S20Ultra has this closeup function. But for the rest of S20+ what improcements the new *ATE6 firmware brought? not only to camera, but overall.
A slightly faster fingerprint(tho i did not notice anything),some report battery life improvements but i don't really trust that so ill need to test the phone and the option to remove the ugly ass ripple effect when you unlock with fingerprint. That's all i know maybe someone can add to or confirm what i have said.

just disable all animations in developer options to get rid of that ripple effect
Window animation scale/Transition animation scale/Animation duration scale are all off and yet the ripple effect is still there so no it does not work
only concerned with ULTRA CAMERA fix for my 1400.00 device.
To get rid of the ripple it's in
Settings - biometrics and security - biometric preferences, and then turn off the transition effect.

I don't think we are talking about the same ripple effect. I am referring to the ring around the fingerprint sensor when you unlock the phone with your finger. That is in Settings -> biometrics and security -> Fingerprints "Show animation when unlocking" this is new!
I can confirm better battery life. All day wifi playing games, insta, facebook etc.About 7 hours of sot.Beforr update i got barely 5 hours of sot.And yes i'm in 120HZ S20 Ultra exynos.

Anyone here came to the G4 from the s6 or s6 edge? I have the s6 edge but the battery life is a crazy turn off. The phone overall is wonderful but at the end, I need something that I don't have to charge 3 times a day. Thinking about picking up the h815 to use in cricket in the US (att mvno) but might hold til an update to 5.1.1 that fixes the battery life and multi tasking according to the tmobile 5.1.1 leak.
I had the s6 edge and sold it to get the G4 with T-Mobile.
The S6 edge was laggy and the battery was horrible.
I like the G4 much better.
How's the battery life? My edge isn't laggy really. Heavy lag I only see it on chrome when browsing pages with heavy ads. But system and other apps don't really lag. Even Facebook doesn't lag. Any other input would be greatly appreciated
I had gs6 and its a great phone .feels slippery .Got leather g4 and feels better in hand.speaker sounds a bit louder and better than gs6. Will let you know how's battery life later today
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
Interested in this as well. I read that battery life is neck and neck and I can only see it improving on the s6 with the cell reception fix with 5.1.
Other than that I really don't know what to choose and that exynos is looking really sexy compared to the snapdragon
I have the S6 Edge and G4 on Tmobile. Battery does seem to be neck and neck which isn't bad since the G4 has a bigger screen and bigger battery. The G4 does have SOME quick charging, just not as quick as the S6. 1 hour charge on s6, 1 hour 30 min on G4. The G4 does win out because it has a replaceable battery so I can go from 0 to 100 battery in about 15 seconds.
The camera on the G4 so far trounces the S6. I posted 25 comparison photos I took yesterday in a different thread. The S6 just doesn't come close. Mind you, I thought the S6 was the best camera on an android phone I ever used....until I got the G4. I do wish G4 would let you auto launch the camera from anywhere if you double press the vol down like the S6 has with the home button.
The S6 does get brighter than the G4. Specially noticeable when you're outside. The S6 has a special super brightness mode that it turns on when you're out in the sun. The S6 also has more video/camera modes than the G4. Such as the wide angle selfie, slo/fast motion video, photosphere, etc. I do find myself missing those on the G4 but I can always get 3d party camera apps to do that.
Performance wise, I really don't notice that much of a difference. I am running 5.1.1 on the S6 which removes the memory leak bug that was present so it isn't as laggy. If the phones aren't side to side then it's hard to tell that the S6 is faster than the G4. The G4 definitely doesn't feel laggy.

My problem wasn't this. On the s6 you can double tap the home button twice no matter where you are and it goes to camera. On the G4, you can only launch camera with volume button when the screen is off
How does the build quality on the G4 compare to the S6?
Does it have a better speaker than the S6 which I've never been that impressed by on the S6?

Try this app. I haven't tested it with the G4, but it works great with the S6 and other phones. I don't know if it supports double-tap for hardware keys, but it supports long press.

