If I need to root, that's fine. Is there an app in the Play store that will do this? I see quite a few Font Installer apps, but I know that not all of them work correctly on different phones and OEM rom's.
On my Nexus 4 I had a Roboto Light zip file that just told the system to use Roboto Light (as opposed to actually overwriting fonts). Can the same method be used on this phone?
Thanks!

I use Font installer by JRummy. Has tons of fonts to choose from. Have to be rooted. The weird thing about it is, that when you find a font u like, and install it, the phone will reboot, and the font will look the same as it was. You have to go into settings/display/font type, and if u look at roboto, it changes that one to the one u installed. Just choose roboto, and it will be the font u downloaded with the app....
Great, thanks! Is there an easy way to undo this if I want?

Sorry but why are you trying this through ADB? You are decompiling and editing your own LGSystemUI.apk switching icons and you are trying to overwrite it? (pull and push)
Do you have ROOT access? This app is in System and I think root is a must and if you trying to change it while ROM is running it will crash.
So I guess you are doing it in Recovery ? Meaning you are rooted, and you are adding the correct permissions?
So either you are not rooted in which case I do not think this is possible or you are rooted and there is more things that can go wrong.
Need more info from you.
ALSO if you are rooted why dont you try Xposed and its vast theming possibilities ? Easier as decompiling an app. Even here in this section you should have some options to choose from.
Thanks for response so yes i am root no rom installed i did this all day in my epic when i had it but its not working on this lg the whole reason is for so i can change the wifi and signal bar icons only to a specific icons i have, any help please

I am not sure I can help you there much. As you did not mention where it fails?
Its a long time since I was doing this with the APKTool or some "All in one" solution. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/guide-to-decompiling-and-recompiling-with-apktool/
Basically you have to find the right tool for the right Android version. Follow the guide on the recompiling - so LG accepts the file. And adb push in recovery with the permissions so you do not have problems starting it.
Always have a back up!
But maybe check in the xposed department really. I mean here are some modders already
I would suggest write them a PM like @ock he made a theme kitkat icons in his thread. Maybe he could just tell you how to exchange it with your own icons.
Imma research thanks man u pointed me in right direction so far

Open the APK with Winrar navigate to res/drawable-xxhdpi and drag your icons there (make sure the names match with the names of the PNG's you want to replace. Then adb push LGSystem.apk

Use xposed installer and then install unicon tweak for change icon pack from go launcher ,apex launcher ,etc.
I have Xposed installed, but I can't find UNICON TWEAK as a module in Xposed. Can you please confirm the name and where to get it from?
Thanks
