Redmi 2(1Gb ram,8gb storage,2014818 model indian variant) - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

I have a redmi 2 as mentioned in the title, i have rooted it and using it. i tried flashing all custom roms, from lolipop to nougat. it doesnt seem to respond properly, too many random reboots, or bootloops.
so i wanted to flash the stock firmware and downloaded from mi website. I am unable to get my phone detected on the mi flash what so ever. really would appreciate if i can get some help, to flash fastboot rom. also some method to flash a good daily driver custom rom (volte support is not mandatory) just LTE working is fine.
i have other devices where i am able to tinker, except this. I flashed a redmi note3 recently too, but not able to get this redmi2 appear on mi flash.
thanks in advance

I think i can help you.
First uninstall mi flash
Assuming that you are using windows 8.1 or above, you first have to set the test signing mode off.
Press Start->Search->cmd then right-click on it and click Run as administrator. In the CMD window type this
bcdedit /set testsigning on
and press enter. Restart PC.
Now reinstall mi flash again. when installing there might be 3 - 4 warnings about installing unsigned drivers. install them anyway.
Now connect your Redmi 2 in fastboot mode. connect it with a proper usb cable to the system and then open mi flash. Press refresh on the mi flash application. Your device must be listed.
If not press start and select restart while holding down the shift button. Then select troubleshooting. In the advanced startup menu, select startup settings. Press restart. In the coming boot options menu, press 7 or f7. Now open mi flash and press refresh. Device must now be listed. hope it helps.
As for a daily driver rom, i would suggest cyanogenmod 14.1 nightly on 25.12.2016( the last nightly date ). VOLte works in my device. It will if you have flashed the lollipop firmware on your phone previously.

thanks for your reply...would definitely give a try....i mean im still on stock miui based on kitkat, havent flashed the lolipop firmware. I am running on windows 10, but what is the settings you recommended me to change on startup? i dint get that one. . . .
thanks in advance

I tried all the procedures, reflashed the stock firmware..and then booted with the latest cm14.1 nightlies..still my phone keeps on rebooting every 1min..
is it because of volte?i come from stock miui without volte enabled, and dont want either. i need a very stable rom like miui. . .but lighter one.
just in case i forgot to mention..i have the Redmi2 without volte, and 1 gb variant.
thanks in advance

Mine is also the same version, i have tried validus, tesla, lineage os(installed rn working fine),RR didn't faced any random reboots.
Try to flash the redmi 2/prime firmware via boot-loader don't use mi flash flash via adb/fastboot if possible don't use custom kernel.
and a different battery if possible.
Tip:- remove sim cards before flashing and format data via TWRP then wipe every thing except micro sd. And don't restore back-up created via Titanium backup either via update.zip or from app (some roms don't support so the device keeps restarting)

Mine is the same model and for me everything works fine. And volte works bcz i fastbooted miui 8 lollipop.I have tried the same roms as you mentioned but whenever i place a call through volte it restarts.Sometimes it reboots after the call and sometimes when placing a call. Can't able to solve this annoying problem so i am back to miui bcz this is my primary device. But i hardly want naugat :crying:

Did you tired to repartition your device or use of custom kernel or any mod? Try to use another battery i think it might be creating prob. I will provide you proper link for fast boot firmware which i used. Might help you then you can try custom rom. Feel free to ask any question

Yes its Okay but select flash all option, you should try to flash removing sim cards and memory card i strongly recommend. You can keep memory card while flashing custom ROMs.

I think this may fix the reboot problem. Now i performed a super clean method of flashing. And can you explain why it is important to remove sim/memory cards while fastboot and flashing?

