I tried the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 quick charger on my ZE550KL 2GB ram model. The starting battery percent was 18% and after about half an hour the battery was still at 42%. I read on Qualcomm's website that SD410 supports quick charging 2.0. But the results speak otherwise. Could it be the software restricting quick charge?

The processor supports quick charge, but as far as I know, it's not implemented in the phone.
Yes I tried it too recently and the best rate at which phone charging was 1.1A (I used 2.1A charger, it took 3 hrs to charge from 10% to 100%)
Either we should all ask ASUS to enable fast charging in coming updates or wait for someone to build custom kernel that supports fast charging.
if it's any consolation, the moto g3 also doesn't supports quick charging. It also has SD 410. 3 hours is the time is takes for me to charge it to full with the provided OEM charger as well.

I had Moto G 2015 for couple of weeks. Didn't really use wall charger enough, I used USB charging through PC most of the times so can't really say about charging time.
I found some references online they claimed Moto g3 does charge faster, here is one...

As far as the laser is concerned, has anyone raised this issue with them on forums?
can't bear slow charging :crying:
It more than likely has to do with the USB configuration so I doubt any software update will enable that, but to be fair it could be a software based limitation. The USB component needs to allow for the high throughput though.
I personally don't feel too negative about the charge time because I came from an iPhone 5S that doesn't have quickcharging. I am sure for others it is like watching paint dry though.
What I find most disturbing about the phone is that, it came with a 1A charger. You can save some significant charging time if yo use a standard 2A charger.

Have you tested this? Devices will only pull what they are able from a charger so if it was designed to drawl up to 1.35A then even with a 2A charger it will only drawl 1.35A.

I think you are right on this. I just tested and even with a 2A charger it takes more than 3 hours to charge the phone.
Anyone tried using qualcomm 2.0 certified quick chargers?
From this zentalk link, looks like my suspicion was correct. Event though SD 410 supports quickcharge, Asus limited the circuits etc. to not take 2A. Sad!
At least it charges faster on super saving mode.
35% in 60 mins on Normal mode
41% in 60 mins on super saving mode

My ZE601KL comes with a 2A charger in the box. I would say it charges quick when battery is real low and slows down when it close to 80% to complete the rest of the charging cycle.

It would be nice an option to disable it, like in the SGS7. Especially for the people like me that charge the phone at night and doesn't need quick charge.

Okay, that makes sense! We better get an option to turn it off then.
I noticed the Axon charging current drops off somewhere above 90-95% capacity. Using the app Ampere and with the Axon's included QC3.0 charger, the phone will charge at a current of ~3A when the battery is below ~80-90%, and then when the charge capacity is above that, the charge current drops to around 0.3A for a slower charge up to full capacity. The charge current may even drop lower but I haven't observed Ampere like a hawk when charging.
I'm curious what's causing that smart charge current drop: the phone or the in box QC3.0 charger. If it's the phone, then using an older charger with a max output of 2-2.5A may be ideal for battery longevity. If the Axon battery is truly 3250mAh, then with a preferred C-rate of say 0.7C (I've seen recommended C-rates from 0.5C to 0.8C), we get 2275mA as the ideal constant charge current. If the phone also drops the charge current of this older charger when capacity is nearing full then it would certainly be better than using the QC3.0 charger.
However, if all of this fluctuating charge current is controlled by the QC3.0 charger itself, then it might be the better charger option versus one with a lower rated current output. The OP on this thread should test both out with Ampere and share the results.

Quick charge rates are designed around the capability of the battery. I have extensive experience with system design around rechargeable cells of all major chemistries, and the large batteries currently used in phones can be charged at much higher rates simply because there is more surface area (more mAh) that in older phones. Quick Charge will never charge at a rate unsafe for your battery. Your battery is more likely to fail from simply age or damage due to a drop as opposed to quick charging.
The bigger the battery, the higher the acceptable charging current. At over 3000 mAh, the Axon 7 battery can safely be charged at a very high current.

