On October 23rd I purchased my Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900W8) Canadian variant from Rogers Wireless and after a couple of weeks using the device I noticed two problems.
1) The proximity sensor was always at proximity value 1.0 (ADC value goes from 331 - 1004)
2) The glass screen popped up a little near the sensor area (glass is not glued properly to the chasis) resulting in a small gap (about 0.3mm). Its big enough for me to put a toothpick between the glass screen and the housing.
Now the proximity sensor works fine as I've tested it using the *#0*# and the values are able to go from 300ish to maxed out at 1004 when entirely covered. So this told me it wasn't a dead sensor. After careful examination I found the screen problem and when I used force to push the glass back into the chasis lo' and behold the prox. sensor is functioning as intended!
I sent the device in for warranty repair once stating specifically the screen and the sensor. They took my phone for 2.5 weeks returned it plagued with the same problem. From what I can see, all they did was flash a new firmware (MJ4). Now I can't even root to change the threshold value for the sensor without tripping knox
Any suggestion on how to proceed? Most importantly I want to solve the screen problem.
If its a hardware problem. .. You should get it replaced. .. Take it back to them and show them what is wrong and tell them they done jack to fix it. Please give me new phone NOW! !

All sensors, except fingerprint, are not working (accelerometer, proximity, light, heart meter, etc.). And my LED indicator is always glowing red (not bright, but low light red).
Any ideas why aren't they working?
Btw, I have submerged the phone in swimming pool and took one video for about 10sec.
=====UPDATE====
It is overheating and draining battery like crazy now.

Hello,
I am sorry to say that, but your phone got water damage.
I had an a galaxy s5 and took some photos in the swimming pool, and water got in the phone. First it would not work at all, later it started working again but none of the sensors except the fingerprint were working.

That is just great. And it is "waterproof" phone... I just hope warranty covers that...
Blackview BV6000 is the phone that is waterproof
Hah! The same happened to me just today.
Very similar situation by the way. Went to the pool (the kids pool, it isn't even deep) to make some underwater videos to show off the smartphone camera later, and bang.
Symptoms:
Display is stuck with the "maximized for best viewing under sunlight" message.
Accelerometer, gyro and motion sensor are all stuck
Fingerprint sensor takes a looong time to recognize my finger
When pressed the Power button, it activated the SOS Messages (meaning that the Volume Up and Volume Down keys were also pressed), sending messages to mom, dad, and two friends.
Any news on the warranty in our cases?
Problem solved
Hello guys
My galaxy s7 edge was dropped in water thereafter no sensor was working.
After investigating problem for 6 months I just got changed my proximatory sensor strip in $15 from local market.
Further if there is water (oxidation) in mother board then get it clean carefully with some special liquid and dry with warm air.
Now all the sensors are working and another problem after upgrading to Android N ' late wake up' problem is also solved.
Thanks
A possible solition?
Hallo,
i had the same problem on my Galaxy S7. All Sensorsw stopped working without me doing anything. Also it didn't fall or came near water or anything. I had only zeros or N/A on the *#0*#-test screen. An update to Oreo also didn't help.
My solition was to shut the phone down and hold the power-botton for like 30 seconds. After that I just powered my phone up and it was working again.
I knew this trick from my laptop, and i hink it's used to drain the charge on the motherboard, but i don't know.
I hope it helps
Hi. Did you mean that power off the phone and after that hold power button about 30 sec and then power on the phone?
Your instruction not clear because i want to try it. Please respond as soon as possible, all my sensor not working

Guys yesterday I cleaned my Zenfone 3 the whole body including the fingerprint hardware using a wet fiber cloth then my fingerprint suddenly doesn't worked I think it's because of water entering inside the fingerprint hardware? But I did a test on calculator .12345+= the fingerprint test is fine.
I even tried restarting my phone and wipe my fingerprint a lot of times but still the same.
What should I do?
hi guys, did anyone have a problem with your sensor??? via test * # 0 * # (sensors) Inside the test area all sensors are apparently off , iris sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, heart rate sensor, magnetic sensor, accelerometer sensor and barometer. all the numbers are 0. and I do think the sensor is not broken, but they do not work. My phone is G950FD,
and after updating (about half years ago) all the sensors are borken, what can i do.
Hey, I have the same phone SM-G900FD and my sensors are dead... all of them. It happened a year ago (give or take). One morning I turned it on and first the screen rotation and then every other sensor went dead. I couldn't fix it... My service man said that it was due to the bent motherboard on my phone, but I doubt it since I didn't bent it at all and many other people have the same issue with their S8 plus like you. We now have bootloader U3 and we can't downgrade it to Nougat from Oreo (many have said that this solves the issue). I don't know, you'll just have to live with it like me, 'till you buy a new phone...
Please forgive this annoying question, but I recently dropped my K20 (and myself) in seawater in a boating "accident" and, obviously, the phone stoped working immediatelly. Opened it, dryed it, cleaned it with IPA, to no avail.
Then, after 10 days, it came back to life. The only thing not working was the FP sensor. So I bought a new one, but the phone still doesn't recognize it. I remember a problem with some phone in the past that when the FP sensor was replaced, it would not recognize it before resetting some partition or something. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe the new sensor is busted as well, or the connector from the bottom PCB to the upper one is damaged, I know, but any information would be appreciated.
