Hi!
Maybe hw-error, maybe not, in any cases i ordered the replacement piece today. (my phone is the ZB602KL, X00TD, 6GB RAM version, without NFC, WW-type, BL open unofficial way, rooted)
My device lost the front camera. The hw-analisys software doesn't shows it. (aida64, device info HW).
If I try to change the active camera module in the camera app from back module to front module, the device just alternates images between the two rear cameras.
By the way i tried to return back to stock-rom, changing kernels back and forth, changing roms on the device, clear app data, another cam-apps (rog phone camera, gcam, camera fv-5), but nothing. With opened or closed BL, and stock or custom roms, or with or without root-access (and permutations) still nothing.
Any opinion? It is hw-error, or kernel-error, or something mystical-error?
Thanks in advance!

Just yesterday I have not been able to access my rear camera, thought it was the rom i was using, flashed a new rom and the problem is still there.
When i open any kind of app that uses the rear camera such as snapchat - it can't connect to the camera
Instagram Force closes
Samsung camera app is just black
I have also used the secret codes to get into the testing hardware area and it reports
data line failed
then repeatedly says Warning camera failed
caches wiped factory reset everything and still no joy
I have taken apart the phone and have checked the ribbon cables and all were in and secure (100% sure)
so this leaves me with the only thing left. faulty module
I can only seem to find a replacement for a i9500,
so would this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuin-Sa...ent-Part-/300932899978?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
work in my i9505?
thanks in advance
Most pieces work and I think both cameras too
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Ok camera failed I have tried.
EVERYTHING lol
#force stop wipe cache date etc
if i enter the code *#34971539# on 5.01 stock rom
I get "unfortunatly, Camera test has stopped working error?
Im totaly at my wits end here and running out ideas, heard its a hardware problem? anyone ever found a fix?
thanks
Is it the front or rear camera?
If it is rear, I would but a replacement from eBay. Changing the rear camera is very easy.
Both they both fail?
Both cameras fail on a Custom ROM too? Tried reloading a stock ROM with Odin? If these things don't work, I would try replacing the cameras.
Were will i get stock 4.4.2 uk? havent tried roms
Look at samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com for stock firmware.
Ok here is what I have done!
Went back to stock still the same.
Purchased new rear and front camera
Took old back out put new one in back camera worked,
Switched to front and camera failed.
So switched front camera tot he new one purchased and still camera failed.
Seems who ever had this phone before me(purchased from ebay) with broken camera, had already been in and tried changing the back camera because obviously was the wrong model.
I am now left wondering if the front cmaera I purchased and the one that was in were the wrong type?
GT-I9550
back camera that came out has the follwing: GT-I9500 R12. On the other side SLD2 25b G
front camera following: I9500-92 1314 G
As you can see they from the i9500 I cant be bothered to tare the phone back down to check the reference for the new front camera, but does anyone know which I should be getting for my uk GT-I9505.
Thanks.
Is there front camera for the 9505 too? If it is and it doesn't work, it's possible the front replacement is defective. If you know the front camera works, it's possible that something is wrong with the motherboard.
I successfully revived my phone after a brick - had to take it apart at that. I disconnected the camera module when doing so. After finishing and reassembling it, I noticed that the photos from the back camera were no more than 3 or 4 megapixels. i thought it was badly connected or something (which seemed odd since it still shot somewhat nice pictures, i would expect artifacts) and went ahead and took the device apart, then unplugged and replugged both cameras. After booting, I opened the default camera app. The rear camera snapped into place with OIS but the app didn't show image. Tried switching to the front cam, nothing. After some time it simply crashed. OpenCamera says it can't start it and it might be in use by other app (after closing the stock camera).
Now I connected it again after that and it still doesn't want to work. I might've damaged something, which is kinda unlikely since it worked worse, but still worked after the first teardown.
Maybe it is a software issue? There's some camera firmware I've heard of, might be that too. Or I just trashed the cam, possible too. But what's weird is that the front camera also doesn't work...
Edit: it was the BeastMode kernel... Says it is made for A2017U's and my thing is a G
Lol it was BeastMode Kernel. Thanks for all the help
Hi all, flashed S7 EDGE on U which is 10 the loader, and ceased at once to work that is the camera ( camera failed ) and flashlight is also not working. Put the camera even new and still not working, blinking flashlight works when uvedomlenie.
Not sure what uvedomlenie might be and when you say you [put the camera even new and still not working], I'm assuming that means you installed a new camera? If that is the case it might be a good idea to recheck connections. As I recall, the flex cable for the camera snaps in beneath the motherboard and may be prone to come loose if not careful. I don't think the firmware version flashed has anything to do with camera app issues. It sounds like hardware, and that would be the actual camera.
Hello Team,
I've had my Essential Ph-1 for several years and loved it. Recently I replaced the battery with no issues. However, I notice that since replacing the battery, the stock camera app would not launch with an error initializing the camera, and it said to restart the phone. Rebooting the phone made no difference.
I opened the device back up and carefully checked all the wires and connections, and they're all tight and nothing looks cut, cracked, or disconnected. I tried a third party camera app (OpenCamera), and it worked fine on the front facing camera, but the rear camera was in black and white only. Since then I have tried factory resetting and re-flashing the firmware, and now the front camera works (in third party app) but the rear camera is not even recognized and I don't get an option to swap cameras.
Any suggestions? Is there anything I can check to troubleshoot this further?
TIA!

As it's happened at the same time as battery replacement you'd have to think the two are related. Possible try a "simulated battery pull" to ensure camera is powered down, that is a force restart, press power button & vol driven together for 15secs (I think). If this doesn't work try disconnect/reconnect any components related to camera. Only other thing I can think of is the camera or related component has received ESD damage form static electricity (most likely a diode or small IC), maybe you can find a cheap bricked or damaged phone for spares, if camera module expensive, assuming it's the camera.
Appreciate the response. I think you're right. I've forced restarted and flashed it back to stock, and while the stock camera doesn't work, I found that if I use a third party app (such as OpenCamera) the rear camera works in Greyscale only (not in Color).

hummmm ... Yes, hard to say for sure boat seems like some hardware issue on the color camera, hope you can find a simple fix.
Appreciate the followup. After looking farther. I see there is a hairline crack in the camera. I bought a parts EssentialPH1 off of eBay for ~$50 and will give swapping them a shot.

that would likely explain it, hope you fix it easily (see the video on youtube from Fixeze & ifixit if you haven't already
