This has been discussed, it's not charging any faster than it did in Nougat. All they did was add the text to tell you it was fast charging, which to them means charging above 1A. True fast charging would be 50% in less than 30 minutes, definitely this update is not going to do that, no matter what charger you use.
But after oreo update there is a little improvement in charging speed... I charged my A1 in switched off and phones charged in 1hr 35 min from 0 to 100%...and i used the stock charger...

Doing some very basic math.
3000mAh battery.
Charging rate of 2000mAh
That would equate, if the battery were truly at 0%, and charged truly to 100% full 3000mAh capacity, of 90 minutes, in an ideal world. Of course, there are some things that come into play, such as overhead.
With my USB measuring tool, I am able to see the voltage around 5.10-5.20v, and the amperage around 1.85-1.94A. This is with a Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 charger, so I know for certain that it is not doing a higher voltage charge. I can also see that it is not doing a higher amperage charge.
Given this, I will have to see about doing a complete drain on the phone, and then charging, and seeing where 100% is indicated on the phone, in terms of capacity, as my tool can measure the amount sent over USB as well.
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Nokia 7 Plus can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

takes about half an hour or so as far as I can remember 8/10
Charges really fast, thanks to 18W charger. Although on cable connected to computer, very slow

From mathematical standpoint 30 mins for 0-100% is impossible with 18W charger, let me make it a bit clear
It has a 3.800mAh battery or 3.8Ah for short, which means if it had a 5v 3.8A charger it would take 1 hour if the charger and delivery system(cable+chips inside phone etc) were delivering 100% efficiency. Now 5v 3.8A is 19W charger. For half an hour we need 5v 7.6A or 38Watt.
According to Quick charge which is present in this phone it can be charged at 9v 2A or 18W, so even if the phone has 100% efficiency it would take a bit more than 1 hour to complete 0-100% but because each system can't deliver 100% efficiency calculate to 1hr and 1-20 mins give or take
P.S. half an hour, wish but ain't possible unless we have 9v 4.2A charging with 100% efficiency(or 5v 7.6A if you prefer) - Still going to get this phone soon(if price drops to my desire)
Just charged 25% to 100% took around 1 hour
I have here the test i made 100% to 11% took 6h34m SOT, charging from 11% to 49% took 25 minutes from 11% to 82% took 59 minutes, from 11% to 98% took 1h36m.

Just tested with LG V20's Fast Charger of 18W.
Fast charging works. confirmed.
But not with OnePlus 3T's Charger.
Will check the same with 5T's Charger and Update.

Yes OnePlus 3T, 5T does not work.
Also I was charging N7+ from 18% via LG V20's Charger and it got overheated and started malfunctioning. But thankfully there was a circuit breaker and protection circuit in LG's Charger which saved it. Device is working fine too. Now I am using the nokia charger provided in the box as none are working.

So that means if something happens to the current charger provided with the phone, we will have to buy a Nokia branded charger and cable or there would be issues. Hmm

I just got this device Thursday not a Dual SIM device
It charges fully in about 1hr and 30mins of charging adds quite a bit of power to the battery
if we use a PC it takes ages
is it safe to use fast charge daily?
Can we charge the device by a standard charger having 5v 1 amp rating with the USB type c cable plugged into it?

Yes, i use mine from a tablet at 5v and 1.5A. You can use any charger if it is 5v or if it is turbopower o fastcharge.
I also use my old LG's charger. 5v @1.8A. Im not really that into charging speed. One thing i noticed is that on both chargers when reaching 100% it says charged but still charges for another 15minutes before the charging icon (flash) disappears from the screen. Has anyone else noticed this?

Every day, from 30% up to 85%
Why wouldn't you use dash charging.Think only a very small minority would not for whatever reason
I dash charge about half the time, from 20-80% power. The only reason I don't dash charge 100% of the time is I don't want to buy more of the the expensive cables, so I sometimes use slower chargers I have around the house..
Read that higher movement of electrons in battery due to high charge speed might reduce its longevity. My old S7 lost its battery capacity badly due to fast charging but i think its mostly due to heat.
I only slow charge. Did the same on my 5T. I generally charge my phone somewhere between 0.35-0.5 amps.
To prolong the battery, I've installed BLEX, charging to a max of 90%, and only slow charge at 0.5A at night. I occasionally use the Dash charger that came with the phone if I need a quick boost as needed.
I use only Dash charger from OnePlus 3. Now on op6T i charge every 3 days, with Dash charge.