I prefer the LG G4, as the s6 screen is very poor. Whites are very warm. I prefer the cooler colours of the G4. The interface is better with the G4 too. The only problem I have with the LG G4 is the back covering, the leather feels very cheap. Too cheap. Its very rough and hard, not soft leather which I was expecting. The Build quality of the s6 is far superior. Well excluding the home button which feels cheap, even if it does have a finger print reader.
I haven't felt the plastic back cover of the G4. If its similar to the G3, its pretty good. Now I need to decide if I should go for the G4... Decisions!!
Here is the interesting thing. The S6 moved the speaker from the back to the bottom, and it was quite a bit louder. The G4 still has the speaker on the back but it is louder than the bottom speaker S6, to the point I have to keep my volume down being notifications are blistering loud. It's not as loud as front facing HTC M9, but it's louder than the S6
When will people understand the battery issues are related to Android 5.0 and not the phone itself.
The Nexus 6 when initially release had terrible battery battery life and it ran Android 5.0 but when 5.1 was released battery life drastically improve

Because we have lollipop 5.0 on multiple devices without bad battery life. I'm sure it has something to do with it..but with so many devices on 5.0 with good battery (lot of them being Samsung devices) I refuse to believe it's not at least somewhat Sammys fault.
They removed no bloat, only a few select features that I like. It's still loaded with crap. The s6 is nice, but I'm gonna try the g4.

I dispute that my S6 has far less junk software items on it than my S3 did.
So I compared my s6 to the best buy display g4. Granted my s6 is full of verizon crap and the g4 was not..but there was no immediate difference in the speed/smoothness category.
They both looked equally as bright..indoors. pleasant surprise as the G3 was really dim. The g4 has the ability to draw and annotate screen shots..the s6 does not, sadly. The g4 had whiter whites, but the s6 is a touch sharper.
Thr g4 still had the ability to change the color of the folders, but I couldn't look at the themes in LG home because the WiFi wasn't on..I imagine they still suck much like everything in the s6 theme store.
Overall, the g4 felt fantastic, I just wish thr keyboard was better. I've always preferred Stock keyboards, and my note 3 had the best one to date (for me)

Yes there is an option to stop the initial picture.
G4 is too big. If it was smaller maybe but the fact of the matter is that its a phablet.

Well my household has a M8, S5, G2, G3 and of course my S6 on 5.0 and all the battery life on our phone suck. And those other phones mention had good battery life before being updated
Guys i see quite much Note 7 ports for S7 edge, Can someone guide me as to which one is more preferred because of stability and battery life? i am confused
First thing to do is to see if you have a samsung sensor or a Sony sensor. If it's a samsung one, I highly think it's not great to update to Note 7 port cause the photos will be awfull.
You could see what sensor you have with AIDA or Phone Info !
Grace UX will be port in the next update
I have the impression renovate is the best one. But personally i still use s7 edge rom because i can wait few weeks because i read on sammobile the nougat update for our s7 edge will bring most software features from the note 7 like improved aod and grace ux.
offtopic: is the samsung camera sensor worse then the sony one? under normal conditions?
I flashed Renovate rom. And it looks awesome. Loving it!
I have a screenshot attached. Which sensor is that?

Samsung Sensor was only bad on S6, on S7E it looks stunning. Before buying my S7 Edge I was playing with other phones cameras and the S7E had best image quality. Even compared to Xperia cameras (which I kinda dislike for image processing(amount of pixels is visible but only when You zoom in)) or LG G5 which once again other than huge viewing angle had quite poor colour-less photos. And it's not true that N7 ports will give You a bad camera. I've been using N7 ports for a while and they take same quality pictures like stock roms from sammobile.

I haven't tried any of them but numerous people have said if you have a Samsung sensor the photos come out like potato. Not because the sensor is bad but because the required libs for the Samsung sensor haven't been ported over properly.

