Hey guys,
My daughter bought herself a Archos 70b Neon some years ago, but it is now getting really slow and low on space. So I was wondering if there is a way to install Android Go or another lite weight or custom rom that works better with this tablet.
I am not sure if this is a Gen8 tablet or lower/higher Gen.
I hope somebody here can help me or point me into the right direction.

So I saw on another site a review where some dev got a color Nook running Android 3.0.
Seemed pretty responsive. Everything seemed to work and I am pretty sure the Nook does not have a multi-touch screen???
So if they were able to get 3.0 on a Nook then our device should be possible. Seems like you need 4 gb space to run 3.0 and since our device has just 4 gb internal storage it should work as long as apps are saved to an external sd card!!
Makes me have hope!!

The Nook Color has multi-touch.
I obviously did not know that. So it has capacitive multi touch and what is the retail?
Maybe I should return my elocity a7 and get a nook until I can afford to upgrade. 300 is a lot of money for me and a I really can't afford it and I thought this would last and if it was the a7x or a10 I would be very happy but I cant afford the extra hundred. The Heawie S7 is the only other device I was thinking and an Archos 70. I just think the elocity is such a great tab except for the muti touch and the screen looks great so compared to the Archos this has better specs.
I was just hopeful because Ithought the nook was not so sophisticated.
The Nook looks like a nice gadget too, hi res screen as well. What it doesn't have is a dual core Tegra 2, nor does it have HDMI out. It is only $250 though...
Yeah, it is awesome. I created a Honeycomb SD card for my wife's Nook Color. It looks amazing. I can't wait for it on my A7. By the way, the Nook absolutely DOES have a multi-touch screen. I downloaded some NES and Super NES emulators. You can't play them on the Elocity A7 because of the lack of multi-touch, but I was surprised to discover that the Nook Color works great. (almost iPad-like)...almost. Now if they would just come out with a Nvidia Tegra 2-based Nook Color 2 that would be awesome, I would ditch the A7 for sure.
If you check here you can play all the emulators on Elocity A7 perfectly!

Just need a controller and the Mod found on that link.
They say it plays them great too.
I plan to install this after I buy a controller.
Seems like the nook is one heck of device and a decent price point too.
If there are work arounds for the touch screen then the elocity is worth keeping for sure and this is what I have been hoping but I am no programmer and have to relie on the community to make things work when it should be Elocity doing this research for us.
Now do I take back the a7 and buy a nook color just so I can run honeycomb and play multi touch games or do i keep my speedy a7?
What would you do?
I have a couple weeks to decide. I am leaning on keeping my a7 and just upgrading in a year and watch everyone else running 3.0 while i drool and wish in the mean time.

Perhaps this will help you decide. Not sure when this was added but from the FAQ at elocitynow.com:
Q: Can the A7 be upgraded to Honeycomb 3.0?
Due to hardware issues, it is not expected that the operating system of the A7 can be upgraded to Honeycomb.
gingerbread?
Since it seems 3.0 is out of the question what about gingerbread? I would be happy with that. Then at least we would have the most updated system up to 3.0.
The other question is can the touchscreen be upgraded? Could we simply install a touchscreen with multi touch w same dimensions? Then upgrade to hc?
I will have to try the nook out and see. I really can't fork out another hundred for a newer device.
Kind of upset now. Still i have to remind myself that this unit does everything I want right now and it is probsbly wiser to save my money and wait for better devices in a year and hope yhe community willhelp when elocity wouldn't.
I think Elociy should do something for those thier first device. I have a feeling right now they are focusing on new products and leaving us behind. Does not make me a happy customer.
You can play alot of the Emulator games with a Xbox 360 Controller. I find that alot better then having to hold the tablet while i play. Just throwin that out there.
I do not have an xbox but would like to know more about what you are talking about. Is it a controller to play android games or is it xbox games played on the a7?
Could you tell me more, I am very interested in this. Thnks robert
Its an Xbox controller to play Emulators on EloA7.
Okay, so I'm thinking of taking the proverbial 'plunge' and buying a tablet, and the Advent Vega is looking like a good candidate because of its price and decent spec. But I could use a bit of advice.
Firstly, I should say I'm familiar with Android and flashing ROMs etc - I have a HTC desire that I've rooted, SIM unlocked, and re-flashed many times, so the concept of flashing new ROMS is not new to me. I'm really looking for a tablet that can run Honeycomb respectably, but the Motorola Xoom and Asus Transformer are just a bit too pricey for me.
So here's what I want a tablet for. I'd be really, really grateful if someone could advice me whether the Vega will do the job.
- Web browsing and blogging - I need something I can carry around easily and type on fairly easily; I'm pretty good with onscreen keyboards so long as the hardware can keep up with my fingers.
- Gaming. I want to be able to play some of the high-end Android titles - the latest offerings from Gameloft, etc - in decent quality, ideally on Honeycomb. Can the Vega do this (with modified stock OS or VegaComb)?
- TV / Movies - I want to be able to carry films around and use the HDMI output to watch them on a big screen, without the content stuttering and jerking around.
So that's pretty much all I'm after. Will the Vega be capable of this, do you think? Or would I be better off sticking with something a little more well-known like the Samsung Galaxy Tab (which was my original intent).
Thanks for any advice you can give.
I can tell you this..
The screen isn't something to brag about, but the tablet has serious power.
Gaming (like dungeon defender or riptide gp) and browsing is usually fast and fluent. Honeycomb is still in beta for the advent, but works quite well. I havent really used the tv-out Yet, but i've heard that it can only do 720p, which is fine with me.

