Hi everyone,
I was proud owner of MI Max for 2 years and was admin for Max whatsapp group.
I still have the good old max running on MIUI android 7.
Recently I saw android 10 roms for our device so I decided to try them.
I flashed almost all android custom roms available for this device - android 8, 9 and 10 with using every possible recovery - official TWRP, PB, Ofox, SHRP, UNoffficial TWRP.
Every time I flash custom rom other than MIUi (MSM etd, AOSP etd, crdriod, pixel expi, lineage os etc)I got same mac address (65:12:56:ed:a4:38). And with this mac I cant connect to any wifi. It says connecting and then saved.
If I use MIUI, MIUI eu, MIUI pro this issue wont occur.
So I tried to solve this issue and find cause of this.
I found some useful threads 1, 2.
MAC address located in /sys/devices/soc/a000000.qcom,wcnss-wlan/wcnss_mac_addr file.
But I cant change value of these file, If i replace it with other file in TWRP and reboot then still the values got change to those abnormal MAC address.
Please if anyone knows about this issue and solution for it please let me know.
The leading developers of this device like @dungphp , @_firewall_ , @tarkzim are still doing great job of developing new ROMs for our device, if at all anyone of u knows any solution for this issue please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Will for new build for you test !
You can test this app for MAC replacement: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xnano.android.changemymac
Just tested it on my MSM Xtended Q and it works fine.
As I can see, you have another mac in MIUI. Just use it for the custom ROMs and you should be fine.

I am using this app only right now but when u reboot or put phone in aeroplane mode, the effect in reversed and bad MAC address comes back.
My main concern is how all custom ROMs can have same MAC address and MIUI dont have this issue.
Using MSM rom right now.
Thanks for reply.

Have you used the 'Change MAC address on boot' switch in the settings menu?

I can't specify the reason of such behavior. I didn't face this issue on my device. I used MIUI for 1 year and then went to custom ROMs with no issues.
Have you tried to flash the firmware for your device after flashing the custom ROM? It could be found in this thread:

Change MAC address on boot' switch
It doesn't work.
U have to do it manually.
I tried flashing firmware's multiple times.
I also tried fastboot flash and then wiping every thing and then installing custom rom but it wont help for any android version.

Clear. I don't use an apps like this one, so just trying to solve your issue. That's weird if this switch doesn't work correctly.

Thank you sir for the build.
Just tried the build but same effect, same MAC:crying:.
To my surprise I flashed via fastboot hydrogen_global_images_V10.2.2.0.NBCMIXM and the rom has exact same MAC but it can connect to any wifi.
I feel its ok now and I am continuing using cutsom roms with this app as suggested by @_firewall_.

Thank you really Sir for the ROM. But unfortunately even with random MAC I am not able to connect wifi. It says saved.
I used app and changed MAC and it got connect immediately with another random MAC.
During this process I used official TWRP latest version and to my surprise :good: restoring backup worked:victory:.
This is for first time I can backup and restore a android 10 rom successfully.
I am also using redmi note 7 pro in which backing up rom in recovery is almost of no use as it wont boot after restore.
But in our max I backed up MSM extended and restored it worked perfectly.
Hi, is this problem solved? It's seem i have some issue, several month ago i tried some custom roms for my mi max hydrogen and it can't connect to any wifi at all custom roms that i flashed. Now I'm stick at latest official MIUI.

Yes, i read about this too..... I have the Developer Option available already (a few taps on the version number) but no Google UI option there, just 3 options to chose from. Or do you know how to get more options?
I did a try a russian "2014-10-14--10-16-45 K920_ROW_S126_140825.7z" with their "twrp_2.8.0.1_recovery_K920Pro.7z" file but it "killed" my phone....
I can still access the Lenovo Re ovey and the root menu though.. But the operating system just hangs at the Chinese 4G logo.....
Im not able to restart the TWRP again. I start to dislike this odd phone now after spending 30-40 hours to try to get google play, gmail etc to work.. I should have bought a HTC or Samsung instead..

You shouldn't do that at the early release of the phone. Even any phone. You need to wait for the official rom release. How about you try fastboot and flash the twrp/cwm recovery. From the recovery use sideload to reflash the stock rom. Keep in mind that you should wait for a review or someone who actually successfully flash the custom roms/non-official rom. Except root, theres a number of successful root.

I know but i was desperate to get Google to work... Bricked or Chines system is same same for me...
Fastboot and TWRP cant find any device. Factory reset or wipe did not help either. Can access boot menu and Lenovo recovery, but need a recovery file first, and then we have problem with that i cant access the phones internal storage.... And this crap has no SD-memory either...
$700 down the drain for sure... Still have to buy a new phone though, and im still in China... Have to fly to HK to get a new phone... This is going to be expensive.
Thats what happen when you flash the unofficial rom. You know the risk. Make sure you have installed fastboot driver and adb driver. Im sure you can reflash the rom after you able to enter fastboot

Drivers are okay and have worked before. But now when running ABD Devices command, it show "? unautorized" so i get stuck there.
I SOLVED IT....... Except that the both SIM-card shows a red X.. but everything else seems, camera, GPS, WiFi to work AND it has GOODLE PLAY etc now.. Anyone know how to make the phone to work again?
I have tried ABD, Fastboot, TWRP, MiFlash, QPST, QMSCT_DL_EMMC_TOOL but nothing worked except following this instruction
I used the files in the Bin-folder of K920_ROW_S126_140825_user_1408251128 rom
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Phones/Lenovo-K910-Vibe-Z-bricked/m-p/1611710#M6838
Flashed back to the Chinese version and the SIM-cards works again... Any idea why the SIM-cards stops to work on the ROW rom?????

