Is there Any way to tether TF with Android Phone after Carriers' Crackdown on Tethering?
I have all the apps i could possibly need installed on my phone, yet even after paired with my transformer via BT, and the transformer showing it being connected to the internet. I get 0 data going from my phone to transformer.
I've tried PDAnet 3.0, Barnacle and WIFI Tether. No dice.
And you can rule out not knowing how to do it, I've been tethering for the past year only started being an issue after the crackdown.
3G Hotspot Hack

Not sure what you mean by 3g Hack... but i found something that works. Freezing data manager service with Titanium made everything work again. How exciting! Though, i think data transfer is super slow...
Have I missed something? Crackdown on tethering?
Edit : looks like its US only at the mo.
Can a carrier tell if data is from the phone or via tethering????

I tether just fine on my mytouch 4g running cyanogen mod 7. I dont think carriers notice if you tether another android device because on their end it just looks like an android device accessing it, not a laptop or such. I think they check user agent strings. I've honestly never had a problem tethering on TMO and never got any text or anything about it being blocked. I do keep an eye on my data usage just to make sure I dont raise any red flags in their system. I havent tried tethering my laptop since the crackdown but I did install a plug in for firefox that allows you to change the user agent string so the servers think it's an android device accessing the network
Hey Guys, been following this thread since I ordered from Best Buy, finally decided to join and post. I have mine coming on the 12th hopefully.
I read about the crackdown on tethering but from what I understand they are just making the tethering apps not show up in the market, they are not necessarily doing anything to prevent tethering.
I am currently using wireless tethering on my droid 2 with the Ipad 1 and have been for quite some time without a problem. Hope that helps and love this forum, thanks guys...
Tethering with my iPhone via bluetooth. So far, no warrant of arrest yet from AT&T.

One thing to note is that Honeycomb doesn't recognize Ad-Hoc networks. You may be having problems if you're trying to set up your phone as a wi-fi hotspot. Trying using the bluetooth tethering options.
Hi, i've just found out how to connect my phone (xperia x10) to my just arrived transformer.
I've been looking all through the forum to find out how to share my phone's connection but i didn't find any solution so, i hope, my reply will help at least you not to waste time any further
Simply install "PdaNet Tablet" both on your tablet and your phone (yes, PdaNet TABLET also on your phone).
This is how it worked for me:
1) Start "pdanet tablet" on your transformer and set the proxy hostname and port as stated in the program (127.0.0.1 and 1234)
2) Start "pdanet for tablet" on your phone and click "enable pda server"
3) Wait a few seconds
4) Allow your phone to open bluetooth and be visible
5) On your tablet, on the "pdanet tablet" screen click "tap to discover new phones"
6) On your tablet click on your phone's name
7) DONE!
I hope this helped
Crazy idea, wait for it....pay.

Then the connection will drop after browsing 2-3 web pages.
At least that's my experience with the PDANet Tablet.
Email client and GMail client do not seem to work either.
I hope they will fix it and make it stable, its a good solution for people with stock ROM (both phone and tablet).
I have the Thrive, latest updates, etc. (stock)
My phone is a Verizon Droid Incredible 2 - Android 2.3.3 (stock) Bluetooth 2.1 +edr
Not really willing to root either of the devices (could, but I got over that back in my Win Phone days).
Here's the issue...I've tried about every permutation of startup on PDANet Tablet for both phone and tablet that I can think of, but can't get it to work. All I have is the phone saying "Paired but not connected" (I do get a popup on the phone even asking if it can share its internet connection). The tablet, however, say's they're connected but doesn't get through to the Internet.
Thoughts?
Suggestions?

Hi there.
After last update. I have difficulty with internet access after Shield came back from sleep mode . Local networking just fine but as soon i click on Opera or any TV apps which use inet strumming I've got message: "no internet connection".
I find out way how to fix it but I'm not happy with it. If I unplug internet cable and put it back, every thing go back to normal till next sleep mode.
Any recommendation?
Thank you .

My Shield TV Pro has the same issue with latest firmware v2.1 on Android 5.1. I believe it's an Android 5.1 issue mainly, as my grandma's 2nd gen Motorola Moto G XT1063 is exhibiting identical issue on Android 5.1. My Nexus 6, Nexus 5, and my grandma's Nexus 7 LTE (2013) were all having a similar issue with their WiFi connection when they were on 5.1. I've never noticed this issue on my Nexus player, but then again by the time I bought it, the issue was already sorted out with 5.1.1 update. This issue isn't present with Android 5.1.1 and 6.0.
I have been using vysor since i had my Samsung galaxy S4A and it has been working flawlessly which is why i bought it. Ever since I changed phones from s7 to s10+ I've noticed that after a bout 3-5 minutes of playing I get a blue lock on the screen and it makes me pull to the side to unlock it. What i don't understand is why this started happening when i have had two phones (S4A and S7A) both worked perfectly without getting this annoying blue lock screen and now i cant even play/macro a game without the screen locking. Anyone else use this software getting the same thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you just right click with your PC mouse and sweep upward on the mirrored phone to unlock it?
I just found this thread long after I got Vysor (and scrcpy) to work (almost) flawlessly on Android 11 (with USB setting up the initial adb connection and then switching to Wi-Fi thereafter)....
In early May I updated from Android 11 to Android 12 and I found out that Android 12 has a fantastic new Developer option "Wireless debugging" feature where you can set up the adb connection to the PC completely over Wi-Fi (no need for the initial USB connection!).
I just wanted people to know new information related to using Vysor completely over Wi-Fi (no USB connection is ever needed again!).
This always on Wi-Fi Vysor capability is new in Android 12 because Android 12 has a new Developer option for "Wireless debugging".
However, Android 12 also has a new Developer option for "Enhanced MAC Randomization" which randomizes the MAC address on every Wi-Fi connection, so with that added desired Wi-Fi simplicity in Android 12 comes also the added desired privacy of MAC randomization on every connection (the difference being Android 11 only randomized the MAC per SSID, as far as I understand it).
All this new Android 12 functionality has implications for your Vysor (and scrcpy) setup, based on my tests over the past couple of months.
Of course, if your router is using the MAC address to hand out the IP address you might need address reservation since the router can no longer expect a consistent MAC address if you set that new Android 12 Developer option but you can set the Android phone to request a "Static" IP address (if you want the adb connect commands to be consistent in the IP address in day to day usage).
I have found that rebooting the PC causes me to need to reconnect via an adb command on the PC before Vysor will work, and, for unknown reasons yet, often the Android 12 "Wireless debugging" switch gets turned off (mysteriously) - which affects the Vysor (and scrcpy) connections from one day to another.
It's no big deal once you figure out the commands and switches though, where the screenshots below show the settings I currently have on my unrooted Android 12 Samsung Galaxy A32-5G phone from T-Mobile (many of which are for privacy and functionality reasons).
This has actually been bugging me for years but now I finally open this question to forums: So I have at my home several wifi-devices. And my wifi comes from my phone that creates the hotspot. Apps for controlling these wifi-devices always require wifi-connection to the same wifi-network they are themselves. So i need to have a second phone to control them because my "main phone" cannot be both hotspot provider and connect to the same hotspot itself. Is there any workaround to this ? Using android 10 with Zenfone 7. I would love to get rid of that 2-phone system at home. And i' not looking for solutions that require more devices
