Hi,
can something be done with scrolling in Youtube app? Wow, the last time i had such terrible scrolling stutters was probably back in the Note 4 days.
When i open the website in Chrome, it's buttery smooth. But the second i go to the app itself and start scrolling, this becomes a joke.
I'm running forced 120hz QHD, but same applies to FHD. I have tried it with the most recent version of Youtube and 14.21.54 - the results were the same. Vanced made no difference either.
Other apps are very smooth. Especially Instagram. When i start scrolling, i feel like i'm getting dizzy of that fluidity (and i'm coming from 7 PRO).

The YouTube app runs in 60hz ,that's why it's stuttering. I'm using the app Auto 90 to force 120 and it's totally smooth. Download the app Razer Cortex Games to get an FPS counter in the corner, I'd bet your running at 60hz. What I also think the problem is is that if your running at 120, motion interpolation doesn't kick in so I think OP have made YouTube run at 60 to implement the motion interpolation.

Wow, great tip, thanks!
I don't know about the app, but i have enabled the "force 120hz mode" using adb command "adb shell settings put global oneplus_ screen_refresh_rate 0".
FPS counter stays at 120 like it's engraved when i use Instagram, Chrome, Maps. Now when i open Youtube, Gmail, Outlook, Gallery, fps count starts jumping down to 78 when i start scrolling, which causes stuttering.
I have tried the same FPS counter on my "forced 90hz" OP7 and it stays dead even to 90 regardless of what i'm throwing at it. This is embarrassing
Just tried the Auto 90 app to see whether it makes difference - it didn't.

Did you do the auto 90 ADB commands? Youtube definitely runs at 120 for me using auto 90 and switching it to 90 in the auto 90 app.

It stays at 120. Maybe the original ADB commands you used override the auto 90 ADB commands?

Have you got on smooth motion? Turn it off
Well, that's great news that at least for someone it stays smooth. I guess that's workable then. @dladz, no i have never enabled it. It's off.
@Batfink33, i'd doubt that's the issue. You can disable adb command by simply picking one of the display refresh rates in the menu (https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro-true-90hz-display-mode/amp/), and that was what i've done before downloading Auto 90.
Also, i think the mode does work, because when in idle, Youtube does report 120fps. I have tried Brave Browser which is usually forced to 60hz, but whit this mode enabled it stays stable at 120fps.
I'm not rooted by the way. Just tried to clean cache in recovery, but that didn't solve it. Down bellow is my recording which displays what i'm talking about:

Ok apparently this is not Youtube's fault. I have factory reset my phone, installed everything back and checked Youtube - it was buttery smooth. Then i installed Youtube vanced (non root) and the stutters came back.
I'm wondering if rooting would help there. Is there anyone that could confirm that they are getting stable 120 when using rooted vanced?

Audio comes in fine, video is more like a slideshow.
Ah Paul, you were correct - I wasn't giving it a chance long enough. At first, it starts out incredibly irritating, then a few minutes (or seconds more likely) later it becomes normally viewable.

I can play things, but I can't seen to get it to fullscreen.
double tapping causes the video to pause.
trying a long press shows me the various little options on the right side and bottom, one of which is the 'fullscreen' button that I can't seem to click.
Other than that it plays, jumpy at first but it smooths out.

Yeah there's no full screen (as there was in Flash Lite), it just "zooms" in so that it fits the screen (though it doesn't always work).
Adobe also changed it so holding your finger on the screen = mouseover now, rather than a click right when you first touch down.
got it! thanks.. works pretty well for now... fullscreen would be nice

Yep, if you double tap the Hulu video, it will only "center" it on the screen.
The Full Screen button on the Hulu Player works but it is VERY difficult to hit.
But I've figured out a "strategy" (haha):
- Scroll down the page so the video is no longer showing, and zoom in three times via the +/- buttons.
- Then scroll back up so the bottom right corner of the video shows.
- Tap on the video to get "into" the flash (so finger presses are registered in the video player).
- Then tap and hold on the video for mouseover, click on the full screen button, and voilà! FULL SCREEN HULU!