Well. On my phone pictures look really pretty.
(Tinypic compression slightly messed up the sharpness)
I’ll kick off by saying that I am genuinely not trolling and I really want to like the Samsung S10 plus, I have the ceramic one and it is the nicest in-hand phone and a joy to pick up, it also has a slightly wider screen that I prefer as the P30 Pro can feel slightly narrow and cramped in comparison and I appreciate the higher resolution even if I only really notice it on text if I look really hard.* OneUI is ok these days and it does have a lot of features that I like built in too and it has a headphone jack!
*
it is almost my perfect phone however, the thing is that I actually have a bit of love/hate relationship with it and I have come to think that the P30 Pro is maybe just a better all round phone even if it too has it’s annoyances, **YMMV but for me and here is why:
*
Bluetooth audio - The P30 pro fully supports higher quality Bluetooth audio, the S10 does not.* The S10 defaults to ‘Best Effort’ you can select the ‘Balanced’ 660 kbps setting but you have to do this via developer settings EVERY TIME as it resets back to best effort. The highest quality 990 kbps option whilst selectable is choppy and not useable at all though.* On the P30 Pro, the highest quality option is available, works well and the LDAC settings have actually been put into the normal settings too and stick.* Win win!
*
Camera - The P30 pro camera is significantly better than the S10 and the S10 plus camera is IMO very very disappointing, probably my biggest issue with the phone.* The smudged detail is there all the time although in good light you do have to pixel peep to see it but in medium to lower light the P30 pro just wipes the floor with it, no contest.* Also in medium to low light blurry images are common if there is even the slightest movement in the scene, looking at the exif the S10 always chooses a lower shutter speed than for the same scene, I am assuming this is to try keep the ISO as low as possible.* I think the main hardware is un-changed from the S9 and it shows, Samsung is just not as capable as Google with the computational stuff.** The camera on the P30 pro is just great and has the added cherry on the cake of the 5x zoom too.* Maybe Samsung will up it’s game with the S11/S20 but for me there is no doubt they have fallen behind by skimping on the hardware.
*
Battery – The P30 pro is just better. The S10 is ok but still has that signature Samsung standby drain, they just love draining power when sitting there doing nothing.
*
Signal (Mobile & WiFi)* -* The P30 pro has the better radio(s) by a large margin.* The S10 is terrible on both mobile and wifi and*in a tough coverage area (my current house) The P30 pro will be on circa -100db and perfectly useable, the S10 -119db or worse and struggling.
*
Ultimately the camera and audio quality are the biggies for me, but the radio issue is also a daily annoyance. *The P30 pro has it’s own issues, I wish it had a higher-res screen (although local dimming to avoid PWM is a bonus), EMUI is an acquired taste and one ui is slightly slicker but overall it is hard to argue that for my use at least it does the most important things better.
Interested in the thoughts of anybody else on here who has owned both.

Certainly Huawei do have very good camera's and maybe a few features.
However there's big issues with updates.
After owning a Mate20Pro for a while, carrier updates were very very slow, it took my carrier 5 months to push out the second update. Sure there is a few ways to manually update without bootloader unlock or root, but these are tediously annoying processes, in most cases meaning a complete wipe of the phone.
And then you have the future of updates being released at all if the Huawei/Trump Ban keeps going.
So I guess its a matter of do you want updated or outdated firmware?
Do you want the availability of Google Apps in the future?
For me the I prefer the thought of having latest bug fixes and security updates maybe a few extra improvements.
With Huawei its a game of Russian Roulette.

Totally agree, it's a guessing game with the latest Huawei devices. Their EMUI is improved but it's still buggy especially with regards to background apps. Additionally, even though there's plenty of concerns with what Google's doing with your data, those concerns are minor compared to Huawei. I don't want my data in China's hands. It's common knowledge the Chinese government is deeply involved with piracy and hacking worldwide and there are legitimate issues with Huawei's ability to keep it's/your data out of their reach. Yes, Huawei has stated on numerous occasions they never share data with the Chinese Government but I'm far from convinced.
The issue is only really with new models the P30 and previous have Google apps and get updates.
Honestly I prefer the S10 plus but where it matters (camera, radio and audio quality) the P30 is better.

