Hey guys, I have a rooted shield but I can't get videos to play with either Disney+ or Hulu. Netflix loads videos perfectly.
Is this normal? Am I missing a setting or a patch somewhere?

If you're using Magisk, then maybe forgot to use Magisk Hide and hide root from those apps... I have root on my Shield TV and all my apps including Disney+ and Hulu work perfectly...
If this isn't/solves your problem, then unfortunately I have no clue how to help.. sorry

Maybe the issue is in what I'm using then. What setup and ROM are you using in yours, please?

I want xposed installed for the background YouTube playback and no ads, but most ROMs encounter bugs with this I think.
Is there a preferred ROM that will play nice with Xposed?

Try the Newpipe app, available on the F-droid store.

Perfect!! Works great! So much better!!!
hey! is there a bug free version of youtube for the fire tablet?
the official youtube apk keeps freezing when I switch to my subscriptions and the one Amazon provides is worse than the mobile website!
Get the Google Play framework/services/account manager/store APK files on your device, then just download the official YouTube tablet app from there.
YouTube and most other Google apps rely on the Play Services to function properly.
I use YouTube Vanced :[Magisk] iYTBP - Youtube Vanced [Official]

Doesn't Vanced require Magisk? I thought you couldn't run Magisk on the Fire 7th gens?

No- it doesn't require anything. I use it on a Fire HD8 (and everything else since it kills all the ads). You can check out the features here:[Magisk] iYTBP - Youtube Vanced [Official]
Mod Edit - No longer applies.
So which youtube version Is working with the hd 8 please and none root.?

if it no longer applies does that mean I don't have to sign in? No link anywhere in this thread anymore so I hope so.
came back to my Fire HD 8 (2017) after months to give to my father. running great with play store and bloat removed thanks to the Tool provided here
My only issue is I cant update it (which isn't surprising after running a tool like that) and for some reason cant install any apks unless form the app store (amazon store is gone) The installing apks part was new. Don't recall that being an issue. i even have "install from unknown sources" allowed in security and toggled it off and on between reboots.
My work around for Vanced and MicroG was throwing the apks in "Bloatware removal root folder"\Apps and then editing the Fire Tool.bat to include new option to install microg and vanced. I just copied the install commands for launcher/hijacker and edited to push the new APKs. very simple and worked perfectly.
Didn't try to logging in yet, was going to let me father try to use his account. If we can't it's not a deal breaker. ad free youtube on his tablet will work great. Really regretted buying this tablet at first but after XDAs help, its the best little tablet that could for under 50$.
PS. As for Vanced. Use it on my non-rooted One Plus 6 phone and love it. It's where I got the idea to install it on this tablet. Only odd thing is I installed the same apk on my phone as the tablet. The one on my phone applies the proper dark theme but the tablet doesn't. Again, not a deal breaker.

There is a Vanced mod for Magisk, but you can also go to the Vanced thread on XDA and download and install the non root Vanced. Apk that works on anything, along with the MicroG.apk in order to be able to sign into YouTube. I don't believe you need the MicroG.apk if you are rooted.
I rooted and unlocked my FireHD 10 2017.
After disabling every Amazon bloat, I wanted to install Prime Video from the Playstore. In order to get rid of any package conflict, I removed prime video folder provided in /system/priv-app. I can successfully install prime video from Playstore but it only launches for two or three seconds and then it crashes. Logcat doesn't show any interesting log.
Is there anyone who know what could cause this? I really want to keep prime video updated so I like the Playstore variation.

No luck yet... I tried to change device fingerprint but it seems like that doesn't help at all :/ There might be some system restrictions but I can't figure out what exactly it is.
I'm in the same boat, gifted the device to my mother and now she wants to watch movies on Prime Videos but couldn't make it work.

Hello, I have made a factory reset. Then I updated the software. And then I removed the Amazon interface again, but left the Amazon Store. From there I was able to install Prime.

Does anyone know a workaround to run Paylife secCheck on a rooted OnePlus 6T? I'm rooted with Magisk 20.3 on OOS 10.3.0 and use ElementalX-OP6-4.00 on my device.
I'm able to install the PayLife app, but when I try to scan a QR-Code in the app I am told that it is not possible to use the app on rooted or jailbreaked devices. Trying to hide the app with Magisk Hide doesn't work either, the same error message is produced even after a restart of the device. Other Magisk-hided apps like Netflix run without issues...
Any chance to get the app running?
Ciao

Glad to Help.
Hi there
Past week I had to replace my defunct HTC, my first choice was a OnePlus, but due to budget reasons, I bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T instead. MIUI annoyances aside, I noticed that now youtube is riddled with ads, it is almost unusable. I am watching the same channels I used to before, but now it has like 4 or 5 times more ads.... did you noticed this same behaviour? is it normal?
Thanks.
just use blokada and your ads are gone (in every App)
U can use Youtube Vanced

Yeah, I went that route and so far is being a pain in the arse. In order to install the split apks with SAI, I had to disable MIUI optimizations in developer options, and after re-enabling them, now my apps permissions are all messed, I found out whatsapp would't show my contacts name anymore, to discover that every permission had been revoked. That happened to lots of other apps, some of them will ask for them the next time I launch them, but others will just not work properly, and now I have to figure out everything. And on top of that, with Vanced I have to give up my Google credentials If I want to have access to my histoy, subscriptions and so on.
I wish I spent couple hundreds more in a OnePlus or a Pixel, I would save it in pain...
Thanks.
installed vanced this week and none of ypur problems was present.
youtube is private company, so they do what they want basing on your internet profile. some videos have 20 ads and some have jist one

I'm using 9T since September...
right now I have unlocked bootloader, but Stock 11.0.4, not rooted, just Vanced and haven't got ad on youtube since I installed it. I use it everyday for a few hours at least
adaway also works, but you need root - it modifies host file.
educate yourselves and then go to discussion with others

Actually there is YT Vanced apk (root not required) abd YT Vanced module for Magisk.
Both block ads in YT, apk does not fully work with YT accounts, module does work with YT accounts
As answered earlier yes: AdAway (needs root but) modifies hosts file and hence it DOES NOT block ads in YT - it has been discussed and confirmed/explained many times in XDA AdAway thread (also in DND66 thread that also modifies DNS but through VPN and does not require root)
