Protocol (RTP).
MirrorLink™ also provides a mechanism that ensures only approved applications are accessible while driving.

I just installed this unit in my car - the Open source license page on the unit shows a lot of .apk files and also reference AOSP, and Linux 2.6.x licenses - so it is Linux
The mirror link support looks like it comes from tmlibs.so - which they published on their support site (Trying to find the links - I downloaded what they published for opensource -
the libraries they put on their site were: (Repeating tar.bz2 was their names)
EDIT: the url for the sony site is : http://www.sony.net/Products/Linux/Audio/XAV-701BT.html
GPL_SGX_KM_20111130.tar.bz2.tar.bz2.tar.bz2
alsa-lib.tar.gz
dnsmasq.tar.gz
iproute2.tar.gz
iptables.tar.gz
webkit.tar.gz
kernel.tar.gz
and the most interesting
ML_Necessitas_Build.tar.bz2.tar.bz2.tar.bz2
TmLibs.tar.bz2.tar.bz2.tar.bz2
The TmLibs looks like it has a mirrorlink server and client embeded, using the QT libraries in the ML_Necessitas, and there is an ortpLib directory in there as well.
Would it be possible they are running some android apks within the system as the USB music app seems very androidish (menus & icons) while the ipod app not so much?
http://www3.jvckenwood.com/english/car/mirrorlink/compatibility/kw-nsx1.html
Support for the Samsung GALAXY S III is planned. Car Mode compatibility will differ by country or region.
Support for Europe was going to be available on July 20 2012.
But, Support for Europe will be delayed to August 31 2012, because of software development has been delayed.
And timing for US/Canada is TBA. Support for Asia/Middle East is TBA.

So MirrorLink with the JVC will work at the end of August, so I guess that will also mean Sony will support it by that date.
I want to source an Android smart watch from China for a project am working on. I want to change the menu interface it comes with and replace with a custom interface specific for my purpose (means no custom control to intended audience).
Thoughts Needed
Does anyone here have a similar experience?
Are they good at customizing ROMs and interfaces according to requirements?
If not, how easy is it to hire somebody to build a custom ROM with custom interface (for say MTK6572)?
Any recommended suppliers you know?
Phase 1 MUST HAVE Minimum Requirements - 100 Units Order
Android OS
GSM/GPS
Touch screen
Mic/Speaker
Charging points on the back side (no micro-usb slot on the side)
Shortlisted AK-S5 or AK-S7
Phase 2 MUST HAVE Minimum Requirements
All from Phase 1
IP67 or IP68
Magnetic based charger point on the backside
Heart rate sensor at the backside
Shortlisted - None available yet

Please note: to date no Chinese Android watches are IP67, even the ones that provide proof of IP certification, I've learned that the hard way
AK-55 is the Z01
The AK-S7 is or looks like ZGPAX S7
I'm sure you have experience dealing with Chinese sellers, but if you don't . .. . be extremely careful, even using Paypal, trust no one!

I have a chicken-egg question ... Which came first - AK-S5 or Z01? Which of these (or among numerous others on Alibaba) is "original" (designed first)? If there is no traceback and everyone is using the same reference design, as long as it works as intended, does it matter? I did get this supplier to show me the watch on skype video (though it doesn't prove anything).
My main question is - if the supplier really has a "fully working version" of S5 or Z01, and is ready to supply - they also say they will do ODM - any experience on their skills to make a custom ROM and change the menu interface to my needs? If not, anyone here willing to build the ROM and interface (paid)?

I started looking into smartwatches on XDA from Mar 2014, so my history before then is limited. For me it started with the Omate TrueSmart, their Kickstarter campaign that promised it all and delivered a lie. I could be wrong, but Omate made the watch first (x201) and the rest copied (or someShenzhen firm made it first and Omate copied ) @pizzaman77 - knows the full history of Omate clones x201. But yes, now it does not matter as long as it works.
As for the development, you might get lucky and find that someone is already doing what you want or similar on the Omate forum - search on the Android development threads. I'm not a dev, so I don't if the Chineses sellers have the skills, doubt it. But the Devs on XDA will have. Look at this Omate thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oma...rom-omate-truesmart-ironman-firmware-t2998434 - lots of dev going on on the Omate and its clones.
@kuronosan - is a key dev, still active, he might be able to help with paid work. You should start with making a new thread in the Omate Dev forum with your request.
@Lokifish Marz - knows a loooot but is not too actives these days
Please keep me informed on your dev plans (if its not top secret ) - i really really want to also buy a bulk order (maybe only 5 to start with) from China and sell them in the UK, but i need to join someone who is ordering in bulk so that i CAN only buy 5 units to start with. The other issue is i would need to fix any software issues first then sell them and if they sell then buy more. Can PM me if you wish. Thanks.