Frequently asked questions (Beginners guide through forum) A6000

I don't want to be rude but I am starting to get a little annoyed with same questions repeating over and over on all threads so i decided to post some answers here where they could be easily accessed.
1. Q:""Can i flash this Marshmallow/Lollipop/Nougat rom over my stock KitKat?"
A:The answer in most cases is that you cant (except in ED300 CM12.1 Rom but its still preferred that you flash stock Lollipop firmware separately). For those who don't want to waste their time flashing Stock rom there is an alternative flash-able zip could be found here
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...itkat-lolipop-firmware-base-switcher-t3249046 - for A6000
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/how-to/firmware-base-switcher-a6000-plus-t3411914 - for A6000 Plus.
2.Q:"Where can i find TWRP recovery for my firmware?"
A:Here you go
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/how-to/twrp-development-wt86518-t3498524 - Lollipop/Marshmallow/Nougat recovery developed by TingyiChen
- https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2xkkOmw_M2NNXlVYnFYZnRIZHc?usp=sharing - made by SevenMaxs
TWRP 2.8.6.1 Is KitKat only compatible recovery
TWRP 2.8.7.7 Is Lollipop only compatible recovery
TWRP 3.0.2.0 Is Lollipop/Marshmallow/Nougat compatible recovery
*I couldn't find official links so i uploaded files to my google drive if any developer has a problem with this he can DM me and i will update the links *
3.Q:"Does this rom support VoLTE?"
A:So long there isnt a rom that supports VoLTE (As far as i know). There is some lib or source code problem with VoLTE (idk i am not a developer). There is a thread about this topic here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/help/lenovo-a6000-plus-volte-support-t3418004 -
4.Q:"Does this rom/kernel support OTG?"
A:No there is not.OTG support is a kernel feature that isnt available for our device.Maybe devharsh1998 is working on this maybe he isnt who knows be patient.
5.Q"Which rom is the best?"
A:Answer for this question is subjective you can always easily try couple of them.I like mshoaib7 ports i am currently on Nexus Experience ROM but i plan on switching to nougat soon.
6.Q"ED300 links aren't working?"
A:ED300 isn't developing for our device anymore and his thread links are not working but you can try some of the files that are on his androidfilehost folder
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=96089
This isn't tested by me and since the development stopped they are not recommended since bugs can't be fixed anymore.
7.Q"My phone is bricked heeeellllppppp?!?!"
A:If you are stuck on a splash screen/bootlogo
Can you enter recovery by restarting your phone and holding vol+ and vol-.If answer is yes just reflash the rom or try different one.If you cant enter recovery mode but can enter fastboot mod by holding vol - when restarting the device then follow this quide :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/how-to/how-to-bring-phone-to-life-fastboot-t3561070
If your phone is showing only black screen or isnt booting at all you can try QFIL unbricking method
Disclaimer:
Nothing of this is my work all credits go to the developers i am just trying to make it easier for the developers and to try and answer noobier questions that are flooding the development threads. If you think some answers need further explanations or you have some more questions feel free to PM me.Enjoy roms and happy flashing

8.Q:How to change cache and data to f2fs
A:You need to have a recovery that supports f2fs thats burgexx and tingychan 3.0.3.0 and 3.0.2.0 twrp
Be ware all your data will be wiped!
Step 1: go to wipe format data type yes and wipe all

A: Go to this thread,https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/how-to/lenovo-a6010-plus-stock-rom-t3407963
find ROM for your device download it.Unpack zip transfer system.zip and yourregion.zip (yourregion.zip is optional and if you live in india its probably india.zip) and flash it in TWRP recovery.Go to wipe, swipe to factory reset then go to install and select system.zip ,swipe to install it then select yourregion.zip and swipe again, reboot. If you are having problems with TWRP flash stock recovery via fastboot or flashify etc..

WiFi does not connect

After installing RR, restore the original firmware of Xiaomi Mi A1, the problem is that no longer stable wifi connection, find networks but do not connect, try everything and there is no way to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
There is someone who has happened to him this before.

Please share the procedure, how to flash persist.img
Well, just find persist.img in the stock file like C:\Users\memo\Desktop\tissot_images_V9.5.9.0.ODHMIFA_8.0\images
then turn off your phone and enter into fastboot mode (down volume + power)
connect the phone to pc
the search for cmd
write : fastboot devices and if it shows number it means that is connect
then write: fastboot oem unlock (to unlock bootloader)
fastboot flash persist and grab the file and push it to the cmd
it should be end like this: C:\Users\memo>fastboot flash persist C:\Users\memo\Desktop\tissot_images_V9.5.9.0.ODHMIFA_8.0\images\persist.img

Le pro 3 x720 brick?

