Root Oxygen OS 10.5.11INBA & stock boot.img files - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
I just updated my Oneplus 8 Pro to the latest update and would like to root the device again. However, I do not know where I can download a stock image file or how to generate one... Is someone out there that can advise me on how to get my hands this or how to do this?
Thank you!

You dont need to patch boot images anymore. just fastboot boot to TWRP and flash the magisk zip

Thank you for clarifying! :good:

TWRP and February stock boot.img file. New A1 user. Need some help pls

Hi there,
I am a new owner of A1 . I thought I new android but this A1 is proving the contrary so please I ask your help in these 2 subjects:
1) TWRP installer
I installed the recovery img via fastboot as the instructions told.
fastboot boot recovery-xx.img
Boot into Recovery
But when I reboot to recovery, I get no OS system and I have to reboot to system. Is there a step I am missing ?
2) I installed the patched February boot image like this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/root-mi-a1-oreo-8-0-disabling-ota-magisk-t3728654
I want to start the TWRP and root install from a fresh start. Where can I find the stock February Oreo boot.img file please?
I have the 170623.026 V9.5.4.0 build version.
3) Does Supersu exist for the A1 or we must use only Magisk only?
Thank you in advance

I solved all the situations . Thanks

Wanted: 9.0.11 Patched Boot Image

Hi all
I am wondering if anyone knows how I can get my hands on OOS 9.0.11 Patched Boot Image.
I have honestly looked everywhere and the only one I could find was for OOS 9.0.7
I would like to use the boot image to install Magisk for root without a custom bootloader.
Thanks

You can temporarily boot TWRP and flash magisk. It's that simple..

Above method by @indian84 is using twrp boot image
1. fastboot boot twrp_boot_image
2. Download Magisk then sideload or install
or
Without twrp you need to patch stock boot.img yourself
1.Install MagiskManager
2. Dowload stock boot.img
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U8LD1C84CVmv8CVQJgdwmZUsQqSE2m3s/view?usp=drivesdk
3. Patch stock boot.img with MagiskManager and you will get patch_boot.img then transfer it to your pc
5. phone - start fastboot mode
6. pc - fastboot flash boot patch_boot.img
7. pc - fastboot reboot
8. done
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.
If you use this method to convert TMobile to international software, could you them download the full international firmware and reflash and have OTA working then?

So how to root Android 10?

If we don't have TWRP,
How do we root the device?
Magisk has the option to patch a boot.img file. Technically, you could:
1. pull the boot.img file from the A10 OB1 zip
2. copy it to the phone's internal storage
3. install latest magisk manager, click on install - patch boot.img - choose the boot.img
4. copy the patched boot.img to a pc with ADB and USB drivers
5. put the phone in fastboot mode, sideload the boot.img
I have no idea if this would work, but you could give it a go. I believe that someone else already made a guide for exactly this here in the OP6T forum.
Refer to the twrp thread for OB 10.

Either do the OTA local upgrade and magisk uninstall then install to inactive slot method, or use the boot patch which there is another thread on that on the ROM Dev section.
I used the first, worked fine. But there is no supported twrp yet. Only magisk root is officially supported on Q.
Hello, After Root, it's impossible for me to boot on recovery mode
Always i'll want to do or, thé phone reboot on fastmode.

Yes, likely because the update flashed to the inactive, and there is no recovery now. So...if you want recovery, only way is to full wipe and do a MSM or flash all and wipe with older stable.
OP support/forums made announcements on their thread on what will happen with upgrading, or rolling back.
They have a rollback file you can download if you want it all working again including recovery. But you will get wiped as mentioned, and be back on the last stable and firmware. Then you can twrp and root all over again.
That is Beta testing for you!!

Twrp and Magisk Not Installing on OnePlus 8 Pro. Android 13

I want to install twrp and magisk on op 8 pro but I couldn't find any resources. I tried to install twrp in fastboot mode, this time it does not enter recovery mode. I found some information for Magisk installation, but I couldn't find anything for Android 13. Can anyone help me out with this please.
There's no TWRP for the OP8 series on Android 13. There's nothing to help you with.

Download the firmware image, extract the boot.img file with python in cmd. Install magisk on one plus add the boot.img file to magisk it will generate its own and use flash adb on that file that's it

You need to download the full firmware same as you have on your phone. Unpack the zip file, then unpack the payload.bin file with the program (payload-dumper), there will be a lot of files we only need boot.img . You install magisk applications in the application you click install magisk(root) you point to your boot.img file. Magisk generates its img file which you need to flash in fastboot. Remember to unlock OEM in developer options and then in adb and enable usb debugging.
There is working TWRP for A13. It works pretty good and I have used it. Check it out here

I recently rooted my IN2025.F62.
At first, you need to unlock the bootloader. Let us know if you need help for that
To be rooted:
1. What DID NOT work: FLASH the official IMG file of TWRP downloaded from their website
I had to use MSM tool to install stock OOS 11 then slowly upgrade to OOS 13 through OTA.
2. What DID work: BOOT into TWRP thanks to twrp_op8_erofs-3.7.0-b3.img (source).
Then download Magisk.apk from Github, rename it to Magisk.zip and flash it from TWRP.
I didn't try yet but you can normally install TWRP from Magisk as reported here.
