How can I change my system font to Roboto Light? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I need to root, that's fine. Is there an app in the Play store that will do this? I see quite a few Font Installer apps, but I know that not all of them work correctly on different phones and OEM rom's.
On my Nexus 4 I had a Roboto Light zip file that just told the system to use Roboto Light (as opposed to actually overwriting fonts). Can the same method be used on this phone?
Thanks!

I use Font installer by JRummy. Has tons of fonts to choose from. Have to be rooted. The weird thing about it is, that when you find a font u like, and install it, the phone will reboot, and the font will look the same as it was. You have to go into settings/display/font type, and if u look at roboto, it changes that one to the one u installed. Just choose roboto, and it will be the font u downloaded with the app....

Great, thanks! Is there an easy way to undo this if I want?

Try iFont from Play, that may work.
Don't use ROM toolbox or any other font changing app. They will give u boot loops.
First make a nandroid backup.
Download your font and make sure its the same style as the one you want to replace (normal, bold, italic). It also must be ttf, not otf.
Then using a root file manager go to system/fonts and delete the font that you want to replace. Then paste the downloaded font into the directory and change its name to the font that it will be replacing (ex: Roboto-Regular.ttf)
Change its permissions to rw-r-r and reboot.

First things first, YOU'RE DOING A FABULOUS JOB. Keep up the good work :good:
Now coming to my doubt, Can we use the same above mentioned method to change the font style in the STOCK ROM & KERNEL?
If no then please guide how can I change the font style? I prefer not to use third party applications.

Just go here, and download the font packs of your choice. Then boot into a custom recovery and flash. This works fine on stock rom & kernel, but you need root and a custom recovery.

Too good
I have AOKP rom. iFont works but it changes ALL the fonts.
Is there an app which only changes the fonts I want to change?

Fonts?

Anyone manage to install new fonts that don't suck via flashable zips or any other method?

Download an app called iFont. Horrible name but great app for applying fonts! Only way I've found to change fonts. You can even install fonts to the app that are locally on the device. Good luck!
Rom Tool Kit Lite or Pro works fantastic. I had no problem installing fonts on my ATT s4 running Liquid Smooth :thumbup:
"Zed?Zed's dead baby;Zed's dead"
Ya ROM tool box that's the one I forgot about thanks

Personally, I use Font Changer Lite [root]. Once installed, just find a .ttf file an put it in the .FontChanger folder on your sdcard, and it changes ALL fonts (statusbar, text messaging, system fonts, everything). If you want different fonts for specific apps or whatever, you can use the advanced option to specify. @martino2k6 is the creator, and all credit goes to him. I've been using this app since I got my Atrix 4G in 2011. Check it out.

Also, I know the following font packs thread is a bit dated, but there's a ton of them here.

Personally, I love the Armani font. I've attached it below. If you want to try it out just drop the .txt from the end of the file.

I use Font Changer Lite too. Just make sure to only use TTF (TrueType) fonts and not OTF (OpenType) or you won't be able to boot.

I used rom toolbox. I went into settings on phone changed font to anything but robots. Picked font on rom toolbox, downloaded. Then restart phone, go back into settings and now pick robots. The font you downloaded will be applied under the robots name. Then restart phone again and new font will be everywhere. Works great
