I have a very recent Android 10 PX6 unit (android build 20200706, MTCE_GS_V3.53_3) with a very painful problem. If i'm playing music (say in Youtube Music) after an ignition off/on event when the unit comes out of sleep (not cold boot) the music app time bar is still progressing like it is "playing", but there is no sound. Often i can even change tracks, fast forward etc. and still have no sound. I have to either a) kill the app and start it again, or b) open the native radio app (which always works flawlessly), then switch back to the music app. At ALL times, the system sounds are working e.g. button pushes, so there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I suspect the sleep mechanism is taking the audio channel away from the music app and not giving it back after resume. The radio app is different because it is playing from the MCU (i think).
Any ideas on how to have music resume correctly?

I am just getting my feet wet on the Android side of things and was wondering if someone can help me with how to configure my Joying 10.1" android unit running 5.1.1.
Currently with the default Radio, Music, and Video player apps, they all power off and on normally by bringing you back to the previous station, mp3, or video that was last played when the unit turns back on.
I am trying to switch to Rocket Music Player for the playlist support. However I have 2 issues.
1. When I have Rocket Player running and playing music, when I switch to the default Radio, Music, or Video apps from the head unit, the audio from Rocket Player continues to play in the background? How do I disable the audio mixing just for these 3 apps? I obviously want Rocket Player to keep playing when I run navigation or other apps, but I want it to stop for these default apps.
2. When the unit powers on, Rocket Player says that the task was killed and to disable the task killer to prevent this from happening again. Because of this, when I power the head unit back on, Rocket Player sometime randomly chooses a song from my library to play and not the last song it was playing for the unit is powered down. Where can I go in the settings to put Rocket Music Player on the exception list of apps to not kill when the unit powers down?
Do I need to try a different music app? Do I need to root the head unit? Is there a different app I can use to fix these 2 issues above?
Thanks in advance!
I tried PowerAmp and had the same issues. Is this something that Tasker can fix? Can Tasker kill just the audio for the stock Music and Video app when I launch either PowerAmp or RocketPlayer? Or will I only be able to kill the entire process? Sorry, I haven't purchased Tasker yet but will do so if it can fix my issues here.
Android Auto freezes up phone and it's very unstable with new Nougat update. First when it freezes I have to hold the power button until it restarts. Second when I am playing music through Google music the music stops playing, it still shows like it's playing but no music coming out of speakers. The only way to fix it is by unplugging and plugging back in. I am using on a VW infotainment unit 2016 Jetta. Let me know if you need any other info to troubleshoot it. Thanks.
Hello, new to forum. I tried searching but I have several questions that I can’t quite pinpoint so decided to just ask.
Recently purchased a cheap Android head unit off eBay for my suburban. Immediately after install I was disappointed and frustrated trying to figure everything out, but now I’m thinking it’s not user error but more of a software issue or a settings issue I’m not familiar with.
I’ll get straight to it.
Once installed I had no sound through Bluetooth, usb, or any installed app (YouTube, Apple Music, etc).
I found that the radio app did work, and after tinkering with some settings I got Bluetooth working (not sure what I did, think I was in the equalizer car settings). Well the next day I drove it for the first time and after a few minutes sound went out again. Switched to radio and works fine. So I did a full factory reset, and now it’s really screwy.
Now, Bluetooth only plays if I open the radio app. Radio does not work at all, the app opens and acts frozen, but if I hit play on my phone I get my music. If I open the Bluetooth app, sound cuts off. Music still shows playing on my phone, and when i reopen the radio app it pauses on the phone, I hit play and sound comes back. Still no sound through YouTube or any other music source, BUT voice turn by turn works through google maps.
I’ve tried doing a factory reset multiple times now (yes the full reset).
I tried downloading a new launcher, started with the carwebguru which resulted for some reason music only playing when the radio app was open, if I went back to the home screen or changed apps sound cut out. So I deleted it and downloaded FCC and it’s back to the way it was, Bluetooth plays through the radio app, and I can now switch back to other apps and music continues playing until I reopen another app that plays sound.
So, does this sound like this is a settings issue, hardware issue, or app issue? If it’s an app issue, what are some good apps to replace them with? I see a ton of fm radio apps but not sure if they’ll work, not really any Bluetooth apps, and I use Apple Music on my iPhone and have it downloaded on the stereo (although it doesn’t have sound, either).
Thanks!
Update. After playing around with some settings, I’m feel like I’m getting somewhere but not fixing the issue.
I went under the factory settings from car settings. Radio settings were set to NXP6851 and I changed it to FM Inside.
After doing so, the radio app works flawless but Bluetooth no longer plays through the radio app. Still no sound from YouTube or Apple Music.
So I set it back to the NXP6851 and sure enough, radio app is frozen and Bluetooth plays from my phone through the radio app.
I made a test phone call and Bluetooth works, but only through the radio app. If I open the Bluetooth app all sounds shut off.
Now, after playing around with it, I found that I can get the internal apps to play sound if I do the following: open radio, play music through my phone, back to home screen and open an app (Apple Music is what I used) and hit the play button. It stopped the music from my phone and started playing through the app!
I was excited as all hell, but it only played for maybe 5 minutes then the sound shut off again. Cleared all apps and sure enough, again the same process let me play music through the apps but only produce sound for a few minutes (not even one song).
Still messing with it. Anybody have any advice?
Thanks!
Figured it out. Not sure why but there’s an app called “mode” with two arrows in a circle. Hit it once and now everything works as it should. If i hit it again it goes back to just the radio working.
Hi,
I have installed a BLP-950A (Octa Core with Android 7.1) in my vehicle. Unfortunately, there is a problem with the integrated music player in conjunction with navigation apps. The music player crashes sporadically and then the navigation app stops working. Only when I close the music player completly, the navigation works normally again. The problem occurs on Google Maps and Here we go. However, if I run the radio instead of the music player, the problem does not arise.
TomTom Go has another problem that the default computer voice is distorted as soon as I put this app as the default navigation app in the system. If I take the assignment away, the standard computer voice works normally, but much too quietly, and it does not dampen the music when route announcements come along. How I can fix this?
Therefore, another question, I would like to change the standard music player with e.g. with poweramp. Unfortunately, Poweramp does not continue playing as soon as I turn off the device and turn it back on. I always have to open poweramp completely after each reboot and press play to resume.
Tom
I'm looking for a music player app that will successfully restart playback from (approximately) the position where it was when I switch off the car.
In the past, on my old Android 2.1 unit, I used Music Folder Player, and it did pretty good. But on the SWM8802 I'm fiddling with, it only seems to save once per track, not each time the unit is turned off. This would probably be OK if I only had 3-4 minute music tracks, but some files I have are over an hour long, and my driving trips are normally 5-6 minutes each time.
I've also tried:
Pulsar, which doesn't seem to save the time at all, even after I've set it to do so on 3 minute or longer tracks.
Double Twist just crashes before it even shows anything.
Google Play Music takes ages to start up and always starts from 0:00
Any suggestions?
Edit: Never mind - it looks like the stock music app works well enough for what I want. Not sure how I missed that all this time
