CrDroid has a wealth of customisations, including a very effective Face Unlock. It's also (for me) totally stable.
LOS is also stable. Technically they are both excellent ROMs, and I guess it's just a case of personal preference.
Colt OS, which I loved in its Android 9 version but haven't tried in Android 10, is undoubtedly also worth a look.

So you have experience with crdroid and lineage? What did you prefer?

I've used all three ROMs I've mentioned. I loved Colt 9, but installed CrDroid before Colt 10 came out and I'm more than happy with it. It's the one I use and recommend only because it has more customisations (I think) than LOS. I have LOS 17.1 on my Nexus 5 and it's great. But I suspect, based on my usage of Colt 9, that Colt customisations will also be great. I just like CrDroid 's Face Unlock so I'm sticking with it.
Two comments:
1. LineageOS is the main place for the device specific code. Other roms mostly copy that from the LOS repositories. The result is that the different roms tend to build on the same foundation (and a very good foundation that is).
2. VoLTE and wifi-calling don't work on any Android 9 or 10 roms. (Though we hope that @wavedashdoc will help us with that at some point in the future). If you need that, stay on an old version. In particular, you need VoLTE for voice calls if your carrier has shut down their 3G net.
Is Verizon (or total wireless / straight talk mvno under them) one that has shut down 3g Network?

The main appeal to me of purchasing the OnePlus Two rather than a Nexus was a combination of the hardware and the likelihood of a range of custom ROMs. The OnePlus One has heaps of custom ROMs available, however there are very few for the OPT.
Is this just because the phone is still fairly new, or is there another reason? I'm hoping it will change over time, otherwise I may have to consider the Nexus 5X.
I'd like to see some AOSP ROMs with layers support. Are we likely to see official CM nightlies with time?

Give it time. The one had cm out of the box so we had access to the source. Oxygen on the other hand is closed source so the great devs are building the device tree. So far they are doing quite well. We will see more customs with fingerprint support once marshmallow is up and running for the two. Give it time and be patient. We have all the major players right now though. Slim, cm, tamesek. All the great kernel devs @ak @Lord Boeffla are here. Give it time.

Yes, we are definitely going to have fully working custom ROMs just like opo. We need to be patient and wait for them.
There are already a few of cm based roms and 4-5 kernels (including the fabolous ak). I guess developers just need some times
Will wait patiently. I feel Oxygen is not utilizing the full potential of the hardware.
Wait for sources of Oxygen Os (if ever 1+ will release them), then i think we will get fully working CM ROMs.
I'm running PureNexus and its a great rom but is CyanogenMod a viable choice for this phone? I haven't really seen threads on it but i see there are nightlies being built.
Coming from an OPO CM was a pretty big deal but it doesn't seem so here. Is anyone running it that can give their opinion?

Lots of good choices and I've tried at least a half dozen. It's completely subjective but so far my personal favorites are RR, Pure Nexus and Screw'd. RR has all the extras most would want but it's really stable as well.
Yea I think CM gets lots of attention because it seems to be a popular rom to port to devices that don't have as many roms (or none at all besides CM.) Not that it's not really good. I've used it on other devices. Some were really stable, others I'd need to do clean installs every month or so. Using multirom now and have Pure Nexus as my primary rom with Uberstock and RR as secondary, but that could change from week to week.

PureNexus is great, really stable but i might try RR for the features. Isn't it CM based?

Based on CM and others. Take a look its right there in the OP

It's certainly buggy, but I've found it worthwhile. Root access, privacy guard and call whitelisting are features I'd not want to be without.
I am about to get a Axon 7 within a week and I am curious to know which rom(s) are useful for everyday usage aka daily driver rom.
There are tons and I am all confused about the matter.
The custom ROM support for this device isn't great, but it does have all the popular ones like ResurrectionRemix, LineageOS, AICP and AospExtended. My favourite at the moment is DARK ROM which is basically LOS 14.1 with some additional modifications; like the UI sounds from the Google Pixel, OMS theming support and unlocking after boot without PIN number. Once LOS 15 (8.0 Oreo) is released I will switch to that and use it as my daily-driver until the other custom ROM's also upgrade to Oreo.

Thank you for the reply.
It's a bit of shame that the support isn't there since this phone is really amazing.
Out of all roms you mentioned which one is the most stable and less "bloated" one?
I have no problem with stock but there is some issues that I am wondering if custom roms have fixed, like dropped calls(think it's software that messes with signal, never happened before) and random low volume.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that there isn't better support for this phone. I didn't realise when I bought it about a month ago that the situation was like this. Even my ZUK Z2 had a better community behind it which surprises me.
The most stable and least bloated ROM is definitely LineageOS, as that's the closest you can get to stock Android in the form of custom ROM's with just a few additional mods. DARK ROM as I mentioned before is just LineageOS with some extra enhancements. Both are stable but if you're after an officially-supported ROM with proper OTA updates, then LineageOS is the best option. I would recommend flashing Magisk v14.0 afterwards if you're interested in root support.
Over the last few months, ROM teams began feature locking and doing final Nougat builds to start work on Oreo. This period always leaves us dry for a time being. I've seen dry spells like this since KitKat. I anticipate a wave of ROMs in the coming months. Until then, there is a fine selection of ROMs to choose from. I do agree that the selection is a bit sparse compared to other phones. There is just enough to satisfy a flashaholics urge to tinker.
Let's hope the coming surge is better than the last.

