Music players not saving playback position - SWM8802 - Android Head-Units

I'm looking for a music player app that will successfully restart playback from (approximately) the position where it was when I switch off the car.
In the past, on my old Android 2.1 unit, I used Music Folder Player, and it did pretty good. But on the SWM8802 I'm fiddling with, it only seems to save once per track, not each time the unit is turned off. This would probably be OK if I only had 3-4 minute music tracks, but some files I have are over an hour long, and my driving trips are normally 5-6 minutes each time.
I've also tried:
Pulsar, which doesn't seem to save the time at all, even after I've set it to do so on 3 minute or longer tracks.
Double Twist just crashes before it even shows anything.
Google Play Music takes ages to start up and always starts from 0:00
Any suggestions?
Edit: Never mind - it looks like the stock music app works well enough for what I want. Not sure how I missed that all this time

Some MP3s cut short by TF3D music player?

Hello all.
I just noticed this quirk today, and was curious to see if others have encountered it as well. And of course, if they in that case have found a solution.
My problem is that the TF3D music player has a tendency to cut some files short. When I discovered the problem, I was listening to a file that is supposed to be 54 seconds long. The music player, however, loads this as a 32-second file, and once it reaches the end of that, it skips to the next song. At first I thought the file was incomplete, but after loading it in CorePlayer it plays all the way through without problems.
Strangely, it is sometimes possible to get TF3D to play the entire file, by scanning forward a bit, and letting the song finish. On those occasions, the song length is still listed as 32 seconds, but when it reaches the end of that, it waits until the song is finished before skipping to the next one.
On this song the problem was pretty obvious, since almost half the song is missing, but I have also noticed it in smaller scale on other songs, where the last second or so is cut uff in playback.
I have tried to soft reset the device to let the music player re-read the entire music library (I thought the problem might be an indexing issue), but it didn't help. I have all my music stored on the memory card, with SDTuneUp installed on the device.
Any takes on this?

[Q] Shuffle in Music if screen is off

Not 100% sure if this should be in Q&A or apps, but I'll take a shot...
I like using Music instead of NemoPlayer for some reason. I think it sounds better, however silly that may be. However, in shuffle mode (haven't tried it off shuffle), if the screen is off, when a song ends, it can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes before the next song starts playing. As soon as I unlock the screen, the next song will start.
So I have a couple questions...
1. Obviously, is anyone else experiecing the same thing? and...
2. Is there an even better app for music listening? I tried Doubletwist, and while it does have a nice interface and I like the idea of the PC app and its sync feature, it (the PC app) kept crashing on my 120gb, 24,000 song iTunes library, so I uninstalled it.
I would like to start in shuffle mode too. If it's in Music, I haven't found it. I have to start playing a song, then I can turn shuffle on.

The delay switching songs sounds like the cpu was throttled down to the point it had issues. When the screen is on, the cpu doesnt throttle down so much.
Sorry to get a bit off topic, but what is battery life like listening to music on this tablet? By listening to music, I mean exclusively listening to it, not listening, browsing, and gaming all at the same time
You can go literally days only listening to music. I last charged it Wednesday night, and still have over 70%. I did a little surfing yesterday afternoon.
Oh, and I found shuffle... at the top of the song list.
The odd thing about the pause is that it doesn't do it if I'm listening to music using NemoPlayer.
Here is a similar issue. Infortunately without solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15759232#post15759232
Hope this helps.

