80+ hz mod petition to developers - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Guides, News, &

A reminder to devs about this mod showing it's possible. I hope you can find it and/or port, develop and improve it in a near future.
EDIT: I did an small tool to unpack dtbo.img and repack again with framerate and clockrate modified. I tried many configurations and only 66hz was working for me but unstable. just flash the new dtbo.img in TWRP and reboot. Here you have the instructions to run it:
- Write the amount of Hz that you want in info.txt file
- Place dtbo.img inside the folder (with exact name "dtbo.img")
- Install VirtualBox and a Linux image, latest Ubuntu version.
- Login in ubuntu and open Terminal
- If you want unpack and check only the dtbo.img files after unpack run Extract.sh file ("sh Extract.sh" in Terminal)
- If you want unpack, modify hz amount in dtbo.img files by the amount in info.txt file and repack again run Patch.sh file ("sh Patch.sh" in Terminal).
Feel free to modify Patch.sh code if you want improve it and/or test it. I dont know exactly what parameters we need in "qcom,mdss-dsi-panel-clockrate" and "qcom,mdss-dsi-panel-framerate" use hexadecimal code. You can check also another parameters if it's needed but I dont understand how these parameters works.
EDIT2: I uploaded an improved version from my extractor, thanks to @Saratoga79
HiiraKernel dev confirmed he will add screen OC refresh in future versions, thanks to @alk3p

Thanks to @RealHeart, @AtomSand, @954wrecker and @ugene1980 for Mi 9T Pro mod version. It would be amazing have it on this K30 Pro.

Duplicated

Currently K20 Pro mods do not work on K30 Pro. I tested most of them. Also the stereo mod is not working.

Yeah I know, this thread is a petition to port k20 pro mod to new k30 pro. Also I show a video from a tweak already done back in march in k30 pro so it exists but i think it's private.

If I remember correctly, the phone in the video has been confirmed to be k20pro

Just buy OnePlus if you want 90hz screen. Seriously
Android 10 broke almost all mods >69Hz anyway.

When this becomes available, I will have to unlock my phone's bootloader to get it right?

I think it's legit a K30 Pro phone, even Xiaomi high executive talked about this:
In response, Wang Teng, product director of Xiaomi/Redmi, said on weibo: “The magic change requires Root. After Root, user is not eligible to claim official warranty, we do not recommend this operation, please be careful.“

Nice Info. I'm waiting for a developer or modders that will give us the steps how to increase the refresh rate

I hope its true, but the method he used in that post (modify dtbo partition, zhihu.com) have already been tried by other developers from coolapk and nothing happeded. Besides, the icons in states bar of lmi at that time is very close to screen edge, unlike the phone in video. Some developers say that the refresh rate is locked in the kernel (I'm not sure). May there‘s a long time to see 80 Hz refresh rate mod

80hz+ on the poco f2 pro would be awesome!!

There is this tech tuber that is also looking into getting 80hz mod . He talks about getting a Dev to modify a .bat file that set the screen refresh rate
https://youtu.be/QsNbL1RoDwY

I think it's just a matter of time before someone does it.

Let's hope it's sooner rather than later. This and dual speaker mid are the things I wait for the most.

K30 ultra has been announced by Xiaomi which is the k30 pro but with 120hz display, a smaller battery and mediatek dimensity 1000+ chipset. If the panels are not different then it should be possible to over lock the display to at least 90hz.

Huawei released 2.3.3 for C8800 - Could work for U8800?

Hey as stated, I found this a guy brought up this @modaco threads thinking you guys here would want to see also would it be simple to modify this and thus giving us a proper 2.3 rom?
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...r-the-devs-huawei-c8800-gingerbread-firmware/
All credits goes to McSpoon.
here it states it has same hardware , but in small picture if you enlarge it you can see it says 256ram, also C8800 might indicate the mobile is for China's market only(?) that's why the Chinese rom only. Let's Hope it will be released soon
As far as I can see the only difference is that it's a CDMA phone so surely it can't be that hard to customise it for use on the X5?
Well it does look like the CDMA version of the U8800.
Considering the case of the ZTE Blade its possible that both models have the same amount of memory but half of it is software-disabled or something. Either way its a good starting point.
Fingers crossed
I doubt this is going to make it any easier to get a Gingerbread ROM fully functional for our phones, since it is running on the 7227 (Last Gen) processor with 256mb ram, no EMMC, the list goes on. Screenshots for the lolz:

Sad, I thought if getting something similar, would help greatly. I mean we have the things for our phone from CM7 which is based on 2.3 right?

OK, I found the "official" facebook page but you'll need to scroll down through "more" on their wall to find it, so I've copied the message flow below (I intend to add one of my own).
I rarely use facebook so does anyone know, if we all start adding our messages to that wall posting, will that cause it to rise to the top of their wall postings?
Should we "add as friend" the other people who say they own the X5 and have have already left messages so we can ask if they want to join us here at XDA?