Absolutely correct, like my previous post, but not an answer to the question asked. I agree that since the capacity is high at 3250mAh, a constant C-rate of 1.0C (up to 3250mA charge current) is safe. However the question is not about safety, but longevity of performance.
Lowering the charging C-rate to 0.5-0.8C could potentially mean the difference of good battery capacity performance for 1 year versus 1.5-2 years.
With Ampere I've observed the charge current on the Axon with QC3.0 charger as high as 3200mAh. At 1C, that's perfectly safe, but less than ideal for battery longevity. We're simply looking for an alternative at a lower C-rate of 0.5-0.8C.

Explained In short and ELI5.
If you charge ~300( charge cycles) times with the QC3 you will lose ~10% battery capacity.
10% off 3250mah is 325mah.
So roughly (depending on usage) after a year you will lose 325mah from your battery.
If you charge slow it is prolonged.

Honestly I feel like this is not quick charge 3.0 even though the 835 processor and the device supports it. The charger that comes in the box is only 1.8amps output. Compare that to 2.0amps output with my Galaxy S7 charger and even 3.0amps output on my Nexus 6P charger. So it's not really more than the standard 1.5amp output of most cell phone chargers today and less output than other chargers that come with quick charge compatible phones.
Over all it takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes to charge it from 20% to 100% with the charger it comes with. Keep in mind that's if you're not using it while it charges. If you are using the phone while it charges on about 70% brightness, then about double that time to charger from 20% to 80%. I might try with the Nexus 6P 3.0amp charger later to see if it makes any difference.
So right now I give this only a 6 out of 10 for charging. So 3 stars.

I only tried it with a Samsung Galaxy S7 charger, which is
2.0 amp output instead of the stock V30 charger at 1.8amp output. So slightly more output.
It looks like no matter what charger you use above 1.8amp output, then the V30 is still going to only use 1.8amp charging rate. I think the phone is programed to limit it. Which is sad because I do not think it charges quite as fast as my S7 Edge.
When I plug the stock V30 charger with the phone at 5% it gives me a ETA of 1 hour 46 minutes. That seems awfully long time for quick charge 3.0 on a battery that is only 3300mah. It should be about 20-25 minutes LESS than that I think. According to LG it should be faster from their graphic at the release show of the V30. See attachment.
Although its possible a future software update could fix this though. So lets hope. I also might reach out to LG and ask them about this.

Don't have a V30 right no, i've just compared the speed with the one seen on my G6, a 5-10% i have 1:50 for full charge without QC, for V30 you'll have to wait someone else...
quick charge feature is available only with original charger or by using power bank too ?
The Galaxy S7 adapter charges only at 9V/1.67A, for 15W of power.
The LG should come with a 9V/1.8A, for about 16W of power. Also, it may only quick charge with the screen off. It will drop to 5-10W with the screen on.
ummm...you should always check the voltage, not only the amps... (voltage multiplied by current equals power).
the best way to check is by using one of those USB thingies which measure V and A.
I'm pretty sure that v30 comes with qc 3.0 charger, so it definitely is a fast charger for that 3300mAh battery.
If I am not mistaken, the supplied charger is Quick Charge 3.0 compliant. But LG limited the charging to just 9V/1.8A, for total power of 16W.
The estimate on my v30+ at 7% battery is 1 hour and 43 min. In 15 min it charged 11% only.
Definitely slower than the galaxy note 4 I had previously.
The charger mine came with is 3amp and takes 45 min to fully charge

Ok I'm not saying you're bullshittin', but 3A gives 3Ah per 1h, or 3000mAh in one hour and since the V30 has 3300mAh battery, it must take over an hour to fully charge (even if it charges max speed constantly 0-100%), so yeah you're bullshittin'.

