MOTOROLA UTILITY BY THEREALDUFF1
View https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DdZhVae_p0 to see how I created this program !
Please like and subscribe to my youtube channel to encourage me to create more tools for the members of xda ! I really really appreciate it
This is a GUI based program, which I have started programming in python.
Unlike other tools, this one is specifically made for the Motorola G3.
This entire tool is foolproof, so if you think you may brick your device when flashing TWRP, or stock rom by typing the wrong command, this is the place to be!
All of the tools are included in the program, including the TWRP.img file, and ADB and Fastboot tools. The Motorola drivers are inside the zip, so you don't have to go searching for them !
I have updated Motorola Utility, to be able to work with marshmallow perfectly. V6.2 is uploaded now and is avalible at http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=17073
Lollipop Version Available In Downloads Section !
Features
-- Marshmallow Compatible
-- Moto G 2015 Specific
-- Roots Your Device
-- Flash TWRP
-- Flash Custom Roms ( Coming Soon !)
-- Flash Stock Rom
-- Safely Upgrade Your Device To Marshmallow (Coming From Lollipop Or Marshmallow Custom Rom)
-- Push Modded Zips To The Device(Coming soon to Motorola Utility Marshmallow !)
-- Lock The Bootloader
-- Troubleshoot Your Device For Problems (Currently In My Beta Version Of The Tool)
Information
This program is currently stable, and only finished and beta features are in the program.
If you would like to contribute to this project, feel free to drop me a message, or email me at [email protected]
In one of the comments, I have posted a screenshot of the program, if anyone would like to see it running
Prerequisites
-- Python 3.4

Does the link show now on your side?
If it does , please to reply with your opinions on the program, as i would greatly appreciate your opinion. Open toolkit.py first, as that is the main program
Please take into account that this is a very early version of the program , and does not include all of the features in the description. This is a start point !
I am also 15 yrs old, so I have alot of time on my hands to work on this

The download link is up. Good job bro!
Very nice job dude... This was the application I eas waiting for... But does it unlocks bootloader?
Will you be able to root by booting to TWRP vice flashing boot to the G3?
Congrats with an end product. ?
I understand the handiness of such tools, but I've never been a fan of these GUI tools. Ultimately, the tool ends up coddling the new user and allows the lazy, support leech-type users to remain lazy and not learn what they're really doing.
Look at the support threads for Wug's Nexus toolkit as a great example.

I understand where you are coming from completely about lazy tech people , but this tool is intended for people who don't really know what they are doing , or don't want to risk bricking their phone in the flash progress.

I mostly agree, I appreciate that someone makes a tool like this, especially a 15 year old, but a certain niche of people are going to require being spoon fed even if the answer is in front of their face. I've said all along that a large majority of the people that have to get the latest Android and root it are doing it because everyone else is.

What would people think about mobile custom rom installers , which would wipe dalvik and cache , factory reset etc. ,and then install the rom for you ?
Maybe even make a backup on the job

By the way , you might want to put the adb and fastboot tools from version 1 of my program into version 2 , if version 2 is what you want to use . sorry about the problem , I just forgot to adb and fastboot in the zip

Excellent idea!!
I came across CM12.1 rom for Lenovo K3 Note on needrom. Considering that K3 have the same chipset as ours, I've been thinking that it can be ported to our device.
I've tried to port it past few days but failed. Any developer would come up and try to port it?
What have you done? Device tree something else?
Nope. Just changing libs here and there, according to this guide. I'm still noob in porting roms so I can't do much.

Yes. I'm actually having problem in repacking system.new.dat files. The same as the guy face here. Finding the solution require me to learn Linux. I'm still new at Linux, so I need some time to learn.
Other than that is okay (perhaps). I followed some other guides like http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707438.
Oh and one more thing, the rom is ported by @Cheshkin. I've tried to seek his permission to port the rom through pm, but still no answer. So I cannot post the rom here (if I done porting it) without his permission.

Would be graet to see CM to release this device's potential. Especially since HTC is taking it's sweet time with 6.0 update and 5.1 was officially skipped.
Anyway if you would need some testers I would gladly help.
Good news! The permission has been granted. I will try my best to port this rom.

