WiFi will not turn on due to no Sim Card - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I've searched for 2 months trying to figure this out. Basically my sim card will not be read due to the hardware issue so it is the motherboard, now the problem is i cannot enable WiFi due to not having a sim card inside the phone...when i was on 4.4.4 it says Smart Network Switch and something about not being able to enable due to no sim.....well i tried a custom rom to see if it would remove that feature which it didnt so i went back to 4.4.2 and it doesnt have the smart network switch but it still doesnt allow WiFi to turn on....now the funny thing is before i had the Sim problem i had WiFi on and it stayed working after the sim stuff happened, I factory reset my phone when i was going to install a custom rom before evening knowing WiFi wouldnt work without a Sim so obviously to my surprise when i went to turn on WiFi it wouldnt work, seems like the S4 has a stupid feature imo that if you dont insert a Sim it wont allow WiFi to be turned on. Can anyone tell me if under root or something i can get rid of that feature or some how turn on WiFi in the files or root section of the phone?

I have a similar problem. I have an AT&T S4 I337 that was used with Net10 Network and had the intermittent sim disconnecting problem but it was working well when ik worked. After I changed the Net10 sim to an AT&T non subscribed sim the Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth stopped working. I thoug hit was some firmware problem so I decided to Odin flash the NB1 Rootable Firmware but the problem persist ( can turn wifi and bluetooth on, and GPS turns on but cant get a location). I also tried the complete stock version of NB1 and also did not work. I constantly get a security Notice saying "Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes". I restart but the problem persist. It seems to reboot into a Recovery booting and then restarts. The thin is that the Knox counter is still 0x0.
Did you resolve your problem? If not could some one help us PLEASE!!!!!!:crying:

Any one with that could help me identify the problem?

[Q] SIM card broke my two phones (can only make calls while just 2g is enabled)

Hi, I recently started having trouble with my gf's phone (Nexus 4 running lollipop 5.0, lte enabled, tmo). It started shortly after I enabled a SIM lock pin on the sim, but not sure if that's the cause or not... The phone started to intermittently drop signal, and would not make calls (it would just appear to be dialing, but you'd hear no ringing and never connect). When I'd restart the phone, I could usually make a call. I tried to fix it by restoring everything the stock image, rechecking the apn, making sure stock radio was installed, etc, but the problem persisted and eventually got to the point that voice calls did not work at all. LTE and data worked to get onto the internet, but once a call was attempted to be made, it'd lose all signal. I discovered eventually that if I switched off lte/4g/3g, and only kept gsm 2g on, I could make a voice call. Next I tried her SIM card in my phone (Note 2 on Android 4.4, t-mobile) and as soon as I put her sim in, my phone started doing the same thing. After switching back to my SIM (that was working just fine, before), now MY phone is stuck with the same problem! (Can only make calls with just 2g enabled). I'm at a total loss. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or do you have possible solutions/ideas on how to fix this?

I flashed back to stock image a couple of times via wugfresh toolkit, but got the same results each time. I did, however, just fix my note 2 by removing my sim (the one that was previously working), flashing stock via odin (didn't help in recovery), and then replacing the original sim. This leads me to believe that the sim in the n4 is somehow corrupted and once loaded, permanently changes some settings somewhere. (I hope that's the problem, and not the phone). I'll pick up another sim card from tmo tomorrow and try flashing stock again before loading it. Any idea what would cause this? The only thing I did different was set up sim lock on the card, and it seemed to work just fine for a while, till it didn't... Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if the new sim works.
Solved
For anyone who may be having the same problem, here is how I solved it. I picked up a new sim card from t-mobile, flashed a stock rom via toolkit (with the sim card not installed), loaded rom, installed sim, loaded correct apn. Everything works as it should now.

ATT note 3 help

So i recently flashed my device. I have an att note 3 i am having troubles using the wifi because everytime i turn it off or reset it the phone wont remember the wifi password or the wifi will get stuck on. I used to have 4.4.4 kitkat on it but when i flashed it i couldnt find the kitkat 4.4.4 and could only find a kitkat 4.4.2 that would work with my phone and actually flash my device i used for a tablet with an old sim card not connected to the network. I recently tried to put my girlfriends sim card in and update it off the att network but it wouldnt connect to the network even with her sim card in the device. I am having alot of trouble and its starting to cause fights between me and her and so i really need some help on how to fix this and update it. possibly a full factory reset. Also i removed a few of the att app that come on the phone the phone is rooted and superu is perm installed even when i factory reset through the boot settings it still is there. if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

i9505 no network service at all (only emergency calls) - any ideas?

