Strange TWRP boot. - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Whenever I try to boot on recovery it goes me straight ahead on a pin pattern for decrypt data. If I press back it goes me on another screen it says unmodified system partition and swipe to alow modifications. If I swipe then I see strange name folders. Wtf is happening? I have bluespark twrp. These problems appeared when I installed aicp rom.

Don't know if it's matters but I flash the new TWRP via existing TWRP. Maybe this method causes these bugs?

Encryption issue after flashing LineageOS 14.1 and SuperSU

Hi
I'm having this very weird issue with my phone (A2017G). I unlocked BL, installed TWRP, updated to TWRP 3.0.3-1, formatted data, factory reset, install A2017G_Nougat_Bootloader+ModemFix, factory reset again, install LineageOS and then boot. The device booted fine.
I noticed root wasn't built-in so I flashed SuperSU V2.65. After a reboot, my phone won't let me boot into the system anymore. I get asked for a password. Whatever password I enter, it says "Decryption Unsuccesful. The password is correct, but data is corrupt". When I reboot to TWRP and format data and then factory reset, nothing changes. I keep getting the prompt before system boots. Even re-flashing the bootstack and lineageOS doesn't help. I know flashing anything else will brick my phone, so I refrained from doing that.
What am I doing wrong here?
Note that TWRP reads both my internal storage and my SDcard. However, internal storage contains only the folder "TWRP". When I go up a level, I can see the normal folders like "boot", "cache", "data", "dev" and so on. In the "backup" menu, DATA also shows as "0MB"
File system says "f2fs". Do I repair/change it?
Thanks
Ah,
I have/had the same error. Looks like this needs to be changed to ext4.

I would say the answer lies with issues between f2fs and SuperSU
https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-...upersu-has-trouble-with-f2fs-data-partitions/
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
And you flash the wrong SuperSU, the one needed is either v.2.79 or v.2.79-R3. try booting back to TWRP and clean Flash Lineage again and flash either one of the SuperSu I Mention before.
I have the same after install unofficial lineage 14.1 'decryption unsuccessful'
On TWRP 3.0.3-1 I go in 'wipe', then 'advanced wipe' and select 'Data', press 'Repair or Change File System' and then 'Change File System' to EXT4
That's work fine on my 2017G
For root
download.lineageos.org/extras
The arm64 zip
After install with TWRP go in deployment options and activated it!
Lineage is running with root
Thanks, everyone. That worked. I was quite worried for a while, I really don't want tot RMA the device a second time due tot me messing things up.
Where do I find the options in Twrp for deployment

Probably it is caused by a known bug in the f2fs implementation in the kernel. Only @Unjustified Dev can solve it. Some people who already was using f2fs with TWRP 3.0.4 and LineageOS 13.1 are not having those issues and they were able to dirty flash the new LOS 14.1.
Updating to TWRP 3.0.3-1 is very recommended. TWRP 3.0.2 has some problems when flashing zips. SuperSU is one of them.

I have the same

twrp issues

Hi o am on the latest twrp for this phone. I don't have my data encrypted and when I boot into recovery from the phone using the reboot into recovery method it works fine. Bit if I power off the phone and reboot into recovery it says data is encrypted and asked for a password. I tried my lock screen password but it doesn't work. So I'm thinking that I should just wipe the entire phone and start fresh. I aslo noticed that since the last term update my Los updater doesn't work it won't run the updater script.
What would be the best way to do this? Should I just wipe the phone and then adb sidload the latest Los gapps and magisk? Or should I just wipe then push the files to my phone and install the from twrp? I have never done either of those operations but it doesn't look too complicated.n
Any suggestions?

[HELP] Twrp password and encryption.

I have flashed latest lineage os 16 . i was coming from rooted stock rom and i removed all pins and fingerprints. after flashing lineage everything went fine but then phone automaticaly rebooted to twrp and twrp started asking for pattern. i had set pin on los but twrp asks for pattern. Now whenever i try to boot to los the phone asks for pattern instead of pin. my storage is encrypted and im unable to mount internal storage. I havnt backed up my internal storage and wants the data back. Kindly suggest the solution. ADB?

This happens because stock rom has encryption enabled by default.
If you want to get your data back, you will have to flash latest stock firmware (flash_all_except_storage / Save userdata) with MiFlash

Oneplus 6T: slot A system damaged but slot B won't boot either

I have rooted a Oneplus 6T with TWRP and Magisk. No problem. Today I uninstalled one system app I shouldn't have. Own stupidity, I know
On reboot the device is stuck on the Oneplus boot animation screen which never finishes. So I rebooted into TWRP. Current active slot is B. That is probably because I installed a system update before. In TWRP, I switch to slot A and reboot to system. However, I am thrown back into TWRP. I can keep changing slots and the behavior is the same. Slot A boot loops to TWRP, slot B shows the Oneplus boot animation forever.
Any ideas how to proceed?
The uninstaller app has made a backup of the uninstalled app but that is probably useless without successful boot since the partition is encrypted.
On TWRP start I select the read-only mode. Do I need to allow it to make modifications to successfully boot from slot A?
Is there a boot log I can check (like dmesg etc)?

This is OnePlus 6 forum, but you need a full OOS zip file to flash and it will work. Flash oos, then TWRP, then reboot recovery and flash any other mods (if any) or just reboot after flashing TWRP.
Thanks. You have restored some hope I might be able to recover while keeping my data and settings. I am not yet sure how to flash the OOS zip (which I have downloaded). TWRP cannot decrypt the storage, so I cannot upload the zip to the device. I suspect I have to go back to the stock fastboot.
Anyhow, I have asked about this on the 6T forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...4-ota-oneplus-6t-t3860953/page20#post78198874
Alright. Solved it by
wiping cache & system in TWRP
"fastboot flashall" with images from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6t-t3862516
Then had to flash twrp and sideload magisk, as you said.
It even preserved all apps and settings and the lock code. I am not yet sure where this is stored. Data partition? Anyhow, it survived. Which saved me from the hassle of finetuning all settings etc again.

TWRP Recovery Shows Encrypted Restore Files

I have a One Plus 6t international version rooted through Magisk. I was debloating some One Plus system apps this morning and removed something I shouldn't have.... now the reboot gets stuck on the loading screen, then boots into TWRP recovery. I'm trying to restore from backup but everything is encrypted and TWRP isn't asking me for a password to decrypt.
I don't have a pin or anything set on the phone at the moment
Tried the twrp decrypt <pin> command with the default password but it just says 'Failed to decrypt data'.
Anything I'm missing here or do I just to reformat and give up on the encrypted data?

Managed to decrypt the files by installing a different version of TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...overy-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3861482
Turns out I did not bother to do any backups...
Can copy all of the pictures and documents out though which was what I was primarily after.