Do you have somewhere to download the rom, or access to the phone or something? Some of the libs might be relevant to u8800 if for example the camera sensor is the same.
edit: found it don't worry. In case someone else is looking it's available here: http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/down...0&attachmentName=C8800V100R001C92B821SP03.zip

M2 has high quality with competitive price,
and Xiaomi m2 have MIUI,
but MX aslo has flyme os.
i will buy a MX and take some photos later :highfive:
我更倾向于魅族mx
我更倾向于魅族MX,因为使用过魅族M9手机,因为魅族是原创,更因为她拥有Flyme OS ,基于Android,但不止是Android .
加上现在魅族也已经开放源代码,希望越来越好!
If you want a MX dual core then there is a group buy on meizumxon for under $300.. bargain price.
http://meizumxon.com/meizu-mx-new-2-core-16gb-hk-group-deal.html
My advice: better have a solid dual-core than a quad core which will rarely benefit
MX 4-core > (Exynos 4412) device runs too hot at times on particular workloads (soft-decoding 10-bit 1080p H.264, for instance). If anything, dual-core M031 will be easier on budget. No external SD slot.
Flyme is not too bad, but has a tendency to crash & reboot (arrrrgh missed calls)
Xiaomi m2 > APQ8064 Krait? I'd rather wait for models with A15-core CPUs but you don't seem to have the time for that. But their MIUI is compelling for some and hopefully they indeed support their device unlike Meizu.
Huawei Honor > too little RAM (512 MB) and people report noticeable lag.
EDIT: I have to retract that statement about lag, it was the case of a specific user. From hearsay the Huawei Honor runs smoothly.

[BOOTANIMATION] Android L 60FPS 1080p

After lots of hours (I accept donations) I did all the frames lost of the android L bootanimation, so now it goes at 60fps (it used to go at 30fps). The change is huge.
You have to install the zip with a free app like Boot Animations in the Play Store. Don't use recovery!
bootanimation.zip original 30fps (Thanks Google)

New liter versions! Two liter versions with the original size and with a resized bigger one
If you have a different screen size go to: General Thread
I've been a lot of hours working on this. I would thank a lot if you buy me a beer: Beers Received: 40
Updated OP with images for compare (the difference in the device is even clearer). I did another version with less filesize (without losing quality) because I got lags in my nexus 4. If someone is interested in this version let me know here.
I can also make a bigger one in terms of pixels if it happens to be too small in your bigger-than-nexus-4 screens

Just check out the .zip file. It's not to be flashed. Place in /system/media or /data/local. Not sure why your phone would be boot looping. It wouldn't even flash if you tried.

Hey Brother! ...running L preview here. I downloaded bootanimation60.zip and placed it in the media folder!! Works absolutely perfect. Mucho props to the OP! Wish i had $$ to buy him a beer
WOW, renamed it from bootanimation60 to bootanimation, rebooted it twice to watch it, i liked how smooth it is when making the word android.
This animation should be the standard and the file isnt big either.
Very very good work!!
Thanks all for the feedback, I've uploaded a new version much liter (without losing quality). More details in the OP.
I need someone tell me if the 60fps version is smaller in your screen than the original one in the L preview.
Apart from that, all I uploaded are 720p instead of 1080p. If I receive enough donations I will make the 60fps for the 1080p version.
This is awesome. :good:
Amazing!
Yea it is smaller. I'm not sure what I should resize it to to fit.
I don't like that "donate and I will do more" thing. It is not the xda spirit.

You can make it bigger changing the resolution in the txt file inside the zip. I will do this and upload again but it will lose sharpness cause it is 720p not real 1080p. As I said I'm thinking in doing a real 1080p one.

It has an explanation: I did this animation for me and my nexus 4, and then I thinked why not to share (and If a get a few beers better ). That is very different from working for free for a 1080p version that I will not use, I'm a good guy but not a stupid one

First of all I appreciate your work.
But you can sweeten the pill as you want, these would be payments, not donations. Donations = you create something and I want to reward you for your efforts; payments = I give you something (money in this case) to receive something else from you.
And payments are not well-seen (or accepted) here.
This is for all: Because I think I've been bad interpreted I want to clarify that I only want donations for the work already done and your donation does not imply you will receive a 1080p version. I would do the 1080p one to thank the support if it is big enough but not like a job.
Apart from that, I'm waiting feedback from the new version

You can also pay attention to the good comments received.
If you don't like it just don't download, but as you can see lot of people does.
I recommend you the v2 version if you don't want to lose definition and the v2big if you want the correct size.
Looks good, nice and smooth. Thanks for the work

Camera2 API support?

Does this phone have it?
If yes, is the support enabled by default? Or do we need to root and enable it later by editing the build.prop?

For comparison, Redmi Note 5 Pro, the one that compared to this phone a lot, has Camera2 API support, but only if you edit the build.prop first (according to my friend that have it, I don't actually have that phone).
For me myself, I might will be still using my Mi 5s for foreseable future...

