Mi A1 not able to make calls into German landline network - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I have a Mi A1 with LineageOS 17.1 that works fine, except that I cannot make phone calls to German landline numbers. I just hear some very distorted noise from my opposite, while he doesn't hear anything from me at all. Calls into the mobile network work fine.
The problem has already occurred before upgrading from 16 to 17.1.
The problem occurs for both SIM slots. After ejecting the SIM card and inserting it again, sometimes one or two calls are possible, then the error occurs again.
I have another Mi A1 (with a broken screen, though), which works fine.
Does anybody have an idea, if it is a hard- or software problem? Any ideas how to fix this problem? I would be thankful for suggestions.
Cheers

I have the same issues with stock ROM since June when making VoLTE Calls into any network (mobile or landline) in Germany. Try to disable VoLTE (4G Calling) in your SIM settings. At least that helped on my device - however falling back into GSM is a terrible workaround!

Thank you! This actually helps and makes my phone usable again!
It is still puzzling why this phenomenon occurs for one device and not for the other, why it occurs only for landline calls in my case and for all calls in your case, and what has made this phenomenon to occur at all. But at least: there is a workaround! Thanks!

Can't make or recieve calls though 4g works fine.

Hey, my name is Chris, i'm from Greece and I recently got a Huawei p8 lite ale l21 and i can't make or receive any calls. When I trying call someone i get a "mobile network not available". In dual sim setting i can see my sim working in slot 1 and i have full signal and 4G perfectly working all the time. Also slot 2 is totally useless as when i tried to place my sim there i did not have even signal.
I have searched around the web a little bit but i have not find something really helpful. Any ideas?
It will be helpful to change my ROM to a custom? My current version is C432B170. That was the first thing that i thought but i m not very familiar with that kind of stuff
Edit: I ve install marshmallow 6.0. Nothing changed... Still have 4g, full signal etc but i can't make or receive calls.
Anyone?

I was experiencing with similar problems, although the calls were coming through just fine, but after dialing any number, or trying to call from Contacts, the Dialer force closed immediately.
I disabled all installed xposed extension, and my problem was fixed all the sudden after the reboot, and calling works fine since then.
Your problem seems different from mine, maybe you should try swapping the two cards, or try to get them replaced at your carrier.
Also, the ROM has to be dual-sim in order to get the second slot working, and the second slot will work only with 2G and calling.
same problem here...any luck ? :\

Hi there
I had the same problem as daviddosa. Except, even I have disabled then uninstalled all exposed module, the symptom still appearing randomly. Now after several reboots and factory reset I could not start calling. Maybe I going to reinstall a stock ROM.

Sim card disappears after 2-4 minutes when making calls with VoLTE enabled

My v20 drops all calls between 2 and 4 minutes in, and usually around the 3 minute mark. The call drops, signal goes to zero, and a moment later I get a toast message saying "Loading SIM card contacts..." and then I can immediately dial back in.
WiFi calling is disabled, though the setting being on or off doesn't seem to make a difference. I've cleaned the SIM card and added tape to the back to ensure good connectivity - no change. I also went to T-Mobile and they replaced my SIM on the spot but it immediately happened again in the store and in front of the clerk when we tried a call. They've suggested a warranty exchange.
One interesting thing I've found though is that disabling VoLTE calling fixes it entirely - it no longer drops calls, but of course there's no HD voice and I can't use band 12 and they're already cutting back on HSPA coverage.
Haven't found anything else useful via Google or XDA. Even with VoLTE enabled there are no data drops, VOIP calling via hangouts works fine. Anyone have any ideas short of a full exchange? Not rooted and while the LG backup app is pretty good, I really don't want to go through the day-long process of restoring everything if I can avoid it.
Hey there! I had the same issue, exchanged the phone for a new one, and STILL have the same isssue! Did you ever find another fix? This is so annoying and I cant believe a bigger deal isn't being made of it.

Been owning V20 for about 5 weeks now. The first 3 weeks were pleasant until I started seeing dropped calls. Disabling VoLTE did not help. Changing sim card wouldn't help either.
I'm having similar issues H915 Freedom Mobile.
Was roaming on AT&T in the US when I first did the update. And everything was fine till I was home and on Freedom.
When Wi-Fi calling is enabled. It makes no difference if mobile preferred or VoWIFI preferred is selected. It enables either way after reboot or turning Wi-Fi adapter off and on again.
Incomming calls frequently don't come through regardless of whether vo wifi is on or off. Texts same problem. And persists sometimes on cellular and sometimes on VoWifi.
Get SIM errors, signal drop constantly. And have tried everything I can think of to rectify the issues with zero success.
Anyone with Freedom having similar issues? Or any suggestions I might not have thought of that may be the the cause?

Can't get signal on GRA-UL10

Hi, I need urgent help as I can't get a signal on my P8. I'm in the UAE using Etisalat and my phone is not getting a signal on C185B385 or Arrow ROM. It just happened without me doing anything. I've tried wiping data and it has not fixed the problem. I do have IMEI but it's always on emergency calls only. I don't think I was blacklisted my carrier either as I have transferred my SIM to my old LG G3 and it's receiving 4G signal.
Please help, thank you!
Many people are having a no signal problem with the huawei p8, atleast with 3g. Seems like there is no solution yet.
My 4g works and i can text. But if i try to make a call or change to 3g and 2g only I get no service.

