I'm not responsable for you bricking your phone, so flash at your own risk. In my moto g 2014 XT1068 worked fine.

Hello, thanks for the work, however, unfortunately I don't know if it's just me, but I received a TWRP ERROR 7 when trying to install the ROM.
However, this encouraged me to do my own compilation, I hope you don't mind, I will provide the link to my compilation here (if you care, just contact me), in case someone receives the same error as me with your zip. I will also create a topic, as the Moto g 2nd gen has been my default device until today, so I will update it for a while (unofficially).

[STOCK FIRMWARE] Moto G 2nd gen (UK, "XT1068") *proper* SIM free firmware !GENUINE!
I looked EVERYWHERE for a stock firmware for the UK, SIM free firmware for the Moto G 2nd generation... until last night, when some kind person on Motorola forums sent me this link:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/5uv51ahospp/RETGBALL_XT1068_4.4.4_KXB21.85-23_cid7_CFC.xml.zip
Filename: "RETGBALL_XT1068_4.4.4_KXB21.85-23_cid7_CFC.xml.zip"
MD5 sum: 81fc167157361e0620020b673beff9e4
Variant: XT1068, UK dual-SIM SIM free Moto G 2nd generation (RETGBALL = Retail GB, ALL)
Click the attached photo of my Moto G box - if the box matches yours (obviously IMEI etc have been deleted from the picture) then you have the right version.
Product barcode (8GB variant): 6947681519350 (Google it to verify - I have)
Model code: SM3926AE7B1
To flash, extract the linked ZIP, drop the (attached) "flashall.bat" batch file and "mfastboot.exe" (also attached) into the extracted folder, put your Moto G into "bootloader" mode, and then open the folder, shift-right-click and "Open command window here" (Windows) then run "flashall.bat" to reset to stock UK dual SIM XT1068 firmware.

I mean proper as in proper; the real deal - what else would it mean?
If you flashed dsd and still had retgb after doing so, your flash didn't work properly.

The thread is appropriately and accurately entitled, since the firmware linked to is the proper UK firmware, as it came pre-installed on THE ENGLISH XT1068. Since I do not work for Motorola, I am unable to affect the fact that the firmware is a step or two older in the build cycle than the USA/other versions, but the firmware is appropriate and correct for UK customer and owners of the UK Model Moto G (2nd gen) XT1068, DUAL SIM, GB RETAIL.
There's only so many ways one can explain the word "correct" - the firmware is fully functional and fit for purpose. It is entirely the correct version, and the only one I know of for the UK handsets, thus far.
OEMs don't arbitrarily decide to generate a region-specific firmware version just for the fun of it; there are various reasons (beyond the scope of this post) as to why they do it, and I am sure there are VERY good reasons to do so. What are they? I've no idea - and yes, I am sure other firmware will work perfectly well, but this IS the correct, UK firmware as detailed at length, above.
Hope that clarifies things

It's obviously for some reason(s). I don't find it weird at all; it's regionalisation, and there must be some region-specific functionality which differs between locales of sale, else they wouldn't do it for the sake of it - that would be extremely cost ineffective and inefficient.
Flashed last night. Works a treat, still have UK version reported on my phone and everything seems to be working. Now I should be able to receive OTA again once I replace a few modded system files. (Xposed installed and modified core.jar) :good: I had been looking for this firmware for sometime. This time I will not remove system apps or integrate updated system apps now that I know OTA will fail if the app version has changed.
Will we be able to get the Lollipop one once fully released for our device? (No OTA yet for me in UK).
Not sure that I will upgrade immediately as I use Xposed and that seems to not be compatible with lollipop

Stock Firmware Images 4g and 3g Variants

Stock Firmware Images [3g & 4g]
A cautionary advice. If you unlock your bootloader the warranty of all non eu devices are lost. Also to claim warranty of an unlocked EU device you'll need to live in the European Union. Also locking the bootloader won't give back the warranty. You will not need to unlock the bootloader to flash the factory images of your variant for your region. However to flash a firmware for different region, your bootloader needs to be unlocked.

Not sure how you're attempting to restore the files, but try using the MFastboot application instead of standard Fastboot. I have had problems using the standard Fastboot program. Sounds like the user partition is corrupted, I had a similar problem with my Moto X 2014, somtimes it just turns out to be that you went past a step with an error and didn't realize it. Spelling can be so finicky when stressed out!