Just as an update: I got my Vega.
And I LOVE it.
Currently using Fuji VEGA ROM, as VegaComb is a bit too choppy for me, but really pleased with how well the tablet performs. Thanks for the help, peeps.
Vegacomb gets better with time, its a brilliant tablet !
You wont regret it.. I got one 5 days ago, and dont know why you would want to pay almost double for some of the other tabs...
I know some people have some gripes (viewing angles and screen being the main ones...), but weigh this up against the cost and its a no brainer IMO
Specs do state 1080p playback is possible, but Ive not tried it yet so cant comment, but not too fussed about this.. I bought it so I can watch SD video when travelling... I did read somewhere it depends on the filetype, i.e., mp4 rather than mkv...
Best £200 Ive spent in a long time!
Hi guys, Having just upgraded to a Eee pad transformer I would like to sell my vega.
Where do you guys think is the best place to sell it? I have a dock with it also.
Would I need to send it back to stock if selling to CEX etc?
Thanks.
If these Q's are frowned on by the Mods then I apologise.
A bit off topic but I'm just wondering as someone who has had both, what are the advantages of the transformer over the Vega?
Cheers,
Malty
As I had the vega on vegacombe, the software side of things is very similar. you can probably guess that the asus is smoother as it uses a final build rather than beta. The screen is also far better than the vega.
The main reason for changing is the fact that my netbook is on the way out and as I use it as my main device I thought why not combine the two. The mouse on the asus is great. Works really well with honeycombe.
The best way to describe it is like having a VW compared to a Kia. Just slightly better in every aspect.
The vega was there as a test piece for me and it served its purpose.
Does that make sense?
I bought a Nexus 7 to use it as an ebook reader and I'm plenty satisfied in that regard. I soon discovered that I can do plenty of other interesting things with it so I rooted it mainly to install the Sixaxis app. My main point of interest is with emulators. I've bought every decent emulator available in the Google Play store (see the screenshot ). Soon, I saw the limits of the N7: small screen and average CPU/GPU performance.
So, I started looking for another 10 inches Android tablet and, until yesterday, it was to be a Nexus 10 (when available). But, after reading a lot of complains about the Exynos 5 in the N10 being throttled, I wonder if this tablet is really the best choice in term of available CPU / GPU performance. If only a fraction of the Exynos 5 power is available due to thermal constraints or if it gets throttled a lot, maybe the N10 isn't the best tablet out there for gaming and emulation...
I know that I could flash another ROM and start fiddling with the CPU parameters but I don't like that idea. I'm worried about battery life, overheating and all the troubles you get when you want to update to a newer version of Android after you switched ROMs. Overclocking is not something I want to do either. I would like to stay with the stock ROM. Are my concerns about changing ROMs valid? I may change my mind about this though, if it's the best solution and there is no danger of damaging my N10.
So, my questions are: is the N10 a good choice for emulation and for gaming? Is there other 10 inches tablets that would fill the bill better? Should I think about ROM replacement and/or tweaking instead and stay with the N10? I started checking the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it doesn't compare very well to the N10 (price, specs, screen). Also, there is the Tegra4 pointing at the horizon...
Edit:
I'll probably go for the N10 when it will be available. I'm reading the AOKP ROM thread and it sounds like the dev has nailed most of my concerns. Here's the link of the thread:

Hello everyone im a new member and need some help i bought the lenovo yoga tablet 2 pro yesterday and its ****in mint im really impressed with it. the projector surpassed my expectations by a mile as i can currently get it in a decent quality way over 100" screen size on my bedroom wall.
