Is it possible to upgrade latest nvidia shield tv pro with a SSD?

only nvidia shield pro 2015/2017 models
shield tv pro 2019 nvidia model NO, nvidia shield tv pro 2015 and 2017 YES, BUT ----samsung 860 500gb ssd---- !!!!!!!!ONLY!!!!!!!!! (more capacity/different model ssd's will not work if you want them to work you have to start messing around with linux scripts etc.... quite complicated) just remove your hdd from shield and clone your removed hdd to new ssd then install new ssd in to shield 2015/2017 models

Newbie Questions

Hi Guys,
At this stage I have a PS4, a android TV box and a Chromecast.
I wish to buy the Nvidia Shield to replace all 3 devices so these are my doubts:
1. will I be able to use the Shield as a regular android tv box, to install apps from Playstore for example like Kodi, Strem.io, etc?
2. The price difference from 16GB to 500GB is considerable so I wonder if I will do fine with the 16GB version and in due course I could increase the storage? If yes, How can I increase it?
3. Are the graphics and gameplay the same, better or worst than the PS4?
Hoep you can help me.
Thank you in advance.

i have question about ram and hdd

hey guys i have got my acer nitro i5 2021 model with intel i5 11gen gtx 1650 and 8gb ram and i relized 512gb storage is not enough and i found my old dead acer notebook from years ago and it a 1tb hard drive in it i took the drive out of it but the hdd has windows 10 os on it and is it good idea to put a hard drive with a os on it in my laptop or should i get a hdd tool and format the hdd and with the ram if i upgrade my ram do i need to reset the pc to get the ram working???
Before u do that check the old HDD health first (u can use HD sentinel), if HDD health below 80% then better to leave it alone. And about the OS, formatting HDD is the best option in my opinion.

An 8 yr old gaming PC still going strong!

Way back in 2014 my son and I built this PC with parts we purchased locally in Mumbai.
The idea was to build a PC on which my son could play games.
This was and still is the configuration....
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Memory 16 GB DDR
Hard Disk: 1 TB
Monitor : 24 in Acer
Graphic Card : Asus nvidia GTX 750ti
Monitor Resolution 1920x1080 pixels
Cabinet : Circle Gaming Cabinet CC 821
SMPS: Corsair VS Series VS550 - 550 Watt SMPS
Keyboard: RedGear
After my son moved on to a PC with better specs, I got my hands on it and have been using this device for the last 3 years. My use has been restricted to Office work. The only high performance task I do is the occasional building of a custom ROM. That required the 16 GB of RAM. It also takes about 3-4 hours. Off late have stopped building ROM's and stick to browse, email, chat all office related stuff. Occasionally use GIMP to edit photos for social media posts. That justifies the RAM.
Have added the following two hardware components.
Audio : Use bOAT Aavante Bar 1130 60 W 2.0 channel soundbar connected to the speaker socket
Printer: HP DeskJet 2332
The OS for the past 4 years has been Ubuntu and the current version running is 20.04.4 LTS...waiting for the 22.04 LTS to be released.
With the old proverb 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' at the back of my mind, thinking of upgrading the PC before it collapses and leaves me stranded.... Looking for some tips on this forum.
I wouldn't bother upgrading it, save perhaps for installing a SATA SSD drive if your 1TB drive is the traditional kind, or better yet a PCI-E M.2 drive adapter if you have a spare PCI slot.
I'd maybe re-apply thermal paste to the CPU and give the heatsink and filters a good clean but otherwise it just isn't worth the bother.
If you are going from traditional HDD to an SSD you will appreciate the boost.
for a few bucks you can get a win 7 pro license and use it to install windows 10. A sata SSD would be a nice addition. Nvme might not work without some bios modding to add nvme driver to it.

Linux On Nvidia Shield TV PRO

I’m trying to get Linux on my Nvidia Shield but I understand it’s running on mobile CPUs, I am wanting to have PC CPUs installed so that I am able to play Steam, Blizard and Rockstar games. Will offer the necessary funds for completion.

*Insert generic title*

My current setup for building custom roms is:
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
Crucial Ballistix Sport 4x8Gb [email protected] OC
Asus NVidia GTX 1070 Strix
Asrock x370 Pro4
WD blue 4tb sata ssd (probably dead/dying due to buildbotting)
Be Quiet Pure Base silver
Be Quiet Straight Power 10 500W
MSI UWQHD Monitor, 100hz
Roccat Cone XTD
Cooler Master keyboard rubberdome
OS:
Linux Mint 20.03, possibly corrupted atm
Live USB Stick can access data, else it fails the fsck check while booting.
PS:
I want the xda achievement