I already did, but I can't repack it. So instead I tried looking for other roms while staying away from dat files - cm12.1 ulefone be touch 2 and blisspop k3 note.
Now I'm having problems with the kernel. The rom won't boot at all, the worse I can't get the dmesg.
I don't have much free time to explore kernels in detail. If anybody can help me with porting the kernel, it would be a pleasure.

I will try porting the kernel using the kitkat kernel as base when I find time
Unfortunately, I did not succeed, I could not even get into the bootanimation. Hope someone can help us.
I am now trying to squeeze the Lollipop system partition so that we can liberate some more free space for the internal storage, hope it works
That would be the coolest thing???
Hello guys hope you have been doing great, Was too busy with school, exams and stuff.
Good news!! I have finally managed to boot into CM 12.1 after I successfully ported it today.
It's lightning fast but has some bugs: USB, bluetooth and Sim don't work currently and it needs some resizing of the framework images.
I will try to work on it until Sunday and hopefully someone else can take over with modifying it

I agree with github. Great place for development. Saved my ass many times
I wouldn't worry too much about a GUI version. Cross-platform support is difficult and the shell script keeps things simple. But if you're determined to create a GUI, I recommend a dialog tool like zenity (or the yad fork which is even better). That way you can just add a basic GUI dialog to the shell script. I think zenity is available on OS X via homebrew, but it's probably not native. For native dialogs on OS X maybe use cocoaDialog.
I agree that it would be good to see this on GitHub. I do a lot of shell scripting and development on Linux (you can see my GitHub profile here). Just looking over this now, I already have some suggestions and hosting it on GitHub would make it easy to contribute via a pull request.
Updated and available on GitHub now!
As requested, the project is available on GitHub now!
I might separate the Mac support to it's own project and make the Linux version more fancy.
Anyone try this with a oneplus 3t? On osx ?
Does this unbrick a hard bricked device as well? I haven't tested it but great job
@KanPix Unlocking should work, but the TWRP is not for 3T. I'll probably rewrite the script for the 3 and the 3T. @michel sedgh I don't know about unbricking.

Update
I uploaded a new experimental version to GitHub, but
had to remove the automatic TWRP download function
because TeamWin does not allow it (if I have understood correctly).
I have tested most of it on Ubuntu 16.04 and worked for me.
I need some testers before I'll put it as the main version.
Also testing with a Mac and 3T would be awesome.
Temporary info: Official TWRP image does not work with the Android 7.0 update.
edit: latest 14.1 base out with fixed camera and booting
edit: alpha6 is out, sensors fixed, but camera is completely broken

best way to copy files onto device is through ssh, setup password in developer options
store is sometimes broken, you need to do devel-su pkcon refresh in terminal, need to set password up in developer options.
OTA - Over the Air update
Best way to update SailfishOS is by using an ssh connection to the phone.

December probably.
And I know I'm bothering, but another question...
Is this rom doesn't contain boot animation? Cuz I saw cm13 booted well, but after flashing this over cm13 I can't see anything except google logo. Should I set my bootloader to the latest one?
6.0.1 (MTC20L) is what am using
We currently don't have a custom ROM for the A20,
but it would be the next logical step.
If someone could develop a custom ROM it would raise our status in the xda community.

No luck there.
Back to the drawing board.

Were all hoping to get a working custom rom for this device, Keep up bro. Thanks for trying
Seems like all the GSI ROMs break some hardware functionality at this stage so the best option for now is to root and debloat stock and load your own preferred apps in place of the Samsung / Google ones. Not quite a "Custom" ROM but makes for a pleasant enough phone that you can tolerate much more than the horror of stock.
Now a custom kernel to clock our severely crippled SoC back to its full glory would be a thing to smile about

I think that's because you have to add the device in 8)Room tools, 4)Asserts menu, 1)Add/remove device, then try adding the device, in my case i added "a20,a205g", i don't really know what device name TWRP reads

When I flashed as A20, it told me the device was a20.
I added just a20. It flashed but froze on the Samsung screen.
Progress.
It's all a learning experience.
