I've searched for 2 months trying to figure this out. Basically my sim card will not be read due to the hardware issue so it is the motherboard, now the problem is i cannot enable WiFi due to not having a sim card inside the phone...when i was on 4.4.4 it says Smart Network Switch and something about not being able to enable due to no sim.....well i tried a custom rom to see if it would remove that feature which it didnt so i went back to 4.4.2 and it doesnt have the smart network switch but it still doesnt allow WiFi to turn on....now the funny thing is before i had the Sim problem i had WiFi on and it stayed working after the sim stuff happened, I factory reset my phone when i was going to install a custom rom before evening knowing WiFi wouldnt work without a Sim so obviously to my surprise when i went to turn on WiFi it wouldnt work, seems like the S4 has a stupid feature imo that if you dont insert a Sim it wont allow WiFi to be turned on. Can anyone tell me if under root or something i can get rid of that feature or some how turn on WiFi in the files or root section of the phone?

I have a similar problem. I have an AT&T S4 I337 that was used with Net10 Network and had the intermittent sim disconnecting problem but it was working well when ik worked. After I changed the Net10 sim to an AT&T non subscribed sim the Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth stopped working. I thoug hit was some firmware problem so I decided to Odin flash the NB1 Rootable Firmware but the problem persist ( can turn wifi and bluetooth on, and GPS turns on but cant get a location). I also tried the complete stock version of NB1 and also did not work. I constantly get a security Notice saying "Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes". I restart but the problem persist. It seems to reboot into a Recovery booting and then restarts. The thin is that the Knox counter is still 0x0.
Did you resolve your problem? If not could some one help us PLEASE!!!!!!:crying:
Any one with that could help me identify the problem?
Hello there,
I undertook to unlock the bootloader of my xperia x compact, of course without saving anything (bye the DRM keys), I then used the fastboot to install Paranoid Android v7.2.3, success after the second attempt.
So the phone started very well, but no SIM card recognized at the start of the phone. Possibly PIN code appeared after 10 min of ignition, loop on the "unlocking in progress" and then nothing, no network.
I have been back several times on the official rom via Sony Companion without success. Last night I tried to flash a rom stock with Flashtool. The operation was going well and oh miracle the sim card was detected directly, so I'm configuring the phone and installing all my applications, a reboot after all that and the SIM card had disappeared again.
Since I tried Flashtool several times without success, downgrade to 6.0.1 either.
After hours and hours of research I still do not have the solution, I have crossed several times on forums for the same kind of symptoms but always accompanied by an absent IMEI, but when I type *#06# my IMEI is displayed correctly .
If someone has already encountered this kind of problem I would love to talk to him. Thanks for reading me
Good night

Yes I have selected my APN, edited as my carrier said. The biggest problem is that the sim card is not detected immediately at startup. And when the sim lock pop up (about 5min after starting the phone) validation of the pin code is much too long to be normal. The code is accepted but I have no network, and when I try to search manually in the settings I have a loop on 'searching'. I think the problem comes from the modem / radio but I do not know too much these points, I just follow tutorials on the internet.
I say start from scratch but use Flashtool

I've already started from scratch with flashtool, several times ...
Some news of my problem.
I have since tried several times to change rom, to flash the modem / radio.
Now my sim card is recognized, but still no network. I have wrote my APN correctly but still nothing.
The network appeared only once after the installation of Paranoid Android, but as in my previous post, after a mobile reboot nothing.
Namely that in the phone information menu, line data service: Disconnected and in this menu enable data connection does not change anything (I can't even enable it). Select radio band gives me 3 choices (Automatic, USA, Japan) and when I click on Automatic I get Set [Automatic] Unsuccessful.
If anyone can help me, I'm really starting to feel hopeless.

Hi, i had the same problem. To enter the pin straight away simply go to the quick settings and check if you have the LTE tile there. If not add it. Then hold down on the LTE tile and it should open mobile data settings and then it takes about 5 seconds and it should ask for pin. I have no idea why it is like so but currently i am on paranoid android 7.3.1 and have no problems. Best wishes!

Yes all boxes.
Here is my phone info
I can't manage to set radio on
Someone ?
Something similar happened to me recently and it was fixed by selecting my provider via wireless networks > mobile networks > service providers
In my case AT&T was selected when I chose Tmo and rebooted everything was fine. Good luck.