Hi, since yesterday I have a big problem with my le pro 3, while charging the phone suddenly turned off. The system did not want to turn on, so I went into recovery (TWRP) and tried to format and upload a new rom, unfortunately during the flashing, a blue screen appeared. When changing the kernel, the flashing of the rom was done, but with the installation of the gapps it hung. I tried to install another rom, but it also spilled, with this addition, that I can not enter recovery, because artifacts appear or reboots.. Only fastboot works. With it, I tried to flash the kernel, recovery, but it did not do anything. I also used (TOOL ALL in ONE) and uploaded the stock rom, but the phone still does not work. Do you know what else could help, or is buying a new phone? Thanks for help
If you can use fast boot, your phone is not hard bricked. A brick is when you can not do anything , you will have a black screen and a red blinking light if a usb cable is connected.
Try pushing Twrp ( newest version) to the phone. If that is successful boot to recovery, fully wipe your phone, reboot to recovery and install you Rom> Gapps, and Magisk. I would suggest initially flashing Lineage 15.1. Once your phone is restored, flash whatever you would like.
If it doesn't work try another cable, or another port, or another computer. Computer needs to be up to date and you may need to temporarily disable antivirus, if the All in One tool isn't working its likely that your computer is blocking the install. especially if you are using Windows 10. All the program to be open within your firewall settings. Make sure its up to date and use AIO to update android drivers and adb.

Okay sure, I provided you with a link to the correct files to use. I.E Flash 2.0 and le_zl1_qfil_ufs_fix.zip
Twice you have mentioned that you are using flash One, when you should be using flash 2.0
What Pin code?
Your pin error sounds like you are either using the old Qfil ( its corrupted, and never worked for anyone. ) Or the technician repair rom did not complete. There will be a log file on the PC from Flash 2, not the phone, is port 9008 open in device manager?
There should be no pin code, if qfil was installed, all of your data would be wiped, did you encrypt the phone with 3rd party software?
Are also using the wrong version of Qfil?
Review these additional steps

I am using flashone 2.0 and flashing from your link, the file "le_zl1_qfil_ufs_fix.zip". Port 9008 is open. After three flash in 2.0 flash, I could enter recovery, but when flashing custom rom, a blue screen appeared.
Not enough information, did you follow all of the steps? You can't just flash a Rom after unbricking.
To be clear
You restored the phone, booted into the system, turned on developer options, checked oem unlocking, booted into recovery, and did a factory reset to repair the storage as outlined in my instructions link?
Then booted into the system again, turned on developer options, checked oem unlocking, checked that storage is accurate?
From this point you start over, if your storage issue isn't fixed you will get a blue screen.
After you have perform those steps you should be able to use the all in one tool to check that the bootloader is unlocked, install the latest TWRP, compatible Rom, Gapps and latest magisk.
If you still have issues after all of that. No doubt, its hardware related. It could be one part or several parts. Time to buy a new phone.

If you still have issues after all of that. No doubt, its hardware related. It could be one part or several parts. Time to buy a new phone.

Once we managed to load the system, which hung up after 3 seconds and the whole situation started again. Failed to reload the system or enter recovery. I did all the steps in turn. After the system startup I did not even manage to enter the settings, because it has already hung up and restarted.

That sucks!
Its either that the partitions are inaccurate or you have hardware problems.
If its partitions, its not something that I have experience with. However, I did find this link; which has instructions for resolving partition issues using the MiniTool Partition Wizard and HDD Raw Copy Tool. https://www.leakite.com/2016/06/revised-how-to-unbrick-qualcomm-android.html

They should download automatically, if you follow the instructions on those previous Links . The instructions should show which folders the files are located in.
Luckily, I saved these files the last time I de-bricked someones phone.
Here is the link to my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mjvi_FR4Xh9QfSg6imMLduQ6p3zP2e_u
See the Thanks button: Click it, send cash or both.

Can't install MIUI by fastboot

Hello, I was trying to install MIUI 10 for some reasons, well I tried to install using miflash but when i was almost getting it, there was an error and now the phone is in infinite loop when starting, showing the redmi logo and the black screen, I can access the fastboot but using it in miflash I can't anymore recognize in the software, I use windows 10 and when i click refresh on the miflash, it is as if the device had been disconnected from the computer.
I also tried to use the linux tool, using linux mint 19 but in all the ROMs I tried, the error "missmatching image and device" appeared every time :crying:
How long is th folder name? Right rom?
Do you have unlocked or locked bootloader ?? Get your stock rom ,fastboot rom, chose the right rom, unzip , open the unzipped file of the ROM ,copy all the files in there and past them in the file of Xiaomi drivers , than put your phone in fastboot mode and connect it with USB cable, double click on the " flash_all ", done. If the process will not run immediately, wipe all data and try again !!!