Thanks a ton @simple1i. I will start a thread there.
Do you know any Android watches that fit my Phase 2 requirements (couldn't find any on Alibaba or similar sites)?
I did find a few watches fitting my spec without Android (either Nucleus or similar). Is it advisable to build on those platforms given that Android is now into wearables Reason I chose Android is because I want to be able to easily change supplier and/or watch hardware (looks) later easily and just port the code/functionality rather than getting locked. Else it will become an EXPENSIVE affair later. Am I right in thinking so?

Yes I'd stick with Android, lots of resources available, gives more flexibility. I don't think Nucleus OS is a viable option yet, it would be too expensive.
I take it SIM is a requirement too? I'll look around, the IP67 is not available yet, maybe the Ironman 3rd generation might be IP67, but the company (Unova) is full of liars, I was ripped off with the 2nd generation, I proved it's not IP67. Other then the IP67 the rest might be available, you'll need to search for it on AliExpress.

Yes, with 2G. 3G really not needed but if it comes with it, cool. Couldn't find any with android and heart rate on back side, keeping IP67 on the side.

Found the answer ... http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/what-operating-systems-do-wearable-devices-run-on/
Looks like Android Wear needs a compatible Android phone for it to work.
So, I'll stick with just Android.
General rules with Chinese Android smartwatches
Broken firmware
Major security holes
Little to no official support (this includes the phone side app)
English (or any other language other than Chinese) for the phone app is very rare
Incomplete source code (when you can even get it) that is a generic build pulled from a phone
Inconsistent battery life due to broken firmware
IP67 is more like IP54 if lucky
Poor build quality and QC by western standards
Not Lokifish supported (I've walked away from the industry as a whole until they get their collective heads out of their butts)
kuronosan's time is limited so fixes may be slow
Depending on your needs and goals. Talk to Ingenic. The HW is a little slow on the Newton (SmartQ Z uses it), not sure about the Newton 2. Either way they have source (Linux, Android, etc). The package is small enough that you could design and build a smartwatch that's about the same size as a real watch, but the display will need a new "crystal" to pull it off nicely. Find a compatible round display, and you should be able to use off the shelf watch cases with minor modifications giving you a 200m diver's smartwatch if you do it right.
*Side note
Even with a 1/2 million buy in for 3000 units we designed ourselves, Umeox still would not have provided source code, and little to no support. That's what the Chinese ODM's are like. kuronosan can verify this.
@abuduri - I'm not sure if my reply to your PM went thru? I can't see it in my sent folder. Did you get it?
I'm still working on stuff for the Omate. I just haven't actually had any free time as of late. I can't just take off of work to put work into a device that's difficult to troubleshoot. If I can be of any help let me know.
I've just started working with smartwatches, but I'm happy to help however I can. I'll be attempting some work on the s8, and I know my way around Android pretty well.

Im in the same boat.
I have looked at all three of these watches, what i dislike about the W3 from i have seen is it has a clamp style charger.
Im leaning more towards the Mlais Smart Watch which looks really nice, just waiting for some reviews first.

Yes..i agreed about w3, further more, i kind diasgree when u have to flash new firmware b4 it can work fully. It should be ready out of the box.
Mlais is using android 5.1...maybe it same like howear rom..but, from what i know, once it use 5.1, thats mean its not companion anymore, its mire like standalone without simcard..(correct me if im wrong)
I really cant wait for the mlais as after pre-order sales end, the price will be higher (ridiculous high)
I like Rwatch but it has flatyre screen and from the internet i can say this ine having problem with touchscreen and heart rate sensor..
And as i pre order ulefone future phone, i really want to try this GW01..
I think its weird but i cant find any info here in xda..
Maybe because its very good no problem at all or
Nobody use it, buy it..

Yer i know, same problem i have.
The Ulefone GW01 was my first choice before i seen the mlais watch now just cant choose.
as for rom flashing and standalone devices i really have no clue.
Im also looking for a smartwatch that can change clock skin, msg notifacation, without sim and circular shape and possibly heart rate monitor.
Tomorrow is the last day at GB for the discount for GW01..after that the price will be usd99+
I will appreciate any opinions
I wish i would find more video about this ulefone watch but i couldn't.
Mlais is not a bad option..in fact, from what iv know, this is only watch come with 5.1 out of the box..
Could someone tell me, this 5.1 android without simcard are actually as companion as zeblaze series in term of push notifications.
I see video by darkanglez (maybe wrong spelling) and frank tee about w3 new rom..but it not cover enuff about notifications..but it does produce a great video about general. I can see on those video that it has developer option, runing 5.1 rom.

