My wife has a Motorola Xoom I'm sure its a Z604 Build is JZ054K 4.1.2. Could some please refer a video with the A to Z on the steps how to upgrade to the best upgrade available now. Im kinda new to the rooting thing and don't wanna screw it up....PLEASE PLEASE
I keep coming back to this myself. My Girlfriend has one and still wants to use it. If I find it I'll reply back.
After looking around a little my plan was to mod it to kitkat, or the 4.4 +/- build. Looks like it was tweaked over time , where as the 6. something mod looks to still have issues and development dropped before polished. Not sure though. Further looking to slightly overclock it. Not much but a little bit. If anyone out there has Tips or a guide to help the two of us. it'd be greatly appreciated.

I would like to start a table to keep all of the active roms in development organized, I'm having a hard time keeping track of them.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Incredible/ROMs
I started it with Skyraider since I am currently running that. If anyone else can edit onto this I think it might be useful.
Here's a list of some http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739428
Thanks, I will try and compile a list tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully people can help fill in the details I can't find.
nice
very nice, lets keep that going!!!!
Ok I updated it a good amount, i will try to populate more of it tomorrow but I would really appreciate if any of you get a chance to fill in some information especially the version numbers if you are running the roms.
I am personally still running stock 2.1 rooted w/ hydra kernel so I wouldn't be too much help in gaining info on latest running roms, however http://incredibleroms.com/roms/ has a list of roms that is fairly updated and includes some info. I would rip info right from the site, but I don't know how happy they'd be about it or how accurate it'd necessarily be (just a good place to find inc rom info). jdfroyo is not on the list for a reason (the account that user was using is currently banned on these forums... there are some trust issues at stake).
goood stuffff!!!!
Can someone move this to the front page? This was VERY helpful to me and I still like checking for anything new from time to time.
I personally am using one from Adrynalyne and I love it. It strips a lot of Sense stuff so I get much better battery life from it. I also have the stock OTA leak from late July so I need to redo that one to the one from August.
Something I installed and I think it was Adrynalyne's ROM changed my Hboot and until it I could unroot now I can't but no big deal for now.
I would like to edit the Wiki to include it but I don't know if he has posted it here and I don't know if he would appreciate me including it there. If I get a wild hair I might message him and see if he would mind if it is ok to update it with a ROM from a member here that may or may not have posted the ROM here. Wow this may get to complicated for me to mess with actually.
Hi everyone,
I am about to buy a used Nexus One. I tried looking for a new one but they are nowhere to be found. I need the one that has the 850/1900 3G bands. I know the Nexus One is an old phone, but I like the size of it and it's still a powerful device. I have a few questions. I checked out a couple of used Nexus One and both of them had issues with the back return key and the home key. The guy that I'm going to meet next week assured me that everything is working fine on his device. He had it for 1.5 yr and took care of it. I have read the issues with the power button. What else should I test the unit for? Also, how can I tell that I am buying the right Nexus One for Rogers Wireless in Canada? I read somewhere that on the back battery door if it says "PB99110" this is the 850/1900. Is that correct?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Happy New Year everyone!!!
I'm assuming Rogers uses a GSM network, and if so you would already be a Rogers customer correct? You could put your sim card into the phone, boot it up and verify that you are receiving 3G and that the phone calls out correctly and receives calls correctly.
Also, you can go to Settings> About Phone> Status and see information on the phone and network. You might find some of the information you're looking for there. If you're looking specifically for 3G you would see something related to UMTS or HSPA.
Hope you figure it out, good luck.
Yes Rogers is a GSM provider. Rogers has the same bands as AT&T. So I'm assuming as long as I see 3G data on the device, it does have the correct 3G bands. Is there anything else I need to look or check for on the Google One before buying?

I would turn it off and on making sure you don't see anything odd on the boot up and check the volume buttons. If he's selling the desk dock with it drop it in the dock and make sure it charges. Also check all of the soft buttons at the bottom of the phone. They're touch sensitive and you don't want to get home and realize the home button doesn't work at all.
Besides that I don't know what else to look for. Maybe try opening web pages, a you tube video, check for audio, etc. You might also want to double check which version of Android it's running so you know if it's stock or if it's a modified ROM.
Also, I have a AT&T Nexus One so I looked for the number you listed. I pulled off the battery door and behind the battery in the top left corner was PB99110 which you mentioned in your first post. It should be written in gray lettering on the black portion below the barcodes. Looks like if you see those numbers you should be good to go on Rogers.
"sola fide" thanks for your help. Good advice on turning the phone off and on. It does come with a charging dock but we're nowhere near a location that has a power supply so I can't test that out. I will do my usual checks when I buy a used phone, test the browser, music player to make sure the speakers are working fine, make a test call, etc. Now that I know there are issues with the power button ad soft keys, I'll test those out more. He said he never modded the phone so I'm assuming if I see 2.1 Eclair on the device, it's the stock rom.
Thanks for confirming PB99110 is the correct model for Rogers & AT&T.
Modding =/= Updating. It could be running froyo or gingerbread