To this:
Is there a way to save these settings for individual sites (like just hulu)? or is this across the board for all sites?
Hi guys!
I recently came up with a new issue on my HTC Vision (Desire Z, french).
The screen would eventually lag while in an intensive CPU program. But by lagging, I mean something very specific, let me explain through an example:
If i'm in a game (it depends which one but it's obvious with Angry Birds or Armored Defense) then i get the screen lag 9 times out of 10.
I hold a bird, then pull it to the left... aim... and let throw! That's the normal way but when I'm pulling, or aiming (moving up/down) the bird would go, without me having released my finger. And often also, it would tap the screen again just a millisecond after, catching again the screen touch. I see it because the bird do its special ability just after the launch in theses cases.
Same thing with tower defense games: i'm dragging a tower to a place and before i can reach the location, the tower places itself on the way. Then the map would drag as if i caught again the screen touch.
If i'm on the homescreen and have fun with sliding between screens, no problem, i can keep my finger on the screen and move it right, left, fast or slow, that will just move the screen fine, as intended. It's smooth. Same with the notification bar. I can move it down/up fast, smooth, for half an hour if i would like to.
So, basically, that's what I call my "screen lag". It's absolutely annoying, in games as in other apps sometimes (it affects pinch zooming as well...).
I noticed though, that in my processes, the android system process is always running high. Is it normal? In OS Monitor, CPU usage is always at 97~98%, from which system takes a fair 70% (more if nothing else runs). Is that a problem? If not, could that be the cause?
Would you like a video with this problem illustrated to understand or was it clear?
Thank you for your time and help!

If lag is your enemy, crank up the CPU you must.
On a side note, I'm not experiencing any lag at all, just tried angry birds and Need for Speed Shift, all seems fine @ 806 MHz
Same here, nfs shift, angry birds,
Aasphalt, fifa,.... all fine on stock speed. Only reason I've oc'd is to get rid of that millisecond lag on the homescreen, not that it was an issue, I'm just anal.
You can use a process monitor (like watchtower) to find out which process is messing with your CPU.
I'm having a problem where bluetoothd and logcat2 are using up the cpu when I enable BlueTooth. You could try turning it of to see if you have the same problem.
Hi.
Thank you all for your answers.
@omarsalmin, @wileykat
As i mentioned, i did not have that before. Not at all, I played the three first packs of Angry bird just fine. It has to do with some app installation I guess. But I don't know which one, and I'm not rooted. So probably ockling the CPU won't help. What's more, i'd like to keep my battery life as now, which is already so low...
@rajackar
I used OS Monitor to notice that I had a process taking over 70%. And as i wrote, it's "system" (named "Système Android" in french). Also, I keep having he problem with everything off (all i can turn off has been so), and just after a reboot (fast reboot disabled).
How could I find the cause of my system process eating all CPU?
Big thanks guys.
Your not running any task managers are you?.... I used TaskPanelX on my Hero for about 9 months thinking it was beneficial but when I uninstalled and rebooted everything ran smoother. I have tested on the DZ and got the same result.
I'm only launching OS Monitor from time to time, to check things, but close it then (the clean way, complete exit, not just minimize). I'm not running anything else, at least which I know about. Anyway, the problem came before I installed tools for checking. And also, the process involved here is "system".
Can anyone tell me if OS Monitor (or another process monitor but I would like to compare with same app) shows a low CPU usage when not doing anything? Or is it a OS Monitor issue, showing the system process to take all the remaining CPU power?
Thank you
As most of you will know, FPse now has an option to enable a different graphics plugin to replace the default one built into FPse itself.
It gives loads of extra graphics options within the application settings and all-in-all makes games run extra-sharp and look a whole lot better.
There is of course, a HUGE downside to this graphics boost. Which is lag. So far, I have been unable to find any combination of settings on the Xperia Play that is able to run the game with the OpenGL plugin and play the game at a playable speed. Not to mention the black lines around objects and general graphical artifacts seen half the time.
Has anyone been able to get it to run well on the Xperia Play at all? Currently trying it out on Final Fantasy 9, but its really not happy at all! Currently overclocked to 1.6Ghz on Doom's new V11 Kernel, so the GPU should be overclocked too.
I think, if it's not going to work with all these extra performance boosts, then it never will! Not that I've personally been able to prove the GPU overclock, but that's a different story altogether.
Also - If anyone has FPse running on ICS and can test the OpenGL plugin on that, that would be great. ICS apparently has the new Adreno 205 graphics drivers giving a 1.5x-2x performance boost, so it should show better results.
You can get the OpenGL plugin from the link below:
http://perso.numericable.fr/schtruck/libopenglplugin.so
Instructions for installation:
1. Download the file and copy it to your SD card. Doesn't matter where.
2. Load up FPse and go into Settings/Misc, you'll see 'Use OpenGL Plugin' towards the bottom, select it and direct it to the location of the file.
3. Restart FPse. A full close and reload is required.
The OpenGL plugin makes the graphics unplayable to me, so many graphical glitches...