:highfive: Yeah, probably several years.
If me, it is me myself who are looking for this phone. RN5P still disabled the C2A, need (temporary) root to enable it. Same with this phone, if no C2A support out of box, at least we can enable it using the same method. But there is a rumour about major OTA update at 30 April. We expect to see a lot of improvement compared to the somewhat "beta" ROM from the media review unit. Let's hope to see the C2A has been enabled in this major update.

Haven't seen it anywhere yet. Only the 4K DCI/UHD and the 1080p has EIS already in the retail unit. The camera app seems will be updated tomorrow to support it. Hopefully, we can see the C2A support too in the next update.
Gcam will not work without camera api2 ! Let's wait and see...
Hope they will update to add support soon. Don't let the stock camera app be the limiting factor of image quality!
I hope someone comes with a GCam port for this phone. As far as what I tested, the phone's rear cam is quite good (except for very low light scenarios).
Also, the front cam desperately needs better balance in colors, dynamic range. Currently, selfie quality is quite decent, the colors are not accurate/natural even under good light (skin has a red tinge). And overall, brightness, noise level etc., could be tweaked a bit too.
Any suggestions for a different app that can bring out better photos out of the front cam??

Hey Aniket, thanks for the SS, can you install this Camera2 API Probe https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airbeat.device.inspector app, actually, in this app its gives the individual camera parameters for both front & back camera & earlier the app link that I gave, that shows the overall result so basically it was my bad so I'm requesting you to install this app instead now this time & ost the SS once again as I want to know all the parameters for both of the cam of this hone individually.
& is it possible to install Gcam in this hone without rooting or is there any tools available like this MI A1's AIO Toolhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-xiaomi-mi-a1-tool-drivers-unlock-t3742857 so that it can be rooted & unlocked automatically & that can be used by all the novice users, & whether all future OTA updates will be available if bootloader is unlocked & rooted & warranty will be voided or not

Little feedback

Hi,
I have the chance to have one Realme X2 Pro in my hands. So here is a little feedback
About performance : the fluidity is pretty insane. Thanks to the 12Gb RAM I didn't notice any lag during use. The Antutu Benchmark score is also insane and one of the best.
Color OS is pretty cool, not as good as Android stock but the traductions (in french) are good. The battery allow me to last 2 days with a intensive usage (Snapchat, gaming, sms, spotify etc..)
If you have any questions, do not hesitate I'll try to answer them

@nathan30
Great!
If you have USB-C to HDMI/DP cable, please test if X2 Pro can output video via the cable

Hi,
Unfortunatly, I didn't have.. But I've seen in the settings a DLNA and a Screencast options, so maybe it's possible to stream via those options
Where did you buy it from?
@nathan30 Is there a screen recorder with audio recording in ColorOS like in Oneplus phones?

From an adb shell, type:
getprop ro.build.ab_update
Or install an app called Treble check and it will tell you.

So project treble is available but the partition layout is only A and not A/B
Hello Nathan, i'm a eventually futur french user, and thank you for your feedback and my question is : the USB C is otg?
Cool tu travailles pour quel site ? Anyway back to English, were you able to get some information and android 10 availability, security updates schedule (can we expect a monthly update?), for how long we will get update /upgrade (the usual 3 to 4 years?)...
Hardware wise it seems cool, on the software side it seems to be another story... And launching an android 9 phone in 2019 October /November seems weird and a bit outdated...
Merci

Le café du geek
For all of you questions, unfortunately I don't have the answers :/
Hardware is very cool and software also nice. Launching Android 9 seems normal for me as Google and oneplus are the only brand to deploy Android 10

Thanks for your answers , I guess you will have to ask them as software is the major concern for people thinking about making the move to this relatively unknown brand (yeah I know that oneplus is family) .
Few other questions, India press (where it's already available) talks about bloatware being present, what type of extra software is aboard?
Also, I read your excellent article about screen refreshing rates issues (90 to 60 back and forth) about the oneplus 7, is the realme x2 pro having the same issue?
Merci et excellent dimanche !

I found that the boss of Realme said that they work on the specific version of ColorOS7 for Realme phone. No date for the moment
This is one of the coolest thing on the Realme, I didn't notice any bloatware. Excepted the default Google app (Vidéos, Photos, Duo etc..) but I was able to delete them all, except GMAIL.
For the screen refreshing dates issues, I didn't notice any lag as the OP7 for now
How's speaker and camera quality?

Speaker is pretty loud, not a clear sound but enough for Youtube and Netflix. About the camera, in day light is pretty good, the AI recognize quickly the scene. BY night, there is a little bit of noise when you zoom on the image, but the global picture is really nice with color very close to real color
hi, how is the aptic feedback (vibration), is like 'normal' phones or does it have a feedback aptic like the op7 pro?

Hi,
I didn't have the OP7 but I have the OP5 and the haptic of Realme X2 Pro is much powerful
Is it iphone like or just regular motor drive?
*edit: it seems the og message was not quoted. I meant the vibration motor, the haptic engine.
