Hello All,
The micro USB port of my phone is a Motorola G4 Play (Harpia) has stopped working for a long time — no data transfer of any sort, no OTG, no ADB, no File-Transfer, nothing; only charging works. I thought it was the port to PCB soldering, so I re-soldered it. Didn't work. I changed the Charging PCB ("Charging Connector Flex Cable"), twice. Neither worked. Now, my LCD is broken, so it is unusable beyond being a wireless hotspot or for receiving calls. I'm in a dilemma whether I should replace it (₹1000+ for spares) or give up & move to a 2G Basic Phone.
Can anyone help me figure out why the USB data transfer is not happening in my device? I'd really love to repair it.
Thank You.
Note: It is not a driver issue as I use Linux & lsusb doesn't show the device. It is not a ROM issue either since the same happens in TWRP and across the ROMs I've flashed.

Hey all I just need some help with a hardware malfunction. So, I searched the forums but could not find anything about USB failure on the G1s. I can charge my battery through the USB connected to the computer/wall charger, but no USB connections notification occurs. Also, I tried going through the recovery and enabling USB-MS with no such luck. Has anyone else ran into this problem, or found any solutions?
Have you tried to mount through USB using a different machine? I've got one machine at my house that is hit and miss with my G1, but my laptop connects perfectly every time. The machine that is flakey will work fine with some devices, won't work at all with others and then with my G1 works about half the time.
Yeah, I can connect my other G1 and my MT3G to both my laptop and computer on all of the USB ports, but this G1 isn't recognized in anyway. I found that if I hold the casing near the USB port on my G1 I get some sort of recognition. Could it be a hardware thing? The casing is cracked, but I didn't have any problems before when I bought it off Craig's List. It worked fine up until a few days ago when it randomly quit.
Actually, I am positive that it is a hardware problem because if I press hard enough on the bottom of the phone. I will look for the tool to open the back a little later to post my findings
Hello All,
I have enjoyed reading other threads to find out more about my HTC 3333.
I have had my Touch 2 for a couple of months now, however lately, and quite frequently, I receive this annoying message 'the device doesnt support the USB headset. Please remove it.' There is nothing attached to the USP port, yet this message appears. I have used the USB port for synching with my laptop and have used the factory supplied cable as well as a standard mini USB cable.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Your valued opinions and advice would be appreciated
I have never seen this on my phone. It could be rom bug, or on the other hand it could be from a program you recently installed.
I thought a busted rom might be the problem so uploaded the latest rom from the HTC site. After installing the latest rom from HTC all the programmes and files on the phone were wiped but the message keeps appearing... I figure now I might have done some physical damage to the USB port.. I am not looking forward to sending my phone to HTC care for repair..
Even my HTC got the same issue. I think, as we had given with 3.5mm port the USB headset has disable.
Have you noticed any other mobile working with USB ? I dont think so ......
I found on another thread, another HTC user had a similar problem. The solution they said was to clean out the USB port because it had filled up with lint and other junk from their pocket. I just cleaned it as best I could with a soft bristled brush and will wait and see if that has helped reduce frequency of the warning sign popping up! It's a minor problem but it's enough to drive you mad! :
If this doesnt help, then for sure its a USB problem. You might wanna send it to repair service or use only bluetooth.
I have a brand new phone, which also gives this message. I did assume it was due to the presence of the 3.5mm port.
I had same problem a couple months ago. You should give the phone your technical service because there is a problem on your mainboard
I think the problem may only be with the USB cable you are using. I had this warning with one cable I bought in China, but not with the original cable. My original cable has just died so I pulled out the cable from china and the warning comes back.
Hi guys!
I've had a problem over the day with my beloved HD2, and I've started to fear that it might actually be the hardware starting to decay. About a day or two ago, when inserting my phone to the MicroUSB cable, it recognized the HD2 just fine, had access too USB mount, ADB and all of that. Transfered some music to the SD-card (Trancent 16gigs Class 4, btw - still very well recognized by the phone to the time at writing this), but now, some time later I get nothing out of connecting the phone to either my laptop or rig.
I know it's not the drivers or the cable, since I've tried with others cables and a few other computers. The message is the same old "The device could not be recognized". But the funny thing is, somehow the device must know that its connected to a computer anyway, 'cause it instantly enables debugging and the option to enable mount. I, as of now, has had no luck getting into the SD card, sadly. Not even been able to pull logcats or anything, setting up wireless ADB hasn't been sucessful either - so where I stand now, I'm kinda in need for a helping hand.
Has anyone else ever had this problem too, or am I left out in the cold?
By the way, even managed to put on an older nightly CM9 build, as it was stored on my SD. No luck there either. MAGLDR mount / recovery mount doesn't function either. Same error.
The ROM I first had the problem on was PARANOIDANDROID v0.6. Then a nightly CM9 from sometime last week. Both immensely close to stock and ICS based. LEO512, by the way.
Please, give me a hand!
TL;DR: USB broken, still charging, help.
Your usb is getting loose (usb data connection becomes irratic and then stops working, continued use results in USB port ripped from mainboard), try to not use it while plugged in and see if the repair shop can fix it for you without breaking usb data. You can use the SwiFTP app in playstore to transfer files in the mean time.
You may also want to use a cradle charger to minimize USB port being used.
Hello,
I don't know if there is still some people here but I expose my problem.
As I have a Desire HD for more than a year, I wanted to give my magic to my sister but I also wanted to flash a new rom because the old CM did her time on this phone.
The problem is that the wifi and the usb are broken as I can't even charge the battery simply by plugging the usb cable. And with no electricity, there will be no file transfer.
Also, il work on a computer with no sdcard slot.
So there are 2 possibilities :
- I download everything with 3G (this should work with apps, but not for a rom)
- Repair the usb chip on the cellphone, and if possible the wi-fi too.
The second is my favorite, but is anyone know where to start this manipulation ?
(I have some skills in electronic and soldering).
Thanks for future replies

i faced this issue yesterday when i change my battery to my mom cel (both zf5) because her cel battery is dead. anyway when i connect on pc nothing happens so i remember to look flat cable(or SIM cable) to move. i read long time ago that if you drop your phone maybe the cable move a little little bit and its enough to won't be reconized anymore by pc and maybe cause erros on SIM1. i open again and reconnect the cable on motherboard and southboard and it works again. check it or search for it or how you do it. i hope it helps. good lucky
Same issue otg and usb cable not working only charging.
Replace sim tray assembley
Hi, hope this will solve your problem.
I'm facing the same problem with my zenfone 5. and alredy replace second mother board in my phone(micro usb assambley) and the problem still exsisted.
I found a solution in a zentalk forum where there are many people face the same problem as ours, the phone refuse tu connect to mtp,ptp or any usb debugging wheater its abd fastboot or even usb on-the-go.
the solution was replacing the sim tray assambley, where the ribbon connect motherboard 1(main) to motheboard 2(micro usb assmbley).
It have worked for me, the only regret that I have was, I have buchered the new sim sim tray slots during replacemen(those thing are super fragile) but now my phone can conect to pc and recodnise usb OTG.
it may not worked for your phone but it worth a try of you are willing to spend some money to buy the sim tray assmbley.
here I will include a picture of my replaced parts. Parts makked with number 2 need replacement.
be very careful when replacing the sim tray they are super fragile.
creddit to zentalk user for pointing this problem.
sorry for my rubbish english.