I agree. I've had many games that have ran perfectly in the past after changing a few settings here and there. Castlevania SOTN for example, ran perfectly before using the plugin. However now it lags in most areas and certain graphics appear faded and transparent such as pickups and torches/candles. Not to mention random tears in wall/scenery textures.
lag problems here too
I must admit, I haven't seen any particularly bad graphical issues on the psx games I have used with the plugin, but the lag makes it unplayable, which is such a shame as it looks incredible!
I guess xperia play users are going to be left behind when it comes to fpse,
Tony Hawk's Skateboarding 2 (PAL) is worth a try with the latest version of FPSE from the Market.
Can use the new graphics plugin with frameskip off as long as the sound plugin is set off (Audio > null sound plugin). Can then force System > Boost Mode on to eliminate bits of sub-50fps lag (e.g. around the plane on the first level, and this setting does not stick after a reset). Unset Framelimiter to get 60-85fps... There are only graphic glitches in the loading screens.
To have sound you'd probably need frameskip, which shows up a lot on a game like this.
Tekken 3 (PAL) isn't yet fast enough with the plugin even with frameskip and boost on and sound plugin off and has graphic glitches everywhere but the game and mode select screens.
Curious about the graphics drivers in ICS, but my bootloader's still locked. I have a rooted R800i, stock rom and clock, and am making sure there's plenty of free RAM before starting FPSE.
I know this is for Xperia Play, but I have little lag on the Droid X2 with that plugin. I do however, notice many issues with the emulator when using the opengl plugin. I cannot use savestates or loadstates while using the plugin, and occasionally cannot start an iso. Is it a Play-specific plugin?

It's not a PLAY-specific plugin. It's just very undeveloped
Resurrecting one of a couple of threads on this...
Colin McCrae Rally 1 plays at 50fps without frameskip or overclocking. It also has an option in-game for landscape output, to use our 16:9 screen without stretching.
You just either have to use an in-car view (drawing the car itself slows it slightly) or use System > Boost Mode. Or o/c to 1.2GHz. There are graphic glitches pre-game, but otherwise menus and game are fine.
There's Dirt 3 on OnLive of course but that's harder to take out with you...

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 works without frameskip and boost mode on at 1GHz, but it's best to o/c to 1.4GHz and have no boost mode and then you have full sound and music as well. Boost mode makes it harder to do tricks. Shame I played the Tony Hawk's series to death really.

I am having trouble with this on every game I have tried on my SGS3.
When I switch to OpenGL mode and restart the app the games just black screen. If fast boot is not on, some game will load the first PlayStation splash screen but not fully, then it will black screen. When in black screen I can sometimes bring the menu up but it just freezes. If I don't try to bring the menu up it will eventually just take me back to where I select a ROM to open, and repeats the process until I switch back to software mode.
Anyone got any idea how I can fix this?

