I have not rooted prior to 6.2.1 but really want the android market so now I must root. I have a few questions;
I keep seeing something about having to download root explorer from the amazon market to use the new method, would es file explorer work?
Sorry if I'm way off base on any or all of this, I've never rooted anything
I'm tech savvy so i could do it if i had a definitive list of all the progams needed and preferably a video tut of the process. Im seeing a few different ways so im confused as to which way i need to do it. Could someone please point me in the right direction ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
You seem to have the ability to read and write the English language why don't you go over to the thread where this is being discussed and read the information that is offered and make a decision.
There are tons of threads on this very topic as this is a very hot topic...And in each thread it will tell u what u need to root and etc....Just look up how to root 6.2.1
i hope this helps......

No, probably not a standard way. I have done two, one using this method with the changes for 6.2.2 (burrito2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417234
The information in the video description gives information on what you have to do differently for 6.2.2
I also rooted using the KFU, but that script also has to be modified to support 6.2.2 and you need to have the burrito2.bin file.
I believe the new way to root is using burrito3 but I can not speak from experience on b3, never used it.
allthrough it is mainly about driver you can do all the things you want with kfu
look at this post to avoid potential problems:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22016829&postcount=6
and please read the op of kfu - espacially the known tricks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
and this post of the dev of kfu:

okey. Now i'm watching the burritoroot3 on youtube. so can i rott the device without install the android sdk???
EDIT:: before i follow this video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ88CYWv0FU) have i install adb??
you dont need the sdk at all
and kfu 0.9.3 is out - it should do the job more easy

Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium

Hello, can someone tell me what I need to build Lineage OS for the Kindle Fire 8 HD 8th Generation? The Kindle Fire 8 HD 8th Generation is a unsupported device. What do I need to do to get it supported? I'm looking at building just a unofficial version for myself.
Thanks

It is very difficult since there is no ROM for MT8163.
First you should start by extracting the device tree and the vendor blobs ..
Ok that's what I needed it is a starting point I will get on that!
Thanks
After I get the blobs then?
Thanks

I'm going to be sincere with you. I was just like you, I wanted to compile a ROM for MT8163 but after reading what had to be done, I decided not to try it, its very difficult..
If you really want help, @diplomatic will help you more than me.
I would really appreciate an LOS version for the 8th gen Kindle 8 HD. Would donate.
ROM?

What ROM will work with Fire 8 8th gen? I haven't been able to find any after rooting it...
Anyone who wants custom roms for the HD8 should donate to ggow! He's proven to have skill (created several other roms) and has expressed a willingness to work on the HD8. We just need to get a device into his hands.

What are you talking about?
The fact that k4y0z is working on the HD10? There is still the HD8. And k4y0z even chimes in to say that both devices could benefit from ggow working on it. The only mess in the thread is the off topic posts which you often see here.
Hi all
Is it possible to enable Mock location on an 8th Gen Fire HD? I need it so I can use GPStether as I want to sue the Fire HD for Sat Nav.
Any help or guidance appreciated.

The option to choose which Mock location app to use IS there, however there is no option to enable it. From what I've read, you have to root the device but I don't think that is possible at the moment?

The Fire HD 8 8th gen. is rootable, even better: the bootloader can be unlocked.
As this thread tells it requires you to work with Linux and Python. You find instructions there.

What do you have to do with root? There is a way to get a temporary root shell so you can run some commands, but you can't modify system or boot partition this way. Experimental Software Root for HD 8 & HD 10.
So, i was going to buy the HD10 and was seeing a lot of threads about the "previous" versions that allow the tools to be used to stop all the bloatware from coming up on the Fire. Would those same tools work on the latest version of the fire HD10:
https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-10/d...0vkG&pd_rd_wg=fEe8G&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
Thanks in advance. Apologies if this is a very noob question to ask.