The N1 got over the air updates up to Android 2.3.6 and I believe it is version GRK39. If you are running that, it should be the latest officially supported version.

Thanks for confirming that. I did end up getting the N1 and it is running 2.3.6. I want to root it to CyanogenMod but I don't feel comfortable doing it by myself. I'll wait when my brother pops by and get him to help me out. I never rooted an Android before so that's why.

It is actually pretty simple to get up and running (the hardest being getting the Android SDK set up on your computer). You can check out the instructions yourself here...
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
I would recommend following the Amon_RA steps, as it is a little less confusing.

Thanks for the link and the advice. I still feel more comfortable with my brother's help. Once it's done, then I might feel more confident in rooting my HTC Amaze, if there are roms for that phone. I haven't looked into that yet.
I'm having problems Installing a Custom Recovery Image. Could someone please help me?
Thanks
Please omit my previous post. I successfully rooted my phone to CM7! This is the first time I ever rooted a phone. Loving it so far!!!
You should try the MIUI rom, I have the latest one and its great in every aspect, otherwise, if you like a more 'clean' look try the Oxygen rom.

Miui is like having a iPhone with Widgets of android. Its little simpler. But since you been using android, u will like cm7. Its faster and smoother with more options. Cm has all the goodies. U will enjoy it more. If not stock I will not use any other rom then CyanogenMod.

Try it I used for a long time CM, now I'm in love with MIUI, Maybe i switch back on a CM6 build to test the 720p recording..

If Miui is like having an iPhone with widgets of Anrdoid then I'm not gonna like that. I have the iPhone4 (which is up for sale, lol) and I find it boring. So far I'm really liking CM7. One thing I did notice after I rooted the phone is my speakers distorts sometimes when I play music. Is this a known issue?

I don't play alot of music on my speaker. I use the headphones. I am not real picky with sound and stuff. As long as it works. But distortion is not good though. You will love CM7 and more to come.
Oh yeah I also had iPhone4s. I buy iPhones so I can sell it and profit from it. I have a reserve for my next tech gadget. LOL.

I think it was me who caused the distortion. I was messing around with the phone equalizers and enabled bass boost and also had the equalizer set on bass booster. I just changed a few settings and it sounds better. I'm hoping it was my mess up and not the speakers. I really like CM7 and I'm sure I'll come to love it.
And what is your next tech gadget?
I think I got hosed. When I was asking the seller if everything was working fine on the N1 he assured me everything is working perfectly fine, even the soft keys. I tested out the phone thoroughly before buying. Everything seemed to me working fine when I was testing it out. But you can't really tell if a certain function will continue to work as I continue to use the phone. Now I'm having problems with the back soft key. I have to hit it a few times before it responds. I tried hitting it harder or at different angles and it doesn't make a difference. Any suggestions? Am I screwed?
Hey guys and gals of XDA, I'm new. My name is Brandon, I have an LG G2. And I have some problems. My first problem is I have a D803. (canadian)
I will tell you guys in short what I want and would appreciate it GREATLY if ya'll could help me out.
1 ) Acquire noob guide to CustomROMing, recovering, and all that gibber gabber. I rooted my phone because it was extremely easy and debloated it using Titanium backup already. I literally have NO idea what i'm doing, I've tried to read through guides but I always get stumped considering i'm using a d803 and the backup program thing didn't recognize my phone.I'm not asking ya'll to sit here and pour all your knowledge to me, just a link would be cool. Although if someone wants to do that it'd be appreciated.
2 ) I want a Nexus5. But I want my G2, physically. lol. long story short I love the stock google feel of a nexus5, I've tried launchers but I can't find any ones that have transparent bars. So, instead i've stolen the nexus background and emulated the look as much as I can. I'm having a hard time finding any support for the d803 that has the Nexus 5 look , Hoping ya'll can help me on that. I found a Paranoid Android one but I don't know how to actually get it onto my device so I gave up.
3 ) More of a question; If I succeed in custom rom'ing my phone, do I lose all 'normal' G2 functions? As in Quickmemo, Slide aside, Knock on, etc? Quickmemo is extremely important for me as a tech salesman being able to write down SKUs real quick and not all over my hands is awesome. But I would be willing to part with it. Knockon, not so much.
More info that may or may not be relevant:
>D803
>Debloated using titanium backup
>Rooted
>32gb black
>access to a computer
So, in closing, I guess i'll sum this post up in a word. Sorry. I seen the intro video to XDA and about how im the devil if I ask a question that's been asked before, and I know this probably has. But it doesn't have the info i'm looking for. Anyone who can just throw me some links in one consolidated place so I have a set starting point, information and a goal, gets a gold star from me.
Thank you for listening to me. Appreciate any and all help in advance.
-Brandon
basically u just want the best of both world which currently non existant