Let's talk about music streaming from the cloud (i.e. box.com)

So, I followed suit with alot of you and got my 50gb of storage from box.com....which is freaking awesome because I use box to share study guides and old tests with my pharmacy school colleagues anyway...
And now I'm trying to make the best use of it. The 100mb limit or whatever basically limits me to music, which is FINE. When I'm driving or studying THAT'S when I want to stream my techno/trance/electronic music, BUT
1) the stupid xperia car dock. everytime I plug in my phone to my car charger it thinks its in a dock, which is probably the most annoying thing on the planet. Especially because its so obnoxious it stays LOCKED like that forever afterwards
2) ok BESIDES the car dock issue, the 3G streaming for box: HOW do you keep the music playing/buffering/loading AFTER your screen turns off? I know this is an elusive question from doing alot of googling but does anyone have a fix?
its so weird because the FIRST time I stream off the box: I load up song, it begins, I put phone down, screen turns off 30 sec later, song keeps playing
but after that first time, everything goes to crap: I load up song, it begins, as soon as screen turns off it plays whatever few seconds it had buffered then STOPS. if i turn screen back on it BACKS out of the music player and back to ES media player (is this what you guys are using to stream off the box?)
so is the only real solution to the crappy functionality of box.com media streaming to FORCE the screen to STAY on and then I guess plug in charger so your phone doesn't hemorrhage itself to death?
I'm working on getting a Tversity media server all set up and that will be nice, but even for the times my computer isn't set up with my router and such, it'd be nice to have a solid 50GB in the cloud to stream some music for those long car rides...

Audio randomly stops (youtube, browser, etc). I have to press play for it to resume.

Happens everyday (even with my S6). It'll stop when audio is playing for a bit, or after I hit the volume button. It doesn't do it constantly through out the day, but it'll happen atleast once everyday i'm listening to audio. Anyone else?
Anyone?
It is happening with my S8 either when playing games or youtube and even music.
This problem started after the software update. So i think it is a software issue..
Whenever the sound cut off, i just lock the screen and unlock it back....
Hope Samsung will release a software update as soo as possible
Games is fine for me, it's just players like YouTube, music apps, and players inside websites. Just gotta press play again. Pretty annoying, but happens atleast once a day, not constantly through out the day.
It happens to me in Youtube and NBA app when video is being played.
Sometimes the screen just shuts off completely too.
I agree it's not consistent.
To add, sound not working sometimes when i am using skype and even sometimes for my alarms.
What do you think, is it a software problem or hardware?
Seems to happen more through out the day now. It's pretty annoying.
This just started happening to me yesterday. I've tried restarting my phone, pausing the video and playing it again, turning the volume all the way down then back up. All of those things restore the sound but it'll cut out a few seconds later. Also audio plays just fine in my headphones.
I dont have my s8 yet, but this sounds like a problem I used to have on a previous galaxy s phone (i think it may have been the s4). It turned out I had a setting enabled where the player pauses or stops when I'm not looking at the screen. It's called smart pause. Could be something similar although i'm not sure.
Uggg
Same problem here. Got the s8 less than a week ago and I use spotify offline (downloaded) and Google Music for downloaded files and it always pauses after about 15 minutes, sometimes sooner. I don't use battery saver, and none of the 'smart' features are enabled. It happens with headphones, without headphones, on Bluetooth. Just pauses the song and I have to hit play again, super annoying and I can't find any fix. I'm really regretting this purchase.
I also have S8 and currently experiencing this kind of issue. Every after 1 minute of playing either youtube or videos on my phone it paused and I didn't even clicked it.
I have a problem like this on my s7edge. Then I thought it can be related third party apps. And yes when I uninstall Sputnik news app, it solves the problem.

Music "playing", but no sound after sleep resume

I have a very recent Android 10 PX6 unit (android build 20200706, MTCE_GS_V3.53_3) with a very painful problem. If i'm playing music (say in Youtube Music) after an ignition off/on event when the unit comes out of sleep (not cold boot) the music app time bar is still progressing like it is "playing", but there is no sound. Often i can even change tracks, fast forward etc. and still have no sound. I have to either a) kill the app and start it again, or b) open the native radio app (which always works flawlessly), then switch back to the music app. At ALL times, the system sounds are working e.g. button pushes, so there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I suspect the sleep mechanism is taking the audio channel away from the music app and not giving it back after resume. The radio app is different because it is playing from the MCU (i think).
Any ideas on how to have music resume correctly?
