Adaway works fine as does Titanium Backup , though I've not fully tested titanium I've only used it to freeze some apps.

read this..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686734
It worked for me after applying this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686627
An alternative way is to install BusyBox, I heard someone say that should do the trick as well. I can't confirm that.

Thanks alot this worked out perfectly. All I had to to was flash Cyanogen's froyo-rooter-signed.zip and Titanium Backup worked again. Even though many of my paid apps aren't showing up in the Market, at least I can restore them until Google fixes it.
I did it by installing busybox. Worked perfectly
Just hit "Problems? / Yes, do it" if you're using Modaco's Froyo rom. This downloads and installs Busybox "automagically".
For some reason when I try to backup all my apps, only the data is being backed up. The application and the market link are not being backed up. (This is a fresh backup, with no previous backup files present)
Has anyone encountered this?
EDIT: It was recently updated, now everything works as it should.
After trying several ROMs, seems each one installs their own sets of apps that get listed under the Not Installed portion of the Market. Been trying several ways to uninstall these apps that are not installed to no avail. Did a search of the forum and tried Titanium Backup or reinstalling the app then uninstall them. Neither method works. These apps seems to be ones that the original developer of the ROM specifically wanted. Any other ways to remove these apps that are listed under the Not Installed from the Market?

Well I tried Titanium Backup Pro and it didn't work. Not sure if I used the right settings but I couldn't see the offending apps listed in the Backup/Restore list that are found in the Market under Not Installed.

From my understanding using Titanium Backup on MIUI can cause problems (has done in the past) I was just wondering what you guys would recommend in getting my stuff across?
Titanium backup will be fine, but if you're worried you can always use ADB backup instead.
I would be more worried about if your backups are from an older version of android.

Could you expand on that please?
TB in the past has caused problems such as force close etc coming from MIUI which makes sense as it's a different framework.

I Installed a custom rom.... Pure nexus by @BeansTown106. The root checker app from the play store confirms I have root installed correctly and I have had no issue with installing applications such as adaway.

I'm running the same ROM and no problems with Titanium for me. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

only thing that has suggested an issue is this https://www.dropbox.com/s/yzr67cb1qa91u8m/Screenshot_20151226-234809.png?dl=0
When I back up apps, when I go to copy them on my laptop they aren't there or are in an unrecognised file type. Used to work fine on lolipop.

That warning is normal, it usually goes away after a reboot.

I'm not sure, it always shows up for me. You could try copying the contents of the Titanium folder to another folder using a file manager on your phone, and then copying it to your PC.
I have the same issue. The titanium backup folder shoes up as 0 yet file in map mode. However, if you boot into TWRP and connect to to PC, the folder shows as a folder and can be copied. Not sure why this is but would love a solution.
Hi,
For a non-rooted device, which backup application should I use? I would like to have a backup of my applications and its their data.
I couldn't get Helium to work because of the desktop password error.
Anymore suggestions?

If you decide to root your phone use Titanium Backup which is at the playstore..
If you don't want to root than use "My Backup" (free playstore app)
After using My Backup if you want the paid version you can get that at
the playstore too. Here is the link for the free version of My Backup:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackup
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Hi, My Backup needs root to backup data. I don't want to root my SGS7E just yet.

The only app that can backup data from a non-rooted phone is Helium backup, IF you can get it to work. I haven't been able to get it to work reliably on the GS7 Edge. In fact, I only got it to work once, and have had no success at all, since.

Sorry, I thought you simply wanted to backup all your apps.
I really doubt there are any backup apps which backup data without root,
although I have been known to be wrong a couple times in the past. lol