For Now they do, until Huawei decide they can't be bothered. And theres also the problem with delayed updates.
Like Optus took 5 months after the release to push out the first update for the Mate 20Pro, i spoke with Optus and Huawei, both blamed each other for the delay, when really it was Huawei whom did not release the firmware to Optus.
Interesting you write this, as I upgraded to a S10+ but still use my mate pro 10 for camera work as it's better quality in my opinion, and the battery life on a 2 1/2 year phone is better than my S10+.
There are things that I am enjoying about this phone but it was certainly a shorter than expected honeymoon period with it

I know this is quite old but i dont think i have idle drain on s10+ exynos but i read many had it in the past. It must have been fixed before august 2020 when i bought the phone.
Its quite funny about the camera because i am usually annoyed that s10+ actually doesnt wanna go below 1/50 and increases ISO instead. For example in metro i end up with a shot 1/50 ISO 640 where as it could have been idk 1/20 ISO 200. So they never come out blurry for me because phone prefers fast shutter speed(though a bit soft cuz high ISO). You kinda made me apperciate faster shutter more now . I guess it was updated after you got rid of your phone?
Battery is pretty good imo. Its really good unless im gaming(dead by daylight, very heavy). Then its about 3-3.5hours which is fine i suppose.
About the smudged images.. That was one of the things i was scared most when buying this phone. But after using it for months, (even in the first days) smudge didnt bother me as much as i thought it would. Photos always look amazing overall, white balance, exposure, HDR does a good job. And detail is good enough as well. But side by side im sure p30 would be slightly more detailed. (Though p30 is 10MP so maybe they would be equal?)
When i was shopping for s10+ the biggest contender was p30 for me, it was 1/3 cheaper and 3x optical zoom but what put me off was the colors that came out from the sensors.. In anandtechs review p30 series had serious white balance/color issues and i was really put off by that. And the reason they said was the red blue yellow sensor which gathers more light but has trouble with colors since yellow isnt a main color. Maybe it might have been fixed by now? But i couldnt take the risk of whether it could or would be fixed since it does look like hardware limitation.
About wifi, i do have some wifi related problems, sometimes i have to restart apps for wifi to work for them.
And s10+ uses high gamma at minimum brightness which causes black clipping. It can be fixed for youtube app but if you play a dark game like dead by daylight at min brightness, you will have a lot of trouble on s10+.
Tbh i should have bought mi10 for myself haha. s10+ is a good phone for sure but like you said every phone has its advantages and disadvantages. And i apparently didnt know what i really should have been paying attention to. I was really focused on camera but to be real all flagships have great camera, i obsessed over it for no reason. Mi10 has way better performance and it has a gamma slider and its manual brightness is much higher. (I did a hdr bug on s10+ which allows screen to go much brighter but works only on android 10 so i cant update if i want to keep using it.. also s10+ dims when gaming after it heats up but think mi10 doesnt? Which would make gaming in front of a bright window better but at least 700 nits whenever i want is really good)
Okay i did go off topic a bit sorry. Anyways have a great day xD
Can anyone on here confirm that after the One UI 2.5 September update that the 120hz refresh rate option is no longer available? Using Activity launcher we were able to change it but now, regardless of the screen resolution setting, the 120hz option is grayed out for me. Anyone else?
I guess it was cool having that option, but it didn't do anything anyway
Why do you care about this? The S10+ screen is only 60Hz. 120Hz screens are more expensive and I don't think that Samsung put 120Hz screens in the S10+ without making that available.
Before, you could have that option to "activate" 120hz. But it wouldn't do anything (it could maybe do some harm). The S10+ is not cable of 120Hz (even if that is active):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/120-hz-refresh-rates-galaxy-s10-note-10-t4077139
It was never there to begin with. Would I have 100$ if I add one 0 on my 10$ banknote?
Oh jeez not this again.....
The option was for the S20, the S10 cannot do 120hz as everyone has stated. Samsung was just lazy and didn't remove it from the S10 builds until now apparently.
I want to trade my S10+ for OP 7 Pro.
The following reasons why I want to switch to Oneplus 7 pro are:
1. QHD 6.67" amoled all screen, vibrant big and bright all screen. Nearly as vibrant as Samsung's screen.
2. Camera best Oneplus have produced. Images sharp with good detail, really impressed. Obviously not as good as Samsung's but for me good enough. I'm not a massive picture taker or selfies person. 4k 60fps super stable.
3. Loud dual speakers, again this is top notch. Not as full or rich sound as S10 plus but it's darn close. Another surprise.
4. Triple SSS performance (coin that one) - Super smooth speedy performance. No strutting or freezing experienced as of yet.
5. Near stock firmware with a few Oneplus touches. Love it better then stock android a actually
6. Quick updates to latest Android software.
7. Pop up camera prefer it over the hole in the screen, use it unlock phone as it's a cool feature.
8. That damn 90Hz refresh rate, boy ow boy is it smooth. This has completely spoilt me, it's fluid.
9. Snapdragon cpu which is better than samsung's exynos.
Do you guys think is worth the switch or i should stick with S10?
I switched to the OP7T Pro for a while, here is my take :
1.OP has excellent screen
2.Installed GCam Arnova, amazing results
3. I prefer S10+ with Dolby Atmos, OP lacking bass
4. Triple SSS performance,YEP!
5. One Ui has so much more features, I'm a fan
6. No complaints there, updates are not a priority and S10+ will get android 11 and 12
7. Pop up camera is cool, punch hole is an eyesore
8. 90hz is amazing, that's what I miss the most but I'm ok with WQHD on S10+
9. Samsung's exynos is really well optimized now, I hope android 11 and 12 won't affect it.
I decided to stick with the S10+ for all the features Samsung offers, the list is infinite, great AOD, Dual Bluetooth, Onehand gesture...
OP7T Pro is a great phone, GCam mode is amazing and I miss 90hz screen.