Hey there!
I try to keep it short. I have no network service (the sim is working in other phones). There is sometimes a "stop" like symbol in the top bar or an exclamation mark saying "no chosen network available". However, emergency calls should be possible (phone got network access).
I bought the phone, so it's used and that "problem" was known. I thought I could fix it. I tried the following:
Rooting and RegionLockAway.
Flashing new Firmware (I9505XXUHOA7)
Flashing the ME2 modem and trying to SIM-Unlock it. However I get an popup "error" after pressing NV-Rebuild (it stated Golden Backup exists) and then the phone immediately reboots.
SIM detection seems to work (asks for PIN and notifies on empty sim)
The IMEI is there.
If I try to choose networks it gets a list with EPlus, T-Mobile and Vodafone (I am currently in Germany). Unfortunately I do not know where the phone's from.
Also, I never experienced any popups asking for unlock codes or similar - it is just not able to register on the network.
How can I make sure theres no SIM Lock?
How can I make sure theres no Netlock?
After those two are clear what else could be done? What about NVData?
Anyone any ideas? Thanks!
I can post some infos from the service/UMTS menu, however I am not sure which. I also searched and tried hours but without success.
Replace the SIM card tray. From appearances yours is dying.
Thanks for the reply. Can I test this somehow? I am just wondering since it asks for SIM-PIN and even reads APN data etc. I just searched and it is about 10 bucks on ebay and I should be able to do it at home that would be cool. So since it is detecting my SIM can I test somehow whether there could be other problems causing this problem bevore I try to replace that sim-slot?
Thank you!
By the way: Yesterday I also tried to repair NVData with the SamsungUnlock software as posted somewhere here. While that worked without a problem it did not change anything.
To sim unlock the phone, you could try flashing the 4.2.2 modem, rooting, and using regionlockaway.

I wish there was a way to test it. I only knew mine was bad by sheer luck. Mine revealed itself only after flashing an Android 4.2.2 stock ROM; more current versions didn't show anything.
Could there be a loose connection inside the phone?
Where it is a known issue, there is a possibility that the original owner replaced the SIM tray. When they did, they likely forgot to reuse the foam pad from the top of the connector on the old tray. If that pad is missing the connector will pop up in time.
hey thanks for your help!
I will open the phone and check the connector of the SIM-Tray. But as I already described, it even asks me for the SIM-Pin, but maybe even though something might not be right.
Regarding flashing an 4.4.2 Modem: Is that the "9505_DXUAME2_MODEM.rar"? If, I tried that already (installed that modem, rooted, RegionLockAway and even with the Serive Menu SHA256 OFF method (this one did not work since I got an Error and the phone did not freeze etc.). However, I did not install a full 4.4.2. Stock Rom yet.
Well maybe I could buy a SIM Tray and just connect the PIN without acutally gluing it on the phone. This way I might be able to get a refund if this does not do the trick.
If all these fail I just have to find some new use for that phone
You cannot use an Android 4.4.2 modem or ROM to unlock. The modem or ROM MUST be from Android 4.2.2 or RegionLock Away will not work.
Regarding the SIM tray, foam mounting tape from the local store on top of the connector will work. No need of glue.

[Question] Samsung S8+ G955F sim 1 not allowed.

Hello, recently I bought and repaired an S8+ which is still in Nougat. Silly me not testing all basic function after the repair.
I hurriedly update the phone to Pie. Last night, i put in the simcard in slot 1 and it function well in 4g connection.
Here is the problem, whenever the phone disconnected from 4g and connecting to 3g/2g connection, there is notification "Sim 1 not allowed". After discovering that problem, i proceed testing sim 2 and its normal (can even toggle between 4g and 3g/2g).
I tried resetting the phone, but the problem persists.
Atm, i thinking of flashing stock rom, maybe something was corrupted during OTA update.
How can i fix this? Or anyone have an explanation to this problem.
Thanks!