The name of the rom you say? Something like "lavender_global_images_V10.3.10.0.PFGMIXM_20190816.0000.00_9.0_global_8cf943bb70"
It's locked bootloader again? So you need to bring it to a service or have to open the back panel and try flash in EDL mode.

Then make it shorter like e:/rom(all files inside.)
Sorry german user
Hello, sorry for the delay, I managed to install MIUI, I found that the version of my phone is Chinese, after trying so much I finally did, however when accessing the system, my wifi or sim reader do not work, so I can't even log in with my mi account. I do not know why
I still don't have the bootloader
Make a factory reset, but are you sure that the bootloader is locked ?? Because SIM cards usually have this problem if you have another rom from different region.

I already tried doing factory reset, but the problem persists. Yes, my bootloader is locked, I'm flashing through edl, and only china rom works, the global one appears that "this miui version can't be installed on this device" and goes into bootloop

Your phone is only for chinese market. So if you want to use global rom, you must install china rom first, then unlock bootloader again (wait few days) and then install global rom (with unlock bootloader).

I don't know, the Chinese rom was the only one I was able to install without this recovery error, but when it starts I can't use the wifi and SIM
I think it have a hardware issue.

I have the same problem, it would be too much hardware coincidence. To fix the problem you need .qcn and qspt but I'm having problems with that.

Switch from Lineage to ArrowOS

LineageOS stopped support for the Redmi 3s. Can I now easialy upgrade to ArrowOS? So just install ArrowOS. I googled a lot but can't find a solution for this. I'm inexperienced in this. But I know with my router I had to go back to stock firmware first before I could use another alternative firmware. And was wondering if this is the same with the phone or I can just install ArrowOS conform there manual.
My Redmi 3S serves me still well. I only call and use some apps. So I don't want to buy a new phone yet. Why waist something that works perfectly well?
Hi,
You don't need to switch back to stock firmware just make sure you have a custom recovery like Twrp,Redwolf,Orangefox, etc. If you don't even have than just install a custom recovery and you are good to go just put the ROM file and Gapps file (optional) in your phone's internal storage and follow the following steps.
1.Boot into recovery mode.
2.Wipe Dalvik,cache,system and data.
3.if it shows error then just Format Data once in the recovery mode only.
4.Go to Install section click on ROM zip file and swipe to flash.
5.After installation go back to install section and click on Gapps zip file and swipe to flash.(optional)
6.Now Tap Reboot System.
7.Congeatulations,you have successfully installed the custom ROM on your device.
If you have any queries ask and I will try my best to solve them.
Thanks.

Thanks, that's correct. and I already did that. I took the risk. ArrowOS has a zip with gapp included so just install one file. I was fairly easy.
I must say I'm very happy with it. So anyone searching for a alternative for the Redmi 3S could use it. It's very good as far as I can see and it runs well and smooth. Happy that I can extend the life of my phone for a couple of months, maybe even more.
Your welcome
Can you let me know how is it? Are there any bugs? How is the performance and battery life is it all good. And should i try it out or not. pls also mention the pros and cons acoording to u with download link.

Hi,
You have the vanilla build and the gapps build. I used gapps build (with apps).
ArrowOS - Downloads
It's as fast as the lineageOS I had and looks more appealing. Android 11.
The battery life is awesome. I have more than 3 days battery life. I use the phone mainly for calling, duh, and some social media, banking etc. So I'm not hooked on my phone and watch for hours. My Redmi 3s is 5 years old.
The install was easy and the updates also. Runs very smoothly. Only issue I have sometimes is that the camera has a hikup if I need it for an app that scans QR/barcodes codes or something. Than it hangs, I have to push the back button and then try it again and than it works. Normal camera for photo's/video works fine.
For the rest I have no issues and it runs smooth and reliable. Using it for a couple of weeks now.
So the pro's are that it works very good, good battery life and it's still maintained. I have an update every week or so. LineageOS is out of life for the Redmi 3s (that's why I switched).
I really don't have cons only the small camera issue I mentioned sometimes.
Hope it is of some help for you.
Thanks

I use a cable and charger from Aliexpress. But I know some cables can have issues. Also with installing ArrowOS I had to find the right cable because it did not connect well with my pc. Luckely I have dozens of usb-cables around