^^ I've noticed the 4.4 roms are advancing at a nice pace for the G2, give it some time.. I tried some of the earlier 4.4 builds that I couldn't deal with the instability, but I've been running one of the later ones for the last week with very very few issues, so the best of both worlds is hopefully, rapidly approaching.
Alright you guys.
I know the basics:
-Don't ask for ETAs.
-Search first.
-Do it myself.
-Shut my mouth.
Yeah yeah. I get it all. And I've ran through these steps patiently. I'm sure this has even been asked before, but I can't seem to find that post!
My question is, is anyone working on a Verizon Note 3 bootloader unlock? With Android L coming out soon, it'd be cool to see if someone ports it over, or even if I can use a T-Mobile rom or something like that. (I don't know how that goes and I don't really know how to flash and junk on this device because... Well, you can't flash ****!) But if there is someone working on this, and dear Jesus let there be, is there a post where I can follow progress and watch them work and discuss? I couldn't find anything under development. After waiting a few months with this phone and not having the development edition, I'm very sad and disappointed. Is there any way to make my retail version unlocked? I'm getting sad guys. Please help me. If someone were to unlock the bootloader, I'd like to be following, show them some praise and buy them a few cases of beer. I really would. I appreciate all the devs here and you guys mean a lot to all of us!
I tried Baja rom , which was VERY nice, (was that beanstown's rom?) very nicely done, just wasn't for me. Liked it a lot and could see the effort. Got hyper drive right now, but I decided to turn safestrap off and run stock for a while. I chose to stay on 4.3 just in case something opened up, but I think I'm just going to flash the deodexed 4.4. I'd rather just unlock my bootloader and try to cram in cyano, or any old aosp rom.
To be honest, I don't know if there is a cyanogen or any AOSP based rooms for our phone because I never bothered to look! By the time I start looking, I start crying. Don't get me wrong, I love TouchWiz! I love all its features, but sometimes ya boi likes to brick his phone.
Someone help me out. I hope you devs don't see this as disrespectful. Have a good Tuesday you guys.
Suns out, guns out.
The original page has been taken down - and I have now in my hands a Note 2 - and I really want to have slimkat on it yet the only thing I can find is an old version of it.
The website is gone and I wanted to hear if anyone had it.
Thanks
please delete my post. not relevant. help is apparently not needed. thank you.
YOisuPU Sorry, mate. I had used so much time and ended up giving up on it all, which was very stupid as I was maybe very close to the goal. But had just used so much time on this and ended up folding up.
All that time wasted to get it up and running and then I could not even get the newest version to try out.
Thanks for the reply. Sad I did not respond to it and give what may have been the last effort to get it completed.
And now all that work and know how is lost, I used so much time on this - and just gave up on it. Very sad. Now I'm back again wasting time on a V20, which I'm looking into if I can root or not. But it is so tiering to need to relearn and regather information and trying things out.
I still have the Note 2, if you have the latest version of Slimkat 4.4.4, I might give it a try. To bad there are so many broken links and such in this field. Lots of wasted time figuring things out and finding the things you need and trying them out.
Please if anyone have that old Rom laying around, I would like to have it and try it out on my Note 2.
I gave up last time, but I'm here again rooting and fixing around with Android.
Just got my new used V20 Rooted What a mess overall, but after 4-5 days it succeeded!
I would like to try to get that Slimkat on my Note 2 and see if it indeed was the mark for getting it up and running without issues.
So if anyone have the last version of Slimkat, which if I recall was 4.4.4 please post a link or something!
SlimKat - T0lte-[Build 8] I think it is 4.4.4