Yes! Very good point! What I have found is that it does charge pretty fast with the stock charger when you are NOT using the phone at all. Charges around 45% in 30 minutes from my testing. So pretty good!
However when I'm using my phone it takes about double the length of time. About an hour to get the same 45%. So I did a test to see what the heck was going on.
First I bought an Anker quick charge 3.0 18W adapter. So it is rated 2 watts higher than the stock LG charger. The Anker charger has output ratings of
3.6V-6.5V / 3A, 6.5V-9V / 2A, 9V-12V / 1.5A
I also bought a nice braided JSAUX cable rated up to 3Amps to make sure I am also using a cable that does not restrict the charge flow.
My results are about the same with that charger and cable despite it being rated 2 watts higher than stock LG charger. About 45% in 30 minutes when not using the phone and about 45% in 60 minutes when actively using the phone.
I also used an app to measure the charging current when not using the phone and when using the phone, and you are right. LG is for some reason limiting the Amps to only about 1.2A and 5V when using the phone, but then about 2.4A and 5V when not using the phone. I never saw the voltage go higher than about 5.1V. Assuming the app was accurately measuring the charge.
So I guess LG limits the charge when the phone is in use to keep the battery and phone from over heating while processor and display is working more? If so, it's obvious to me that they limit the charge while the phone is in use a good bit more than my 6P or S7 edge did. Hopefully with the upcoming Oreo update the charging rate is increased a little while the phone is in use.
When I had the phone, I measured with a USB meter. I was using a charger that's similar to your Anker, up to 18W.
With the phone or screen off, it charges at 9V/1.8A.
With the screen on, it charges at 5V/2A for 10W. But depending on what you're using the phone, eg. Watching videos or playing games, and your screen brightness, the effective charge is likely lower than 10W.
Since then, I've always developed the habit of not using my phone while charging.

2 Hour With Stock Charger
I didn't completely check the ratings and time but stock charger DOES NOT fast charge this phone. as the Stock Charger isnt QC2.0 Supported. However this mobile does support QC2.0 but you'll have to test QC2.0 Charger 1st. Not all QC2.0 Chargers work on this mobile. Its a little picky. So go to a shop check QC2.0 Chargers on your mobile. when you get circle Sign on notification bar along side battery then it means that device is fast charging. if not then there will be no circle around the charging sign (Flash sign)
also idt this mobile supports QC3.0 but i dont have tools to check amps volts of charger.
Lenovo's original QC3.0 charger doesnt work on this phone. I've tested. but Motorola's QC3.0 Charger works fine.
my rn5 pro , takes apporx 3 hours to charge completely!
So far I'm a bit slow, a little bit more than 3 hours to completely charge the phone. Might have something to do with the cable.
My current charging setup:
- ANKER 5 port 40W
- a docomo USB cable
Planning to buy a proper 20AWG usb cable and a QC2.0 adapter.
I just bought a Letv charger which supported qc3.0 for about 4$ on taobao

13,2W for me
I recieved 9.2.13 update yesterday and have been noticing significant boost to charging speeds since then...yet to fully charge from 0 so can't comment on total time but as per Ampere, charging speeds are in range of 1500 to 1700 mah
1000 mA max with 5v 2amp and Work Normal Speed with Stock Charger
Approximately 2 hour for charge phone
I use the app Ampere (free in Playstore) to measure power input and with a normal charger (non QC) it shows up to 1600 mAh charging amount and from almost 0 to 100% it is taking 2,5 hours. One question: is there a way to tell if QuickCharge is active?
@Kusie
Look on your"s phone status bar. With normal charging there is thunder icon next to the battery. With QC active, thunder in in circle as far as I remember. Info about active QC should be also displayed in the bottom of your lockscreen

I have no idea why would you do that... But read reviews, no matter what kind of charger you use, this phone only supports qc 2.0 version. From 0 to 100, in 1 hour, you only get like 55%, and in the end it slows down even more, so yes, impossible to fully charge in 1.5h, TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. You are either lying, or mixed times and got confused. Judging by technical parameters, the best this phone can do should be around 2hours from 0 to 100.

How are you measuring this? Ive found my One plus phones will not charge rapidly with my current measuring device plugged between them and the phone.
Next every single device I have, the battery lasts longer when I slow charge them. (More time on each charge) I charge my devices generally between 0.3-0.5 amps.

The charger uses 5V 4Amps. You should charge around 3000mAh below 75% after they it slows down.