I guess I will be using LineageOS, I am just too excited with this phone don't want to spoil myself and brick.

I am not a flashaholic but I know that most fixes are always done in custom roms or they optimize battery stuff, user experience and the ability to have custom kernel and schedulers are always welcome.

Good point. I keep forgetting the fact that most of the ROM teams are working on their final builds of Nougat and beginning progress with Oreo. At the moment it does feel like there is a slight lack of development, but like you said there is still a decent selection to choose from. (Lineage, AEX, AICP, RR, etc.) I did expect LineageOS 15 to have arrived already after seeing the screenshots and estimate of 1-3 days in the development thread, but that was of course 3 weeks ago and unfortunately it ended up getting delayed quite substantially. (I'm sure our patience will be rewarded though, if it means a more stable first release!)
The next few months should be exciting and i'm definitely looking forward to it, but for the moment it is a difficult time for us 'flashaholics' awaiting the initial builds of Oreo. I should probably indulge myself in another hobby rather than obsessing about when Android 8.0 will arrive on the Axon 7.
You're not alone. I look forward to testing and whatnot. I hope this phone can taking a beating like my beloved LG G3 did. RIP little buddy.
What guide should I look at to install custom rom?
I got a ZTE Axon7 A2017G
Also just noticed with stock rom playing games really drains the battery fast, REALLY fast. Every 3rd min is a 1%.
Another funny thing I noticed is that with stock rom if I press a folder and then exit the folder and then press again, the whole launcher crashes and restarts.
Oh and I noticed that the wifi connection isn't stable.
I don't get that behaviour with my A2017G. What ROM is it on ? Mine is Nougat B04 (AU).

Also I am curious to know. How do I gain back fastboot?(FIXED THIS)
So I am curious about roms/kernels.
I want to try a rom/kernel but I have been seeing there are a few roms that have something called "callbug" where the speakers make noise when a call is going on and when answering the mics are muted or call will be interrupted, no idea tbh.
So I would like to avoid a rom with such bug.
Title says it all. This is simply unacceptable. I am sure as hell not asking for LOS 14.1 support on the page, an official rom should never be released with a broken camera. Needless to say I plan on making LOS 13 builds because I do enjoy a stable Nexus 10 with EVERYTHING working, also I need to switch to LOS13 as a Sailfish OS base as opposed to LOS14.1 for kernel related reasons andas such need up to date builds which I have no access to (at least for now ha ha ha).
Is there anyone who would actually be interested in this? I am making some LOS 13 images regardless, I love this tablet, more so than my new Nexus 9 (the N9 is phenomenal though, perfect tablet IMO, I got a good one). Neat side note: I have now owned and used every single Nexus tablet ever made up to the Nexus 9, and soon, a Pixel C. I am proud of this fact. Nexus 10 is the best one for sure though.

Yes, I use one of the latest official LOS 13 builds and have no plans to move to a more new but less functional ROM.

Just got back from kakadu and my latest May 12th Build is finished. gonna start a development thread today once it uploads to Gdrive and I test it.
If you don't mind, could you please let me know which LOS 13 version is the most stable with headphone jack working? I am on a nougat rom and would like to move back to something more stable
Well, I use lineage-13.0-20180114..., the headphone jack works, but you have to reboot the tablet to switch the output back to the speakers.
Don't know which one was the last ROM without this bug.
There are too many custom ROMs for our phones but all of them are a bit same as pixel experience.. is there something different? Like oxygen os or one ui??
Hmmm, not agree with you. Pixel experience rom is as close as possible to the pixel's phone, UI and services or at least that's the goal, even if the rom for our phone is still a bit buggy of what I can read (even if the maintainer don't agree and ban every one saying that on telegram).
But many other ROMs offers you customization, more possibilities, and lots of different stuff. I think about havoc, bootleggers, crdroid, aex, etc ...
Each one match the attempt of different users, there is no best rom (but bad dictator Devs exists...), It's up to you to find the one who is closer to your daily use.
Just an opinion of course, I'm not pretending l'm always right and will be happy to read others different point of view.

I believe that all ROMs that you write are very close to pixel experience. I tried all of them and have very same things.. a lot of people waiting for something different.. something like oxygen os or one ui android
Onestly I think that every rom' family start from Lineage based sources and add its own customization & other things.
I'm on Lineage now. Clean, simple. That's all.
My 2 cents :good:

Yes actually this.. all ROMs start fro lineage but all are similar to each other.. For example for redmi note 7 pro there are oxygen os rom and one ui like Samsung phones.. is there anybody who can build these ROMs for our phones? Something different