[Petition] [Motorola] Release blank flash files for all Motorola devices

Hi guys,
I've found this petition in the g 2015 forum. This petition is going to be delivered to Motorola asking them to release the blank flash files for all Motorola devices. I request all of you guys to sign it as there are chance that it'll be helpful to you some day. I'd also like to thank @kawaii.beans for starting this petition. Hopefully Motorola does listen to us and releases the required files.
This is the link: https://www.change.org/p/motorola-p...&utm_content=nafta_copylink_message_1:control
Here is the quote from the original thread:

Hi ,
As we all know that there are a lot fo motorola devices which have got their gpt partition and bootloader corrupted due to some ota update , flashing , wrong flash etc, which reduced their device to a paper weight . Most of them(including me) were unable to reverse the corruption due to the lack of required files . It may take motorola simply 2-3 hours to release these files for almost all devices but they have chosen to stay silent and do nothing . It feels really bad to throw away your phone costing hundreds of dollars due to a minor corrpution which can be fixed easily by Motorola. Its time for us to speak , its time for us to ask for what we deserve . Motorola should listen to us !!
Sign this petition on Change.ORG with as many signs as possible so that we can get our devices back ! Please co-operate .
Maybe this havent happened to you yet but may be it will one day , we all need to come together and ask for what we deserve from Motorola. Sign the petition so that Motorola will hear our voices.:crying::crying:

This is taken from XT1506 Indian variant. I'm currently on AEX v4.6, but idk if that matters and for the same reason I've asked that in the x style thread. So if you want you can try, or wait for someone to reply back to my question. I was originally on the 5.1 firmware, so you need to flash this stock ROM:

If you have another XT1506, first install TWRP on it by unlocking the bootloader. Then boot into TWRP and open the Terminal in TWRP.
Then type:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/loader.img bs=1024 count=168960
This should generate a loader.img in Internal Storage. This loader.img can be written to a Class 10 Memory card and be further used to unbrick the device. Be sure that you're running the latest Android 5.1.1 update on OTUS.

Ok, i'll do this. I have an 32gb class 10 SD card, i think it will not have any trouble.
As for the 5.1.1 android update... this procedure will not work on previous versions of android, like 5.0.1 stock?

No. We need the latest update inorder for the Bootloader to flash. Most bricks are due to bootloader downgrade. You should update to the latest version of the moto E2 XT1506 update. If you know how to do it manually using the mfastboot and adb, https://firmware.center/firmware/Mo..._LPC23.13-56_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
That is the latest stock rom.

If you are able to get a loader.img successfully, please upload it to Google Drive.

Rooting XT1626 Moto G4 w/ nougat

Hi guys, I own a Moto G4 model XT1626, and I recently OTA updated to Android Nougat.
Looking forward to root my phone, I began searching here the threads mentioning rooting this device, but this is what I found:
13th July 2016
Notes on Nougat/Android 7... At this time this method of rooting does not work properly on the official Nougat ROM for this device, it causes WiFi issues and interface problems (settings crashes, etc) and with no complete factory image there is no work fix other than to restore your Nandroid backup to pre-root status. If you wish to play with this method and try it, your on your own, I will try to assist but as I stated earlier I do not own this device. To my knowledge as of this posting, there is no working root on stock Android 7 on this device.

And a more recently thread, from Dec 2017 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/how-to/guide-how-to-root-moto-g4-magisk-stock-t3725712
And now I read this: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/moto-g4-plus-nougat-root-disable-force-encrypt/
It says the nougat can be rooted with magisk or SuperSu, but there is no guide =(
The question is: There is or there is not a way to root my Moto G4 XT1626 dual sim with Nougat? I would like a guide or a follow-up about the most recent guide available and working for this model. I am really lost here.
Appreciate your help
nobody?
Sorry you received no answers. Hopefully you have succeeded already. I'm trying to root my G4 XT1625 running Nougat 7.0 .
Found these posts:
1. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-root-moto-g4-plus-supersu-android-t3587918
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...om-npjs25-93-14-4-deodexed-debloated-t3587180
The first doesn't mention it will work for the G4, only explicitly mentions G4 (Plus). The second seems to imply it will work for both the G4 and G4 (Plus) but the build number it gives is NPJS25.93-14-13.