Thanks for your opinion man, is very hard to choose because both got pros and cons.
I too will respond to each of your points and add my own at the end, my mom has a OP7Pro and I have a S10+, so I think I can give a pretty good viewpoint.
1. The color accuracy is amazing with DCIP-3 on OP, but the bigger screen makes it weigh more, so it is a little unwieldly at 6.67.
2. Comparing Google camera on OP to Samsung camera on s10+, s10+ has more detail, but colors are more accurate on OP. Low light and cameras other than the main one are way better on S10+
4. If you are a regular game player, then performance should be on the table but otherwise it is not noticeably different.
5. I am biased towards One UI, I had a pixel before it and I feel S10+ allows me to do much more with its syncing features with windows.
6. India version receives the latest security updates 3 days after pixel receive them, so I don't think this is an issue.
8 & 9 You've said it, can't argue here
I've left a few pointers because I don't have a view on them.
While the OP7pro looks flawless, I feel there are cost cutting measures, for eg., the top speaker grill and the sides of the screen collect much more dust than other phones.
Finally why I didn't go for a OP phone, It is owned by the same company that owns Oppo, OnePlus till now has been able to stave of influence from the chinese government. But given the recent news around the top management, I fear the worst.
Currently I would only go for either Samsung or iPhone (Not personally, it's something I would suggest). If you are in a one of the lucky areas, Sasmung has discounted S20+ to the price of S20FE. So that could be a great option too.
Even i am looking for a one plus 7 pro. The S10+ is superior in every way than the oneplus7pro except for the fact that it has a full screen display. However, no developments so far for the Snapdragon version of s10+ (bootloader unlocking ?). Even the s20 snapdragon edition is starting to get development.
Might be because in order to bootloader unlock a U.S. snapdragon S10, you have to pay for it. I could be wrong but it seems the lack of development is because only like 3 people have had theirs unlocked.