Since you have a long history with OnePlus phones, what can you say about the battery quality and its longevity.I'm curious how much can i expect my 6T to last.
I've been dash charging since the release of the phone and haven't came across any problems thus yet. But I do understand that rapidly charging the battery isn't good for the battery itself, but you shouldn't see any significance wear on the longevity of the battery within 2 years. And in most cases, we all upgrade to a different device in that time frame.:good:
I use my phone all day so when I get home I dash charge it for about 30 minutes (until it reaches about 85% - 90%) then I run YouTube at night and the next morning I put it on dash charge until it hits 100% while I get ready.
Slow. I've used fast charge maybe a couple times when I was in a hurry. Otherwise, I prefer slow charge.

why not charge it till 100% ?
Use dash charge at home sometimes.
Overnight, regular, no dash.
In the car, typically no dash.
At the office, no dash.

Always charging to 100% causes higher stress on the battery and shortens its life and capacity. The theory to maximize battery life actually recommends charging/discharging between 80% and 25% only. I'm already compromising by charging to 90% since I need the capacity for longer run time.
I mostly just charge my phone every other day up to ~70% at a time I'm at my computer, at which point it gets slow charged. Have dash charged it once when I was in a rush and was only home for 20 minutes or so, but the battery was getting low.
Maybe I'm missing something, is there a way to change how we charge? I thought it only dash charges.
U can by using 3rd party charger which isn't more than 2A
everyday! and i don't bother charging to specific percentages.... i just take it off the charger when i want to use it

in my stock charger it charges 44% in 30mins and 1hr 30mins to full charge. Difference is only about 20% while it should be 50% more faster as 27W is 50% more power of 18W.

I have two power delivery charger both capable to charge up to 60w. When I connect phone to both charges doesn't matter which one and which cable I use currently it always display fast charging text and icon. Why it doesn't go on turbo charging? If I know the phone support qc 4.0 and PD and it should turbo charge on my chargers, right? Anyway I noticed 3300-3600 mAh however it doesn't really look charge as fast as in reviews.
Some people reported 4A but according to qc 4.0 specification it's rather about 3A at 9A. What's the real charging voltage for our Xeromi?

It seems Xiaomi uses a proprietary protocol for it's 27W Turbo charge. For now I've not seen any other charger capable of charging it on 27W other than the Xiaomi one.

I tried a Belkin 27W QC 4.0 charger(attached), Macbook Air 30W original Charger and one more 45W Type-C charger.
But non of them shows Turbo Charging. Not even the Quick Charging message comes up when using the original 18W charger.
Saw this charger on AliExpress with a seller who had feedback saying it gives Turbo charging.

It's not a bug i guess... Its a OS thing .. some custom rom uses the force fast charge option... Then the phone will charge fast even we use the phone or play games.. but in stock roms they disabled the force fast charge thing... So when in idle, phone charges around 3000mah but when using the phone it comes down to around 1000mah or even lower while playing games

Yes, I have with genuine A71 charger ( already in use with my A71 ). Huge difference then this supplied 15w one.
I never let my phone to go to 0% as it effects battery life. Usually get it charge from 15 to 100% and it takes exactly an hour .
15w (supplied in the box) does the same in 1 hour and 50 mins approx...
Highly recommended to have a 25w original one... ( There are lots of copy versions in the market which are of no use as they charge on same slow speeds).
To verify, its simple that it will show "super fast charge" and the copy version will show only "Fast charge" which is not fast by any standards....
Mine from 1% to 100% takes about 115 minutes
about 1hr to go 40-100 on a 60w laptop usb c brick
With 25w charger it charges 18-20% in 10 minutes.
It's decent but I do miss the dash charge from my one plus.
Seems mine charges rather quickly no issues.