Hi,
I have a Samsung S8 Active G892U which I bought used as an unlocked phone. It's clear it was originally a Sprint phone, but I have been using it with no problems on T-Mobile USA. It was running firmware G892USQS3BRI1 until today
Today I was prompted to install the latest software update ( G892USQS3BSA1 - this was clearly a Sprint update; it appears my phone is still getting Sprint updates, which makes sense, as it has Sprint firmware).
There was a warning on the Software update screen that the update would stop Volte working, and I would therefore no longer be able to access data while in a phone call. I (foolishly!!) assumed this would not affect me as I was on T-Mobile. I regularly use data while on the phone, so I know there was no issue with this previously.
The upgrade has completed, and I can no use data while making a call (I am in a LTE area at the moment). There is no sign of any option to enable or disable Volte anywhere in the settings menus
I did try going into Settings->Connections->Mobile Networks and changing Network Mode from "Automatic" to "LTE/CMDA." (as various forums indicated that doing that would provide a menu where I could re-enable volte)
This made the situation worse - I could no longer make calls. I have changed back to 'Automatic' , and can make calls again, but still loose data connectivity when making a call.
Is there any way I can restore my previous ability to use data while calling?
I am wondering:
a) If there is a way to renable Volte without reflashing the phone (that would be preferred)
b) If I do flash the phone, what would be the best firmware to go to - Sprint (presumably the previous version), T-Mobile or something custom (I'm clearly concerned about bricking the phone here)
c) It's several years since I've found myself re-flashing a phone - I see lots of references to "Odin" as the tool to use - is that correct, and could someone point me to the best guide on using it?
Thanks in advance..
You can flash the Sprint latest firmware over the current firmware and I think that should do the trick because I did it and so far so good but proceed with caution I have no experience in dirty flashing but as long as you just stick to the AP file and don't load the bootloader etc I think you should be safe from bricking because as far as I know when the boot loader is gone you can't repair anything
A little while ago, I attempted to update my son's T377T to 7.1.1. After doing the FW update, the WIFI module no longer works but mobile data does. I have tried to reset the connections settings, do a system reset, re-flash the firmware including TMB CSC for this FW but nothing works. We have since stopped using this device for most things but I would like to get WIFI working again, if possible. I can select to turn on WIFI but it shows "Turning On" and stays on this. I can't even try to manually add a network.
Does anyone know anything else that I can maybe try?
Thanks!
I'd suggest run the update again
I installed the latest lineageOS 19 version, rooted my phone then ran into this problem where the phone says i have service, but when i place a call it wont fully make the call. Then my mobile data will X out and i get pop up error saying mobile service is unavailable. I then tried lineageOS 18.1 and arrowOS and same problem persists.
formating between installs obviously.
I have looked at every option on this phone and tried combinations and everything in the network/system/ everything and still not working.
The process was actually very simple since i have some programming experience. Other sources mention possible baseband issues? On the fastboot screen it shows a baseband version. all the information there appears normal. I only flashed the boot image one time to root and didn't mess with any other manual flashing processes. Just used twrp. I didn't quite understand twrp at first and therefore didn't get a backup using it... iused adb to make a backup which apparently didn't work so Im lost and hope someone could help me out here. please and thank you!
If i may add I can use mobile data just fine, i can browse the internet and such (with wifi off and data on only) so i really dont understand. Is this a normal issue to have when using custom roms? did I trip some security that blocked me now? any input???
I wonder, though, this moto g7 is an A/B partition thing. so if i understand correctly, flashing twrp would not work and thus why i did not do that. it makes sense. But should i try flashing it, booting into it then installing lineage? even if i did i feel like that would give me same issue considering the method i followed got me into lineageos, plus root checker said i was rooted.
What I can tell you is what I had to do in order to get LTE (voice calls) running on my G7 - I was forced to switch over to LTE because AT&T turned off 3G here in the US and 4G without LTE is not good enough for voice calls:
Get the latest stock firmware and install it using e.g. Lenovo's "Rescue And Smart Assistant". That will get Motorola's Android 10 on the phone.
After installation, go through setup and actually make a call (calling your mailbox is fine). Then check your ims status (*#*#4636#*#*, goto phone info, pull ims status) to see that ims is actually working.
Shutdown the phone and start installing LOS (use the partition copy script too to make sure that the partitions not touched by LOS installation are updated "on the other flash bank").
Go through LOS setup, select a valid APN for your setup, set "LTE only" or "LTE / WCDMA" for the network and make a call. You should be good to go.
Again this is what I had to do to get LTE working with AT&T USA. YMMW.
Markus.
I know this is way late, and you probably already figured it out. I didn't share the no text problem. The Problem isn't just the "LTE" setting itself. There is one more option(some Roms show it, some don't) I believe its in the phone app settings? VOLTE must be checked. I have noticed Some Roms do have this option and some don't. when volte is checked, it'll keep your data/internet on during a call, some Roms that option won't show up or isn't available. I haven't used G7 in a while, but I do remember the problem and how to fix (on my phone anyway).