The thing is, 4G doesn't work, nor does 3G. Huawei sure is great with their phones *obviously sarcasm* If I get a new phone, it surely won't be Huawei and will probably never be.
Although, I have discovered a workaround in which you put the SIM card in Slot 2 and set 4G to Slot 2, then put it back in Slot 1 and leave the 4G option in Slot 2. Sadly, it's only 2G but hey at least it works and saves a bit of battery with only 2G. But I need 4G, so I put my SIM in my good old G3.
Well my phone only has 1 slot so for me that wont work ._. (Gra-l09) I actually was lucky enough to win a huawei p10 that i will receive in 2 weeks. Hope i don't get the same problem. If I do I will never buy from huawei again either.

Woah that's great! Let's just hope your P10 won't have a problem because my cousin won a Huawei Nova Plus from a photography contest hosted by Huawei. And the phone reboots when he uses GPS lol. Again with Huawei's "great" engineering.
Try to reflash the stock rom and the stock recovery.
Tried to do that. Doesn't seem to work though. It also happened to me without me doing anything. Used fromfuture-home rom for a couple of weeks. Then calling gradually stopped working so I could only call sometimes. I thought it was my carrier so I made so many calls to them but they said nothing was wrong. Also tried to change sim. Now it does not work at all. I found a quick fix that worked for a while which was putting the phone in the freezer for a while. Feels like build 3xx for some huawei p8s causes a hardware fault. Everyone who has got this problem got it at about the same time.
Right now I'm using cyanogenmod flashed on top of 100% clean b321
I have the same problem in my P8: i have internet and wifi but i can`t make any call nor receiving
I flashed stock rom C900B370 without results
MelonsMasher, does cyanogenMod solve the problem?
Thanks a lot
My Huawei P8 (HUAWEI GRA-UL00) doesnt pick up 3G signal as well. One of the SIM slots is set at GSM only and it works perfectly fine. The other SIM slot is set at LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto but it can only access 4G only. When i try to call, it fails. When i set my SIM slot at WCDMA/GSM auto, it says 'Emergency Only'. I can be able to access data but no calls because, the system must fall back into 3G inorder to make a call.
What is the solution to this? It happened for me few times in the past and I have to hard reset the phone to get it back to normal. But then, all my contacts, pics and whatever i stored in my phone including email and social networking sites will be lost as well meaning I have to start all over again. Is there any way to solve this and not getting rid of what is stored in the phone already?
Thank you.
I may have to change my phone to other Brands if this issue is not solved.

Network issues beacause of baseband version?

Hey guys, I could use some help over here:
I unfortunately deleated my imei and baseband version due to factory resetting my MI A1 a few month ago. Eventually I restored these and I was able to use the phone again. My problem now is, that the quality of speak during calls is a catastrophy. Most of the time I can't unterstand my partner. While in austria (or any other EU-country I've been since) there is no problem with calls, in germany, where I live the most of the time, I'm not able to receive or make calls because of the bad quality. Is this maybe Baseband related? My Baseband-Version is .TA.2.3.c1-00723-8953_GEN_PACK-1 and I'm running the 8.1 Beta (5th May 2018). My provider doesn't offer VoLTE, could this be another point?
Maybe some of you can give me some tips how to solve this problem.
Best regards
Flippo
PS: When I go to the #*#*4636... telephone infos the default setting is TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS. Is this the right setting for me?
Factory reset a phone doesn't touch imei
It looks like you just messed up with your persist partition
If it's the case then
There is plenty of tutorial here that can help you to get back a working persist.img
Hey, thanks for your answer. I used the factory flash file and this deleted the IMEI and bricked my device. I don't what happened back then, but the only way to get the device running again was to reflash the persist.img and restore the IMEI with QCN. So do you think I should flash another persist.img over the recent one. And which one should I use?
Does no one have a idea?
Update: The problem only occurs when the phone drops down to 2G for calling( my provider offers a very poor 3G network, so nearly Everytime). When there is 3G available, call quality is absolutely clear.
What's wrong with my Mi A1?

Nothing on your side, change provider I've been using one provider but they had terrible 3G/4G and I've been forced to use 2G because of that so I switched to another provider and now 4G signal is full.
I'm facing the same problem on 4G. Using a Nexus 6P with the same sim on 4G works great but on A1 signal is very poor.

OnePlus 8 Pro VoWifi issues on airtel

Is anyone else facing VoWifi issues on Airtel in India? The same sim works well on my OP6T, but on my new OP8Pro (12+256), I cannot hear the other side once the line connects till I disconnect my wifi. I can hear the ring, I can hear the covid warning - just not the actual sound on the other side once its connects. I tried two different wifi, same result.
Any suggestions?
Could it be network issue
Are you sure wifi is the issue. I have set wifi and data to be used together and haven't had any such issues.
In most cases the phone is ringing even during the covid alert recording.

It's definitely a software issue of some kind. It has to be linked to wifi, as the issue is with VoWifi - it starts to work the minute I turn off wifi. VoLTE works well. I thought the recent 10.5.11 update will fix it, but it didn't.
There's a lot of echo in OnePlus 8 Pro (12-256) when using a earphones or Bluetooth headphones
Any solutions?
