I get the same thing. My fingerprints are all messed up even professional fingerprint scanners have difficulty reading mine. My do scanner does the same it takes a few tries. Maybe register a different less used finger (or toe?). You could also register same finger several times (as different fingers) and see if that helps!
It's stupid it times out. No need for that s20 ultra never does that

Ok, so I do not think this is an issue with the screen but the OS.
sometimes a button will not work on the screen. It will just be dead. It seems pretty random too. like say I am typeing, the "D" will stop working and it will instead hit the S or F key even tho i am cleanly hitting the D.
or when I am typing and email and bring up the text cursor. sometimes it just wont like a certain line and it will jump over and under the line i want to be at.
my workaround right now is to go into landscape mode or visa vie. It is super annoying and hobbles my typing.
any fixes or suggestions?
also any way i can make the accelerometer more sensitive to me reorientated it. it seems a bit slow.
does nobody else have this problem?
is there a way to do a screen re-calibration?
well probably more info would be beneficial... are you using a sd card or not? have you tried a format? as for the recalibration and accelerometer, that would be a no.
The Focus tends to have this problem when it's laid down on a bed or some other surfaces. Surprisingly, a registry edit fixes it. Refer to the WP7 hacking forum.
ok, so no SD card, happens upright or laying down. i had not tried a reformat low level but i did do a regular wipe when i bought it. I used fast gsm to unlock it but i dont think that would affect it.
@spyder what sort of registry hacks should I look for?

Ah sorry, it was actually in this forum.
this requires installing chevron right? I thought I read somewhere that cheveron no longer works?
I have been fiddleing with games and it seems in the upper right of my phone there is an unresponsive zone, weather laying down or being held
Well from that I can tell you 2 things. 1. Chevron still works. 2. There is a problem with your phone. Take it back and warranty it.
Today I finally had enough and went back to pattern. The scanner seems to get worse over time. Been using since day one and I typically get it after 2nd try, but now I'm having to wait 30 secs to get in. I've scanned my thumb every direction possible.
that is exactly the problem mate,
stop scanning your finger in every possible direction....
use only one direction and use it in that direction.....
ppl using it the 'normal' way get 100% succes.

If you're trying to unlock while holding the device with one hand it'll never work. The phone is huge and it's almost impossible to swipe correctly with the correct direction with one hand. Either hold the phone and unlock with your index finger of the other hand (this is the best setup for 100% success) or just go back to pattern (what I ended up doing). To be honest the iPhone set up is a million times better.
Multiple threads on this. For some people it works, for others like me its a nightmare. You will find many people trying to convince you that you are doing it wrong, but you're most probably doing it right. I hate the fingerprint scanner for unlocking my device, because it just takes too long. I have my device unprotected and use private mode to hide naked pictures of the wife

Have you set up the fingerprint scanner in the exact same way as shown in the video in my topic here?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/to-fingerprint-scanner-bad-inaccurate-t2919453
My fingerprint scanner is very accurate and i have success about 95% of all times i'm using it.
And guess what?
You can even swipe upwards with your registered fingers after you have registered them downwards. Here is my own video that shows that.

You may be onto something here....didn't know you could go up. I just changed my right thumb to that. Seems to be working. What I have discovered after reading these posts...You have to scan finger SLOW....otherwise...fail fail fail. For the last 4 days I've had a pattern on which i am OK with, but I feel like I am selling myself short.
I've found a pretty good success rate by using my right thumb and swiping as if I have something like gum stuck to it and I'm using the home key to get it off my finger. It sounds weird, but it works better than a simple swipe. Doesn't take longer, just a lot more reliable.
That makes sense. Do you guys think the way apple has done it is patented to them? Samsung had to play around with the iPhone and see how nice touch ID is before they released this. My GFs S5 is equally as bad.
Is it possible to improve the fingerprint scanner ? Its really frustrating the current method which samsung put on galaxys devices.

How do you mean improve? I can take a guess at what you mean. If your talking about how the scanner takes a few tries then you need to re-do the input scan. When you do, start normally swiping down but start rotating your finger. Also add a little roll to get the sides of your print too. The scanner should recognize your print quicker in fewer tries. Samsung's implementation of the FP scanner is just awful in my opinion anyways.
As the poster above stated, use some variation when setting up the scan. I know some people set up more than one finger and preferred that way. I just use my thumb and it always opens for me on the first try, unless my hand is wet from a glass or something.
Anybody with Lollipop know if you can use the fingerprint to unlock the phone when encrypted yet?

Yes you can. Both internal and sd card storage.
I registered the same fingerprint three times, 95% of the times takes just one pass, the other 5%, takes two passes
anybody have this issue? stock s7 edge t-mobile.. it doesnt take fingerprint or pin.. after a few tries of course it says wait 5 mins.. the only work around is to reboot the phone... an i missing something? did i checked something by mistake...

No I think you need to add in more of your prints to the phone , but could also just be your phone. Try going into settings>lock screen and security>fingerprints and adding more in different positions. So don't just keep giving the scanner the same finger in the same position, change it up so that one scan will have the same finger in different ways
Hmm. That doesn't explain the pin part. Lol. It tells me incorrect pin when in fact it is. Might master reset it's wife phone. Personally, I think Nexus 6p fingerprint is so much better.

She could be not wanting you in the phone lol but a hard reset would help I'm sure
That's funny since my wife's phone did the same thing last week. Reboot fixed it. I have also setup her phone to automatically reboot once a week to possibly prevent this from happening again.
sounds like a fingerprint issue. I'd go in delete all the finger prints, then factory reset the device. If you factory reset the device before you delete the fingerprints you might just mess it up further.
Hi there.
The fingerprint open time is sucks with G6. Is there anyway to improve it. ? Make it quicker.
Maybe disabling the animation will increase it.. or something like that.
yeah, disable system animations under developer settings its a better idea, other idea that i already did on mine and in other phone that i hae with fingerprint is: register only 2 fingers, the more used one make 3 times registering that and the other for emergency times (wen you damage the finger number one or something like that) register 2 times, since the device can save up to 5.
i can guarantee you make this little things will improve best your experience with the phone overall.
before registering the fingers make sure your fingers are clean, supa dupa clean i mean, and the fingerprint scanner too.