Yay, I just got OTA notification as I woke up. The download size is 1,259.9MBs.
New features in attached photo:
I will post my experience as it's installed.
Just finished downloading the FTF through Flashtool/XperiFirm. Will flash in a moment and report back if noone else beats me to it (most likely someone will )
Ok, early feedback from the AU build
Fingerprint reader is lightning fast, most noticeable change on first boot - Just wow.
Whole phone seems considerably more fluid, a lot less lags and stutters - that said, my MM build was in a bit of a state and had become very slow!
Currently investigating the new stamina options:
"Battery time preferred" slows the whole phone to a crawl. It disables the "big" cores, disables a bunch of features, and reduces display brightness - not pleasant to use at all. A bit TOO heavy handed in my opinion. nb. It seems you need to reboot after changing FROM this mode to reactivate the big cores??
"balanced" mode does introduce a lot of micro stutter throughout the UI, less noticable if you disable animations from the developer menu, but I still wouldn't recommend using this option all the time.
Performance preferred" option seems a good compromise. The battery life estimate jumped up by about 25% compared with disabled, and is barely noticable in general use - I may leave this enabled 24/7 if all is well.
New options in the camera include timer and also the object tracking on Superior Auto, ported from the Xperia X series - a welcome surprise.
Nougat's new notification mechanism is a good improvement, I like that change a lot. There are more interactive options in the notifications themselves, and they can be long pressed to expose further options still, such as removing a notification from lock screen, setting them to "icon only" and other such things.
I'm still not delighted by the heat this thing puts out, on my phone previously on MM I've seen battery temp in the very high 40's when browsing over 4g, and even 52c once playing Pokemon GO.......this is borderline dangerous quite frankly! A geekbench run on Nougat saw me into mid 40s, so looks like no improvement there.
Please anyone do a video review (i wonder if you can still do a screen video) < one example
multi windows i guess replacing miniapps,
i wonder if they remove call recorder (voice machine)
and benchmark test! strees\heat
it will be the last version (if we lucky maybe 7.1)
Awesome!!! No idea when Bulgaria gets it but I am already hyped.

Superrman said:

multi windows i guess replacing miniapps, Multiscreen is alive and well - a bit pointless on our tiny screen mind you. Strangely, small apps is a selectable option in the task switcher screen. It opens a new menu screen which list the small apps. I little clunky, but maintains small apps for those who use them I guess.
i wonder if they remove call recorder (voice machine) - Sorry, not sure what you mean here. I don't recall having any stock call recorder? I use a third party solution and that seems to work ok.
and benchmark test! strees\heat No notable change in my initial fiddling. I expect it may be possible to tune the heat/performance with the new stamina options if you so wish. I'm currently testing the "performance preferred" option of stamina mode, and that doesn't seem to do much (anything?) in terms of CPU throttling. The GPU frequency readout seems broken in floating monitors (nougat issue?) so can't tell what its doing there till tool is updated
it will be the last version (if we lucky maybe 7.1)

Quick thoughts after an hour or so of usage. It feels more smooth. The notifications are nice. The battery seems ok so far, need to use it for a few days i guess.
Split Screen is working fine for me and I havent actually noticed any lag while no battery care functions turned on.
Clear all button is there right up at the top.
Double tap switches between the last two apps quickly.
My Ringtone and Media Volume is stuffed. Can anyone else check that on their device? The volume is loud for a millisecond and then it dies right down to a painfully low level.
Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Huawei MediaPad M5 under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".

poor on some image heavy websites on chrome. The GPU just doesn't clock up for some reason.
Scrolling in chrome is slow on pages with a lot of ads.
Beware deleting files with the clean application
Do not use clean application for deleting files. After using it the scrolling got less smooth.. Pages load in less smooth way. Use instead files go from google. I speak out of experience. Untill i deleted files all was going well and it changed after i use it . The provided clean appp does not work . Beware.

Maybe the clean app did clear thr website cache and cookies...
That is why loading the pages were much slower.
Do try to use the same pages for few days and see if its better or lag even worse.

Do not ask me why but it did. That means the huawei app did not just delete temporary files. Assimple as that. Before page took 2, 3 seconds to load. Now the pagge is a bit unresponsive and suddenly loads. This does happen in liveleak. I could try a factory reset but i have no idea if that would work smootly. So better stay as i am. I am just warning people.

Thank you for your comment. I used this cleanup tool that comes with operative system. Huawei has its own operative system called emui. My op is emui 8 based
in android 8. Appart from this problem tablet is very good. The 32 gb version is a bit short of space but the tablet has slot for micro sd. The pro version has 64 gb of disk space