I haven't tried to do any customization like rooting, flashing ROMs on my sisters phone because it was too tricky, hell, even installing drivers is a mess.
I tried to install drivers from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370906 and solve the bootloop issue by using the steps from this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376667. I have the Stock ROM of Canvas 2 Colors downloaded but apparently, detecting the phone is the big issue.
What I tried was turning the phone off, removed the battery and plugged in my Laptop[Win 10], what I noticed was that it was getting detected in "Other Devices" as "MT65xx Preloader" and that detection goes away in a matter of seconds. Help me.

Ohh, sorry, I should have deleted this thread, the problem was, I should be looking in the parent directory for installing the drivers, and it just worked fine. The phone is working now, but the new thing is, it isn't supporting "Clash of Clans" now in the Play Store. It used to work previously.

It should but don't forget to backup your present rom (through a custom recovery) before installing a new one. It saves a lot of time in case something new doesn't work.
Wiko also has an updated custom kernel which improves performance and battery. But that can be done later on.

Firstly, I do not know if your phone came default with H2OS or OOS. So I will give you the route you need to choose if the default OS on your phone was OOS (Oxygen OS)
OOS
First take your phone back to default stock using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/guide-official-op2-stock-reset-to-oos-3-t3402020
Next unlock your bootloader from the developer options.
Then reboot to fastboot and flash TWRP Hybrid Version 3.0.2.0 [Search in the General Thread. I believe i have seen it there]
Lastly, follow the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/rom-hydrogenos-v1-2-0-sensors-t3264711 for H2OS
Try method 1 in this link. it will install Stock recovery, On there you can install Oxygen OS. If you need any help Message me.

ty man got my phone back <3<3
I have a redmi 2 as mentioned in the title, i have rooted it and using it. i tried flashing all custom roms, from lolipop to nougat. it doesnt seem to respond properly, too many random reboots, or bootloops.
so i wanted to flash the stock firmware and downloaded from mi website. I am unable to get my phone detected on the mi flash what so ever. really would appreciate if i can get some help, to flash fastboot rom. also some method to flash a good daily driver custom rom (volte support is not mandatory) just LTE working is fine.
i have other devices where i am able to tinker, except this. I flashed a redmi note3 recently too, but not able to get this redmi2 appear on mi flash.
thanks in advance
I think i can help you.
First uninstall mi flash
Assuming that you are using windows 8.1 or above, you first have to set the test signing mode off.
Press Start->Search->cmd then right-click on it and click Run as administrator. In the CMD window type this
bcdedit /set testsigning on
and press enter. Restart PC.
Now reinstall mi flash again. when installing there might be 3 - 4 warnings about installing unsigned drivers. install them anyway.
Now connect your Redmi 2 in fastboot mode. connect it with a proper usb cable to the system and then open mi flash. Press refresh on the mi flash application. Your device must be listed.
If not press start and select restart while holding down the shift button. Then select troubleshooting. In the advanced startup menu, select startup settings. Press restart. In the coming boot options menu, press 7 or f7. Now open mi flash and press refresh. Device must now be listed. hope it helps.
As for a daily driver rom, i would suggest cyanogenmod 14.1 nightly on 25.12.2016( the last nightly date ). VOLte works in my device. It will if you have flashed the lollipop firmware on your phone previously.

thanks in advance
I tried all the procedures, reflashed the stock firmware..and then booted with the latest cm14.1 nightlies..still my phone keeps on rebooting every 1min..
is it because of volte?i come from stock miui without volte enabled, and dont want either. i need a very stable rom like miui. . .but lighter one.
just in case i forgot to mention..i have the Redmi2 without volte, and 1 gb variant.
thanks in advance

Mine is also the same version, i have tried validus, tesla, lineage os(installed rn working fine),RR didn't faced any random reboots.
Try to flash the redmi 2/prime firmware via boot-loader don't use mi flash flash via adb/fastboot if possible don't use custom kernel.
and a different battery if possible.
Tip:- remove sim cards before flashing and format data via TWRP then wipe every thing except micro sd. And don't restore back-up created via Titanium backup either via update.zip or from app (some roms don't support so the device keeps restarting)

Yes its Okay but select flash all option, you should try to flash removing sim cards and memory card i strongly recommend. You can keep memory card while flashing custom ROMs.

I think this may fix the reboot problem. Now i performed a super clean method of flashing. And can you explain why it is important to remove sim/memory cards while fastboot and flashing?
After installing RR, restore the original firmware of Xiaomi Mi A1, the problem is that no longer stable wifi connection, find networks but do not connect, try everything and there is no way to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
There is someone who has happened to him this before.

I imagine that soon they will solve it, since the same thing is happening to many of them, what you can do for now is to install RR once again, since Wi-Fi works there.
same issue facing..

Please share the procedure, how to flash persist.img
Well, just find persist.img in the stock file like C:\Users\memo\Desktop\tissot_images_V9.5.9.0.ODHMIFA_8.0\images
then turn off your phone and enter into fastboot mode (down volume + power)
connect the phone to pc
the search for cmd
write : fastboot devices and if it shows number it means that is connect
then write: fastboot oem unlock (to unlock bootloader)
fastboot flash persist and grab the file and push it to the cmd
it should be end like this: C:\Users\memo>fastboot flash persist C:\Users\memo\Desktop\tissot_images_V9.5.9.0.ODHMIFA_8.0\images\persist.img
sorry if i haven't explain myself, i'm not a native english speaker.
GOOD LUCK

I tried with MetaPhoenix Kernel, and its working fine for me, one thing of this is best in the market, almost everytime 1.6Gb ram free, and stability and features are great. Thanks mate for the guide.
I do not speak English, but thanks to this page I was able to solve the problem. It's a persist.img that worked for me: D