I will not trust their answers..i trust more xda if someone could answer it..
Gearbest also reply that this watch cant change the band infact this watch could.
Like zeblaze, it has fix 5 clock face and through fundo u could add 3 extra which is so ugly...but it can add some extra trough apps installed in fundo.
If this ulefone can support more clock face..its really good..but actually, have u guys know that any companion watch that can add extra face?
W3 can but after flashing new rom (howear)
Mlais uknown, but think of it will be running 5.1, it should be able to change any watch face available.
Rwatch r11?..

Yer from my understanding the Moto 360 has the ability to change clock skins, push notifications.
and as time passes by the Moto 360 1st gen is looking better and better especially for the price.
I was just looking for something cheaper and different.
Yes..moto 360 can change clock skin, and still pricey even 1st gen (esp for me..)
Become forgot about mainstream brand since looking the chinese brand..(mainstream brand use snapdragon processor)
Oukitel a29 really good but with simcard

Another 2 watches i have been looking out for are:
Ticwatch - which looks amazing has nice features but as far i can see only available in China. (no good for me)
Bluboo Xwatch - looks good so far with four customizable buttons but very minable info on the item/release date.
Yeah...bluboo xwatch. They produce a good phone, they should done the same with smartwatch..but im afraid it will not companion, recent trend chinese smartwatch maker tend to use simcard as selling point.
Ticwatch use 5.1 with option to run full android wear..its interesting untill i see the price around usd158-160
For the price tag, mlais seen better choice if...5.1 they use are companion.
Moto first gen at usd99 also good...
Which one to choose..sigh..
Ulefone gw01 or moto 360 1st gen

If i had to choose now i would go moto 360 considering how much community/company support it has, as the Ulefone gw01 has no real review or community support yet.
the major downside to the moto 360 is the back is made if glass and alot of people saying it always cracks, so it has its flaws.
Its just so hard to decide when the info your looking for isn't available.

I'm a bit skeptical about it being truly from ulefone after watching the video below, no ulefone branding anywhere..
(video not in english)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7LYIastZnw
There is Ulefone Logo on the crown..but nothing at bottom case..even nothing on the box..
Without any announchment by Ulefone..this is maybe another chinese smartwatch..haha..hard to say..
If this works like i want..then its worth.
Or maybe..hunting for new watch again..
Hi,
Today is my birthday, and my girlfriend got me a cheap smartwatch. I'm happy with the sediment behind the gift, believe me I am. However, there are a few things that caught my attention:
The proprietary android app (used to push notifications and such) has advertisements.
It is possible to flash firmware onto the GT08.
So I was wondering, is it possible to flash stock android wear (or close to stock) onto this watch? If so, could someone direct me to a guide? I would be happy if I could use the Android Wear app instead of this ad ridden thing by the manufacturers.
Thank you in advance.
I'm in the exact same position as this person... can anyone help? Please :fingers-crossed:

Yes, Me to!
Simple Answer is No. Even with old Android Wear like Sony SW3 (deprecated) nobody can made an updated OS

1) yes -- dev / programmer
2) yes -- proprietory equipment / software required.
It's cheaper just to buy a better watch if you 'HAVE' to have those capabilities.
I have a 'timemaker' from amazon watch, its decent, and it works as a watch. Sleep not so accurate, hr not so accurate as my table has a pulse of 160 (should really relax a bit) it does not count steps very well.
troublebshooting 'nameless' brands is always a challenge and most mod apps will not work.
So in short if modding is what you 'NEED' get a brand name watch; asus, samsung xiomi etc.
If a good estimate of your lifestyme (sleep, hr, steps) is good enough, then the no name is fine.
Always read reviews and check out companion app reviews before purchase (I'd have recommended a different one as the first one had to be sent back)

I was thinking, with the new range of Chinese smartwatches and some having NFC (granted it's just door unlocking etc) but as some of them these days have heavy OS's like Android 8-10 (massive power hungry) why don't they opt for Android Go instead (which is specifically aimed at low specs?) would it be possible just to wipe the OS from one of these watches and stick Go on there instead (saving a **** ton of battery?) and in relation to my original thought, if it had NFC would it be possible to get Google wallet working as well?
i have the A-TGTGA CK 30 Smartwatch i would really like to do this if possible, the OS on this phone is very limited and the watch faces are not very good, i would to have the option to download new watch faces.

I have the Oppo Watch 3 Pro that runs AOSP instead of Wear OS, which I love so much better. You can download and install phone apps fine, the battery lasts me over 5 days with normal use before I have to charge it. I'm just having issues trying to install Google Services which needs to be there for Google wallet to work in the first place. Still trying though! Otherwise, I'm so happy I bought this watch. It's running the new Snapdragon W5 Gen1 processor and it has never slowed down on me once
